You forget an important last step: rewash all your clothes now because there's no way you'll be able to let them touch your skin after witnessing what they've being washed with. Thanks a lot, this was really helpful!
I didn't know my tray popped out. I think I have a hard water issue in the tray, not mold, so that is a plus. I just started the cycle with baking soda after cleaning the tray.
I followed all your procedures and smell continued. I discovered the element was broken and needed to be replaced. Your video set me in the right direction to discover what was at fault 👍
@@valerieguidry7636 element is a sealed unit in your machine. Looks like what is at the bottom of your kettle rather than round it’s straight. It’s quite easily replaced. Un do 1 bolt 10 spanner disconnect 2 electrical wires and remove. Make sure all power is off to the machine.

Hi what dio you think of Calgon, The Pink Stuff limescale cleaner, baking soda or vinegar for getting smells and build up of calcium etc out? Great vid btw- my 2 year old Candy was fine until I started doing a lot of 309 deg washes, i used to "waste electric" asnd do 60 deg for anything that could handle it. Going back to that too. Good info- thank you.
Nice video, currently waiting for my 90c wash with the cleaning powder to finish. Fingers crossed it will do the job. I think this is the one major disadvantage of doing colder washes - with modern detergents you can still get your clothes clean at 30c, but the machine builds up bacteria far faster than "back in the day" when people were washing at 60c+ on a regular basis. Still, running a high temp wash every 6 months or so is probably way cheaper than washing daily at higher temps.
And don't use fabric softener. It ruins clothes and can potentially be cancerous. But softener clings to your clothes fibers, but how does it know the difference between gunk and your fibers. It doesn't so it clings together gunk which makes it heavy and potentially sinks so it doesn't drain properly. Creates a feeding ground for bacteria
My machine is 15yeara old. I have only ever used liquid cleaner. It has never been serviced. Would be nervous to mess with the U bend. Didn't realise there might be a service wash option. Just wondering if you know if Bicarbonate of soda could be used to clean it. Or I shall need to go out looking for the Dr Powder you recommended. I hope it is not hard to find.

My washing machine filter wouldn't budge whatever I tried, then I just tried an old fold up mobile phone from years ago, and it worked! There was nothing stuck in there but loads of water came out. Hopefully my clothes will smell better next time.

I don’t have any u bend on my drainage pipe ... constantly blocking and making floods, hence i drain directly in sink - so the pipe of the wash machine spits ribbed copies of its insides gunk... Cleaning it in all sorts of ways and its new machine Can low water pressure in the block of flats cause it?!
Low water pressure shouldn't affect it as the drainage is the last part where the pump pumps out the water in the machine. Sounds like poor pipework on your drainage. Best get a plumber to have a look and advise.

your not explaning if the rubber base is dirty. me rubber second layer and the rubber that on the inside of the whiel is dirty, how to i clean that? i having hard time to keep the rubber that on inside of the whiel open to clean it. any tips?
It’s hard to clean all the places inside, run a few drum cleans or 90c empty washes to help clear dirt, once a machine gets older it’s harder to clean the rubber if it’s ingrained dirt
@@LurgsHowToGuides i have cat i gues its hairs that are left behind in the rubber drum, try to clean after one soda round, but was still harde to keep the rubber open to get the rubber layer that on the inside of the drum, even tryed to force it open with the back side of flat metal fork, but even then is was still in some way harde to remove the wet dirt/hairs/molt. now im running it overnight with vinegar. but i dont think that will help my hair/molt problem that on the inside rubber sticking to drum.

Yes not easy. Still try a drum clean/90c wash as this may flush through and clean it. Else use the pods which go directly in the drum and it may clear up after a while
I have a Samsung VRT steam Front load washing machine when I open the door it smells gross like mildew or something it smells like gross mildew when you open the door it’s not too bad but it still smells Gross do you know how to fix this

I doubt if an engineer would be able to fix that. Make sure you do some really hot washes (service washes) and after normal laundry leave the door and detergent drawer open to allow ventilation.
@@LurgsHowToGuides Hi, thank you for the reply. I have done three 90°C washes. One with a touch of bleach and two to rinse it out. I've checked the pump and the drawer has been completely cleaned and the rubber seal. Yet the washing still comes out smelling awful. I'll see if the professional machine cleaner works. The machine doesn't have a drum clean function, which is unfortunate.
@@WillVenusASMR Yes try Dr Beckmanns in the drum on a 90c wash. That should help. It shouldn’t smell if water is draining properly. Odd the actual Laundry comes out smelling, are you sure the cold water inlet feed is ok, I would think it is as it’s mains water and you’d see problems with water out of your taps. You could also try the pods for a laundry wash instead of using the detergent drawer as these go straight in the drum. Hope you can get it sorted, please let me know how you get on...and good luck.

What are the active ingredients of your cleaner? The two main ingredients of affresh are 65% Sodium percarbonate or oxygen bleach aka oxiclean, and 15% Sodium carbonate or washing/baking soda. Also read citric acid and oxyclean..
Hi! I took out my soap drawer and behind it was a lotttt of mold. How do i flush this black stuff away after scrubbing it loose? can i put a small hose in? or do i kill the machine by doing so? I couldnt get it all away with a cloth and now all my clothes smell like shit and have these loose black stains :/
Try scrubbing it loose with a long brush (but block that hole up incase you drop it), then do a service wash or a hot wash with no clothes to flush the machine through. After you do a wash always leave dispenser drawer slightly out to let it ventilate, will stop mould building
USA Costco Kirkland Signature powder. I have a 4.5 Samsung washer, I use 1/2 c. Kirkland powder, 1 Tide pod, 2 Scoops Oxy Clean with ever load. Crack door open and drawer and after 3 yrs without Clean cycle absolutely no smell. Every 3 months Clean Clean out.

When you say soapy water, do you mean washing up liquid, hand soap or liquid antibacterial soap? Thanks.

The U Bends can get clogged up. The washing machine cleaner is really good stuff.

your not explaning if the rubber base is dirty. me rubber second layer and the rubber that on the inside of the whiel is dirty, how to i clean that? i having hard time to keep the rubber that on inside of the whiel open to clean it. any tips?
It’s hard to clean all the places inside, run a few drum cleans or 90c empty washes to help clear dirt, once a machine gets older it’s harder to clean the rubber if it’s ingrained dirt
@@LurgsHowToGuides i have cat i gues its hairs that are left behind in the rubber drum, try to clean after one soda round, but was still harde to keep the rubber open to get the rubber layer that on the inside of the drum, even tryed to force it open with the back side of flat metal fork, but even then is was still in some way harde to remove the wet dirt/hairs/molt. now im running it overnight with
vinegar. but i dont think that will help my hair/molt problem that on the inside rubber sticking to drum.
Hairs do stick to the rubber. Hope the cleaning cycle works and at least helps a bit

Not sure, depends what sort of stain it is. Usually a stain on clothes needs water on it or washing straight away.

I use fabric softener and my clothes never smell of it or smell clean….is this the reason? A dirty soap dispenser or washing machine?
Not sure, usually it’s drainage issues. Always leave drum door and detergent drawer open after a wash to help with ventilation

Smells are usually drainage issues and clogged drains

Every time I do a drum clean with my washing machine the machine leaks and water floods out everywhere 🤦 do you know what could be the cause of this?
Too much detergent, probably too many soap suds and foam and it will try to escape. Use less detergent or less washing machine cleaner.

Yes not easy. Still try a drum clean/90c wash as this may flush through and clean it.
Else use the pods which go directly in the drum and it may clear up after a while

Can I remove my sink plumbing without affecting my washing machine?
Well that depends if your dishwasher waste is plumbed into your sink drainage and whether the inlet feed uses same pipework.
I’ve done all of those steps and the machine still smells. It’s only 2 years old. Should I get an engineer out to see it?
I doubt if an engineer would be able to fix that. Make sure you do some really hot washes (service washes) and after normal laundry leave the door and detergent drawer open to allow ventilation.
@@LurgsHowToGuides Hi, thank you for the reply. I have done three 90°C washes. One with a touch of bleach and two to rinse it out. I've checked the pump and the drawer has been completely cleaned and the rubber seal. Yet the washing still comes out smelling awful. I'll see if the professional machine cleaner works. The machine doesn't have a drum clean function, which is unfortunate.
@@WillVenusASMR Yes try Dr Beckmanns in the drum on a 90c wash. That should help. It shouldn’t smell if water is draining properly. Odd the actual
Laundry comes out smelling, are you sure the cold water inlet feed is ok, I would think it is as it’s mains water and you’d see problems with water out of your taps.
You could also try the pods for a laundry wash instead of using the detergent drawer as these go straight in the drum.

@@LurgsHowToGuides I actually use ariel liquid and pop it right in the drum, on top of the load at the back. I'll try changing the water inlet hose as I don't think that has been changed in a long time. Thanks so much for your help, it's genuinely appreciated 👍🙏🏻

Sounds like a drainage issue in your pipework , best look into that or get a cctv drainage survey done
What are the active ingredients of your cleaner? The two main ingredients of affresh are 65% Sodium percarbonate or oxygen bleach aka oxiclean, and 15% Sodium carbonate or washing/baking soda. Also read citric acid and oxyclean..

Hi! I took out my soap drawer and behind it was a lotttt of mold. How do i flush this black stuff away after scrubbing it loose? can i put a small hose in? or do i kill the machine by doing so?

Try scrubbing it loose with a long brush (but block that hole up incase you drop it), then do a service wash or a hot wash with no clothes to flush the machine through. After you do a wash always leave dispenser drawer slightly out to let it ventilate, will stop mould building
Stop using liquid detergent…use dry powdered detergent…No more mold!!, Trust me!!
USA Costco Kirkland Signature powder. I have a 4.5 Samsung washer, I use 1/2 c. Kirkland powder, 1 Tide pod, 2 Scoops Oxy Clean with ever load. Crack door open and drawer and after 3 yrs without Clean cycle absolutely no smell. Every 3 months Clean Clean out.
