All of you talking about Air Bending while not knowing about the Hyuga Clan from Naruto. Baguazhang literally means "Eight Trigram Palm" which Neji and Hinata use.
Fantastic brief history of Baguazhang. I'd like to buy her book, if she ever decides to publish her father's work. Thanks for the upload. Keep up the fight!

This style is based on double saber techniques. See the hands as two sabers and it makes more sense. The foot works, the slashing and finger stabbing with the hands. And her explanations are elegantly put. 👍👍
Excellent video. The martial art has variant Latinized spellings from before Pinyin. Ba Gua Chang or Ba Kua Chang being amongst the most common before Pinyin. With proper training, the palm (chang) is stronger than the fist (chuan), at least from my observations.
@@EduardoRodriguez-ks4em There is a martial arts writer named Smith, as I recall, that wrote a worthwhile book on each of the three aforementioned internal styles of kung fu about 40 years ago. Sun Lu Tan was a grandmaster of all three. Probably the only grandmaster ever of all three. He lived about 130 years ago. Thank you for your comment, Eduardo.
Looks like a very graceful martial art. I would to try it one day along with xing yi quan. I think some bagua schools teach xing yi alongside bagua together.
I'd love to learn this little known martial art. I love Tai Chi Quan, but I don't want to be limited in only one practice. Not too many such teachers where I live.
One suggestion, the shooting during playing Kung-Fu is the way too swing, please make the camera still a bit. 摇晃和太花俏的镜头不一定体现功夫的高深,反而觉得你们的镜头在帮他们隐藏着什么,而且看得人头晕眼花,这不是电影,这是纪录片好吗年轻人?
Doing Haichuan didn't have a lineage. He founded the art, but each of his students were already highly skilled in their own arts and what he taught them was adapted to what they already knew. Cheng was a wrestler, IIRC, and Yin was a shaolin guy. Their bagua looks very different as a result. But the actual lineages start with them. If Dong were to teach you, it would be a modification of what you already knew.
@@IThinkSoBrain Dong Hai Chuan's students are considered his lineage because their Baguazhang can be traced to Dong Hai Chuan. If it wasn't for Dong Hai Chuan they wouldn't have learned Baguazhang and they wouldn't have passed the Baguazhang they learned to their disciples. Unlike other schools whose lineage cannot be traced to Dong Hai Chuan their style are not really Baguazhang per se but nonetheless it was called as such. (for instance Wudang Baguazhang. Why it's called Baguazhang when their Baguazhang wasn't directly descended from Dong Hai Chuan therefore not of Dong Hai Chuan lineage? It's because of Dong Hai Chuan's influence thus the name Baguazhang is used instead.) Their lineage came from those schools when the art was called "Zhang Zhuang", not "Baguazhang". That was what it is called before Dong Hai Chuan called it "Baguazhang". But even so, these arts are still called Baguazhang despite of not being of the Dong Hai Chuan lineage. During the old ages, shools such as Hung Style, Wing Chun, Shaolin Quan, Wu Dang Quan, etc. teach students who are experts in other arts also. These students also became disciples and spread the art they learned also. So technically speaking they being an expert in other martial arts before they were taught the art doesn't exclude them from the lineage of their masters. As for Dong Hai Chuan, he didn't create a new style because what he has being taught has already been in existence way before he even existed. He didn't create a new style but he founded a new school. He had students and disciples, and through them his teachings spreed. Therefore undeniably these are all his lineage. Because they're Baguazhang came from none other than Dong Hai Chuan and if it weren't from Dong Hai Chuan they wouldn't have any Baguazhang to teach their disciples.
