- Shi Yanxuan is a monk at the Shaolin Temple in central China's Henan Province. Because of his love for traditional kung fu since childhood, Shi joined the Shaolin monk team at the age of 14. He practices a difficult soft weapon, the Shaolin three-section cudgel. The three-section cudgel consists of three short sticks. It can be used in various ways to attack and defend with a flexible range. The practitioners concentrate all of their strength and coordinate their body, the cudgel and their feet, in order to exert maximum power. #Chinakungfu #十三亿分之一

“When our hearts clean, everything in surrounding will be clean! “ it’s very deep!
Basic teachings of Chinese Culture
It's called "境隨心轉" in Chinese under the Buddhism. After Buddhism was transferred to China from ancient Hindu, Chinese monk masters spent 1000 years in order to translate all Buddhism books from Sanskrit into Chinese.
I am wondering whether the real meaning of Buddhism can be completely and accurately translated into English!
@@kkwwong126 Things get lost in translation, so it is impossible.
Language and culture are intertwined, there is also the Linguistic Relativity Theory. The West has a fundamentally different culture and view on life, and their language represents that. Thus translating Chinese to English, Vietnamese to English, or Indian to English means a lot of subtle meanings are lost. They might convey the general concept, but not the full message as intended.
To those of you that say Wushu is useless - let me explain: the Chinese culture is 5000 years... Wu Shu = "Wu" = Martial "Shu" = Art - with as much focus on art and discipline as martial. let face it, in today's world, you can train your whole life, i still can take you out easily with a gun. However, art and tradition, once lost will never return - this is why China is the only surviving civilization in human history; we can trace our values and traditions alway back to when our ancestors first settle down around the yellow river. no other culture in mankind can claim that. This is something we, chinese, are proud of, which is also what we cherish. As most other nations are all so quick to follow trends in order to get ahead, e.g. Rome empire, byzantine empire, the mongol empire, even the US today, by the end of the day they end up losing their roots and eventually themselves and their civilization - due to they do not treasure tradition and a root to fall back on when true crisis hit a civilization. These "useless" arts is what maintain a nations true unity and identity during a national crisis. Is pathetic to compare MMA/UFC, a capitalistic organization with making money as ultimate goal to shaolin, an ancient practice that have survived multiple dynasty changes (please try to grasp the scope of this statement), is pointless even comparing those UFC to Shaolin - is like saying Picasso paintings are less accurate than the pictures you take with your iphone X, therefor iphone photos are better than picasso. There is a reason why your instagram post are not consider ART, regardless how much you edit with filters!
Bravo. Your words my friend hit the bear truth and the roots of problem. I think the same, and thats why my country is in big problems (from the same reason).
I would like if we were like you and keep our tradition and traditional values instead of accepting the "modern global" values with all haste.
Nice preach my friend. I mean, Wushu is the martial art that survived through thousand years of time. And that alone can testament to it's worth.
just on point. chapeau!
I agree and thanks a lot for the explanation, everything you said is right. I don’t have words to say what I feel , I feel sad and happy. I love the shaolin temple . Greetings from Miami
Anyone calling wushu useless, is useless themselves. And simply can not envision themselves mastering it because they're so pitiful
The three-section cudgel is probably the most difficult weapon to master. (I could not do it) Controlling the two end staffs with the middle staff takes massive concentration. Once they go wild it is almost impossible to not injure yourself. Mastering the nunchucks gives no advantage to learning The three-section cudgel. They basically look the same but using the the three-section cudgel is like juggling chainsaws. One slip in timing and it will whack you. I have complete respect and admiration to anyone that can train that dragon.
Cǝǝ Zǝǝ First day of learning it, and I hit my head 4 times in a row. Hopefully, I’ll get better.
Oh yeah
Mastering nunchacku gives no adavantage to mastering the 3 section cudgel? Thats just silly all life experience can be applied to almost anything. Being that they are similar (sectional weapons) some things do translate over.
@@robertostler6733 Why don't you show us all how a simple figure 8 works with the 3 section cudgel using the middle staff and with the two end sections moving simultaneously.
@@cz6774 and what would that prove?
When the monk says it's easy, it's level is 100...
When he says it's hard, we lose count of its level.
Shrewd comment! I agree...
This has to be the most candid insight into Shaolin life so far, this unique story with pictures.
Superb series. The only thing they lack is better recognition. Keep it up CGTN!
❤India❤china❤
佩服!真的是禅武双修,不止武艺高强,也很有智慧!
Thank-You. You inspire me to continue training. Great inspiration!
Cleaning the table could cleanse Our mind. The priority is to cleanse our inner mind. When heart is clean, no other place is stained.. ♥
We learn by doing. This is the most valuable lesson in this.
I will re-watch this another 10 times for sure, the most wholesome inspiring video.
The fact they get discouraged, make mistakes and have a sense of humor is really cool. It's easy to forget how they're normal people.
少林寺 is excellent the traditional workout and culture. i think It's really way of the hardest ways. i respect 少林寺.
It's beautiful what the human body can achieve and some how overcome when we are intouch, in tune and are able to find the time in our busy lives to study our natural surroundings. It's a connection and an emotion, I'm sure that passes through evey living thing. We all travel and breath the same air so why shouldn't we share the same concepts, they can not separate because we are not separate.
Beautiful temple. Thank you for the video, xi xi. Best wishes from England.
I have a dream to learn kung fu since childhood🤗🙏🙏🇮🇳🇮🇳
go to china
@@satishkatara7405 Yeah.. Afterwards
Yes kung fu is definitely the best an oldest. Kung fu for life
Thanks brother.
I always enjoy these incredible stories, there so captivating. Tony from Canada 🇨🇦
This is fantástico. I love kung fu. Greetyngns from Brasil 🇧🇷
This has always been one of my favorite weapons! This was a really good segment with good Kung Fu!
The narrative is real, the training is hard and practical, we all know Chinese Shaolin is not a martial but only wholly for self-reflection likeness of meditation and show.
Just look how other life, not our own, has flourish when we have enabled ourselves and our surroundings to take a breath and recover from the footprints we have laid so eagerly in pursuit of those pictures of ourselves. Not to diminish the tragedy that has taken hold but to open ourselves up again to a new beginning and refresh our minds and try to finally take something good from all the bad.
That was great 👍🏿. Very nice to see the real shaolin temple.ℹ️💯✅❤️✝️🙏🏿📖🗡👊🏿👌🏿👍🏿☯️😎
I must admit that I am utterly lost in my life. No true purpose, no balance, only chaos and lack of control. Traditional martial arts will be my salvation.
Yes, Gung Fu will bring you purpose in life and most importantly inner peace...good luck my friend.
Same here😣
Recently discovered this series. They're great.
Thank y’all for sharing this ❤️

Thanks for the video.
um dos vídeos mais lindos k já vi !
One of the most beautiful video who I have seen !
Im watching this while laying in bed with a bunch of snacks and a pitcher of ice tea
The discipline and resilience induced by Wushu is the reason for the survival of the Chinese civilization for thousands of years in the face of numerous challenges.
Good
We may find peace in Shaolin temple. Really want to visit and take some advice from the monks.
Gorgeous Weapon. I will never forget the smack to back of head on extreme move training.
So good mai friend!!!
I love the Sanjiegun. The air about its origin is mysterious. I like to practice with an aluminum one to really get the gist of how dangerous it could be. Also if you train with a metal one, YOU LEARN NOT TO HURT YOURSELF REAL QUICK.
WOW!
Sit ups with LOGS?!
These guys are hard core!
And that staff is CRAZY!
you are a great person
wushu is a way of life. You have to train both mind and body. great lesson.
现在遇到困难放弃了,以后还怎么成长? 心里干净了,周围的一切就干净了
阿彌陀佛
Especially like the last part. If inside your heart is clean, nothing is not clean.
Applying to reality ie when someone keep telling you to clean up that means inside his heart is very not clean.
"Mom! ...."
Sometimes, several youtube hoaxers and lowlife trolls must taste the three-section cudgel to their dull heads.
Just one hand. Is too much
Beautiful
I have heard people say the rope dart is the most difficult weapon, but as a practicioner of it I disagree. The 3-sec staff is by far more difficult. I am definitely glad I didn't get assigned this weapon! But I definitely love seeing a good practicioner work them. It truly is a difficult weapon to learn.
MORE!!!
i can not understand sticking the ground as you flower. what purpose does that serve?
it seems like ever form has it in it
Beautiful life bless from Miami
I dont know how the guy would go in a real life high level fight, but i waaaay admire the level hes trained his body to and his mastery of and one of its extensions, the TSC!
He might not beat 5 guys at once, but from the way he trained his body, he won't go down without a long fight for sure.
brilliant!
The book keepers and librarians of these ancient arts.
非常厉害
为什么看哭了,我也希望我的心能这么静,这么净
Where are the MMA comments 😂
Here I am, I have nothing against dancing as long as it is not confused with fighting.
Attie Schutte Bro. With the way these guys train, I’d say MMA fighters would have a challenge. If you read a gung fu book, you’ll know what I mean. They literally train every part of their body until it’s as strong as steal. The only martial arts that remotely does that is Muay Thai, and they only condition their shins.
MMA can't use weapons. Cannot hit groin, cannot attack eyes, cannot strike or grasp neck, cannot rip ears, cant kick when opponent on the ground. So it is rather limiting. Not real world fighting also.
Meh I'm mma typical guy what's with these wussy nonsense , go home hippies get a haircut
Mustafa Malikzada ; shhh, let them mma gloaters gloat...
我小时候参加过武术队,太苦了,一个小朋友发烧了还是要训练....只坚持了一个月
Lovely stuff!
I'm interested shaolin kungfu, and I interested 3 year learn kung fu,but I don't know shaolin kungfu training center and no idea learn shaolin kungfu fees
說到三節棍,讓我想起早期邵氏武俠電影裡的三德和尚🙏

Espero que consiga visitar a China!
oh how i wish to train somewhere like that for a year or so
Like Johnny English?
There are three basic types of three sectional staff users... Those who hit themselves in the head the first day and quit, those who hit themselves the first day & persevere, and those who lie and say they didn't hit themselves on the first day.
Skilled.
👍👍👍🙏🙏🙏
How many cracks to the head and the groin before you either give up or attain master level status?
In the Shaolin temple, Shaolin congfu disciples are taught by Shaolin congfu masters,
but they also learn for themselves by doing Shaolin congfu by himself or with his congfu brothers.
Hey, I learned that form! It's wicked hard.
What he is doing is not actually fighting with it. He won't do that in a real fight. That twisting and swirling is show.
If you want to see what it looks like to use the weapon in a fight, while it is choreographed, look at Shoalin Master Killer. That will give you a good idea.
Very inspirational. Great video
👏👏👏
5:10. Damn...
天下武功出少林
I wonder how much have the ShaoLin monks incoporate the scientific training concept. It might help their training more efficient.
Where do they get money to buy stuff?
i like that little Axe gang reference
Very Informative...
I had one of these. I was holding the center one and twirling it on a figure eight around me. Thought o was doing good until one end came down and hit my shin before i could finish saying "oh shi.." The other end came up and cracked the back of my skull. I threw them down and never messed with them again.
Keep going, Grasshopper.
Is “White Eyebrows” and “Drunken Fist” real Kung fu styles?
Im pretty sure drunken fist is real but its very showy.
White Eyebrow maybe just fictional but I wouldn't put it past some one to create a style based on the popular character.
Joe Pecina ; monks and alcohol...
5:17....... whats that song name?
It’s three section staff
Yes, I previously read that it was called the 3-sectional staff. It was in the video game, "Revenge of Shinobi", and in the China vs. Japan Weapons Fight Scene in Jet Li's "Fearless".
When I watched Fearless in the cinema when it came out, I laughed out loud when the Japanese guy exchanged weapons with Jet Li’s staff because I knew he would hit his own head with it.
What the fees of learn kung fu in Shaolin temple
I recommend rantons videos on this topic especially his video called my life at shaolin temple really interesting
@@D-ominicP i know but i'm also want to learn kung fu inside Shaolin temple
So what the cost.i want to know
@@mdimamuddinwarsi1383 from what Ive googled it is around 5800$ cca 5400€ for year and I think that is the last thing to worry about basic chinese is a must and you need to be fit enough to do atleast splits I highly recommend this video ruclips.net/video/9f8zb_QKZEo/видео.html for training and I personally want to go to china too and hopefully find a monastery which accepts foreigners so I can atleast have a chance to train alongside warrior monks, this is the page where Ive got the data from m.kungfuxinglin.com/col.jsp?id=109
is is so funny that he mentions wiping the table being akin to wiping one's mind. I used to be a line cook and my chef would get on my butt about that. He would say that my station is all messed up so my mind is all messed up and thats why im getting orders wrong or moving slow. He would tell me to stop cooking entirely and wipe my station down and reorganize. THEN i could get back to cooking. And i had to keep it that way. That's so weird how a chef can stumble on a shaolin practice and never know it. or maybe he does know! lol
Your distinction between art and function is a good one. I agree that these traditional practices have much they can offer.
What struck me was the scene: "the monks go the super market."
Here, we see them buying modern industrio-shampoos in plastic containers. Inexpensive cellphones. We see the children, as if praying, before a rack of brightly colored fetish. Their shopping cars fill with semi-agro snacks and modified foods, all brightly packaged in oil based plastics.
Then, they return to the temple--
a place right out of China's rich cultural past--
The way the light falls on the floor of the hall
as the doors swing open--
everything we see at the temple
is like a hermits crab's shell,
he having long since moved out.
And we, who come scumbling along by some cosmic luck,
now stand in his shell.
We move along his halls;
are life is the same...
And yet, our true root has been made over,
these past 100 years was all it took.
Our root, our earth, our food, our body--
it has all been taken from us, handed back to us in a colorful and cheery comfabulation, a fabricated study group approved flavorfull trill brandishment of aggressive glad handed grumble gathering
the likes of which have never been seen.
China, You too, along with of course the "states" and the rest of the modern world,
have been "uprooted,"
that is to say, de-rooted,
disenfranchised.
If a man stand not on his own two feeet,
he is on the shoulders of giants. let him stand,
but do not assume he is flying.
Such are we. Let us break /briefly from defined STATE
and return every man to himself on 3.
Ready?
(GO was implied)*
(and then let him be brought back together as they wished...
but wait--then who are truly the msaters?
no matter/ adjust to such matters
(this matters)

Such pragmatism, such wow!!
Thanx for this video...
🥰
I heard that these monks can block the bullets from anti aircraft machine guns with their 3 sections cudgels. Not sure how true it is...
I heard losers often comes in different forms and disguise and very pretentious and they plagues the internet nowadays.
@@1001001a are you referring to these monks?
Were those prayer beads in that one scene? What is his religion?
grumpysquid He is a Buddhist monk
Seeing that guy mop with his hands, on all fours reminds me of marine corps boot camp 😫... my marines out there know what im talking about lol.
🙏
The monk and the temple are both fascinating but whoever filmed and edited him using the cudgel should be sterilized through repeated groin kicks. Extreme closeups and constant angle changes are how you film an actor pretending to know martial arts, not genuine practitioners.
I would like to learn
Just think how cool that weapon would be on Deadliest Warrior.
You can make one, from stuff found at home depot.
I made one, a size used by Michelle yeou, in the movie Thi Chi master, with Jett Lee.
It's a petite three section, much more easy to learn.
