    So I have nothing against Bose but the "They're Bose so they sound great" definitely caught me off guard 😂
    If he had said "These Bose' sound great" I wouldn't have bat an eye but the fact that he implied that the Bose branding alone guaranteed great sound was definitely odd wording

    I don’t know why people keep putting the Bose on their best of lists. I had those exact ones for four years and I can’t say that they’re bad speakers but I certainly wouldn’t put them on a top five list either. There’s absolutely no bass to them but they are clear. I just purchased a set of Klipsch Pro Media 2.1...these things are booming! Music and RUclips videos sound amazing in them.

    I just bought the Audioengine HD3s from you guys tonight. An almost perfect transaction experience and your shipping times are faster than Amazon's despite being free and the products priced the same. I even had $100 Amazon gift card I could use and still decided to forgo using it for this purchase and pay the entire price out of pocket because I wanted to support you over Amazon's increasingly monolithic presence. This was my first experience with Crutchfield and I'm a happy camper. Thanks!

    I bought the Bose Companion 2 Series III like 2 months ago, and they're great, couldn't ask for more @ $100. But I recently decided to splurge a bit and upgrade further. I bought the Edifier S350DB, and the difference is night and day. I actually bought them for my TV, and since I only really use my TV for gaming, and was currently gaming on my PC, I hooked them up there first as a temporary thing. I'm thinking now I'm going to buy another set for the TV, as they are that damn good. I had a $200 Yamaha soundbar for the TV, and this is miles ahead of it. You will not find better powered speakers with a sub for $300.

    Do not buy KEF LS50Wii for computer speakers. I have them, and used it for my computer setup connected via optical. It sounds amazing, but is not a near field speaker. You won't be able to use it to its potential unless you sit about 6 feet away. It being on your desk won't get you that. I have since moved these to living room and it sounds much much better.

    I have the Klipsch R-41PM. (mostly great with one problem) I added a R-8SW subwoofer to them as well. The speakers don't require a subwoofer, but I was spending money and like the audio "warmth". These are a good size for "computer speakers". I would find the R-51PM too large for this use case (as the R-41PM are already fairly large) and I didn't have the desk space for them anyway. My R-41PMs are about 4' apart and toed in a little bit in order to accommodate my massively wide Dell U4919DW 49" ultra widescreen monitor. Even with this wide spacing and sitting 2' from the monitor, the speakers provide an excellent sound stage. Voices (usually placed in the middle of the sound stage) seem to emanate directly from my monitor and not the speakers. (the speakers do that wonderful thing where they "disappear") The only negative thing is the USB port doesn't work properly with my computer. Many others have complained of the same thing including the speakers working for a while and then no longer working using USB. I work around this by using an old SoundBlaster box that has an optical output. I figure it's likely a driver issue or driver conflict with the sound card as the speakers worked properly first for two operating systems and then stopped working.

    • @EntropyConcept
      @EntropyConcept 3 года назад

      Nice to get another POV of those speakers! I purchased them a while back as well. I’m using them around 3 feet away from me and 3 1/2 feet separated from each other. I quite like them, and I do agree that they disappear quite well under normal use, and have excellent soundstage. Under low-volume operation, I really quite like them, but once I start cranking them, ouch ouch ouch. They start beaming, the treble becomes sibilant (klipsch tuning and an Aluminium done tweeter... ouch), they lack in bass somewhat (but that’s to be expected from a 4’) and they start to sound a little dry and grainy. Despite that, I still like listening to them cranked. Do keep in mind this is coming from somebody who listens to highly compressed RUclips audio that isn’t always mixed very well, and in addition I’m quite picky about my speakers. Nevertheless at the price I purchased them at-$250- I’m quite happy and satisfied with them, although I’m looking for an upgrade.

    Little bit weird list. For me more for ,,beginners on budget,, and not realy focused on sound quality

    Would never place a Klipsch in a Nearfield Setup. But maybe ive too high ,,standards,, :- D ?!

    • @EntropyConcept
      @EntropyConcept 3 года назад

      Yeah something like those nearfield are probably better recommendations, it’ll depend on environment and what you’re doing. At low volumes the 41pm is fine. At higher volumes... well, rear port up against a wall makes the bass sound distorted, but since it’s a 4’ in driver there’s not a ton of it, klipsch tuning and an Aluminium dome tweeter makes my ears go ouch, and it sounds a bit sibilant and dry. However at $250 imo they’re not bad (got them on sale)

    • @crutchfield
      @crutchfield  3 года назад

      There are a few differences between the 41 and 51. Namely, size of the cabinet, size of the woofer, size of the amp. The 41 is great for near field listening (like at a computer) because of the smaller size. Often at a computer desk real estate is pretty small. While the 51s do an amazing job - they are a bit bigger in size. If you've got the room there is no issue in moving up in size for a better listening experience.

    • @EntropyConcept

      Don’t want to be a downer, but your ‘’8 inch sub” Driver on your sub is actually a passive radiator for the 4’ in driver, and the “400 watt” power rating is peak, not RMS (major, major, major difference) and even that claim is somewhat dubious. Oh what else... you’re basically using a single driver for both possibly some lower notes, midrange, and treble. I would highly recommend trying out a nice pair of speakers sometime.

    • @crutchfield

      They would work great! The best way to connect them would be via a 3.5mm audio cable, or if you have a MAC computer, you can use Apple Airplay2.

    • @dc99yt

      I have the LSX it’s a great bookshelf/desktop speaker. It also have an output for subwoofer, so the lack of bass is not a big problem.

Powered monitors, presonus e 3.5 or machine crx 3’s are good neutral studio monitors for $100 usd but since they’re rear ported you’d ideally want to have them distanced from walls unless you like distorted bass, if you want a more fun sounding speaker or something that you can push up against a wall, edifier 1280db, there’s a lot of really solid speakers, but you gotta define your budget, in what environment you’ll be using them in (desk, pushed up against a wall, on speaker mounts, ect) and what you’ll be using them for.
