What I and many people likely want to know is how do they compare model to model on the issue of noise, I have the Original Kanto Yumi and they hiss even with all inputs disabled as the original DAC had issues (Kanto has told me they fixed the issue and even offered to exchange them past the warranty, mind you I am too lazy to mail them in). I am looking for clean sounding speakers and for some reason most reviews spend so much time on features they forget what really matters the nuances of sound like noise, USB is notorious for introducing line noise and DACs without proper filters will end up with tons of noise coming through the speakers from either the USB or the Wall power.
Just buy the pair with the widest range. Ideally 20Hz to 20kHz. Many speakers start at 65 Hz some even higher, which means you lose all the bass, you actually miss a lot of instruments when listening to music.
Sony SRS-XB31 gives you a wide range of sound with great bass. Just wonder if a bookshelves speaker can give a similar range of sound. If so, I would consider to buy it

@@carewser double surface area is needed for +3db efficiency. Imagine doubling the surface area of your 8" a few times. Yup you're at 12+ inches. Nothing has changed except dsp. 2x power or 2x surface area for +3db.
These are all good speakers, but all too large for most desktops. Max dimensions should be 6 inches tall and 3 inches wide for a computer speaker on a desk.
I did the same and was very pleased until I had to return them due to the right speaker starting to sound like a kettle. Unfortunately I just got my money back instead of new ones.

This group doesn't make a lot of sense, there should be picks starting at a budget price point and going up. These are all $300 and up, which doesn't make sense, especially when you consider that you're reviewing a couple tiny little units that are easily blown away by cheaper larger speakers. Most of us don't drop hundreds of dollars on computer speakers.
Using a DAC is the key. You've wasted your money if you are using any of the speakers in this list with the analog audio jack of your computer (unless you have a sound card with a discreet DAC). On the other hand you don't have to spend a fortune to get good sound. I bought a set of KEiiD compact computer speakers for $80 from Amazon for my Mac Mini and immediately realized that the analog jack wasn't doing them justice. I added the FX-Audio DAC X-6 ($65 on Amazon, non Bluetooth) in between the speakers and a USB port on the computer. I now have a compact speaker system for my computer that sounds way more expensive than what I spent for it. Getting a DAC is the key, if you are willing to experiment you could probably assemble a decent sounding system for half of what I spent.
I have the Klipsch R-41PM as my candidate, sound quality has to be pretty similar than 51PM except for power, or does really change the sound? And more important how is the integrated DAC? Can't find any info on the DAC, and had on mind to add a Fiio K5 Pro, Topping DX3 or external DAC with volume control+headphones upfront and better sound if there's really a difference between those external DACs and the 41pm's integrated one.
@@sirdewd2197 yes, Amazon and eBay have all sorts of adapters, spliters, extractors such as an HDMI audio extractor that splits the output into HDMI video and separate audio optical, coax, or 3.5 mm as an example. You can find almost any type of interface you need to connect a newer audio device to those speakers. I even have Bluetooth adapter for mine as well as an HDMI audio extractor
I'm surprised the Edifier 1000 and 2000 models were not mentioned nor was the Kef x300a which both sound great however I would not recommend the Kef as not only do they only have USB and 3.5mm connections making them very limited use but mine developed a high pitch hum when put in standby mode about a month outside the 1 year warranty and Kef would not fix them under warranty despite them being $1,300 speakers :( The Edifier 1000 model I bought to replace them are great and only cost around $500 but don't have a subwoofer connection.

Are they repairable at all..most computer Speakers are disposable? Also..are they made in China ? That sure would be the nerve of them to have them made in China.
I heard a lot of audio comparisons of these models (and many others). This top 5 is totally all over the place, especially with those gimmicky expesive Audioengine in there two times. Even an edi 1280 sounds better even a deaf goat can hear that.
I understand that this is your video, however when a best list goes to the size and price of the M25 and R-41, the list should get bigger by mentioning other speakers such as Kanto YU4 and YU6. If you were to say that the YU6 for example aren't desktop speakers then you would have to remove the M25 and R-41

Sorry, but setting the powered speakers' volume level AND THEN using the computer's internal volume to set the actual volume is not a good idea. That is how you get more noise. It is best to set the computer internal volume to 90%-100% and then use the Powered Speaker's volume adjustment for listening preference. Tidal's exclusive mode will automatically lock the computer volume to 100% for this reason.
For the money, I think the ProMedia 2.1 is hard to beat. It's like $130. Funny story, I just "upgraded" to the Kanto TUK + Kanto SUB8 from the ProMedia 2.1 and I won't lie, I was initially a little disappointed. The Kanto stuff is clearly superior, but at nearly 10 times the cost, I wasn't truly blown away. I've since dialed in the Kanto system using Equalizer APO and it's a pretty formidable near-field/desktop setup, but if you're on a budget, the ProMedia is pretty amazing because it sounds pretty good out of the box.
My Audioengine A5+ plus their DAC is not intimidated by these choices. Mounted on tall studio stands, they can provide great sound that fills our entire office.

A USB "connection" and "DAC" are 2 different things. A DAC has nothing to do with an easy connection. A DAC is a Digital to Analog converter that makes the sound less "sterile". Another fact you obviously didn't care to look up...Audioengine was created in 2005. Several years after Klipsch and even Logitech were selling high end computer speaker systems. That Audioengine A2 sounds terrible for their price. It should be like $20. I have an old pair of Optimus speakers from the 1990s and that is how they sound. For the price just get the Bose Companion 20.

Hi, can someone explain to me how my 12watt rms speaker work? it's an analogue USB speaker (it has both a USB cable and a 3.5mm aux jack). From what I know USB port provides only 4.5watt max, so how does my 12watt speaker get 12watt of power to power itself? (both the USB and aux cable are plugged into my motherboard i/o)

Is a device whose functions are amplification, correction , levels of audio output. Sometimes inside the sepakers or as a kind of miniconsole with knobs to control the volume + levels.

@@jaackdanielsful sometimes the dac is built in and sometimes are external and looks like a some kind of usb memory or a are as big as a 90s game console. That usb port is used for woftware update purpouses in some brands and in others is the utput audio from the computer through the dac but what you really going to use is the pure aux output of those dacs. In other brands the usb doesn't exist and instead of that ypu will use a in and out aux port of the dac. Dragon fly is one of the most renowed brands of usb type dac but are in medium price to high. Before you buy check what device you want to amplify because isn,t the same a dac for gaming headphones and dacs for musical normal or monitor flat type headphones. I think dragonfly covera you in that leage or creative dac brands. Avoid chinesse brands like Pyle or those with bulbs offered in ebay, aliexpress, etc. The best dacs are British or gaermany but expect to pay big and painfull.
About the question of the built in dac. Yes are built in in monitor type speakers, but avoid cheap or small models and go for medium size price monitor of krk rookit, presonus eris 4.5 or higher, yamaha monitors of the newest iterations or pionner monitors of mid size(not the basic entrance models,jbl mid size monitors like jbl305p mkii .
@@rudolof8540 Good explanation. At first, I was thinking about Asus Xonar U7 MKII as external soundcard for my laptop and/or desktop. From what I've heard, it has a good quality DAC for 192kz. In it, I'd plug my AKG k92 phone and/or my Edifier r1280. I know it isn't some really good equips, but as I live in Brazil, these kind of peripherals are quite expensive (dolar is almost 6 times our currency due to covid-19). As my goal is to listen to music at a good quality, it seems to be reasonable to start with these specs. Then, I sell these ones and start upgrading my stuff. What do you think?

My Klipsch R-41PM were on sale for $200 and rock. Small, 70 watts, USB input as well as optical, phono, 1/8", RCA and has sub out.

You can change the volume level without USB. Also when you use USB you bypass your high quality audio hardware if your mobo is equiped.
These speakers have internal DACs which are most likely better than what is in your computer.

If you have external DAC already, check out the Tannoy Gold 5. Half the price of KEF LSX, better sound quality.

What about the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 system? Two satellite speakers and a subwoofer already set up to go together. THX certified, too!

I have the Yu2's and for their size they are phenomenal. Nearly everything Klipsch just gives me listening fatigue.
I use a pair of Dynaudio Xeo 4 with a connect-box to my 2 computers and they are quite good.

Anyone know how the a2+s and hd3s compare to the a5+? There is only a 30 euro price difference right now, and im assuming the a5 should be better since its a higher number right? Lol

Are the Klipsch R41PM speakers (with an added subwoofer) better than the Klipsch 2.1 system? Are they even in the same category?
They would be miles ahead of the basic 2.1 Klipsch sells for around 150
Just get some fuckin KRKs or something dude. Sure these are more universal "plug and play" but if you're in the $300 price range for a pair of desktop speakers like these, you might as well get a pair that won't crunch on you if you crank them up

Hi, can someone explain to me how my 12watt rms speaker work? it's an analogue USB speaker (it has both a USB cable and a 3.5mm aux jack). From what I know USB port provides only 4.5watt max, so how does my 12watt speaker get 12watt of power to power itself? (both the USB and aux cable are plugged into my motherboard i/o)
Can someone explain me a bit about the USB DAC of these speakers? I'm planning on buying a speaker and a dac (or a sound card with dac, I haven't decided yet) to use with my PC. But these USB DAC settings got me confused here
Is a device whose functions are amplification, correction , levels of audio output. Sometimes inside the sepakers or as a kind of miniconsole with knobs to control the volume + levels.

@@jaackdanielsful sometimes the dac is built in and sometimes are external and looks like a some kind of usb memory or a are as big as a 90s game console. That usb port is used for woftware update purpouses in some brands and in others is the utput audio from the computer through the dac but what you really going to use is the pure aux output of those dacs. In other brands the usb doesn't exist and instead of that ypu will use a in and out aux port of the dac. Dragon fly is one of the most renowed brands of usb type dac but are in medium price to high. Before you buy check what device you want to amplify because isn,t the same a dac for gaming headphones and dacs for musical normal or monitor flat type headphones. I think dragonfly covera you in that leage or creative dac brands. Avoid chinesse brands like Pyle or those with bulbs offered in ebay, aliexpress, etc. The best dacs are British or gaermany but expect to pay big and painfull.
About the question of the built in dac. Yes are built in in monitor type speakers, but avoid cheap or small models and go for medium size price monitor of krk rookit, presonus eris 4.5 or higher, yamaha monitors of the newest iterations or pionner monitors of mid size(not the basic entrance models,jbl mid size monitors like jbl305p mkii .
@@rudolof8540 Good explanation. At first, I was thinking about Asus Xonar U7 MKII as external soundcard for my laptop and/or desktop. From what I've heard, it has a good quality DAC for 192kz. In it, I'd plug my AKG k92 phone and/or my Edifier r1280.
I know it isn't some really good equips, but as I live in Brazil, these kind of peripherals are quite expensive (dolar is almost 6 times our currency due to covid-19). As my goal is to listen to music at a good quality, it seems to be reasonable to start with these specs. Then, I sell these ones and start upgrading my stuff. What do you think?

For my gaming room i use logitech z906 speaker system but replace the front 3 speakers with B&W MT1 Speakers and 2 Boston Acoustics rear speakers ....looking for a 7.1 sound system that can hook up to my consoles
