Great review! I own the Ora's and the Swan's right now, and I've been using the micro monitors for 5 years and I do share almost all your opinions: I Used the iLouds for long time in my desktop and I was extremely happy with them, analityc sound precise bass... they are incredible, but then I moved out and I put them in the living room paired with an SMSL C200. That was an error... They were still good but don't try to fill a big room with this little ones as you will loose most of its precision and characteristic sound. That's when the Swan's came in action. Extremely happy with them but I suggest to pair them with a DAC or something like the SMSL PS100 if you have it connected to your TV (and your TV allowes it) but i wouldn't use them in a desktop if I'm honest, to me they sound more like bookshelf speaker and they are able to fill a bigger room, which is not a problem neither for nearfield speakers, but for that purpose I think there are better options. Lately I was so hyped with the Ora's that I sold my iLouds and got those. Quite happy with them as well, but for my taste they have too much base... and it is not as precise as the iloud's bass. In the other hand, the sound is more natural and I completely agree that you can listen to them the whole day and you won't have fatigue at all. (Edit:) I have to say that I use the Ora's now paired to my SMSL C200 because the sound is better than using its integrated DAC. If you ask me, for you desktop, iLouds or Oras, but I couldn't set a winner between these two, as I prefer the sound of the Micro monitors to analyse music, and the Oras to play videogames, watch videos and listen more "mainstream" music. Swan OS10 defenetly for a bigger room or as TV speakers, they sound BIG! Nice to discover this channel!
Great video, it's clear that you have a good taste for sound. This video is exactly what I was looking for, I was considering all of these speakers (except the Audioengine). I'll be waiting your next video testing their sound 👍.
I absolutely love this comparison video! It’s incredibly informative and well-presented. Thanks for breaking down the features and sound quality of each speaker so clearly. Keep up the fantastic work, looking forward to see more quality content like this! Very well done !!!
Perfect timing on the review. I also own the Swan OS-10a and was just about to buy another pair for my desk but now I’m thinking differently. Appreciate it.
I agree with you about the OS-10, coming from Edifier MR4, I had to tune the highs because they were a bit too sharp for me, but the OS-10 is excellent out of the box
@@Jasper_Tech I directly emailed Kanto support and asked them. Unfortunately there is no release planned for EU for now, they said. So i'll just import some white ones from the US. Loving the new matte route they are going, but 3 out of 3 are red tones, so i wished for a little more variety. Still happy that they are trying new colors!
This is the best video I could have come across at the perfect moment. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and keeping it real with no fluff! Keep up the good work!
From someone who actually prefers videos with frequency response graphs and technical analysis, it’s astounding how little the audiophile community seems to care about the speakers actually fitting on computer setup. IEMs, and even headphone focused audiophiles seem to take a lot into consideration besides just sound, but on the speaker side, where the physical shape of the transducer seem to matter the most, it seems like a lot of audiophiles just write out anything that isn’t the best on a pure “sound/penny” basis.
Hey guys, I’ve been thinking about replacing my krk rokit 5s with the kanto ora, main reason is the size / aesthetic but also it does sound good too. My question is can you use ora for casual mixing / mastering of audio?
Massive thanks for this video. Really well paced, informative and just what I was looking for. I was looking to upgrade from the Logitech G560s to a new pair of desktop speakers. Came across this video and am now a proud owner of the Kanto ORA's with a Kanto Sub8. Subbed and looking forward to more videos!
I was considering the OS-10 after reading such high praise on them but ultimately settled on the Ora. I valued the volume knob over the touch panel for volume control and the S2 stands which tilt the speakers felt like they'd be more suitable for usage on a desk. Nice video though.
hi, engineer here. the 3 pin thing, is for dual power supply, the other option is to have a virtual ground inside (not optimal) or putting the PS inside (requiring AC adapter) again not optimal. Or worse Using a single supply Amp (requiring big output capacitors), So a good Switch mode dual power supply is the better option.
You state that ypu are not an audiophile but I think you did an OUTSTANDING job of presenting the details on this range of speakers. I am facing the same issue and bought the Audioengine 1s and whilst they sound ok its just not special especially without a sub. Today I have the Sonas Era 100 being delivered where I will add a second for stereo which might be over kill and wont be aesthetically pleasing. The think about these speakers is that (for me at least) its a guilty pleasure in that I work long hours and it would be nice to have some great sounding music whilst Im working and on that point it will need to be low volume so I can concentrate BUT high quality with good tone and enough bass ( like having a loudness button back in the day). I am extremly tempted by your recommendation for the Kanta Ora , so the Sonas may be going back, and you described them well and the larger speakers. Great job-- thank you
I went with "go big or go home" for the "better" "entry-level" buy it for life audiophile speakers which were the Vanatoo T-Zero Plus. I'm honestly quite happy and the size of them is still relatively small as I'm space conscious (as tall as A2 on stands, 6.5 inches deep, not including the cables). I tried the A2 and iLouds but honestly wasn't too impressed... Good review!
@@nelsonmejia4023 Quite rumbly. Slightly more in the midbass section. With EQ, you can boost it. Also if you get a sub, the T0+ will "disable" the speaker's bass and let the sub do all the work and you will get a full range with the T0+ handling the mids and highs.
I found a set of iLoud Micros available locally on Craigslist for about half of retail. Like you I am also dealing with space constraints on my desk, but no speaker with small drivers will effectively produce bass at reasonable volume levels ... so I added an Adam Audio Sub7 that fits hidden under my desk to round them out. The Sub7 has built in crossovers, so you aren't asking the iLoud's to reproduce frequencies they aren't necessarily made for. The iLoud / Sub7 makes for a super-solid full-range listening setup!
@@Javi-bk6me - come out of the computer / interface TRS->XLR on the back of the Sub7, the Sub7 has an onboard adjustable crossover, then connect the post-crossover output of the Sub7 XLR->RCA to the iLoud Micros. Since the Micros are only fed the high-pass signal from the Sub7 - they aren't being asked to reproduce those sub-bass frequencies that they are not suited for.
Oh man this is a perfect review. I actually like how the iloud looks, I AM looking for a mostly studio monitor, AND I love a strong high end. Thanks for a great fair review.
Thanks for a great review. Where I am (Australia), A2+ is the most bang-for-buck choice especially when I can add a subwoofer in the future to fill out the lower frequency. The Ora is > 30% more expensive and on preorder as well; I reckon once I add the subwoofer to the A2+, the sound could surpass the Ora.
This is the cheapest sub Audioengine makes: www.amazon.com/dp/B09Q4GYPM5/ref=cm_sw_r_as_gl_api_gl_i_6A0EE154441VKEX3738K?linkCode=ml2&tag=ytbestcompactstudiomonitor24-20 Adding a sub to any small speaker that supports a sub out does make a world of difference.
Thanks. With very little space on my desk I considering some smaller size speakers as well. Unfortunately the Kanto's aren't available in my country. Same with the Swans. Heard a lot of good things about them. Keep it up with your channel, you explained your opinion well, in an accessible way.
My Kanto Ora just arrived and they sound GREAT--- thank you so much -- Im glad the Sonas Era 100 wouldnt connect to wifi as these are better, they look nicer ( on the stands) and sound better stereo separation and are half the price ( of 2 sonas) . THANK YOU for a great recommendation
Jasper I need your help I bought the Ora's and after i plugged it in, immediately, I started getting a headache pounding just listening regular slow songs, i turned down the volume and it became weak to a point I couldnt even hear very clearly the song. Is this speaker not for me? should I download some EQ to adjust something or just return it and get something else?
The A2+ has a Sub out too. I agree with your impression about the missing bass thing. But okay n combination with with a nice sub ( in ma case I have the wavemaster fusion in nearly the same white like my Audioengine 2+) it is a really great setup. After trying desktop speakers without sub and finally tried the the fusion sub I would highly recommend to use these small speakers with a small sub like the canton ASF 75 or the Wavemaster Fusion and you will be really happy. Especially with the clear crisp sound of the 2+ you will get a perfect system. 👍 Thank you for your review
Excellent video! I've read kind of mixed reviews on the A2+s and was ultimately sold by those plus size/aesthetics and availability here in Japan. But hearing you being unimpressed by the sound makes me feel like I've made a suboptimal choice lol
I’ve never tried the R-41 PM, but they seem like a really solid option. Without having tried them it’s hard to offer an opinion, but… I think since these speakers are for a smaller office, I’d go with the ORAs. They’re far more compact and will suit an office application really well. If you were looking to fill a bigger room with sound, I’d say pass on the ORAs since peak volume is not their strength. Hope this helps!
I have the Kanto YU2 , I do like it due to the size limitations I have. I the Swan would have been my choice but only due to the size, again the looks are not good but the Sound Quality is great. We seem to agree on most of the variables but when ORA become available in white will be the king
Thanks for the video! I'm buying the Kanto Ora. I'm currently using M2 macbook air and it has a built in DAC up to 24/96. Should I connect the speakers through usb port or aux port for better sound quality?
Thank you for your in-depth analysis! Just some friendly recommendations 🙂 I know speakers a bit when it comes to wanting a good setup for your TV such as a sound bar and have recently got into gaming on a monitor, hence why I am here. Maybe explain why you want different ports and what versatility they bring, I am just looking for something to sound better when I game and not always have to use my gaming headset, but I do not fully understand what other options I may or may not want when you are going over the specs they include. Thank you 🙏🏽
This is really helpful feedback and something I've been thinking about. In my next videos in going to try and make them a bit more educational and touch more on the “why should you care/does this matter aspect”. Really appreciate your help taking the time to give this feedback :)
I'm so glad I watched this video! Omg if I had bought the Kanto YU2 speakers I would have been miserable. That LED light is an absolute no for me. My desk is in my bedroom and I already have issues falling asleep.
Helpful vid thanks! Got here by researching the ilouds for small studio monitors. Haven't seen the ORAs mentioned as much for monitoring. Gonna look into it but I'm guessing their not designed for that as much
As a person with the same size desk and a multi-monitor set up, this video spoke to my minimalist not-quite-audiophile-but-wants-good-sound soul. What monitor arms are you using? Would love a minimalist desk breakdown!
Thanks for this suggestion - I have been thinking about making a video about my desk setup in general. 🙂 If you have two monitors, your desk is against the wall, and you don’t care much about moving your monitors around regularly, then I recommend this arm (it’s what I use - see my note below tho) amzn.to/4bF8zc2 The telescoping aspect makes it perfect for desks against the wall (many other arms require having much more space behind the desk). My 3 monitors setup is actually two of these arms smashed together. I had to use a dremel tool to make extensions from the second monitor set. Not the most elegant, but it works!
Great review, thanks for this! Was really helpful when i was chosing mine. Actually i went with iLouds (ORAs were not available at my amazon location) paired with Dragonfly Red DAC and quite satisfied with them but i may try ORAs as I have similar expectations. Only concern is that in ORAs spec sheet the lowest frequency they have is 70hz whereas iLouds have 45hz. As lows are very important for me, do you think there is any difference between them? Thanks!
My Klipsch pro media 2.1 are going out- the bass works but the speakers go out then come back on then go back out This seems to be a widespread problem for Klipsch What is Klipsch doing about this?
I will probably get the same ones honestly. Beautiful looking, and sounding above average from what I can tell online. Also size is actually important. I saw the measurements of other speakers and they are insanely big for the desk... who wants 2 massive speakers on their workspace, it just looks bad.
Two solid options, but two very different speakers. What are you prioritizing? If you want very clear and accurate but not super loud, the ORA. If you want something with more bass and volume, the YU6. You may also want to consider this option, it’s a great speaker and really solid value: amzn.to/3BmYl2M
When you can, try to get your hands on some B&W M1's. I have tried many speakers over the years on my desks. I own the iLoud Micro Minis, some Kanto YU4's, NHT Super Zero's, B&W M1B's, a Polk Insigna S4, Kef Q100s and Q150s, along with many others. Hands down the B&W M1Bs sound the best. I have a subwoofer so the desktop speakers only have to handle above 80hz. Hands down, for my use I really enjoy the B&W M1Bs. They are so much fun to listen to even though I am using a Sony STRHD790 receiver along with the Crown XLS1002 powering a 12" Infinity Subwoofer in a 4.6 cu foot box with an F3 of 19hz fed from a Rolls M15B signal format changer/line driver (converts RCA LFE out from the Sony to XLR and allows me to raise the voltage to get proper power out of the Crown XLS1002). The Kanto YU4's have Kevlar cones which I do not like the sound of. The NHT's have a paper cone which I do not like the sound of. The iLoud Micro Mini's have an inherent design flaw which drove me bonkers. Here is what someone who went into the flaw said: when playing a B3 or Bb3 or the same notes an octave above (B4, Bb4) at higher velocities/volumes the left speaker makes a very noticeable high pitched buzzing noise as if a piece of hardware within the speaker is resonating with the note. The is especially prominent when playing Rhodes tones from my keyboard and from Keyscape. I also hear this buzzing occasionally when watching videos where the voices are in the same ranges."
Yes I have B&w full 7.1 in the front room and they are OUTSTANDING but for a computer speakers when working the cost is prohibitive-- how much did you pay if you dont mind me asking ?
The ORAs do have a sub out! I have not tried it yet, because personally I don't think they need more bass. I do live in a NYC apartment though so part of that comes from my desire to not upset my neighbors. I think the A2s plus a sub would also be a great combo.
Good question! I think it depends on what you’re looking for. If you want a balanced ‘monitor’ that has a neutral response across the board, I’d go for the ORAs. If you want something that can be played loud and/or fill a room + has a more punchy bass response, I’d go for the YU4. To make this a little harder still, Kanto will be coming out with the ORA 4 in the USA early October. Personally, I’d go for the ORA now and then see if you think it’s worth upgrading once you’ve seen the price/performance of the ORA 4.
Hey, I think right now the Kanto ORA are overpriced at $350, for me this a factor to think about it, I don't know what's the current price of the Genelec.
Hello mate, I’ve been binge watching your videos the last couple of days now in trying to find the best speaker for causal use (listening to music and watching TV/videos). The ilouds are currently around £170, the a2+ autoengine £205 and the kantos are around £190. The oras are out of my price range, which one would be best suited for me. Thanks
Based on those options, I’d go for the iLoud Micro Monitor. They are excellent little speakers and will blow away the A2 or YU2. Let me know how it goes!
@ thanks for your reply! I have ordered the ILouds now but I am tempted to try the Kanto ORAs. Would you say they are an upgrade worth making at £100 more?
@SGtrades hmmm. For 100 extra, that’s a tough sell. If you’re looking for a more casual sounding speaker, the ORAs are excellent, and I love the USB-C input which stops any sort of potential for cable interference. Overall, the ORAs are probably a better fit for your needs, however, 100 is a lot of money. If it were me, I’d try out the iLoud first. See how you like them. The ORAs are more of a cross-grade than an upgrade.
@ thanks, I will take your advice and try out the ILouds. Would you recommend any other speakers which may be better suited for around that price range or do the ILouds come on top?
Hmm - that’s tough. I REALLY like the ORAs, so I think I’d still go with them. I’ll say, if you’re looking for a really loud speaker that can fill a room, the Swans would probably be the better option.
@@Jasper_Tech thanks for replying. Over here the Oras cost almost 4 times the Swans so that's a huge factor for me. Both have been getting rave reviews. I have yet to see any negative reviews on either ones so the fact that you admit it's tough makes it easier for me to decide. Subscribed
I know this video is a few months old but could you provide your opinion on whether to get YU2 for $156 or Ora for $275? Based on your review, it seems the $120 would be worth it for the Ora. I already ordered the sub since it was on sale but just deciding on the speakers now Edit: this would just be for casual listening while working, not producing or anything
Hmmm. I really like the ORA. Since you already have a sub, you’ll probably be happy with either, but the ORA does definitely sound better than the YU2. You could consider trying the YU2, seeing how you like it, and then return/sell them if you’re not satisfied. Honestly, that’s how I started with my collection 😅
@@Jasper_Tech I almost did YU2 first and maybe upgrade but I watched some of your other videos and it made me feel the ORA was worth especially at that price so I’ve ordered them and am excited! Thank you!
I definitely think the ORAs are an upgrade from the YU2, but since you already have a sub, it honestly may not be worth it. This is very much a personal preference thing at this point. You could consider purchasing them via Amazon (use my affiliate link if you do please! 😉) and then returning them if you’re not satisfied - Amazon is typically very good about returns.
Incidentally, front or rear facing port doesn’t matter: it’s best not to place your speaker close to a wall in either instance. Technically, as long as you leave space equal to the diameter of the port you’re not blocking it. The ‘issue’ with a rear port being too close to a wall is the reflected sound can cause peaks and nulls at the listening position. Thing is- front ports have the same issue you just have less options to mitigate the problem. The REAL issue with placing a speaker too close to a wall is the boundary gain you get at bass frequencies (which are omnidirectional) causing bloated/ lumpy bass as well as degradation in imaging thanks to early reflections ‘smearing’ the sound. I would highly recommend pulling your speakers out at least 12 inches (30cm) from the back wall (further is better) and if at all possible get some stands to lift them off the desk and closer to ear level. A thick desk/mouse pad in front of them won’t hurt either. Ultimately, getting good sound on a desktop is challenging as the environment is less than ideal. But with a few tweaks you can get satisfactory results.
So sorry about the delay with the sound demo. I will be doing it ASAP - I had a few things come up that caused me to pack the speakers up. I'll be taking them out soon to do the sound demo. Thanks for your patience :)
Hello - so sorry about the delay with the sound demo. I will be doing it ASAP - I had a few things come up that caused me to pack the speakers up. I'll be taking them out soon to do the sound demo. Thanks for your patience :)
I should have. The ORA is more geared towards computer use (no remote, USB-C, etc). The YU4 is more for bookshelf speaker use. From a sound perspective, I would say ORA4 > YU4 > ORA IF you are looking for a speaker for casual listening that fills the whole room. The ORAs are more neautral, so if that's what you're looking for, snag the ORA. Hope this helps!
I have the option to buy these at $200 IK Multimedia iLoud MTM Compact Studio Monitor Speaker 2-Way 100W RMS - Black (with 2 woofers and 1 tweeter) ---which I think is the next model up on the iloaud you tested ---- is this an absolute steal at the price or would I ben better with the Ora
Omg just the video I was looking for. Please do a follow up comparing the Kanto Ora to the Vanatoo Transparent Zero Plus and the Ruark Audio MR1 MKII. I am leaning towards the Vanatoo because I would like to have optical-in since Windows can be unpredictable with the default output device if you keep plugging/unplugging USB audio devices like I do with my meeting headset. So I'd rather not add another USB audio device and use my motherboard's optical-out instead. Thanks for the video!
My go-to is Genelec 8020 (or 8010, or 6010 if you need smaller) + Presonus Temblor T10 Subwoofer Both sizes really need a sub though, they're more loudness and low distortion instead of deep bass.
I got my audioengine a2+ the stand including free shipping and no taxes all for $249. Same setup with Kanto would have been $160 more andbhonestly, Kanto's shell is so flimsy compared to my sleek white piano Audioengine. I think for price difference, Audioengine is a better deal.
Please review for TV better sounding(low, mid, high and voice) with different possible options and controlling sound(remote, tv-remote or app etc). And i impressed lot about yours speakers review. you are perfect.
I got the Oras when they were on sale for $299 on Amazon a few weeks ago. They sound amazing, but be warned that if you want to use them with the Kanto SP9 stands the included cable is to short to route through the stands and then through a wide desk and a longer cable is not available. Otherwise solid purchase.
@@Jasper_Tech I contacted Kanto and they said something might come out this summer, but if this work you're a God send. Thank you. But I'll have to reorder the stands also. Sigh...the perfect set up is never done.
I hear ya; I’ve redone my desk too many times to count. If it helps, I believe the specific name of the connector is Kycon 4-pin din. It seems like Kanto, Swans, and iLoud all use the same connector style.
@@Jasper_Tech I reordered the stands which are now on sale for $49.99 and the cable you suggested....Perfect combo! Thank you. The Oras sound much better at ear level imho...well combined with a 12" slim sub!
I've listened to three of the five of these speakers. You're being too nice to the Kanto YU2 haha... they really aren't great for the price, muffled, narrow dynamics, and hollow sounding. The A2+ is just an upper mids speaker but at least can be somewhat saved by a sub although by the time you do that it defeats the purpose of its size. Fully agree on the OS-10 being straight up amazing if you're willing to go just a bit bigger though. At first I thought it was meh, but after letting the woofer break in a bit it really does come alive. It still could use a bit more focus in the mids and more resolution but for the price I'm asking way to much already. Really curious now to try the Ora.. I've heard the Tuk but didn't like it due to being nasally sounding but that could just be me being not used to its AMT tweeter.

Super detailed mate, really appreciate it. Glad I could be subscriber #500, keen for future vids
Your comment and sub just made my evening. Thanks for the support 🙏
Kanto Oras for me. The best looking of the lot.
I was considering the OS-10 after reading such high praise on them but ultimately settled on the Ora. I valued the volume knob over the touch panel for volume control and the S2 stands which tilt the speakers felt like they'd be more suitable for usage on a desk. Nice video though.
Looking forward to the next video! :-) Helping me narrow down my search for sure. Many Thanks! Subscribed. 👍
Same!
hi, engineer here. the 3 pin thing, is for dual power supply, the other option is to have a virtual ground inside (not optimal) or putting the PS inside (requiring AC adapter) again not optimal. Or worse Using a single supply Amp (requiring big output capacitors), So a good Switch mode dual power supply is the better option.
Thank you! Very interesting
Never seen your channel until this video right now. Earned a subscriber in me for sure. Great clean setup up and review. Good job man!
Thanks for your work. Great video!
Great job-- thank you
Thank you for the kind words!
Interesting, I just checked those and they look fantastic, how is the low end on those? Can you feel the presence of the back passive radiators?
@@nelsonmejia4023 Quite rumbly. Slightly more in the midbass section. With EQ, you can boost it. Also if you get a sub, the T0+ will "disable" the speaker's bass and let the sub do all the work and you will get a full range with the T0+ handling the mids and highs.
@@jesseyou2 great, thanks!
Hi, how could you connect the subwoofer to the speakers?
The iLoud is your dream speaker then! If you get it, let me know how you like it!
Hi,
Did you test Edifier M60 to compare it with the others ?
And the Edifier MR3 ?
Thanks for a great review. Where I am (Australia), A2+ is the most bang-for-buck choice especially when I can add a subwoofer in the future to fill out the lower frequency. The Ora is > 30% more expensive and on preorder as well; I reckon once I add the subwoofer to the A2+, the sound could surpass the Ora.
How would you link the subwoofer?
This is the cheapest sub Audioengine makes:
www.amazon.com/dp/B09Q4GYPM5/ref=cm_sw_r_as_gl_api_gl_i_6A0EE154441VKEX3738K?linkCode=ml2&tag=ytbestcompactstudiomonitor24-20
Adding a sub to any small speaker that supports a sub out does make a world of difference.
Thank you, this is exactly the video I needed. Great reviews
Dope vid! Basically in the same exact situation as you were when you uploaded this 😂
Thanks. With very little space on my desk I considering some smaller size speakers as well. Unfortunately the Kanto's aren't available in my country. Same with the Swans. Heard a lot of good things about them.
Keep it up with your channel, you explained your opinion well, in an accessible way.
I just bought audioengine a2+ month ago, after 3 weeks i bought s8 subwoofer for a2+, it is nice sound and good looking, i love it.
Nice! I think a sub makes a lot of sense for the YU2 and A2+. Glad you like your setup!
Was there a massive difference in overall sound ?
thank you for maing such a detailed review, will def buy the kanto ora. Looking forward for the audio test
Excellent video Jasper, great job!
Great job! Keep doing what you are doing, you've earned a sub!
Thanks for the reviews! I went with the Oras as well, hope they're great!
Nice - I hope you like them as much as I do. Once you've got them let me know what you think! :)
Hi Jeesp, love the channel!
If you don't mind saying, what desk are you using? Thanks
SO GLAD you like them!!
thank u jasper!!!! i love you for doing this vid
Thank you for your review
How do they compare to smart speakers like home pods?
Excellent video! I've read kind of mixed reviews on the A2+s and was ultimately sold by those plus size/aesthetics and availability here in Japan. But hearing you being unimpressed by the sound makes me feel like I've made a suboptimal choice lol
I am torn between Klipsch R-41 PM or Kanto Ora. There Will be a sub. Usage Will be for gaming and movies in a smaller office. Any advice?
We’re in total agreement. Hopefully they come out with white ORAs soon. 🤞
Thanks for the video! I'm buying the Kanto Ora. I'm currently using M2 macbook air and it has a built in DAC up to 24/96. Should I connect the speakers through usb port or aux port for better sound quality?
The USB-C port is sadly limited to 16-bit/48 kHz, so technically you'd be better off with the DAC via an Aux.
Would be nice to use a pebble or a logitech pair to act as baseline.
If you can find the Yu2 used for a good price along with Kanto's Sub8 they make an amazing trio.
I'm so glad I watched this video! Omg if I had bought the Kanto YU2 speakers I would have been miserable. That LED light is an absolute no for me. My desk is in my bedroom and I already have issues falling asleep.
subbed and thumbs up. appreciate the content!
You could also review each one and do an unboxing. thats extra content. :)
Helpful vid thanks! Got here by researching the ilouds for small studio monitors. Haven't seen the ORAs mentioned as much for monitoring. Gonna look into it but I'm guessing their not designed for that as much
Let me know what you think after you do more research- I think the ORAs will surprise you (in a good way).
If you have two monitors, your desk is against the wall, and you don’t care much about moving your monitors around regularly, then I recommend this arm (it’s what I use - see my note below tho)
amzn.to/4bF8zc2
The telescoping aspect makes it perfect for desks against the wall (many other arms require having much more space behind the desk).
My 3 monitors setup is actually two of these arms smashed together. I had to use a dremel tool to make extensions from the second monitor set. Not the most elegant, but it works!
Very helpful roundup, enjoy your review style as well. Looking forward to replacing my overkill Rokit 5's with the Ora's.
Thanks for the kind words 🙏
Great review, thanks for this! Was really helpful when i was chosing mine. Actually i went with iLouds (ORAs were not available at my amazon location) paired with Dragonfly Red DAC and quite satisfied with them but i may try ORAs as I have similar expectations. Only concern is that in ORAs spec sheet the lowest frequency they have is 70hz whereas iLouds have 45hz. As lows are very important for me, do you think there is any difference between them? Thanks!
I think the iLouds probably will go a bit lower. The way they produce bass feels like magic.
My Klipsch pro media 2.1 are going out- the bass works but the speakers go out then come back on then go back out
This seems to be a widespread problem for Klipsch
What is Klipsch doing about this?
I will probably get the same ones honestly. Beautiful looking, and sounding above average from what I can tell online. Also size is actually important. I saw the measurements of other speakers and they are insanely big for the desk... who wants 2 massive speakers on their workspace, it just looks bad.
Great vid keep it up!
I'm debating between the Kanto Ora and Kanto YU6 for my desktop. Space is not really an issue for me. Anyone have an opinion on which way I should go?
Two solid options, but two very different speakers. What are you prioritizing? If you want very clear and accurate but not super loud, the ORA. If you want something with more bass and volume, the YU6.
You may also want to consider this option, it’s a great speaker and really solid value:
amzn.to/3BmYl2M
Do the Oras have an output for a subwoofer? Curious how the A2’s and lower end Kanto sound with a sub?
The ORAs do have a sub out! I have not tried it yet, because personally I don't think they need more bass. I do live in a NYC apartment though so part of that comes from my desire to not upset my neighbors. I think the A2s plus a sub would also be a great combo.
The Ora and YU2 have the same size woofers. They should have similar sound right?
Thanks for this review.
How do you think the Kanto ORA's compare to the Kanto YU4 as a pc-speaker set?
Good question! I think it depends on what you’re looking for. If you want a balanced ‘monitor’ that has a neutral response across the board, I’d go for the ORAs. If you want something that can be played loud and/or fill a room + has a more punchy bass response, I’d go for the YU4. To make this a little harder still, Kanto will be coming out with the ORA 4 in the USA early October.
Personally, I’d go for the ORA now and then see if you think it’s worth upgrading once you’ve seen the price/performance of the ORA 4.
I am Japanese. I listened to the translation. It was very helpful. Thanks! I'm torn between Genelec G One and Kanto ora.
Hey,
I think right now the Kanto ORA are overpriced at $350, for me this a factor to think about it, I don't know what's the current price of the Genelec.
@SGtrades the Swans OS-10 are excellent for more casual listening
Great review 👏
If size wasn't a factor and you're basing your choice purely on sound, which one would you choose? The ora or the swan? Thanks
Subscribed
Oof - at four times the cost AND not being as concerned with size, I would probably go with the Swans.
I know this video is a few months old but could you provide your opinion on whether to get YU2 for $156 or Ora for $275? Based on your review, it seems the $120 would be worth it for the Ora. I already ordered the sub since it was on sale but just deciding on the speakers now
Edit: this would just be for casual listening while working, not producing or anything
Thank you!
@Why_Usernames - exciting! I really hope you like them. Once you’ve had a chance to try them out let me know what you think (really!).
Thought you might have tried Genelec G One
If I already own the Kanto YU2 + Kanto Sub8, should I consider the upgrade to the Kanto Ora? I'll keep the Sub for the Ora as well?
I definitely think the ORAs are an upgrade from the YU2, but since you already have a sub, it honestly may not be worth it. This is very much a personal preference thing at this point.
You could consider purchasing them via Amazon (use my affiliate link if you do please! 😉) and then returning them if you’re not satisfied - Amazon is typically very good about returns.
@@Jasper_Tech got the ORA. They are amazing!Definitely prefer it over YU2, and they don't really need a sub but I don't mind!
What are the measurements of your desk?
Wow. They must have raised the price of the Swan’s. I got them when they first released for $109. Still worth it at $150 though
thanks for the video!
Eagerly awaiting the follow up video
So sorry about the delay with the sound demo. I will be doing it ASAP - I had a few things come up that caused me to pack the speakers up. I'll be taking them out soon to do the sound demo. Thanks for your patience :)
Hi, do you still plan to do a sound demo of these ?
Hello - so sorry about the delay with the sound demo. I will be doing it ASAP - I had a few things come up that caused me to pack the speakers up. I'll be taking them out soon to do the sound demo. Thanks for your patience :)
Why dont you compare the yu4 vs ora specifically
I should have. The ORA is more geared towards computer use (no remote, USB-C, etc). The YU4 is more for bookshelf speaker use. From a sound perspective, I would say ORA4 > YU4 > ORA IF you are looking for a speaker for casual listening that fills the whole room. The ORAs are more neautral, so if that's what you're looking for, snag the ORA.
Hope this helps!
im deciding between kanto and swan, ill be using your linkypoos once i decide
That makes sense! If you want optical in, the Vanatoo is a great option.
I'm using an Edifier mr4 which imo is a very good value speaker and really sounds great for its price.
“You cannot remove this grill.”
Hold my beer.
😂
Please review for TV better sounding(low, mid, high and voice) with different possible options and controlling sound(remote, tv-remote or app etc). And i impressed lot about yours speakers review. you are perfect.
I got the Oras when they were on sale for $299 on Amazon a few weeks ago. They sound amazing, but be warned that if you want to use them with the Kanto SP9 stands the included cable is to short to route through the stands and then through a wide desk and a longer cable is not available. Otherwise solid purchase.
Helpful - thanks for flagging! I can’t guarantee it, but I’m pretty confident this cable will work for you:
amzn.to/3QVCODy
@mrjohn3 amazing news - so glad it worked out. Your setup sounds 💯
i want kanto ora but they are currently out of stock in my country, what a bummer.
