    I’m loving these freedom Friday videos bro and I definitely agree with what you are saying. In my eyes, too many people try to take their own personal convictions, like when people say it’s not okay for men to get earrings, and try to make that a biblical truth. Me personally I wouldn’t wear earrings but I’m not gonna go to my friend and be like oh you’re a sinner don’t you know blah blah blah. Too many Christians are making Christianity about religion and rules when it’s not about that and I’m happy to see that one of my favorite Christian artists understands that as well. Appreciate you bro! 👍🏿

    I’m so thankful to have seen this. I got a couple tattoos and what some more and they are all in honor to God. I had a few before I was saved too. One is a Pisces sign that I feel convicted to cover. It’s going to have to be a decent size and colored to cover. I figured that since I already have tattoos, going forward I will use them to honor God and be able to share my story with others. I was feeling on the fence and guilty but because of others and I also know that I am still a work in progress and have a long way to go in my journey. I want to honor God for saving me from my addictions and be able to help others do the same. I do think it’s more a cultural thing.

    If I recreate myself then I am glorifying myself. That pertains to anything that I do to my body to change how God created me. Make up, tattoos, piercings, the clothes I wear, etc. where is our heart at? That’s what matters. Sometimes we need to ask God for a new perspective. His perspective. I have tattoos I got before I was born again but now have no desire to get more. I choose to use my freedom not for an occasion to the flesh but to serve others in love. Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

    The full scripture says to not mark yourself in Remembrance of The Dead. People used to mark themselves in order to "connect" with spirits and/or worship false gods etc.
    It's always important to read within the context of scripture as well. Before Moses received these laws the children of Israel had been in captivity to a people who heavily worshipped and practiced sacrifices and rituals to false gods, they had 'rules' on how to worship these gods. So when Moses showed up, they essentially wanted to not have to hear from him on what they should be doing and told Moses to go get the 'rules' from God because they had dealt with a plethora of gods' before so surely they could handle one. They literally demanded rules because they thought that they could handle whatever was needed to find favor with this God. Now know, prior to this, God (Hashem, Adoni, HWVH) had been one of the many gods they worshipped without rules, just the tradition of giving, remembering and celebrating. God told Moses, cool -- they want rules to get on My level? I can do that. Hence Leviticus is really to show the purity of a loving God. Those things are a representation of how pure/ holy God is and it also let's us see how loving and merciful He is and how loving and gracious Christ was in fulfilling every single law everyday of His life and then telling God, 'I'll pick up the tab' and not only that He put to our credit His fulfillment of the law everyday of our lives.
    Yep, He's a good good Father... 😍🤗

      those are good verses, I'm not sure what they have to do with if Tattoo's are a sin or not. Questioning other peoples motives on why they want tattoo's isn't really helpful. maybe giving them some parameters on how to get tattoo's that will honor God and they wont regret.

    • @The_NsideOut
      @The_NsideOut 6 лет назад +3

      Oh, these verses are not me questioning, but for us to examine ourselves. There was no indication of me doing that, because man looks on appearance and only God looks at the heart. What I am say is that if we are relying on our ways and thoughts and not God's which are higher, we will be misguided. Just because we throw God's name or Christianity on our our bodies don't make them spiritual and God honoring. We have to be careful not to use our freedom for an occasion to sin.

      Ruslan KD I Believe it’s a SIN. God is unchanging! His Character from Old Testament didn’t change. Jesus just fulfilled the law that we couldn’t keep. But what God likes and doesn’t like has always been clear. So yeah I suppose like you said to each it’s own conviction. But The Word Of God is the final authority & standard, not our thoughts, feelings, excuses.

    • @RuslanKD
      @RuslanKD  6 лет назад +1

      I appreciate you clarifying it’s not a salvation issue.
      Also would make sense If you explained WHY you thought they were a sin?
      Cuz I’m gathering So you don’t eat medium burgers, shave or consume shrimp? Just curious if you follow the law to T?
      I just hope you’re consistent in that approach. Some people who claim to be disciples of Jesus legit try to keep the law to the T... the Sabbath on Friday’s, etc.
      What about this passage?
      Leviticus 15:19-33
      I’m guessing you aren’t married?
      And your last part about the word of God is the final authority not our “thoughts, feelings, or excuses” can come off EXTREMELY patronizing as if what I’m describing (and most church fathers have believed through out history) is rooted in my emotions. Even if you think tattoos are a sin, you gotta be VERY careful coming off like that.

    • @jzmt1987
      @jzmt1987 6 лет назад

      Ruslan KD Actually NO NEVER Lol. I may have shaved edges off my hair over a decade ago. But any-who to sum it up brother we all fall short in certain areas I’m not condemning anyone with tats I have them myself! My whole point is if the Bible says it’s a sin then it’s wrong. What choices we make after that is on us💯 Are bodies are Temples! I highly doubt marking them up is pleasing to God. But at least these bodies are temporary😂

    • @RuslanKD
      @RuslanKD  6 лет назад +5

      I think there’s a lot of things the Bible says are “sins” that we don’t take literally because of who, when, and why they were written. Again look at the passage Leviticus 15:19-33
      The New Testament is very clear we’re saved by grace through faith (not upholding the law) that’s what this entire freedom Friday series is about. Helping people break out of the bondage church culture (usually rooted in misinterpretation of scripture) places on believers.
      If look at Gal 2, Paul recounts a time he publicly rebuked Peter because Peter was being two faced when around jewish Christians who were pressuring gentile Christians to get circumcised (follow the law) and Paul made it VERY CLEAR Those who are in Christ don’t need to get circumcised or follow the law that was intended for the Jews. This was all debated and settled WHILE the Bible was actually being written. See for yourself:
      “But when Peter came to Antioch, I had to oppose him to his face, for what he did was very wrong. When he first arrived, he ate with the Gentile believers, who were not circumcised. But afterward, when some friends of James came, Peter wouldn’t eat with the Gentiles anymore. He was afraid of criticism from these people who insisted on the necessity of circumcision. As a result, other Jewish believers followed Peter’s hypocrisy, and even Barnabas was led astray by their hypocrisy. When I saw that they were not following the truth of the gospel message, I said to Peter in front of all the others, “Since you, a Jew by birth, have discarded the Jewish laws and are living like a Gentile, why are you now trying to make these Gentiles follow the Jewish traditions? “You and I are Jews by birth, not ‘sinners’ like the Gentiles. Yet we know that a person is made right with God by faith in Jesus Christ, not by obeying the law. And we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we might be made right with God because of our faith in Christ, not because we have obeyed the law. For no one will ever be made right with God by obeying the law.””
      ‭‭Galatians‬ ‭2:11-16
      So there was NO requirement for the gentile believers to get circumcised or follow the Jewish law regarding food... tattoos and Lev 15:19-33 fall in that same category.
      It’s important when we read scripture we interpret with scripture and not what our own biases or what we’ve been taught. I get it, tattoos are very taboo, so is not getting circumcised in western culture. But the New Testament is pretty clear on what law the Bible has in the believers life. Hope this helps.

    Yes, I love how you exaggerate on the point to not place your convictions on others. This is so important because some Christians do this and then they get caught up in legalism, which is just as hurtful as the other side of the spectrum where you say everything is permitted (which is also a no because sin is not ok).
    Another point I will add to your video is that we should look at the original Hebrew text. There it does not say "tattoos" but markings. It was not until it was translated to the English version that it read tattoos. Like you said, we have to conscious of the setting, time and people it was written to. In this case, the Israelites were performing in Pagan worship and were marking their bodies for their ancestors. Nowadays this is not our intentions in getting tattooed. Like you said, if you are going to follow the direction to not get tattoos, not because of conviction but because of legalism, then I sure as well hope you're walking around like Willie Robertson and also not cutting off your beard.

    I would be interested in a video about gossip as I'm still a student and there are nearly always people around me who are gossiping and I'm never quite sure how to react. There are many different approaches when it comes to gossip. Some people say you should avoid gossip completely and confront it directly i someone around you is gossiping, while other people say you're completely fine if you don't make it worse. That's why I don't know how to react if somebody gossips about someone and encourages me to state my opinion. I would like to know how you think about this topic since there are many parts on the Bible about gossip, who are clearly saying you should stay away from it.

    i like these freedom friday topics bro! Keep em coming! TBH I've been wanting a tattoo for a while, and I had an opportunity to get a matching tattoo with my sister (it was going to be a small cross on my hand) We decided on that tattoo because my Dad had given himself that tattoo when he was young. However I decided to turn that opportunity down, because I wasn't very well informed about what the bible touched on it since I always heard of its negativity from the church. I was scared about what would God think about this.(even though on the side i was chewing my medium rare steak lol).
    I was going to get a tattoo of a cross, however I knew in my heart I wasn't really into it. I felt like i was doing it just for my sister and my dad, rather than my own decision. However now I'm considering getting a tattoo maybe sometime soon on my knee. I want to have DREAM JUNKIES on it. That was the OG hip hop group that helped me get into CHH and resonate with life and get closer to God. I believe that it would be a cool story to tell someone too if they asked about it!

    Okay? The verse you read still said don’t practice witchcraft. Maybe it was just a cultural thing. No need to adhere to that. Some people have tattoos, some shave their beards, and I guess some like to play with ouija boards and put blood 🩸 in skateboards. If you have tattoos then why is it wrong if someone else chooses to practice witchcraft? What if I don’t have tattoos and don’t shave my beard, but practice witchcraft?

    This was nice to see to reaffirm what I already knew. A few months back I saw Bryann Trejo post on Facebook that tattoos are a sin, and I commented that my wife has a tattoo referencing a Toby Mac song which she says she was spirit lead to get. Bryann Trejo then told me that my wife is a liar. Then when I informed him about the verse right before it about cutting your hair he got very angry and immediately blocked me. I used to have a lot of his song on iTunes but I decided to delete them all because I don’t like listening to hypocrites.

    Jesus came to fulfill the law but I think he also came to change it. Not all of the old testament laws came from God, even though the old testament may say they did. God is great! Jesus is king! Regarding the steak, the red stuff is not blood but it is something else, though there could be some blood in the meat too. I think Microscopic or small amounts of blood can be in meat even if you try to remove it all. The cows we eat are hung upside down and most of the blood drains out of them.

    I’m still very in-between about tattoos.
    I have tattoos myself. But have stopped getting them. I feel like for me personally it’s a grey area (because the points everyone made are accurate in that..talking about it in context - as to the fact that it does say not to do these things to other gods or to the dead - however, I’m not completely sure that it’s abolished ... I believe what’s always key to add in as well, is motive. What is your motive behind the decision/choice). But to end, if it’s a grey area I tend to not mess around and play it safe lol.
    ** I would definitely like to ask you to talk about **
    The “Men not having long hair” discussion lol.
    Found in 1 Corinthians 11:14 ... I would say let’s probably read the entire chapter 11:1-16 lol.
    I feel like there’s a lot of variables to this scripture... you had Sampson who took the Nazarite vow and grew the longest (locks - in my opinion) because they were supposed to not cut their hair on that vow. Secondly, you had David’s son (Absalom), if I’m not mistaken, the Bible records that his hair was long and needed to trim it time and time again because it would get so long. Lastly, the Bible says Jesus has wooly hair. You Can’t identify that someone has wooly hair without it being seen and having a decent curly afro of some sort (if I’m not crazy 🤷🏽‍♂️)
    I come from a carribean culture that abuses this scripture and wants men to be near bald headed to abide by this verse lml. In addition, length varies in different cultures. But ultimately, we live by the culture of the Kingdom. So, please I definitely would like to hear your thoughts on this topic.

    I did not get what you want to say are you saying it is sin or not

  • @CyberSec_Vin
    @CyberSec_Vin 3 года назад

    Here’s the facts. If you have looked or heard of someone with a tattoo and have judged them then you already committed a sin, only God will judge. There are priests, pastors who even have tattoos.
    In the Book of Leviticus chapter 19 don’t mark your body, don’t cut up your body.
    This is talking about a certain marking on ones body that gives ones self an identity typically
    in terms of tribal identity or like for the dead or something in that sense. Jews were instructed not to do that, our identity is the people in God.
    If your tattoos mean that you are concentrating yourself to something other then God then yes it is a sin. If they are for the dead, then yes it is a sin and don’t do that. If they don’t mean that, they are fine to get.
    Also if you think that way back when people were getting tattoos when the Bible was written then you are wrongly mistaken, but even so there are different interpretations to not marking your bodies or piercing your flesh cause technically Overeating and getting stretch marks on your body from fat would be pertaining to the same thing.
    If you think for one second that our eternal loving father is going to keep you away from him because of ink in your skin then you are also wrongly mistaken, Jesus died on the cross for us, for our salvation. Rev 5:5 Jesus overcame sin and gained authority of man to loosen the 7 seals. A tattoo will NEVER step in the way of that. What you do on this Earth are blessings of God, what you do in your body should be for the Glory of God, truth is we all fall short of that, and yes if we truly repent and ask for God he will come into our lives and help us and guide us, he does not pressure you but he encourages you. My recommendation for a tattoo is something that can give God honor if you will, or something that can lead someone else closer to God or even yourself but always pray and talk to God for answers, he’s the one in power, some of Gods followers are very judgmental and hypocritical because they sin in many other ways as well.
    God loves you, there is not 1 sin he can’t forgive, the Lords sacrifice was too great for us that nothing shall even come near it, nothing can break it, nothing.
    Personally I don’t believe getting a tattoo is a sin in the slightest. My interpretation of it is your body was given to you by God as a blessing just like food that we over eat with, sugars, starches, fats that we like to enjoy ourselves with, our skin overtime ages and gets wrinkly and old, there’s diseases, conditions that also effect the outside of our body’s appearance as well.
    Lastly, The Bible is very Holy, it is Gods love letter to us. If we want to get to know God we should read his words for in them we have strength and Gods words will never wither away. That being said there are many examples in the Bible of how God used other peoples stories to prove points and set the boundary for all mankind and show that if one suffered through something we all can. Also to Glorify himself and set the example of the right ways to live and to be just like Jesus would want us to be. Stubbornness, jealousy, judgement, no faith or a lack of faith, etc, and then living examples in the Bible of how God restored his people and had drawn them away from these sins. There is not one thing in the Bible that talks about someone getting ink in their skin that’s permanent. The Bible does not talk about it in this way.
    I don’t think it is a sin, I am getting my second tattoo soon, the first was of the Lion of Judah from the Bible.
    Don’t pass judgement, what is going to save you is your relationship with God, and your faith in him and his works. If you turn from sin is a test of love, we are put through many trials but when we fail, God doesn’t yell at us, he encourages us to get back up, brushes us off, and with great patience waits for us to do it right the next time. No tattoo is going to get in the way of that we have sinned many times in our lives, why are people comparing what they think is 1 sin to the many they have committed. God hates hypocrisy.

      I think his point was to view that scripture in its proper context. Leviticus 19:26-28 is about pagan idolatrous practices. Israel was called out & surrounded by pagan gentile nations… much of Leviticus was instructing them to not partake in the whoredom & idolatrous practices of the Canaanites, Egyptians, etc

  • @qcobbin
    @qcobbin 6 лет назад +1

    Well scripture is clear in that one verse alone where tattoos are a sin for the dead because of cultures around Israel. So anyone who uses that one verse to justify saying people are in sin because of tattoos are completely off base. However, having tattoos of false gods, that is one I would be more concerned about if the person got them after becoming a believer. Beforehand, I would say that's between the person and the Lord. My question though is why do people who are married feel compelled to push a single person into a relationship or make someone feel that they're less than if they're not? Especially if they are single women, shouldn't we be able to freely live our lives in every season with or without a spouse?

    I’m not trying to hate but just because another Christian does something doesn’t make it right. God love US ALL and in any condition we’re in and you having tattoos gives you an advantage to minister to people with tattoos. But you are biased and choosing scripture that fits with your argument with is exactly what we’re not called to do as Christians. God calls us not to defile our bodies in any way which makes me in the wrong since my ears are pierced. But there’s reasons for everything. God tells us not to have premarital sex to protect us from STDs, pregnancy, and emotional souls ties. God tells us not to defile our bodies in tattoos or piercings to protect us from infection, scarring, and blood transmitted diseases. If you personally love tattoos, awesome! Keep doing you. But tell the whole story especially when you talk about how you eat clean, don’t drink, and don’t smoke to take care of your body. Putting up a piece of art in a church honoring God and putting a butterfly on your shoulder is not the same thing.

      You realize tattoos are extremely sanitary right? Sounds like you might be missing some current information my man. I’d do my research before commenting as if you’re an authority figure. And I’m sure God isn’t mad because you got a piercing 🤣🤣🤣

      I think of myself as an ambassador. And at the end of the day Jesus gave us the most important assignments: love God and love others. The comment was really for people who don’t know the Bible and ask me “what does the Bible say about X” I tell them what the Bible says even if I’ve gone against the scripture or choose to turn a blind eye. Yes I know tattoos can be done safely but so can premarital sex. In the grand scheme of things God will care more that I spread his word than got a piercing but it’s still something he told me not to do that I did anyway 🤷🏾‍♀️

      I appreciate you’re heart and desire for being an ambassador for Christ. Unfortunately you’re missing the understanding of those scriptures and application in terms of what laws were cultural and ceremonial and which laws made God’s absolute standard for human conduct.
      Fornication, sexual immorality, etc are clearly still a sin. That’s based on the New Testament. Acts 21:15-25
      The debate of food, circumcision, and other ceremonial laws was SETTLED in acts 21 and there’s an entire book called Galatians were paul repeatedly rebukes the religious Jewish Christians for holding the Greek Christians to their legalistic standards. Really sit with Galatians 5 and you’ll discover that there was no expectation for the Greek Christians to get circumcised (ceremonial law) like the Jews who later became Christians. Tattoos, medium rare stake, shrimp, piercing all go into that category. How do we know that? Because we see paul and peter both eating food that the Old Testament forbid. WHY? Because those were ceremonial laws for a specific time for a specific people.
      However sexuality immortality is clearly a sin. So you “saying what the Bible says about tattoos” isn’t really saying what it says. It’s completely ignoring Galatians and acts 21 and how the early church formed. This is crucial to believers getting saved and focusing on the main things. Not a bunch of additional rules that weren’t meant for us.

      I’m well aware of those scriptures and what they say. Some argumentative people say that the Bible never explicitly says that 2 unmarried people cannot have sex. It’s only that sexual immorality IMPLIES premarital sex. The Bible only shows positive examples of marriage and when sex should take place. I know how Jesus liberated us from Hebrew law. I approach this the same way when we come across an issue that is not explicitly said in the Bible (I believe that is is by 1 Corinthians. 19-20; 1 Corinthians 3:17) but for the sake of the conversation I’ll say that it’s ambiguous. If someone asked me if they should get plastic surgery I would tell them no. Despite the fact if it’s normal where you live, if tons of Christians have had plastic surgery or anything. I would tell them Psalm 139: 13-18 and how God made you perfect just the way you are. If you were meant to have bigger boobs, big lips, or tattoos he would have given them to you. God makes no mistakes. So if you go and get surgery or tattoos that means you made the choice for yourself personally and not because you think God made you perfect as you are. You needed to add something artificial to either feel pretty or have a “conversation starter” aside from what God thinks is best. And yes tattoos can start conversations and are a medium of “free expression” but did Jesus need tattoos to start a conversation? Did he need them to bring people to God or salvation? Did he need them to connect to the poor or the under represented? No he didn’t! Because God gave him every tool he would need to preach the gospel. Just like God gave us every tool we would need. And to justify tattoos because there is no explicit verse saying “do not get tattoos” and they go against the very nature about God and how he created us uniquely and perfectly. Now I’m never going to stop anyone from getting plastic surgery just like I’m not going to stop someone from getting tattoos. It doesn’t put you in a state of sin, God doesn’t love you any less, but it’s not in alignment with Gods ideology.

      You know many scholars believe based on revelation 19:16 that Jesus will be coming back with a tattoo.
      So if we agree we aren’t to follow the law (and thank God grown men who get saved and are uncircumcised don’t need to get circumcised) then what we’re really talking about is our personal bias. Not scripture. As uncomfortable as both of us maybe with plastic surgery, I think comparing tattoos to plastic surgery is a huge reach. It would be similar to someone wanting to wear make up or do her hair a specific way. It’s not changing the persons body but adding something. Maybe even adding something to look more creative. If a woman (or man) wants to dread or braid their hair, bleach it, and get an undercut or a Mohawk, that’s a pretty big statement. Similar to a tattoo. Many Christians would feel uncomfortable with that but there’s nothing sinful about expression or art.
      In regards to plastic surgery, there are people who lose a ton of weight and need to have skin reduced. Or some people who have very large breast to the point it’s impacting their health and they want to get a breast reduction. Or someone whose been In an accident or had apart of their face deformed. None of these things are sinful. We have dominion over our bodies. We are steward them. But the truth is sugar and processed food is killing way more people than tattoos, hair styles or plastic surgery. Our priorities are off and we’re judging with unjust scales.
      If you don’t want tattoos or don’t want to get any more piercings. Kudo’s to you. Follow that conviction. Just don’t hold anyone else to that standard. And id take it a step further, if someone asks if they should get a tattoo, don’t say no cuz it’s stigmatized to you. Ask them why. And if it’s deeper than “I think they are cool” than let them live.

    if God wanted us to have tattoos we would’ve been born with them

      That’s a straw man argument lol. If God wanted us to shave he coulda made us without facial hair. If God wanted us to wear deodorant he coulda made us not smell or sweat. That’s literally the worst response I’ve heard to this video.

    How you saying that weed is sin, which I don't disagree with, but then justify tattoos because it is convenient for you, since you like them? I personally don't care for using the Old Testament to say it is sin because it is abolished. We are bought with a price by the blood of Jesus Christ, so we are not our own. We are to present our bodies (Holy Temples) as a living sacrifice unto the Lord. Yet, it's not ok to smoke in the temple but graffiti on the temple walls is ok because you like it and is one of the four elements of Hip Hop. Boy stop, that is so hypocritical. You are to die to yourself/ die to your flesh but yet you believe getting a tattoo is edifying to you or the body of Christ? Be real with yourself, I hear you in your video trying to mock people who disagree with you and say we religious. I personally don't care for religion but your defense for tattoos is religious. Let me guess you will go to a Christian tattoo shop while the tattoo artist is tatting you up and preaching to you, hmmm ok. Sounds ridiculous right? What tattoo has ever brought anyone to salvation? Hold up I'll wait... You must not understand from all your reading that we are to live in the spirit and worship God in the spirit. Faith itself is the evidence of things UNSEEN. If you don't understand the spiritual and walk in the spirit then it is you who is simply misled and practicing a religion. What good does all that bible reading profit you if the letter killeth but the spirit giveth life. Go and learn what that means
