first time as EVO participant here : 1st time traveling to USA (from france) for 8 days. the flight was horrible, took more than 24 hours to get to my hotel and I spent more than 48 hours without sleeping at all. Las Vegas is f***ing hot, like the only other time I got such a temperature was when I went to the Reunion. I was with 6 other friends coming from all over the world. The hotel (OYO hotel) was catastrophic, 8/9 elevators were out, and the only functional one ceased to function after a while. considering that we had a friend on wheelchair, yep, not a good start. our room had a broken window, so even with the air conditioning, it was still hot. people in Las Vegas were all super nice and the EVO staff was fantastic, all players were nice. I didn't got a single problem despite participating in 9 different games (GGST, GBVSR, SF6, BBTAG, BBCF, MBTL, MBAACC, EFZ and Idol Showdown). I was mainly focusing on strive and granblue, but did a pretty meh score in both of them despite my 1,5 year of training for this event. I got 1025th with my Bridget and 513th with my Cag. My best results would probably be on Type Lumina (17th place / 43) and Eternal Fighter Zero (4th place / 12). It was fun to just walk in the convention center and just randomly see people like Leffen, JWong or Diaphone, I didn't found you though. I spent a lot of time in arcade machines too and tried games I neved had a chance to (under night, tekken...) also 2XKO. Despite the hotel problem and the temperature, I got an awesome first experience. I was so happy to hear that an EVO france was going to happen, as I thought this EVO was going to be a "once in a lifetime experience" due to how expensive it is to travel from france to USA. now I can just enjoy EVO in my own country and see my friends coming to france too. I'm going to train hard in strive and granblue, I hope I'll be at least in top 64 this time, or even better. I really want to become really good at those games. Oh and, for the first time in my life, I could play Aquapazza with my friends without any lags. 👌
This was my first year at EVO and I had a great time. I really enjoyed the arcade area, being able to try out Fate/Unlimited Codes for the first time. I played a lot of Blazblue and talked to some cool people. I drowned in pools but it didn't stop me from enjoying everything else. I think I ended up missing a lot of stuff I wanted to see due to poor time management on my part, but I'm planning better for next year. The line for the finals arena on Sunday was INSANE. The line stretched all the way across the venue 3 times over. 2 Lines inside the main hall and one out in the hallway. They had the fire marshal announce that they weren't letting anyone inside anymore. I was sitting at one of the screens right outside the finals arena and people were stealing chairs from the nearby setups to sit and watch. By the time I got up to leave people had basically created a second arena with all the chairs.
that strive leak really pissed me off! That would have been one of if not the most hype trailers but ign decided to clout farm and release the vid 10hrs early
I woke up that morning at my hotel and heard there was a leak but avoided it as I was going to be at the arena in like 30 mins. Then of course the friend who wasn't at EVO just posts that shit in discord and I was like bro fuck you dog, I don't even play strive but come on lmfao
It was my first Evo, and besides not being able to go to the arena on Sunday and missing like 4 Tekken sets on line when they told us they were at capacity, it was still fun! Being able to play Senaru in Under Night casuals was awesome, and being in the arena on Saturday for UNI 2 and Third Strike was fantastic. RELOAD
Food/Drink prices in Vegas hotels (or delivery) are really outrageous. Whenever I visit any big city for work or vacation the first thing i do off the plane is go to the local CVS or Walgreens and buy a big case of water and snacks/sandwiches for the whole trip.
Getting sick sucks really bad. Watching from home Evo is becoming the fighting game E3. It has that Christmas feel where everybody is tuned and want to see what's gonna happen.
I actually saw you walking to a commentary booth masked up, I was going to say what's up and ask for a picture but knew something was up lmao. Glad you're feeling better
This was my first EVO and hearing that this was your worst EVO really makes me feel like I missed a lot in the fgc. I've been a long time viewer of the fgc since 2010, a dedicated stream monster if you will, and I have wanted to attend for a long time. To me, the event was breathtaking. edit: Highlight of my trip was meeting Justin Wong and IFC Yipes. The movie night was also lit!!
I got a pic with you at Evo! I’m so sorry tho I didn’t realize you were sick. It was my first EVO and I was so gassed up seeing all the legends I didn’t take it into consideration.
I got handed an advertisement for 20% off the Official Evo Shoes™, while trapped in the 40 minute men's bathroom line during grand finals. Because we couldn't leave the arena.....because we wouldn't be guaranteed reentry to our seats. That felt bad lmao. Other than that this year was still great, but I think mainly because of the players. They all performed amazingly as usual.
This year really felt very special, even on stream. A shame we were deprived of your commentary on Strive top 6, and Nitro's big moment, but I hope things work out in the next events.
I had a great time at EVO this year. Easy walk from the Westgate to the venue, pools went smoothly, I got bopped 0-2 but that's okay, caught KoF and SF3 finals in the arena, then played casuals on the extra setups on Sunday, didn't get into the arena but watched Tekken and SF6 from great seats in the overflow. Sorry you got sick😢 imo it was the best EVO I've ever been to!
Sorry you got sick! I got lucky -- no EVOla for me this time around, and I had a lovely time. I liked how many casual setups they had in the venue, and it was great how the venue was open for all three days. Finals day, I was playing casuals the whole day, which was rad! (though I would have liked to get into the arena for Tekken; they totally flubbed that, not enough seating) ... got out of my pool on winners side and then got rekt in Round 2. Top 10%, not bad. See you at EVO Japan!
Well, the old guy didnt make you sick. The incubation period is too short I think. Probably stress buildup before the flight leading to a weakened immune systemw followed by the flight, the jetlag, and a workday immediately after. Changes in weather are also known to incite throat infection. Good on sajam for putting his foot down. The fever means it was probably strep throat and bacterial throat infection is hella contagious.
This was not only my first evo, but my first ever in person major. I was competing in Blazblue Central Fiction. Absolutely amazing experience despite the awful traveling experience. Made top 33 at my first ever tournament, got to meet some good friends irl for the first time and even got to watch Hayao at first SF3 top six in person. Really hope to go again next year.
"Tekken was pretty boring" Jiyuna get off the codine, the fights were crazy good, no matter what the international story was. No hot takes until you've recovered because you're clearly high on meds. I'm a big fan though and glad you're on the mend. Kick it baby.
I got sick too, I started coughing on the drive back to California, I was in denial, saying that I just had fried vocal chords cos I cheered so much for punk. Then I ran a fever for why whole work week and I was hacking flex for 3 weeks
This year's Evo was weird because it was like, some of the coolest Top 8 Matches I've seen in a long time, but it was buoyed by like, the weakest set of announcements I can remember in the last few years (other than Strive, which was spoiled). I'm ready to see a big shakeup in one game or another.
I feel ya about getting sick at EVO... EVO was so cool to watch from my home but damn, the week right after I fell sick for like 4 days... Hopefully I took my days off from my job but man, I feel like I ruined my vacation
1:30 same happened to us in a flight from Brazil, in the moment the dude (a family from China) took of his shoes the smell was so bad that they asked him to put them back 😂 Heihachi moment was cool though.
EVO was great, I didn’t experience any of the issues some had on Sunday. I definitely loved the SF2 animated movie night with Yipes and Steve after the finals on Saturday. I’ll definitely be back next year to make it 4 in a row, since my first one in 2022.
I got so sick as fuck Monday after EVO. Was in the line for Tekken Top 6 arena, an hour early before it started. The line went across the entire venue space- 3 times and did not get in.
Thanks again for letting me fist bump the plague lord at the airport as you were heading home. EVO was great for me besides being locked in the main arena for 14 hours with 1 bathroom. Looking forward to being there next year with the boys.
I saw it all happen, sorry you Evo wasnt great this year. Tbh Sajam should have done that bit where he had your picture on the iPad next to him, also shoutout to jmcrofts who covered for you and got there on short notice.
First EVO for me. Got lucky getting into the main event. Got there around the time Guilty Gear Strive started and just waited there since I saw the lines it was horrible. Even for the bathroom. For sure taking snacks and drinks next year. But over all very fun experience going to try to go again next year.
Evo was fantastic, but I deffinetly wanted to say hi at the venue. Your my favorite personality in the fgc and I hope to see you getting more opportunities in Japan for engish streams of all the street fighter action going on there. I loved the venue change over past years, and the space is fantastic. The only big problem was the arena set up for finals day. They have a year to fix the problem and they were blasted enough that it should be corrected. They have the space and just need to change up the design for Sunday. As a cosplayer all the fans and the devs were great. We spent alot of time talking to the Arcsys team on sight rocking a slayer outfit all weekend, and i can confirm that leak was brutal. That being said the arena reaction was still insane and seeing it live on the big screen was wow. The highlight was deffinetly hanging out with all the other cosplayers and the Arcsys team and finally getting that Dizzy announcement. We have been waiting for her strive design for so long and will be building the full Necro and Undine wings once they drop the in game trailer and we see what she looks like. Also pools is so entertaining in a tournament that size. So many killers across everygame off stream with crowds cheering. Its a great enviornment. Tons of fans there watching and so many arcade cabinets and events to check out aswell. Looking forward to next year already and I hope to see you there.
@@ANIMEILLUMINATI Its such a great dynamic to see. Also everyone is realizing more and more that fighting games have always had the coolest and best designs out there. Not to mention the personalities and style to match. Fighting games are all about the characters and people play for lots of different reasons but every game makes sure that each fighter is unique in design, attitude, story, and overall vibe. Guilty Gear is the best in my opinion but again seeing the amount of cosplay now and more casual eyes on the events is great. The FGC continues to grow and even if its not big esports money popular like league, the passion and dedication from everyone that keeps the scene alive and thriving is incredible. I love the FGC and your a true one holding it down for years providing an amazing insight into the Japanese scene through your work. Looking forward to next year and thanks again for doing what you do.
Can't really complain. My brackets were smooth. Game saru did great with free play as always. The integrated arena was awesome up until Day 3, but I figured ppl would be camping out so I got a BUNCH done on Sunday. Felt great. Prob the best exp. so far as some going since 2017
You probably know this already, but consuming raw honey and fresh squeezed lemon juice is good for your immune system. I would highly recommend that, because masks don't block 100% of pathogens.
Dude.... after listening to you for 1:18 of our time (mostly my time) I knew you were full of... whateve,Ness. Wtf is this, even? Imma keep riding with you, but this is Tarnishable. Peace & Blessings
So it was you spreading the Vid huh. I felt the tingle in my throat on the second night. Ive been taking care of myself this year so C19 didnt affect me much until i got home and it beat me down. My 1st EVO experience was pretty good. I was shy the first day then met folks on the second and everybody was so nice that opened me up. Went 1-2 at Street Fighter. During the pools people complimented me, that really eased my nerves. However, experiencing Vegas was another ordeal. After 9pm it seems like every fast food place just turns into trash. Fremont Street was alright to see once, but its not really for me. It just feels like you need to come with more money to have a better time in Vegas
The dinky little "arena" was a joke and I did not like being in the convention center as the venue in general. I really tried hard to stay positive but it was a mess this year for me too. Feel better!
The mask does very little to help not infect others, if it does anything its to keep you from getting infected. Washing hands is by far more important and the FGC will never do that.
As someone who watched the stream I'm not a fan of it being top 6 instead of top 8 but that's me but I do like the walk outs for the players and their stats As for stuff like the rock paper scissors honestly cut that or change it with something that's still fun for the crowd steal a page from saejams book and do a will it kill clip lol But all in all I enjoyed evo I loved strive and third strike as someone trying to actually learn tekken now I had fun same for games I don't play like granblue all in all the community is what makes events like evo for me and I love the good vibes so even if there's issues like trailers being leaked the love the FGC has makes it fun
This was my first EVO and my first tourney and the first 2 days were really good but the last day sucked and really added some cognitive dissonance. Played and met some cool people, bought some merch, didn't drown in pools, etc. Not being able to see the main stage in person really sucked though seeing as how that's the main event. I got in line at 1 and left at 6 without being able to enter. Ended up going back to the hotel to watch SF6 through Twitch. Honestly idk if I'll go back just because the last day was so bad
i went with a friend and he saw the leak and told me to just keep my headphones on all day i was fighting for my life for a few hours and it was so worth it (i am the biggest edgerunners dickrider)
Feels awful hearing this again as a video. We'll get EVO next time Jiyuna. Beware of old Chinese dudes that unbuckle their belts mid-flight. Speaking of "again", we need that "Dick riders are ruining FGC beef sets" segment turned into a video ASAP, that was such a good segment that really needs some airtime and should be put out as an important point for people to consider. Just like "Your Locals Are NOT That Serious" video. Good shit to point out. Normie-fy those Twitter keyboard fiends.
EVO was fun again. Convention through Sunday is a great idea, but the in-venue arena was a huge mistake. Mandalay was way better experience and hope it either goes back there or they get a dedicated arena venue again.
So sad I wasn't able to say hi :( Highlight and surprise for me was all the free arcade machines. Had everything from old school fighting games to Japanese rhythm games that you can't play in NA. Getting stage seats was a total mess. My group and I got seats at 9 AM, 1 hour before GB started and stayed there entire day. The stage seats filled up when GGST started and there was miscommunication between EVO staff and venue security. If you left the stage area during break, you needed to either (1) get the person sitting next to you to fetch you or (2) show a screenshot of your seat. Luckily, a kind EVO staff member believed I already had a seat and let me cut the massive line. Not sure how they could improve the logistics, but my advice for anyone who wants to watch finals is to get stage seats really early.
Here I thought everyone on the mic with a cracked voice had a blast over talking, yelling, hyping around the event. Sad you couldn't make it for Top 6. Still rooting for EvoJ after they gave you the gaijin corner?
Went to evo JP this year. Alone, first time in the country and at a major of that size. Didn't encounter a single problem. US evo getting ruined by too many people and money taking priority over celebrating the culture like so many other things in the US. Classic america L.
I'm mad at the careless people who went to Evo with full-blown covid symptoms and gave me covid... thanks. Negative experience here as well... but I like the venue better than Mandalay Bay. Hilton Resorts was nice.
There can only be one Sajam on the mic at a time
Yipes is better

our room had a broken window, so even with the air conditioning, it was still hot.

Dude.... after listening to you for 1:18 of our time (mostly my time) I knew you were full of... whateve,Ness. Wtf is this, even? Imma keep riding with you, but this is Tarnishable. Peace & Blessings
We could've had the legendary sajam Jiyuna duo.. Stupid covid
If Jiyuna doesn't bring the case of Strong Zero, you know something is gonna go wrong 🤣
Justin the goat of rock-paper-scissors
Get well soon sajam
The dinky little "arena" was a joke and I did not like being in the convention center as the venue in general. I really tried hard to stay positive but it was a mess this year for me too. Feel better!
gotta mask up on the plane. people breathing recycled air for 12+ hours.
Next time for sure
Aight you clickbaited me fair and square good stuff
Welcome back to America Jyuna, where people don't know to stay home when they're sick or at least wear a mask out as to not infect others.
The mask does very little to help not infect others, if it does anything its to keep you from getting infected. Washing hands is by far more important and the FGC will never do that.
the seating was a huge issue, they only had around 5000 seats in the main floor.
As someone who watched the stream I'm not a fan of it being top 6 instead of top 8 but that's me but I do like the walk outs for the players and their stats
As for stuff like the rock paper scissors honestly cut that or change it with something that's still fun for the crowd steal a page from saejams book and do a will it kill clip lol
But all in all I enjoyed evo I loved strive and third strike as someone trying to actually learn tekken now I had fun same for games I don't play like granblue all in all the community is what makes events like evo for me and I love the good vibes so even if there's issues like trailers being leaked the love the FGC has makes it fun
Yeah Top 6 stinks!
EVOLA got hands
This was my first EVO and my first tourney and the first 2 days were really good but the last day sucked and really added some cognitive dissonance. Played and met some cool people, bought some merch, didn't drown in pools, etc. Not being able to see the main stage in person really sucked though seeing as how that's the main event. I got in line at 1 and left at 6 without being able to enter. Ended up going back to the hotel to watch SF6 through Twitch. Honestly idk if I'll go back just because the last day was so bad
Yeah the stage situation is a blow up for sure.
Thank you for saving EVO commentators from germs.
No the biggest W that weekend went to me. I got engaged that same weekend in Vegas
Congrats
I felt so bad that how you spent evo man, til next year
i went with a friend and he saw the leak and told me to just keep my headphones on all day i was fighting for my life for a few hours and it was so worth it (i am the biggest edgerunners dickrider)
Nice. If you’re #1 then I’m #2.
Lil Chaiwan sends his regards
Hitman meant for Obama
You’ll definitely have a better time next time at evo Vegas Junior.
If I'm invited.
People out here still raw doggin airplane air?
Never again
Crowdstrike wasted 3 days of my evo trip i only had finals day to show up for. Speed ran artist alley watched some finals.
As a Chinese person, I'm sorry
EVO was fun again. Convention through Sunday is a great idea, but the in-venue arena was a huge mistake. Mandalay was way better experience and hope it either goes back there or they get a dedicated arena venue again.
Think we’re locked in for the convention center for a while
So sad I wasn't able to say hi :( Highlight and surprise for me was all the free arcade machines.
I wanted to play Turf Masters
The hell!? They told you to work despite being sick? They crazy, glad you doing ok Jiyuna
This year’s evo was a good one.
Here I thought everyone on the mic with a cracked voice had a blast over talking, yelling, hyping around the event.
Sad you couldn't make it for Top 6. Still rooting for EvoJ after they gave you the gaijin corner?
Might pass on Gaijin Corner and just IRL Stream next year
@@ANIMEILLUMINATI Oooh nice
Not wearing a mask on an international flight is…. an amateur decision brother.
Learned my lesson
Sajam whooped jiyuna's sick ass 😂
its way too hard to not get spoiled on something
Awww man I was wondering what happened to you. That sucks 🙏🏿
Went to evo JP this year. Alone, first time in the country and at a major of that size. Didn't encounter a single problem. US evo getting ruined by too many people and money taking priority over celebrating the culture like so many other things in the US. Classic america L.
Managers dont care if youre sick lol, even managers in food service or other service industries press their employees for trying to call out sick lol
-JAMALA KARRIS 2025- JAM KURADOBERI 2025!!
Homeboy drinking soda when he is sick!? Who taught him how to take care of himself??
Weekend was ruined, had to treat myself.
Been working through the whole event, could only catch a few rounds of 3rd strike. They were shit. At least you got to meet patient zero.
I'm mad at the careless people who went to Evo with full-blown covid symptoms and gave me covid... thanks. Negative experience here as well... but I like the venue better than Mandalay Bay. Hilton Resorts was nice.
😷😷🤒🤒
Hello Jiyuna.
Sajam took the glory
