- Is Helldivers 2 Dying? I keep seeing this question thrown around at the moment so I've decided to make a video discussing this topic!

I dont think people understand that 20000 concurrent players is beyond healthy for a game like this. You only need 3-4000 players to have a healthy game in this genre and this game will definitly have that.
Absolutely! Look at Darktide and Vermintide... they always feel vibrant depsite having considerably lower numbers than HD2 and DRG!

@@Balgura maybe, maybe not... What I do know is it depends where you are in the globe... I've found that many folks arguments and assessment are flawed cuz they only ever consider their own circumstances... Alas I've to keep repeating certain observations cuz apparently most people never consider those, like: players are homogeneously distributed around the globe, so unless you're one o those in a "highly populated area" the less players playing the game the more an issue it becomes...

Illuminate and Platoon Battle-stations are still in the future, and people keep forgetting that Helldivers 2 is only a 5 month old game the future content and fixes are well on the way.

I still play 2-4 hrs per day, same as I always have. It's a fun grind even at high level with everything unlocked. I have plenty of ways to mix up my loadout and experiment with tactics, and I love dropping into lowbie missions to hand out sweet gear or mechs, or just watch their backs. I am sure I'm not the only one.
Yet another interesting way the game can be played! Love this! The core gameplay loop is just so enjoyable!
Same i absolutely love dropping mechs and shield packs for newer players, gives them a ton of confidence

It’s yellow journalism from some one that has an agenda against HD2 for not adding pride flags etc.
Most players don't realize the majority of its lost player base is from Sony not reinstating the 180+ countries it banned with its stupid push on PSN On top of that no game, no matter how popular it is won't keep its same numbers after months of release. It still has a very healthy player base given everything that has happened there is always going to be a drop in players I am not worried at all unless Sony does something really really stupid, again. A game is not dead until it is dead, right now Helldivers has no competition and the game is only getting better. =:3
But this just factually false. Everyone that bought the game can still play it. If you look at steam charts, the sony drama brought more attention and players to helldivers than made leave. Thats a fact.
In fact, the player count was falling well before the sony stuff. So, the sony drama in all reality might have been a positive for the game lol
The game has no replayibilty and the devs dont know what theyre doing. Thats why the games dying
I had to put down the game because of the constant bugs and crashes. Every update feels like one thing gets fixed but two more get broken.
Love your take on it. I remember the launch being a disaster to get into the queue when the servers were full. The game filled a serious void and offered copious banter

Spot on video, I'm 31 i don't need a game to be a 50 hrs oer week grind. Sure there's stuff I'd love to see added, co op vehicles, more stealth build stuff perhaps with a raid type mode and most unrealistically a mode where i could play as bugs like in gears of war back in the day... But as it is you're right, the game does what it does well, there's no such thing as an "everyone" game and those that try usually feel really shallow and diluted. As long as i have a badass FPS multiplayer preferably with combined arms, a multiplayer racing game, a chilling with mates game and a single player game then I've got something to fit my gaming needs in any given week lol
I agree with you. I think the game will be actively played for a lot longer than most.
Also I would love for them to add a huge community Raid type event on a planet, I think little things like that would keep the player base active and also give the movement and gameplay controls of Helldivers 2 a chance to shine. Like just imagine having a raid that you have to complete with a squad of 10-20 Helldivers storming a giant automaton factory. That would be the coolest thing ever
I'd love to see them do this but I don't think it's possible! I also don't know if it would necessarily be good for the overall health of the game due to it taking away the pick up and play aspect of the game that is so solid! With that being said, it's a really epic notion nonetheless!

The misleading part of the Forbes' title is that Helldivers2 didn't "lost" 90% of its player base, but 90% of concurrent players. No matter if I play the game actively or not, I consider myself a "Helldiver2 player" and I'll support AH and their future work as long as they stay that passionate and brave with their content.

Good video. I find myself doing the same thing, I played Darktide quite a bit when it came out, then switched over to another game. I just recently started playing it again after HD2 got a little stale and Darktide had an update.
Sometimes I'll grow tired of a complete genre and switch over to another one for a while like an RTS or solo story driven game.

It's a really great analysis video Phase, it's absolutely fine for a game to have its cyclical player counts. Horde shooters, even if it's objective focused, is repetitive by nature and normally should only be played moderation to keep it fresh and exciting.

@@PhaseShifter meant it half joking... But yeah, I think too many peeps take this game too much seriously... And I get it, I love the game too, and even if I'm still having fun, I do think the game could in a much better state, and w/ many more players... Alas, even tho this game does a lot of different, good, things in the live service space, as many others B4 it we'll have to rely on LFGs outside the game...
(even tho the Helldivers2 community is generally great inside and outside the game, I was probably very lucky to have found a great corner of the internet w/ folks playing as if the game was launched 2 weeks ago)
I think many players who left are the types that need constant change. We look at the average gamer, they like puzzles and cosmetics, Helldivers does not really offer as many as many other games, and the repetition resembles deep rock galactic, which also does not have a huge player base. In the beginning it was a fun new toy, but as time goes by, they players who love this type of playstyle remain, all others tend to gravitate back to their old playgrounds.

Be more challenging and fun if your shuttle can be destroy and mission fail...we need more capacity on rifle and akimbo Pistol with higher capacity
Malfunctioning SAM site destroys shuttle. You need to repair it and hold off hordes!
Have to admit I lost interest in this one, not enough new content and varied missions to keep the hype going for me. Hopefully will be interested again after several major patches. Cheers!

It's not dying though. The dev team are having a lot of troubles and difficulty with essentially stabilising their product. It's broken for a lot of people. That doesn't mean it's dead or dying. It means that the MOs are harder to do and that's it. We still have more players than lots of games.
5 months after launch and just the simple act of targeting for the spear is finally fixed! Now the whole issues list will be fixed in 2027! Yes, games in a near perfect state! /s

They’re taking too long building up a New faction like the Illuminates but nah the game seems perfectly healthy, I still have fun playing with randoms and the randoms still take the game seriously (satirical of course)
Also Sony just needs to let Xbox have the game already, that will shoot up the playerbase 100fold because the cross platform opportunities are endless
Laughed at your comment about taking it satirically seriously! I'm the same - was having an absolute blast playing the new biome with bots last night. The core gameplay is so on point it makes such an awesome experience!
Boatie people just play way too many hourse of games every day nowadays. That includes me. You want a new faction because you get bored with 200 hours per month, but then also want that faction to be well written and fleshed out with interesting missions. That is not how this works. Quality takes time. People just gulp the juice down way too quickly.

People who keep saying this game is dying are the ones who wish this game to die, they don't like the game and they should leaves the ones who love this game alone.
You know why it’s dying. Apart of PSN issue with the countries that can’t play and the nerfing of weapons in a PVE game, this is not a finished game, they are finishing it as it goes with these messed up patches and updates. The fact that theirs no other modes at all really sucks, would’ve been cool to have a campaign, the coop, and multiplayer mode with a customs mode as well (it’s a huge community it would’ve worked) you can’t customize your Helldivers how you want to, all the warbonds are pretty trash tbh, especially that last one. The caps on Samples and credits. The worst is that CM’s are pushing the lgbt agenda on the discord channel, that’s when I really stopped playing. Idk man, doesn’t relook good for HD
My time is precious for me.. if live servise game provides no new content im gonna play something else.

Who cares….. I play it and that’s all that matters. If the game dies guess I’ll just go outside.
Helldivers 2 is not dying, but it has become way more fun now that it has filtered out players. You can jump into a game of Helldive and probably get a team that works together to clear breaches/drops, bring ammo for the team and overall playing the coop game that it is. Yeah glitches are still there, but a team of some 120 employees can't work out all the issues out in this short amount of time as some other big names can with their 2000+ teams.
