Sreenath S Although I love Gen 5 and Samurott, I understand why people dislike him. IMO I think intelleon is the worst water starter, in terms of design.
Sreenath S Ehh not really... we clearly grew up with gen 4 and 5. I’ve never played a game past ORAS so I’m biased when it comes to gen 4 and 5. Doesn’t really matter anyways unless you play competitively as you won’t have any trouble with most starters in a standard play through. Most of the time the generations that people grow up with will always will their favorite for everything related in those generations.
For me, I had high hopes for Samurott being a fast physical sweeper. Take that 108 Special Attack and turn it to 78, give 20 to Speed and make it 90, what's left goes to Attack making it 110. Buff it with Dragon Dance and a better ability such as Filter, Marvel Scale, Propeller Tail, or Guts.
Don’t forget Swampert does a lot better at gym leaders then Greninja the only reason Greninja has is that x and y are easy if they weren’t so easy it would be a different story Swampert Roxanne Good Brawly. Ok Watson Good Flannery Good Norman Average Winona Ok Tate & Liza Good Wallace Ok While Greninja Viola Bad Grant not as good as you think Korrina Ok Ramos Bad Clement Good (except Emolga) Valerie Bad Olympia Bad Wulfric Good If ash Greninja didn’t exist Swampert would be gold
My ranking before watching the video 8 samurott 7 inteleon 6 blastoise 5 feraligatr (fav competitively) 4 primarina 3 empoleon /swampert 2 swampert /empoleon 1 greninja (frail but fast and hits hard great abilities) Edit: i am choked by empoleon rank 😱
I agree on everything if megas and dinamax are in play, if not i would put swamper under primarina, i fell like swampert is good because of his mega Also i am happy feraligatr if with fav nark because he is my favorite pokemon ever, i wish he was just a little faster and more offensive, but at least dragin dance helps a lot
Trading 2 new weaknesses for 1 immunity and 10 resists isn't a bad trade, in fact is a very good one. Funny how the "supposed" bad typing is also the reason Empoelon is so used, it's a defensive beast. Edit - I can see why Empoleon is so low, based purely on offensive pressure, Greninja and Swampert we're OU for a reason. But having a defensive backbone is also important and Empoleon in this matter excels.
Primarina is the Water Starter Queen in my eyes. Not only is she utterly adorable/pretty with great battle potential, but her good typing allows her to hard counter Greninja really well, a Pokémon I’m not a fan of (someone had to say it eventually). I’m also a fan of the fact that it shares the exact same type as one of its region’s guardians (bonus points for it being my favorite of the Tapus). Finally, and hear me out on this, its Z-Move is a Spirit Bomb but with its voice🤣 Not my favorite starter (jee, a wonder who that could be) but definitely my favorite Water Starter and it was my second favorite starter until a certain soccer playing fire rabbit appeared
plus Primarina is the only water starter that naturally learn's a damaging ice move via level up in Icy Wind, having a move type that strong learned so early at lvl 16 is just fantastic (hell in Ultra Sun I pretty much kept Icy Wind for effectively the whole game until I got the TM for Ice Beam)
My favorite Pokémon is Litten. I love Litten it is an adorable little kitten and it evolves into an amazing cat that fits perfectly with Litten. (Torracat) Incineroar is also the best and most used starter in VGC and it’s design to me isn’t half bad. Litten is my favorite starter and favorite Pokémon. To me Primarina is a alright Pokémon. It is beautiful and majestic. I can see the appeal for her, but I do like other water starters better. But she is amazing
empoleon’s steel type adds 2 weaknesses, but also takes one away, adds 6 resistances, and adds a resistance. not everything needs to set up, empoleon has almost always been a solid UU rocker and pivot for me, should be right under or above feraligatr since gator has always been weak against bulky waters that fester in UU
Because it's a water type.. Which is weak to ground type!!!! That too in a region where one member of the elite four is a ground type specialist and the ace of the champion is a ground type with earthquake STAB Also the steel typing makes it vulnerable against even the fire starter and 4x weak to the grass starter..
We should be talking about megas in gen 8 lol if you don't want him to talk about things not in gen 8 empoleon samurott feraligatr and greninja wouldn't even be on the list

Ayy been waiting for this. Personally mine competitively no alternate forms would be Samurott < inteleon < blastoise< ferraligator < empoleon < primarina < swampert < greninja Have to get used to the new move sets for some of these this gen but overall those are my thoughts, what are yours? Personal shoutout to feraligator being my favorite to use competitively 💦 Edit: nice video bro, actually I’d probably put shellsmash blastoise higher than I did, always had fun using it before too
I honestly disagree with the list. Best/1. Primarina 2. Greninja 3. Blastoise 4. Inteleon 5. Samurott 6. Swampert 7. Empoleon 8. Feraligatr. This is my opinion on rankings.
Primarina is one of my favourite Alola starter Pokemon of all because this pokemon looks more like a female and a mermaid so that's why I chose it as my starter Pokemon in my Pokemon Sun/Moon games and Pokemon Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon Nintendo 3DS before their were replace with Nintendo Switch games were released .
I also like Primarina's design quite a bit; it's elegant, and at the same time, cute as well. Seeing it get blessed with the fairy type is also a selling point in my opinion. Definitely a great Pokemon that I think shouldn't be overlooked.
Primarina is my favorite pokemon of all time simply because it's a mermaid-seal hybrid AND a fairy type. I love things that involve fantasy so the fact that Primarina has some mermaid qualities and a fairy type just makes it my favorite! I'm a recent fan and I haven't played any of the SM games but once I do, definitely picking Popplio. Not sure if anyone would see this but hello if you do.
Very well thought out synopsis. I agree. I had only one minor qualm and thats to each their own opinion. But at the end of the day you explained it so well I saw where you were coming from and still agreed. Good j. Keep it up man. This series peaks my curiosity towards others opinions. Job well done. Keep it up brotha!
@@nickdentoom1173 honestly, I don't use greninja like a bulky attacker, it's defense won't let me. I'd just use greninja as a fast attacker, and then I'd keep momentum with U turn.
Empoleon should be a bit higher IMO. It's a wonderful choice scarf user, suprise outspeeding Garchomp and OHKOing it unless the landshark brought a scarf of it's own. Primarina is the best, especially with the throat spray and sparkling aria. Oh and did I mention it has ENERGY BALL? Great coverage, especially when set up next to gmax lapras or gastrodon
Very good ranking with very good points behind it I would say. Was hoping my favorite Pokemon of all time Swampert would take the top spot, but I can accept why Greninja edge him out! Might take this video into some thought as I love water starters...
I totally agree with this. Swampert is my favorite starter of all time and i couldn't agree more with your decision. Swampert gets really far with its outstanding stats and amazing typing and Greninja barely has it outclassed.
Primarina is a very good starter to use in competitive play , its signature z-move oceanic operetta was so OP to the point were it was broken , 1 shotting everything , even the legendaries and the island guardians
I am also a huge fan of Primarina. Popplio was always my favorite starter from gen7 (though I have to say, there isn't one that I dislike), and I wasn't let down using her in-game. Definitely cemented her spot as my favorite Alolan starter.
I also love Primarina. I use her whenever I play through moon and ultra moon (for some reason she just fits those games better, idk y) and she is AWESOME!! I think she's the best starter to use in Alola cos the fairy typing helps out with the two dragon bosses (one if ur not playing USUM). Plus she's also the best cos of how she does against the Kahuna's. Out of the three Alola starters, Primarina is the only one who has super effective damage against all of them. Popplio gets disarming voice early on by level up which can help against Hala's team, and said move along with other fairy type moves become STAB when u have a Primarina, who can sweep Nanu's team like nothing. Plus her water typing can decimate Olivia and Hapu (tho her fairy type can handle Flygon). Aside from the gender ratio (which should be inverted) I got nothing bad to say about Primarina. She's a beautiful and we'll designed starter and the fact that she's based off a mermaid (my third favorite mythical creature) gives her bonus points for me
Before I watch the vid: Top: Ninja Frog, Mudkip's Final Form Middle: Emperor Pingu, Gex, Bootygator And finally: PriRule34marina, Samurai, Tortoise Edit: Not even close
The best water starter since gen 1 has been switch training that early magikarp into an early gyarados and then having it dominate the rest of the game like a boss
Damn, I’m barely recovering from the sleeplocke, and we’ve already got another video to predict order of. But hey, not complaining, so as tradition goes (weakest time strongest) Samurott, Inteleon, Empoleon, Feraligatr, Blastoise, Primarina, Swampert, Greninja Edit: 4/8. Better than most of my predictions, but still rather meh.
You also forget that Sheer Force removes Life Orb recoil but keeps the boost. So Liquidation, after STAB, Sheer Force, and Life Orb, has 212 base power. Also Jolly Feraligatr with max speed and max attack outspeeds pretty much anything after a Dragon Dance. It's also the only starter that learns an ice type move via level up in Ice Fang.
YEESSSSS!!! Let's go Greninja and Primarina! While Greninja is the most popular Pokemon in the world (as it should be), Primarina is always looked down at. If it wasn't for my strong nostalgia with using Incineroar as my 1st starter, Primarina would be my favorite out of the Alola starters. I am sorry to hear that Inteleon is so weak. I am excited for it's gigantamax form.
It isn't the most popular in the world Greninja is the most loved pokemon by the pokefans that's all the most popular pokemon is pikachu I mean even my grandma know it and she call every pokemon pikachu😅 The most known water type is still blastoise even if it isn't that appreciated
SeanNotSeen the normal ability is good to, since you’re always slightly higher leveled, you’re going to survive hardly but get the boost and then you just obliterate with surf
I've got the same opinion about not sleeping on Blastoise. I'm using it in a draft league my friends and I started for fun, and it wreaks havoc if I successfully get a shell smash up
Agree with everything except the Blastoise placement and Empoleon, imo it should be a bit lower and Empoleon should be much higher but good list overall. And of course great work on the video as usual.
Hang on a second, isn't shell smash on a blastoise kind of dark. I mean, a turtle's shell is basically its spine. If it loses its shell, the turtle would die
Wait, you are saying that that the Steel typing makes Empoleon worse??? What the f*** are you smoking? It adds only a single more weakness, but in place adds a TON of resistances along with an immunity. And it's bulk isn't too bad. Along with it's good special attack, it's a Pokemon that can last a while and do great damage. The steel type only helps it...
When intelleon eventually gets its hidden ability sniper released a set of sniper, focus energy, snipe shot, ice beam, air slash could be really good and I think that alone would push it up to UU and potentially border line
In this video and the grass one , one of my favorite starters by that type is in the bottom 3 and one is in the top 3, with this one being Empoleon and Swampert
If this was based on tiers: 8. Samurott (NU) 7. Inteleon (NU) 6. Mega Blastoise (RU) 5. Feraligatr (UU) 4. Primarina (UU) 3. Empoleon (UU) 2. Mega Swampert (OU) 1. Greninja (OU)
I agree. Empoleon deserves more attention. Plus, I always used it in Platinum, because the Steel typing resisted Fantina’s Ghosts. Yes, I over leveled my starter for the third gym. I also EV trained it, without the Macho Brace, so the higher level is understandable.
I wish Blastoise had a move set that encouraged its great defenses , like I feel the reason they give it so many attacking moves is because of the aesthetic it has in the anime
SU1KUNE I hear ya, but back in previous gens I actually liked playing a defensive blastoise. With moves like scald and rapid spin along with the investing evs it can be quite a tough defender/supporter
Hey, he didn't complain about having to wait for high learn levels in the same breath as discussing their competitive ranking like last time. It's almost as if the Fire Starter video was a mess and this one is objectively better.
But samurott was very good in any unova play through. I faced many difficulties and rematches with gym leaders like burgh, elesa , clay , skyla ,and drayden whenever I chose snivy or tepig. But samurott just sweeped them all . Only problem was elesa nad volt switch.
mysic , can u make a series of teams for each main stream game where all the pokemon will have a max total stat like , all pokemon must have only till 350 total base stat , i think it would be fun to watch :)

alright a Mystic Umbreon video:
MU: Starting things off is Samurott...
Me: NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!
(Edit: Thanks for the likes fellow Samurott and other cool Water Pokemon lovers)
I feel that, then to make things worse the next Pokemon is Empoleon....
I mean, it's painfully obvious that he is the worst water starter.
I’m happy with swampert is one of the strongest because mudkip is my favourite pokemon
I see you are a intellectual like my self
Me too but my favorite is the whole mudkip line

U like Mudkips?
Eoghan Jones same!!!
Literally the only advantage Swampert has over Greninja:
It can (for the most part) take a hit.
Don’t forget Swampert does a lot better at gym leaders then Greninja the only reason Greninja has is that x and y are easy if they weren’t so easy it would be a different story

If ash Greninja didn’t exist Swampert would be gold
Especially from grass
And only one weakness
just switch out of grass types lol
Because of Mega Evolution, the only drawback for Swampert is X4 weak to Grass. Greninja only has Ash Greninja forn and weak to a few types.
Primarina is definetly my favw water starter, it looks so majestic and hits like a truck
Honestly
People who hated Poplio are probably regretting it because Primarina is the most beautiful starter.
Have to deal with two crappy forms to get to glorious Primarina
I personally think it’s one of the worst designs of any starter
My ranking before watching the video
8 samurott
7 inteleon
6 blastoise
5 feraligatr (fav competitively)
4 primarina
3 empoleon /swampert
2 swampert /empoleon
1 greninja (frail but fast and hits hard great abilities)

luxus strauss lol nice, we almost have the same list
I agree on everything if megas and dinamax are in play, if not i would put swamper under primarina, i fell like swampert is good because of his mega
Also i am happy feraligatr if with fav nark because he is my favorite pokemon ever, i wish he was just a little faster and more offensive, but at least dragin dance helps a lot
@@ravinercf it has dragon dance which makes it out speed almost everything
Primarina is OU now so you should probably update that list.
@@g3nd1a69 just because empoleon and greninja are not in the game
Empoleon is my favourite water starter, and at least it's faster than Torterra
being faster than torterra is like saying you are bigger than a mouse and being proud of it xd
Yea but that's not saying much because torterra is literally the slowest starter until now
Trading 2 new weaknesses for 1 immunity and 10 resists isn't a bad trade, in fact is a very good one.
Finally, and hear me out on this, its Z-Move is a Spirit Bomb but with its voice🤣
Not my favorite starter (jee, a wonder who that could be) but definitely my favorite Water Starter and it was my second favorite starter until a certain soccer playing fire rabbit appeared
plus Primarina is the only water starter that naturally learn's a damaging ice move via level up in Icy Wind, having a move type that strong learned so early at lvl 16 is just fantastic (hell in Ultra Sun I pretty much kept Icy Wind for effectively the whole game until I got the TM for Ice Beam)
Bulborb87 “Primarina is the only starter that naturally gets a damaging Ice Move.”
The Totodile line says hello.
Jack Kraljev Thank you! Primarina is my favorite starter, she’s just so pretty and powerful. Second favorite Pokémon of all time ❤️❤️
My favorite Pokémon is Litten.
Unfortunately very bad choice 🤮😣
I'm surprised, he didn't start the video with "We got shirts on sale"
empoleon’s steel type adds 2 weaknesses, but also takes one away, adds 6 resistances, and adds a resistance. not everything needs to set up, empoleon has almost always been a solid UU rocker and pivot
for me, should be right under or above feraligatr since gator has always been weak against bulky waters that fester in UU
Thank you for giving credit for Swampert! He deserves more recognition than he gets, an underrated beast! You'll always be the best to me Swampy! 🧡💙
Swampert, Empoleon and Blastoise are my favs
Mine are primarina samorot and greninja
Greninja Swampert, and Feraligater
Mine is Greninja and primarina. The other ones I’m neutral towards except for inteleon which I despise they ruined sobble’s evolutionary line.
Mines are in order
Blastoise
Primarina
Greninja

Nabam Takar grass does neutral against empoleon
Primarina and Empoleon should be higher, Blastoise should be lower, and why are we still talking about megas in gen 8?
We should be talking about megas in gen 8 lol if you don't want him to talk about things not in gen 8 empoleon samurott feraligatr and greninja wouldn't even be on the list

Fun fact:Samurott is the best pokémon to choose in Pokemon black and white
Primarina is the best, especially with the throat spray and sparkling aria. Oh and did I mention it has ENERGY BALL? Great coverage, especially when set up next to gmax lapras or gastrodon
I LOVE! Swampert and it deserves it's number 2 spot
Very good ranking with very good points behind it I would say. Was hoping my favorite Pokemon of all time Swampert would take the top spot, but I can accept why Greninja edge him out! Might take this video into some thought as I love water starters...
I’m glad I never slept on Blastoise. He was my favorite for years
I totally agree with this.
Primirina: * Has signature sparkling aria *
Lapras: *Oh no you don't!*
I've had the most fun using primarina than any other water starter
Primarina is my favourite
She's a beautiful and we'll designed starter and the fact that she's based off a mermaid (my third favorite mythical creature) gives her bonus points for me
Mine too, I love her so much ^^
Inteleon is my 2nd favorite water starter
Probably because he’s a trained sniper with 300 confirmed kills
Before I watch the vid:
Top: Ninja Frog, Mudkip's Final Form
Middle: Emperor Pingu, Gex, Bootygator
And finally: PriRule34marina, Samurai, Tortoise
Edit: Not even close
primarina near last? blastoise near last? brainded
List is as close to perfect as it gets loving it no room for holes at all nice one
I love Swampert and Primarina. My favorite starters.
I glad you create this video.
Samurott is underrated. Sword ⚔️ dance with a drizzle set up and aqua jet is a solid combo.
The best water starter since gen 1 has been switch training that early magikarp into an early gyarados and then having it dominate the rest of the game like a boss
Damn, I’m barely recovering from the sleeplocke, and we’ve already got another video to predict order of. But hey, not complaining, so as tradition goes (weakest time strongest)
Samurott, Inteleon, Empoleon, Feraligatr, Blastoise, Primarina, Swampert, Greninja
Edit: 4/8.
*sees Swampert in the top three*
Yes! This is why Swampert is my favorite water type.
I love all water starters(that’s what made me main 💧 types), so I definitely agree with the list for sure, especially the top 5 list.
Greninja is awesome in competitive battling, Intellion and Primarina was helpful in my story playthroughs too.
Greninja was once my fav Pokémon, but before and now it’s luxray, but ehm WTAF they pissed on luxray middle stage starters are used as much as luxray
It isn't the most popular in the world
Greninja is the most loved pokemon by the pokefans that's all the most popular pokemon is pikachu I mean even my grandma know it and she call every pokemon pikachu😅

It adds only a single more weakness, but in place adds a TON of resistances along with an immunity. And it's bulk isn't too bad. Along with it's good special attack, it's a Pokemon that can last a while and do great damage. The steel type only helps it...

@Doneilo Chambers Samurott belongs in a different evolutionary line. It just doesn’t make sense coming from the first two.
When intelleon eventually gets its hidden ability sniper released a set of sniper, focus energy, snipe shot, ice beam, air slash could be really good and I think that alone would push it up to UU and potentially border line

The ironic thing is that my favorite water starter Pokémon is Samurott
Hey, he didn't complain about having to wait for high learn levels in the same breath as discussing their competitive ranking like last time. It's almost as if the Fire Starter video was a mess and this one is objectively better.
But samurott was very good in any unova play through. I faced many difficulties and rematches with gym leaders like burgh, elesa , clay , skyla ,and drayden whenever I chose snivy or tepig. But samurott just sweeped them all . Only problem was elesa nad volt switch.
