  • The complete guide to installing aftermarket seats on stock sliders. This is a DIY solution that shows you how to make an adapter to run the stock sliders. My car used in this tutorial is a 1993 Miata and the seats are Sparco Sprint V's. Let me know if you have any further questions!

    Thanks for this video. It simplified things a lot for me. I just used your method to put race seats in a Fox Body Mustang. I used 3/16" thickness and 2.5" width bar stock from Metal Superstore. 2" would have been fine, though.

    I dont get it. Why didn’t you just bolt the sliders to the seat?

  • @AuLKenny
    @AuLKenny 6 лет назад +1

    What hardware did you use for attaching the stock sliders to your plate steel adapter? Was it just normal grade 8 bolts, washers, and nuts?
    I can’t really tell how there was clearance for the two holes that sit under the seat to fit nuts (vs the holes with a tiny bit of clearance that you are tightening by hand in the video). Is there just room between the steel plate and the seat? Those holes aren’t countersunk in any way right?

    • @CashedOutCars
      @CashedOutCars  6 лет назад

      I did countersync some of the holes and used bolts with angled heads to hold them in place to give myself some clearance. Use the highest quality hardware possible to reduce the risk of breaking. Good luck!

    • @AuLKenny
      @AuLKenny 6 лет назад

      I see that you countersunk the four holes for attaching the adapter to the seat.
      But what about the four holes for attaching the adapter to the stock rails? Did you use hex nuts and normal hex bolts for those four? Or did you somehow countersink a couple there too? Having a hard time understanding how you managed to get a nut between the adapter and the seat for the stock rail attachment.

    what hardware did you use to attach the adapter to the seat? Did you re-use stock slider hardware to attach slider to adapter? The diagram you put up, are the driver and passenger side seats the same? I have a 95, and if I'm correct, I should be able to measure out your diagram and mark my adapter, prior to measuring my own seats and sliders? thanks

    • @CashedOutCars
      @CashedOutCars  3 года назад

      I believe I used the stock hardware for that, to be honest it's been a LONG time since I made this video. My seats were slightly different due to manufacturing tolerances, so I'd confirm the dimensions on yours before using the exact same pattern on both. Good luck!

  • @Wxshy

    Also , is there a way to install a harness without a roll cage ? If so please make a tutorial!

    • @CashedOutCars
      @CashedOutCars  8 лет назад

      +ItsWxsh it is possible but it's actually safer to run stock seats and seat belts if you don't have a roll bar. If you flip with a harness and race seat with no bar you'll be rigid in the car with nothing above your head to protect you which leads to bad things

    • @thequestfortheride

      though to answer your question, yes, you can go on many websites like CJ pony parts or corbeau.com and buy bolt in harness bars that bolt to factory seat belt points

    Is it necessary for each adapter to be a single piece of steel or could you use a section for the front bolt and one for the rear bolt? I ask because the adjusting levers on the sliders on my 66 Mustang attach to and protrude from a point midway between the front and rear mounting points preventing a one piece adapter from sitting flush.

    • @CashedOutCars
      @CashedOutCars  6 лет назад

      I don't see why you wouldn't be able to make an adapter for both the front and rear separately. It might not be as strong though so design with caution.

    • @65sohc
      @65sohc 6 лет назад

      The other option would be to use some washers as spacers to gain clearance between the adapter and the slider. I'm trying to keep the seat (Sparco R100) as low as possible though I probably only need about a quarter inch.

    Nice, I was hesitant to order some for my car because its been hard to find brackets for my car but then I found that you can also just weld your stock mounts to the racing seat ones. After watching this though I'm gonna get 'em lol Also, I have a question. Do you think these are ok and strong enough in case u get in a wreck? Someone told me it might not be as safe but I was thinking the bracket mounts that people buy on ebay are pretty much the same, right? Held on with sheet metal and bolts? Maybe if I did what you did but instead of just bolting them, maybe welded the bolts down too for extra assurance. What do u think? Awesome step by step by the way man. Thanks for the tips! Going to go order some seats for mine right now haha

    • @CashedOutCars
      @CashedOutCars  7 лет назад +1

      +Jav Munguia I think if you use high quality bolts and thick steel like this it should hold up in a crash, but I haven't tested it and hope I never do. Welding could help as long as it's done right. Good luck with your seats!
