Love the Shadows. I've owned three of them and they are all bullet proof and a great quality bike for the price. I now ride a VTX which is just basically a bigger Shadow. Why jump on the bandwagon when you can get a great looking, dependable and much more affordable bike instead.
I have a Honda VT600 Shadow VLX. It's one of the few modern motorcycles a 70's Windjammer fairing can be mounted on. I did that along with the matching bag's and trunk. It became a light touring bike when I did that. I'm old so it's low seat lets me get my leg over easy. I added a Velorex 562 sidecar to it a couple of months ago because I'm 12 years older than I was when I customized it with the touring gear. Now I can continue riding even longer into my Senior years. Never give up!
Age 76 here, and still riding my 2007 VT600 VLX CD Shadow. Great bike. Had a VT1100, but sold it cause it was getting a little heavy for me. The VT600 lets me keep riding, as I can hold it up.
@@williamarinder8809 It's a nice bike and it's too bad 2007 was it's last production year. The same engine was used in the Transalp which was an adventure bike sold in Europe. It was also popular as a delivery service bike due to it's bullet proof reliably with well serviced bike's exceeding 300,000 Miles of use. I have a little less than 50,000 Miles on mine and it still runs and drives like it was new.
@@n4zou Just put new tires and had the chain lubed on mine. How often do you change the oil in yours. I change about every 4,000 miles on mine, but some have told me I should change at 2,000 miles.
@@williamarinder8809 the service manual says 7,000 Miles if you use Honda oil and filter. I think that's way too many miles myself. I change my oil and filter every 3,000 Miles like all my vehicles except for my antique Soviet Union KMZ Dnepr military sidecar motorcycle. I change the oil every 2,500 Km because that's what's in it's owner and service manual. It has a military type cleanable filter on the end of the crankshaft that spins with it. It slings the oil to catch pockets where particulate matter is captured and held between cleanings, which is done every 10,000 Km. I actually like it. It keeps the oil perfectly clean and looking like new oil all the time. It's actually hard to see the oil level on the dip stick it's so clear and clean even just before it's changed. It never turns black like you would expect. I usually use a blue shop towel and stick the dip stick on it to see where the oil level wets the towel. They used a sidecar motorcycle like mine in the Indiana Jones movie The Last Crusade. The movie bike was changed slightly to make it look like a BMW R-71 military sidecar motorcycle but if you watch RUclips clips of the sidecar clips you will see a valve covers on an overhead valve engine instead of a flat head engine with cooling fins on the ends of the cylinders. They switched to overhead valve head's because they cost less to make and not to increase power. The flat head engine was 750cc so they cut the engine size to 650cc to reduce power and to be honest 650cc is plenty for what it is.
I've been riding mine since 2005 brand new with .7 miles when bought now has 50,379 miles on the odometer no issues with it yet. its the illusion blue and black aero 750 model.
I picked up a 2003 Sabre 1100 with low miles in the summer of 2021. Downsizing from heavier bikes since I'm getting older and mainly just do backroads runs these days. Probably the best handling bike I ever owned over the years. By far the best cruiser for twisty roads. And the low end torque is amazing for an 1100. Great, great mid-size bike.
It is the easiest way to be able to differentiate between closest models- from the same angle. Nice n useful video- subscribed. Though I've riden a couple of shadows- that's about the only one of the ones I like I've never owned. I've owned several Dragstars. Love from SriLanka.
Thanks for subscribing appreciate it, Yamaha Dragstar I love the looks It has plenty of acceleration and the low seat make it easy to stop and get your feet down. Ride Safe brother!
@@GodspeedRides I've owned a few Steeds- I don't like the kind of bicycle like stiff, rigid handle bar. It is not fluid. So it is the last bike on my liked bikes.
I enjoyed this video, love the Shadows! Mine is the C2 Spirit at 2:14 - I make videos of riding it around Australia on my channel and I'm in love with the Shadow series, such a great set of bikes. Thanks for putting this together, was great to watch!
@@muskokamike127 I've ridden halfway around Australia on it with lots of gear and it's definitely got all the power you need and some for fun as well as enough in reserve for overtaking - but if you want a bike that's going to haul quickly at any speed when you twist the wrist, you'll want something with more hp. I think these are tuned down for ultimate reliability, and you can only tune them up for another 10 or 15 hp without going into big $. There's better bikes if power is the priority, but for general cruising - it's right on the money for me. Hope that helps!
@@Nicontrast Oh yeah, that helps a lot. I'm looking for my next bike and don't want something so bike I can't have fun in the twisty back roads but don't want anything underpowered. I like the idea of a shadow because it appears to have the comfort and still be able to be tossed around somewhat. The killer for me is they are literally the same price as a similar year vstar 1100 and VTX1300. When I saw that I thought "are they built out of gold"????
@@muskokamike127 It is a terrific bike to throw around in the twisties, definitely a fun bike for that, and I've had mechanics tell me it's the most comfortable bike they're ridden. A Mustang or other after-market seat and some forward controls make it absolutely perfect for an average frame. Definately a lot less power compared to a VTX1300 or Vstar1100 though. Different experiences I guess. Good luck with your purchase either way! :)

What version is the one at time 3:05 with the low pipes and wide glide look. That one looks awesome... I really like the white sidewall tires. Very classy looking.
I own a 2014 black spirit. Looks nothing like a spirit but looks exactly like a phantom. Anyone have any info on the black spirit. I can find much online about them.
It's a damn shame you neglected to include the best looking and best performing shadow, the 85-86 vt1100c... 9.5:1 compression 78 wheel horsepower, 5 speed..... better than the modern retro looking shadows
I know this is two years old, BUT… The only thing the dealers seem to have are the Phantoms in all black wheels, pipes, engines. I don’t know how they could turn a beautiful bike into something so ugly.
Great vid. Love how you presented the overview Honda Shadow models :)

I love the look of the Phantom. I'm praying they come out with a model with a bigger motor. 1600 maybe. I'd buy one instantly.
Phantom 1600 that would be great.
1600 would be entirely new bike - a Power cruiser. 900-1100cc tops for this frame
2005 shadow vlx 101k miles. 171 psi. Expect another 100k. Runs perfect.
