    During the lecture, Karen van Luttervelt talked about the process of applying design methodologies to solve complex human problems, putting social issues first. She talked about real examples of implementing social design in the Netherlands. She based her lecture on the experience of working at the We are foundation, of which she is a co-founder.
    Speaker:
    Karen van Luttervelt - graphic designer in The Hague. She is one of the eight co-founders of Foundation We Are and has been in the board of the foundation. Within her work, she emphasises on making stories clear and creating outcomes that challenge the viewers perception. She has been working on “We Are Human Rights” project bringing human rights defenders and designers together to investigate the possibilities for design within the field of human rights and the “I defend Rights” Exhibition in Medellín, Colombia. An exhibition allowing visitors to better understand the work of human rights defenders through the power of storytelling. Further, she has hosted workshops on creative thinking and collaborative processes within educational systems and health issues.
