the way do mine is put the clean filter in a Ziploc bag, add the oil and work it into the foam. then just squeeze the excess out and install. I also keep clean filters bagged up.

so say i'm running my saw for 8 hours a day, how often do these things need cleaning? I clean the normal stock filter once a day, how about this one?

There are so many variables ( including the cc of the saw) that it is hard to say how often by the number of hours ( or tanks) you run between cleanings. As we say in the video, as long as there is oil in the element, chances are there will probably be enough airflow so that the saw runs at full power. So the limiting factor is not when you feel the saw bogging down due to running rich (it probably never will) but rather you need to inspect the inside of the filter cage from time to time to see if there is any dust or dirt getting through. If you find some dark specks, then you have exceeded the time interval between cleanings If you ran for 60 tanks of fuel, then check it at 50. You will know the interval before long for the cutting you are doing. If you are in a fire burn with a 66 magnum, it may be 10 tanks, bucking, it may be 100. Usually if the foam element is looking like the ones in the video, it is time to clean it.
