Doug, I always just leave those jet caps completely off. I just use my Husky jest tuning tool on them at that point and it’s not let me down yet because the splines seem to find some sort of grip on the jet needles and “away I go”! But I might just be lucky so far.
got this done to my saw, turned the high idle down a 1/4 turn, and she is a RIPPER. eats right through hardwood. sounds killer aswell. 10/10 recommend.
Wtf, you got lucky with those red caps or I got unlucky, Iv picked Pryed and now moved to torching them to try to melt them out. Mine will not come out for anything, bout ready to throw the whole thing in the trash
Sorry if know this already…There’s an exhaust port, and there’s a muffler. The exhaust port is what the muffler attaches to and they often get port work done to them ie; widening, smoothed/polished. The muffler is sometimes called “ported” but that’s incorrect terminology imo. It “modified” or “modded.” When a muffler is modded, you often add a port or ports, which is simply an extension of the muffler (like a small round tube). And then some just drill the stock muffler larger and add a deflector. Hope this helps👍🏻
Strange how in Europe/uk we have d shape carb screws. I don't bother putting the limiter caps back in. They just get in the way. Wonder if that is the only difference. What's the carb code on yours?
Kinda like when I was a kid, changing the manifolds to headers, wide tires and traction bars, 2bbl to 4bbl intake and carb on the Nova Hotrod...........kinda? LOL ! Love Ya Buddy
I’ve always been told that a saw doesn’t run properly without a muffler because it doesn’t get the needed back pressure, does that small pipe provide back pressure?
@@IndianaDoug cool, thanks for the info. Does replacing the muffler with an exhaust pipe increase the power noticeably? And does the carb need adjustments after it. I know how to replace a muffler but I don’t know sh1t about adjusting carbs 😅
@Donuts_random_stuff think of it as a garden hose. If there’s a bunch of kinks (restrictions), only so much water pressure will be produced and only so much water will be evacuated. Now back to saws, the heat is evacuating quicker without a muffler restriction. In theory a restrictive muffler holds heat in an air cooled motor. The EPA is a big influence on how many of these mufflers are designed also.
Can you help me? I installed the eagan pipe and turned the limiters all the way clockwise til it stops. So from this point on, what's a good starting point for the H and L when starting from scratch for the saw to work well?
Do a cs271 t and compare that to the cs2511t I'll bet you will see a difference between the two saws my friend and show it on utube then let people know the difference I own cs271t and cs355t and dcs2500t if I own the the vs2511t I would have bragging rights to be one and proud of it like you my friend
@@IndianaDoug I just got one of these saws. I'm not a fan of the stock chain, very grabby for safety chain, I plan on switching soon to a non safety chain. A stihl 63 pm3 45 or a OREGON 91VXL045G. Thanks for the vid.
I love the mods! Should see some good gains with the muffler and carb being fully adjustable. Those dogs look sweet! Did you do a comparison of before and after?
Hello, I want to do it on my saw, does it give more power? Where do I order the parts you assembled? I would love to receive an answer from you. Do you have Instagram? We will correspond there with your permission. Thank you and Have a nice day .
Nice vid! Thanks for your business! Everything you installed has a LIFETIME warranty
Very cool👍🏻
The muffler gasket was on the muffler side of that metal plate, not against the exhaust port.
Just how I like it👍🏻 heat shield closest to the heat.
@@IndianaDoug Couldnt you just remove the metal plate and put the gasket between your muffler and the exhaust port?
Hope so, I’ve done it several times.
I like the mods

What is the purpose of these mods.
Better performance
I am putting a 2511 back together after it got ran over right now. Lol
Ouch🤣

I liked the video, but would have really liked to see more description of the parts being changed, and how they help.
Noted.
Like the pipe but so loud so just open up stock muff for me. Pretty built up suburbs lota whingin' thanks

Gotta turn them a certain way then pry. Plus they’re kinda locked together.
Is a ported exhaust basically just a straight pipe?

Great vid little run of stock before n people c why. Thanks
Perfect timing. Just got a 2511 today and was wondering how to get to the needles.
What is the second muffler protector you put before fixing the exhaust pipe ?
Muffler protector?
Strange how in Europe/uk we have d shape carb screws. I don't bother putting the limiter caps back in. They just get in the way. Wonder if that is the only difference. What's the carb code on yours?
I’ll need to look. The caps make it much easier to adjust when the saw is running.
Kinda like when I was a kid, changing the manifolds to headers, wide tires and traction bars, 2bbl to 4bbl intake and carb on the Nova Hotrod...........kinda? LOL ! Love Ya Buddy
Exactly😄
I’ve always been told that a saw doesn’t run properly without a muffler because it doesn’t get the needed back pressure, does that small pipe provide back pressure?
Forget what you’ve been told. A muffler “muffles” sound and adds no performance value. On a 2 stroke, only an expansion chamber adds power.

@Donuts_random_stuff also, yes your saw will run a little different if there’s no restriction, retuning is definitely encouraged.
@@IndianaDoug thanks, I am pretty new to chainsaws so easy modifications like that are always fun to learn about 👍
Thank you very much ! Do you have a video that works after installation? How do you adjust the carburetor after installation?
You’ll need to adjust by ear. These carburetors are small and will require a bit more fuel after modifications.
What tools are needed for the muffler upgrade?? Socket or bits??
Bits
great little instructional video, love to know the difference, sound, power ???
Thank you. I’ll make an update video
just curious why you put the orange limiter sleeves back in? Wouldn’t it be easier to adjust them without the sleeves in?
That’s just it. Putting the “sleeves” back after nipping off the stops, allows you tuning screwdriver to guide in easier.
@@IndianaDougI’m getting my saw this Friday. Can’t wait to do these mods. Already have the Egan pipe and dawgs
Can you help me? I installed the eagan pipe and turned the limiters all the way clockwise til it stops. So from this point on, what's a good starting point for the H and L when starting from scratch for the saw to work well?
All saws tune slightly different. Start at 1 full turn out on both, and fine tune from there.
👍👍

I only have a 355T and that saw spanks the 2511T. But the 2511 is way lighter and that’s more ideal when climbing, so I get it.
Please also sell this muffler on Allegro.
Nice video!!!!🙏🏿🇺🇸🪓
Thank you 🙌
What chain are you running?
That was the stock 3/8 lp chain. I’ve since changed it to a more aggressive 3/8 Stihl chain
