In the industry, we call "The Feynman Technique" when you're alone "Rubber Ducky Programming/Debugging". You tell your rubber ducky (or action figure, plant, etc.) either what you learned, what you're stuck on, or talk through your program to figure out where you screwed up. It's very helpful, even if you don't write it all down.
Thanks for this! I'm starting computer science at uni in 2 weeks, and I'm really nervous because I've never studied it before. These videos make me feel a lot more well-prepared!
I just discovered your channel yesterday. Comp Sci major too. You are very articulate about your thoughts on the topic. I've watched several productivity videos but this is the first Comp Sci note-taking video I found interesting. You're awesome. Thumbs up.
1. always take notes if you are focusing and write it down. 2. writting brings clarity 3. make your own examples 4. have diagram flow charts in notes 5. note down new and unique eg. and aspects during lecture
This channel proves that almost nobody seeks to improve knowledge through the internet. Just look at the number of subscribers. The creators of meaningless content have more than 1 million subscribers. Well, I'm happy to be here =) thanks for the tips, the video was very well edited.
Kudos for making the distinction that "The Feynman Technique" was named after Feynman, rather than created by him. It was actually created by blogger/author Scott Young about a decade ago, who was interested in the various "techniques" Feynman would use for thinking and learning, and tried to capture them in a single Technique. It's surprising how often this is attributed to Feynman himself, especially given that he had so many techniques. Incidentally, it was quite characteristic of Feynman to say, "Use whichever method works!" rather than to promote some particular way of doing something, though he did like to share some of his ways of thinking about things and say, "Maybe this works for some of you too, if you happen to think in the same way I do." I happened to be a regular reader of Scott's blog at the time, which is why I remember this, and like him, I was very interested in Feynman and his particular way of thinking about things. Such a fascinating character.
Thank you so much for making this video. I am currently preparing for my scientist exam in CS domain for BARC and ISRO (I am an Indian) . Both are hard nuts to crack and down the line, both these exams require in-depth clarity and immense knowledge. My BARC scientist exam is in 1 month approx but I was in great dilemma about whether I learnt the concepts or trying to mug up what I am taught word to word. If I end up doing mug-ups then certainly I will fail in both the exams. I was badly looking for someone actually showing how to take notes in CS major that enhance understanding and not copying textbook or professor's words. I found you, fortunately. Man, I have got envy seeing your array notes.. Your notes telling the level of your understanding... Thanks a lot for giving directions..
There is a mistake you have written the way with name "Table of Value" wrong: it is: arrayName = new type{} {val0, val1, ...., valn}; it should be: arrayName = new type[] {val0, val1, ...., valn}; you have used {} instead of []
I like how this is specified for comsci classes (an ece and comcsi undergrad here) just subriscred ! You are very analytical , and it's nice to hear some ideas from other students !! Could you may provide some extra examples of your notes in your blog ? I would like to study how you make them because I really don't know how to study compsci theory and right now I chose to major in computer science (in order to follow tcs ) and I am really stressed about my new classes
Hey Aman. I hope you are ok!. I am a new subscriber to your channel. I hope you can share more videos about this!. Really your videos are very amazing. I am from Peru and I am studying software engineering. I would like you to share with me any recommendations about new popular topics for example AI, IoT, etc. I hope you can read this message. Thank you!
I am anyways doing absolutely horrendously in my 3rd sem cs classes so im thinking why not try this out and put it to test cuz what can go wrong? I literally have nothing to lose lmao. If i dont try something new like this then im gonna be stuck on the same study method ive been using all my life which kinda sucks now cuz im in college, or i use this and actually see for myself. Lets see. Wish me luck lol.
this is stupid. In programming you do not make notes like this. you just google it. if everytime new framework comes you will write notes like this ? that's why we have documentation.
I currently only can afford either a Laptop (wanted to use it for coding) or a surface Go 2 (wanted to mainly use it for note taking, but also like about it that it also can function as a Laptop). I am starting to study computer science in less than a month. What do you think? Which device is more important? Which device would you purchase first? I want to purchase both anyways but can only get one device this month.
Hey! Why don't you share your notes, I mean they are awesome and would be really helpful. If you don't mind please share it in git or somewhere. Thanks in advance :))
This was a really well put together vid. I really like seeing how others take notes for their cs classes cause sometimes its hard to know how to structure them.

I completely agree- I'm not bullish on any technique, but the Feynman technique has been great for me
Absolute gold! I love how concise this is. Definitely opened my eyes to this method of studying

Thanks for watching! I'm planning on making some more videos about specific CS studying tips and there I'll have some more examples of my notes.
Thanks a Bunch , Aman ! It will surely be of great help for my future ahead!
can anyone suggest any youtube channel or any source for studying Data Base Management System
So helpful, thank you!
Great tips, thank you!

@@techworld3043For language and framework taking notes is useless.
But for CS fundamentals we have to take notes to understand the theory.
this is a great video!
Thank you for sharing! and may i know what app you use for notes taking? it looks so clean and nice
Ok, thanks 😊

Hi, what course are you doing what can you be in future? Because i am in year 11 and thinking about going on computer science field
I’m planning on being a software engineer for a little bit until I create some sort of startup
@@AmanManazir oh okay, i am planning to become a machine learning engineer
thank you Aman, i love you.
Thanks for the tips.
What text editor is that?
Hey Aman can you please share your textbooks with us it would be helpful 🙏
Hey I'm asking how much maths or what maths are important for computer science?
In pure math, you should take up till multivariable calculus and linear algebra. You might also want to take some probability and statistics courses.
no
Brilliant tips, thank you bro
No problem 👍
hi, what app you use for note the lesson?
Notion!
In math...I'm always at the lowest grade at the highschool student and I'm not smart enough. Can I become an engineer?
Keep trying, I didn’t do that well in high school either- it’s what you do after that counts
Ali abdaal for comp sci!
That's what I'm going for lol
I cant focus......
What kind of mike is that?
Shure SM7b
clutch
Hey! Why don't you share your notes, I mean they are awesome and would be really helpful. If you don't mind please share it in git or somewhere. Thanks in advance :))
I'm planning on releasing them all in a few months in a collection
@@AmanManazir Eagerly waiting then :)
What is the note taking app you use?
In this video I was using Bear, but nowadays mostly Notion
I'm still not convinced that merely rephrasing something in your own words is a useful exercise.
It’s a test to make sure you understand what you’re reading
@@AmanManazir Hi there, good video. I suppose a nice compromise is only re-stating those things when the concept is unclear or complex or difficult.
This was a really well put together vid. I really like seeing how others take notes for their cs classes cause sometimes its hard to know how to structure them.
Thanks!
Great content. Watching all the way from South Africa. Currently teaching myself how to program. Next year I am going for a degree in CS
Let's do it buddy SA need us
bruh you're gonna need another slash at 5:53 if you want your notes to compile
I will need this in 4 years
Hello buddy
@@Ayesha-gt4qm thanks
I used similar methods to take notes, but this video improved some aspects that I didn't think of. Thanks, man.
o y oy
Omg if you're talking about Richard Feynman
I follow him in Twitter for life inspo
Lmaoo
This guy absolutely sounds like Ali
yo this vid got 10k views? Damn nice
Hey Aman, Just curious, Is your mother language English? You speak English so fluently and logically.
Yes it is, I was born and raised in the USA
Pakistani??
this is my first time watching a guy pronouncing his own name wrong
My family has always pronounced it "Amaan" though I do know people who say it with less stress on the second 'a' haha
I'm about to join CS undergraduate program soon, thank god i found ur channel
Watch this in 2x
you know it
Superb stuff bro continue the good work
You think its a good idea to not take notes and just listen to the lecture?
This guy is the goat all of the videos are so helpful
Damn bro why u so pretty
I really found ur video very informative and meaningful💯, im about to start my CS degree this year 2024👀. Much love from 🇫🇯.
