Raw enthusiasts would criticize even Kirk, because he wore a squat suit when he did the 1000x2. But back then, the gear didn't add that much to your total. It maybe gave you an extra 50lbs on the lift if you were lucky. Just look at the man. You can tell he was stronger than hell. I haven't seen a neck that thick on anyone since.

He said you have to do the same thing, the exact same thing, with your setup whether you are lifting 135 or 935. So I assume in competition he announces a motivational slogan before he attempts his lift???
Yes. He used western periodisation, just one top set. A few weeks at 8 reps, a few at 5 reps, some at 3 reps , then finally a couple of weeks at 2 reps then competed the following week.
Get really strong on compound lifts and hit some accessories secondarily. Build up your upper back, hamstrings, glutes and arm wise long head of the tricep. Just getting significantly stronger will make you thiccc
@@silatguy I'm on a standard 5x5 routine. I'm trying to get a lot of accessories in. Sometimes I do lateral raises, curls, shrugs and things like that.
His elbows point backwards a lot just like mine, people say it's bad form but if it doesn't effect the tightness of the upper back and the chest is still up then the angle of the elbows is irrelevant, looks weird but it has no mechnical negatives, there's no weight bearing on the arms so...
I dont get it. So for his off season he does 3x8 every week for 8 weeks starting at 40-45% and ending at 60-65% of his max? Sounds ineffective but surely worked for him if that's the case.
He is a powerlifter, he got the muscles mass he needs to get the job done. Nothing more, nothing less. That said, still got a better physique than 99% we can normally see pumping in most gyms

Scary how quiet and articulate he is explaining, almost like a school teacher teaching kids, but when those working sets come, oh man
I just love the sound of some 45's banging together- CT Fletcher
Absolute music to the ears! CLANK CLANK CLANK!
Yep now gym owner want gyms to sound like a library or you get thrown out

Josef, you are putting out awesome stuff dude! You don't see this anywhere else!

Idk if he just does one working set or what? but it's interesting how high his reps were imo.

i hate social media its off season prob why its higher reps

Astonishing. Just astonishing - especially the footage from 5:00 onwards

That level of strong where you warm up by adding another wheel each set.

I had a similar rack, in the instructions they claim, max weight 120 kg, 120 kg my ass jaja

Amazing squat form, unlike 99% of the gym bros who do Lenny reps with weights lighter than he does in this video for his warm ups.

Serious training
Only 1 set of 8 or multiple ones in the off season build up ?
One Hard set is all it takes if you take it to the intensity he does
At 1:14, knowing Kirk, I was expecting this to be sarcasm, and the camera would pan out showing like 8 plates per side 😂😂
Is it correct, that he only practiced one working set with 600x8?

he is referring to his equipped max, so he probably starting with 60-65% and ending around 80-85% of his raw max
And then goes into an 18 week cycle to his comp. Sets of 8 with lower intensity and higher volume builds the base of fitness and muscle mass
