Just to be clear. Even in 2021 this display of strength is unmatched. There are ZERO powerlifters today at 260 bodyweight who can do what kirk did here. Absolutely incredible.
Exactly. Even ones who are the closest can’t do it with the same form. They’re usually sumo squatting or somewhere in the middle of sumo and conventional
@@lovesgibson It pisses me off how a lot of lifters these days try to “cheat” the rules by using ridiculous stances on squats and deadlifts, and using insane arches on the bench press
dan green, kevin oak, kalle räsänen, SSJ bobb, ashton rouska, dennis cornelius, larry wheels are just a few that come to mind that are around the same strength at the same bodyweight. @@punttijulle Dude, none of the guys you listed are doing more than Kirk until they get into the 308s+ lol. For example, Kirk squatted more at nearly 40-years-old than Green, Bobb, Roushka, or Wheels @ 242, in their fucking prime. Only Oak has done more, and that's simply because Kirk never competed raw until 2004, when he was long past his prime, for which he's still only ~30# behind. His squats from his prime are *unmatched* until you get into the SHWs.
I remember those days. I lifted at Maryland Athletic Club back in the 90s too. Could hear Kirk lifting from other side of parking lot somedays... Awesome Gym! Great lifters!!
Did you know Craig Still? He was the huge guy in the black shirt who came up behind Kirk in case he needed help. In a lot of Kirks videos you can see Craig spotting him.
And that.... is how it's done. Unless you are squatting over 7 with out any gear other than your belt, shut the fuck up and learn from this great Powerlifting legend.

Not in Olympic lifting! But overall one of the best. Very impressed with this man

he had 6, but not everyone can go all out intense like that.
Good set of pillars holding that guy up.

when i watch this vid i always put on belt ,suit and knee wraps

The 826 was done at 242, and he was 38 years old. This was at 275 and he was in the best training cycle of his life.
And he tore his right quad on the way down with the 826. He always said he'd have done 850 easy that meet,
"I wanna hold it!"
I cant even squat 363 pounds! Hahaha
YES THATS RIGHT 😂
And even as great as Kirk is, he still acknowledges that the greatest powerlifting marvel is Ed Coan. Lifters in the 80's & 90's were just different.
The last one was a tad higher then the others...but you wont catch me telling him that
