Some of the parts of The Deserter could definitely be shortened a little but it is a important part of Aang learning to grow up and be more responsible.
Since Cho the bounty hunter was casted I doubt this part of the story will be shortened. Keep in mind that every episode of the animated series was 20 minutes. A little change in order of the story since episode 5 spirited away will be about Roku guiding Ong that he has to defeat the fire Lord before Sozin's comet arrives. And then episode 7 will include episodes 17 and 18 about the Northern air temple and Northern water tribe. Would make sense since they named this episode the North. And then the last episode about the battle against the Fire nation at the Northern water tribe.

i could see them having kyoshi help aang in warriors, but not really "meeting" him, kinda like in avatar day, maybe even combining both episodes. i do kinda hope they keep the bond between him and roku
I think the two most likely episodes to be cut entirely are probably "the great divide" and "the fortune-teller". Everything else seems to have ties to characters that have been cast already or are major parts of the story. Edit: Don't see Haru anywhere, but there is a single person listed as earthbender prisoner who is definitely not Haru. I'm not sure what they might do with that episode, but it seems the rest are accounted for purely looking at the cast besides the two mentioned above and "imprisoned".
The fortune teller had one important role. It was the first time Katara started seeing Aang as a potential lover. But they could integrate that into another episode
I wouldn't like if they change the Omashu scene. It's like the key teaching for Aang in orther to learn earthbending. The "wait for the right moment to strike " move
Well the story is already different because Sozin didn’t know aang was the avatar. He also didn’t know that Gyatso was aangs mentor. And in the show the way, he also dies is being surrounded by multiple fire benders and he does some forbid in the air technique to kill all of them which is why his skeleton was found with many fire nation skeletons
I dont mind if the story being different/adjacent. I do mind if sozin knows Aang is the avatar. I do mind him ending Gyatso. I dont mind if they make the monks start killing them when they realize they're being genocided and make Gyatso the most powerful/forst to attack/most courageous. showing that they should fight and kill, ending with the forbidden technique. Or have him backed in a room i guess. During this scene the air nomads send one of the head monks to speak and make peace, firbenders attack, the air nomad doesnt finish his speech, they kill him beofre he can. perhaps the monks have already gotten word that this is what the fire nation is doing (i dont remember the timeline well, if they attacked all nations at once or in an order/all air beinding temples at once) but either way they realize they are getting killed off as the fire nation doesnt stop attacking. Gyatso, as one of the head monks, would change his mind ( with a lot of internal struggle) and fight back, killing off some warriors. Other monks see this and try to fight as well. This pisses off the fire nation (maybe sozin is there but just as the leader, not for Gyatso) this angers him/he becomes more brutal. Realizing who made the monks fight back, Gyatso, Sozin orders his people to kill him. (Clearly too free thinking and courageous to get away). This is where Gyatso leads/entraps a bunch of soldiers and does the forbidden move, killing MANY more soldiers than what is depicted in original atla. We slow zoom to Gyatso's face, we are imagining his thoughts, but it is silent, completely, there is no air in the room so thus no sound (no voice over or imagery of his thoughts. Maybe a tear starting up for good measure or complete peace as he is an old wise monk. I wouldn't know which way to take it, but i lean towards sorrow), and then it fades out. When we come back in, we are at the boat scene.
Also when Aang saw gyatsos skeleton there were no burn marks indicating the fire nation troops didn't do anything to him and it was an act of sacrifice.
I mean I don't think they'll straight up make sozin know aang is the avatar, if he's been raiding every air temple without getting his hands on the avatar is obvious he'll get to the southern one and ask for him, questioning gyatso who's literally one of the masters plus a teacher in the temple would make sense, cause if someone gotta know who the avatar is it's the masters of every temple. and idk I think it'll be cool seeing them fight
Into The Dark could be The Cave of Two Lovers, since it's right by Omashu, maybe they switch it up a bit and go by there after. I know that's season 2 but so is the invasion of Omashu
@@SSC0002well the two characters will be falling in love by the end of the show so the setup has to be there. Also in the cartoon they are never shown kissing so if they want they can get away with it doing it a similar way.
I think if avatar kyoshi appears in the second episode, maybe it's in the form of a flachback explaining how kyoshi island came about, that way they would remove the avatar day episode from season two
2:00 it's not the first time for Aang going in the Avatar state at the southern airtemple. The first time is at zuko's ship in episode 2 when he falls in the ocean.
Imdb has listed that there are ten episodes for the first season. So i’d take this list with a grain of salt although it does make sense and hits all the main story points. I hope one of the missing episodes is called “Rebels” and we get to meet Jet. I also hope another episode is called “Bounty Hunter” and its about Aang and gang running from Nyla and Shurshu. They can also tie that in with Aang looking for a firebending master and Katara discovering her healing abilities
I saw the new photos of the cast in character and it looks good so far, the only one that I'm skeptical on is Zuko but I think it's because he's covered up and we don't get a good look at him.
I was more worried about Aang. Kinda feel they should have gone for someone a bit older? Like yeah, aand was 12 and all, but he does look older than that on the series, and him flirting with katara (if that happens) will be super awkward.
So, it was confirmed that the (at the Tudum event) that the Mechanist has been casted. While I don't think they will include the entirety of the Northern Air Temple episode, I think they may incorporate elements of it into the series. Same with Jet and the freedom fighters, they will be added into the first season, just like I said, perhaps they are not going to include all of the episode. The episodes they may leave out are the fortune teller and the Great Divide. Those two are mainly filler episodes anyway. I don't remember if Bato has been casted, if not, than they may either modify (aka add some elements to it) or take it out entirely. Personally, I do hope that at least the Great Divide is left out because really, that one was such a filler episode. I think a lot of the fandom really did not like that episode from what I've seen. Plus. it contributed nothing to the plot of the overall show.
I don't think Netflix confirmed that they were from the actual show, in their article they only said that it's a look at them in their outfits, they never said it was a screen grab from an episode
I'm really curious about how they would incorporate Ozai's Angels into the season 1 storyline, especially without Toph, but fingers crossed that more of Ty Lee and Mai's arcs will be more fleshed out!
hmmm following what he's speculating in the video, if they do the omashu invasion in season one they could include Mai there, since it's her dad that invades omashu and well.. she's trained for battle too. as for Azula they could make Ozai send her to the northern water tribe raid with Zhao, and to find Zuko or something, idk how they could incorporate Ty Lee aside of in flashbacks from Zuko's backstory though.
What's cool about the two episodes dedicated to the north is that we should get a ton more content from that location than was in the cartoon. There was only roughly an hour worth of content from 3 episodes in the cartoon. This will double that. This will allow Katara time to master bending and Sokka time to fall in love with Yue. I hope they find a way to sneak Jet and Haru in there as well, but maybe they can actually skip that until season 2. Especially Haru because it would make sense to see him in the earth chapter instead of season 1. Maybe they can save Jet for Ba sing se.
Regarding episode 4 they could even sneak the cave of two lovers in there. It was always a secret tunnel to Omashu. Well it could also be a secret cave OUT of omashu. And this is why it's DARK as in the cave is dark as well. I think the second half of episode three we'll see the invasion and perhaps bumi will get captured early on in episode 4 leaving the gang to try escaping.
I believe the episodes that are unfortunately going to be cut are going to be Imprisoned, The Waterbending Scroll, The Great Divide, The Fortuneteller and potentially The Deserter. Both Jet & most of the freedom fighters have been casted, so his episode is staying. While June has also been casted so I am assuming Bato’s episode will still be in the series in some form. The same goes for The Northern Air Temple episode taking place since both The Mechanist & his son have been casted as well. Whereas Hafu, Jeong Jeong & everyone from the Fortuneteller episode (along with the other minor background characters in the other episodes besides these 3) are completely missing. I feel like they might move some things around too and maybe introduce Jet and June earlier in the series in the Warriors episode. While Into The Dark will probably be the Northern Air Temple being invaded since I don’t think they would want to have one big war scene occur and then the Northern Water Tribe happen right after since in the original series they were both canonically right after each other. The NAT episode would also be perfect as that 4th episode in the series to get you really hooked on wanting to continue to watch. I am hoping that they don’t leave out The Storm or The Deserter still since, at least to me, they are both really important episodes in the series, but believe they might have The Storm intertwined with Masks (along with the whole premise of that episode revolving around The Blue Spirit) and maybe have The Deserter as the opening story to that episode.
I might be the minority seeing a lot of comments nitpicking this but I'd really like the opening to be this. Gets right to the point what happened, there were so many events in the timeline like this Genocide that it's left up to your imagination how it went down. It also transitions great into the opening scene we know from the show finding Aang.
What I'm hoping is that Kyoshi is just the first past avatar that is shown and plays a role early in the season but Roku plays a bigger role towards the end of the season
It's estimated that katara was actually training with Pakku for about a month given the timeline with the solstice. Not to forget she also trained with the waterbending scroll for a while beforehand, and even in the very first episode Katara was shown to have very powerful and intuitive waterbending abilities with cracking the iceberg, she just didn't know how to control it properly yet.
i dont think katara mastered waterbending overnight. she was self-taught an practiced a lot with Aang and teaching him prob helped. she also had gone through many fights already where she had to utilize her waterbending and then later when she got a master from the north she was able to learn quicker. after that u could see episode by episode how she was gradually improving.
No Aang and Roku have the closest connection because Roku was before Aang and the Avatars have the closest Avatar connection with their most recent past life
I am pretty sure that it is canon that the current Avatar always meets the last Avatar first and that the last avatar is the easiest to contact, so it would not really make sense for him to meet Kyoshi first even though it would be kind of cool to see her as soon as possible
If Netflix is as great as they have been, they’ll be smart to detail everything and take their time. This is like a reboot of avatar the last airbender they can make this last for a good while and make it a big hit! Like breaking bad or narcos.
I'd be perfectly fine with Katara becoming a master that fast(episode-wise) if they decide to extend the in world time duration. The time Aang and team avatar had to master their skills and defeat the fire-lord was very unrealistic in the animation, which was ofc understandable because it was a show aimed at kids. Now that the show is aimed for a more mature audience it would be more logical to extend the timeline of the story to make it seem more realistic. Which means the time they spend at the North Pole could be for a very much longer amount of time than orignally. That way when they leave the North Pole for season 2 Katara can acceptably leave as a Master. This would also help with the whole "these are actual young actors who will grow a bit through the years of filming".
I feel like there will be something involving the water bending scroll, once they got that she was studying religiously, and all their fights helped her along, and being a student just enhanced her understanding and it turns out she's something of a prodigy.
@@dresdenwarlock7978 Yes, and i think they made that very clear in the animation that she was naturally good at it, as well as hard working. She pretty much became the favourite pupil of an old grumpy master who at first refused to teach her just because he didn't believe in her bending abilities as a woman.
Don't forget that Aang, Katara and Toph were all child prodigies. Even though it is never specifically mentioned, people make frequent comments on how strong of benders they are. Aang became a master at a very young age so this is obvious. Toph was just in her own league at an even younger age. Even though she had a master training het she just invented new tech and self taught to exceed the skill of her trainer. Katara did not have any master to observe or train with for most of her life. I believe it makes sense why her skills were not nearly as impressive as Aang or Tophs. The first ever waterbender she meets is the swamp guys. She self taught most of her skills once she found purpose for it (meeting Aang) and once she finally meets a master and sees what else is possible in terms of waterbending, she just skyrockets.
The reason katara mastered water bending in 3 days is because she had acquired all the prerequisite battles needed to level up while a novice at water bending. And therefore only needed the raw information to get the level up. That was the last prerequisite.
I dont like the whole Sozan killing Gyatso. In the animation it shows that even during the comet arrival Gyatso a master airbender was able to take out multiple fire benders even when they were amped.
I wouldn’t be surprised if they still have gyatso kill other firebenders before sozin kills him to demonstrate his strength. We don’t know a lot of the details but I’m excited to wait and see
The casts are amazing, episode divisions look very good and this whole thing is starting to warm up to me. All I'm saying is my hopes are dangerously high I hope I don't fall too hard.
I don't know, I think Into the Dark will be the last episode. Since moon spirit dies and stuff. That leaves "legends" on the spot. No clue what it would be about. Honestly, it feels like this episode title fits the northern air temple the most, since it can relate to the idea of "LAST Airbender", and that would be a legend of some sort.
Honestly, i don’t mind that the canon is separate between cartoon and live action. Adaptations into live action should not just be adaptation of medium, but of story as a whole. Im so excited for this series, hopefully some new stuff will be added compared to *cough cough * disney live action remakes *cough cough * (excluding cinderella of course)
Only issue I’ve heard being summed up; ”Outfits don’t look worn out, a thing cosplayers wear. They look good.” - I’m scared that this is gonna be crap, but I have only heard good stuffs so far, with minor stuff that isn’t actually a problem.
My theory for which episodes from the animated series will be put in this show: episode 1 (obviously 1-3) episode 2 the Kyoshi warriors, episode 3 king Bumi, episode 4 Haru/Jet/Storm with a little bit scrapping of a few minutes from the original (a little shift in the order of the story where the events of meeting Jet and his crew happens earlier on in the story, episode 5 (7 and 8) episode 6 (13-16 except for 14), episode 7 (17 and 18 that's why it's called North) and the final episode 8 with episodes 19 and 20.
What episode do you think we will see Jet and the freedom fighters since all of their castings were announced for the show? My guess is episode 4 into the dark.
Cutting it down to 8 episodes is not good. I think the show will be good but less episodes is going to hurt pacing. It should be at least 10 but 12 would be perfect

I don't mind some changes if it's better for the flow of the show.
@@naturesfinest2408 from the canon it was a simultaneous attack on the temples and then they hunted down the remaining nomad monks
I agree and there was this rumored casting going around before, and he really looked like that singing guy from The Cave of Two Lovers.
Aaaaannnd Die😂😂 that song always cracked me up
Yeah but Katarra's actress is 17 and Aang's is 13 so that would be a little...
@@SSC0002well the two characters will be falling in love by the end of the show so the setup has to be there. Also in the cartoon they are never shown kissing so if they want they can get away with it doing it a similar way.
@@brosaus I feel like they might do that one later. Mostly because it's earthbending stuff.
Okay, but I am most excited who would be casted as Toph. She must nail it or else 😭
My thoughts exactly!!!!
Aang and Katara were clearly training with Pakku for weeks. It might have been three episodes, but each episode isn’t a single day.
My guy is always on top of the Avatar knowledge! Thanks a million!
I think if avatar kyoshi appears in the second episode, maybe it's in the form of a flachback explaining how kyoshi island came about, that way they would remove the avatar day episode from season two
Yeah i suspect they might merge those 2 storylines?
I hope they do this cause I really don’t like that episode tbh lol
As Ozai was introduced so early, I bet he's calling the Ozai's Angels to go down there to hunt down the Avatar too.
I love your videos
I hate waiting for stuff like this so much!
I have a good feeling about this series; I think it's going to be good.
Daniel Pudi was cast as the mechanist, so I doubt they will just "skip" the northern air temple.
I saw the new photos of the cast in character and it looks good so far, the only one that I'm skeptical on is Zuko but I think it's because he's covered up and we don't get a good look at him.
I was looking more into the actor and he definitely fits the role for zuko
I think sokka's actor is the most controversial right now
I was more worried about Aang. Kinda feel they should have gone for someone a bit older? Like yeah, aand was 12 and all, but he does look older than that on the series, and him flirting with katara (if that happens) will be super awkward.
@@tsonny1104 what's wrong with him?
What is it?
Is it bc he's too handsome?
I see some people complaining about that.
@@Marukanitel There's speculation that he's not actually native
Getting to see the attack on the southern air temple is already taking it to the next level giving us some background I can’t wait.
The cliffhanger of the 1st episode is 100% gonna be them discovering Aang raging when they found out he is the last Airbender
Imagine if by surprise if they make the yue the villian at the end of season 1 or make her a waterbender and aangs teacher
Man, they had better do Jet. That episode and the rest of Jet's arc was really cool.
It is.
It's not. They are just promotional photos, so we haven't seen actual scenes from the show.
I think the second half of episode three we'll see the invasion and perhaps bumi will get captured early on in episode 4 leaving the gang to try escaping.
the finale episode might also give a teaser at whats to come. Probably Azula
Cast photos and what info is out is giving me hope
The design in the tattoos should have been the same as Raava, the spirit of light that lives in the Avatars.
Aangs first avatar state is against zuko's boat, if you dont count the iceberg...
4:26 I always thought it was the right thing to do. It led to 0 people dying on both sides.
Aang’s tattoo are a mix of his show tattoos and the only thing I like from the movie, those sick ass tattoos
Hmmm nope
@@tovolume To me they look like that
@@SCP-469 well to me the tattoo in this upcoming series look much better and stands out and more visible
The North I think could be both the Northern Water tribe, but possibly they could dedicate part of the Episode to the Northern Air Temple
I can see Masks also tackling the "into the storm" plot. So a lot of flashbacks including Zukos Agni Kai
I might be the minority seeing a lot of comments nitpicking this but I'd really like the opening to be this. Gets right to the point what happened, there were so many events in the timeline like this Genocide that it's left up to your imagination how it went down. It also transitions great into the opening scene we know from the show finding Aang.
What I'm hoping is that Kyoshi is just the first past avatar that is shown and plays a role early in the season but Roku plays a bigger role towards the end of the season
keep up the great work you da GOAT
Kind of unrelated but DUDE I have almost all of your background music in a playlist or two! Like damn our tastes are similar asfuq
That’s definitely one of the issues I had with the original. All of them except maybe Aang would become masters in days.
No Aang and Roku have the closest connection because Roku was before Aang and the Avatars have the closest Avatar connection with their most recent past life
IMPORTANT!!! : PRINCESS YUE will be in the live action, she was already casted, meaning they do go to the northern water tribe
Obviously? They gotta do that for the finale.
@@oninoni yes, but the video says that they might not go to the northern water tribe
Im optimistic since One Piece was a success!
This thing's trailer will be the most watched trailer in a long while
It’s in good hands
I am pretty sure that it is canon that the current Avatar always meets the last Avatar first and that the last avatar is the easiest to contact, so it would not really make sense for him to meet Kyoshi first even though it would be kind of cool to see her as soon as possible
If Netflix is as great as they have been, they’ll be smart to detail everything and take their time. This is like a reboot of avatar the last airbender they can make this last for a good while and make it a big hit! Like breaking bad or narcos.
Bumi giving up his city is my fa part brooooo.
It makes me feel bumi is truly a mad genius
Awesome thanks as always
It would be dope if they do the tattoo like the animation would depict spirits.
I truly think the design should glow at the beginning before it all lights up in a solid arrow
I can wait!!❤
I don't know, I think Into the Dark will be the last episode. Since moon spirit dies and stuff.
That leaves "legends" on the spot. No clue what it would be about. Honestly, it feels like this episode title fits the northern air temple the most, since it can relate to the idea of "LAST Airbender", and that would be a legend of some sort.
Can't wait!
Bro why do you sound like penguinz0 with that outro 😂
I love ur videos❤
They were not at the north pole "overnight". They were there for days. Katara had time to "become a master".
Legends... could just be that, the legends of the moon spirit
I would also love them to adapt stuff that would never animated and that were cut out
🤦🏻♂️ Katara doesn’t master it in 3 days. It’s implied they’re at the Northern Tribe for quite a while.
ahh, I will love this show so much. Was kinda bumped it was going to be released in 2024
I wonder if they will keep Sokka's sexist lines in 😂😂😂
Probably and his sister or Yue slap him out of his head for that or that warrior leader might!
Nice Charlie outro
all i gotta say is was on set for this and it seems promising
Katana was practing water bending in the north tribe for almost a couple weeks
I think into the Dark might also be a little of the Storm in the mix of it
They will have it all glow but the designs be a slightly darker tone Im thinking.
so the costumes are really going to look like this 😭 the're so cosplay and clean looking
Only issue I’ve heard being summed up; ”Outfits don’t look worn out, a thing cosplayers wear. They look good.” - I’m scared that this is gonna be crap, but I have only heard good stuffs so far, with minor stuff that isn’t actually a problem.
I am a legend!-General Zhao
Probably why its called 'legend' along with koi fish and the legend of the kuruk.
I think episodes 11 and 14 will definitely be scrapped. 9 mabye. And otherwise they put episode 9 with episode 10 and 12 in episode in to the dark.
And scrap 6
Into the dark makes me think of the cave of 2 lovers
Last time time I check, on average each episode will be around an hour to half an hour long
What episode do you think we will see Jet and the freedom fighters since all of their castings were announced for the show? My guess is episode 4 into the dark.
i think they'll be in Omashu. I have a feeling the mechanist and freedom fighters will be in Omashu and Into the dark
OMFG I'M LITERALLY DYING RIGHT NOW
Cutting it down to 8 episodes is not good. I think the show will be good but less episodes is going to hurt pacing. It should be at least 10 but 12 would be perfect
It's obvious that the episode Masks will have the Blue Spirit and The Storm episodes combined, like hello...
Bruh the dragonfire better be the most beautiful visual in the entire show.
Yes, i just can't wait to see new avatar the last airbender netflix in 2024 way better than The Last Airbender 2010 movie. 😄
Cant wait to watch the show 😭
