I can’t get over how much Dallas’s regular speaking voice sounds like Dante Basco’s. Definitely a great casting choice from that alone- can’t wait to see more of his Zuko!

It's a BIG act to follow, I think they're mostly nervous as opposed to not confident. They have a lot of pressure unfairly put onto them. If it really was a let down, it wouldn't be the actors' faults, it'd be the production team.
I think Sokka's actor has an advantage in his performance playing a character without bending. Unlike other characters that really have to visualize and imagine their SFX bending, Sokka is 95% normal guy and 5% boomerang. He gets to focus on all the fun quirks that make the character, instead of needing to learn a whole martial art + CGI fighting style for every episode. And he is NAILING IT.

I'm pretty sure I read on some official source that they'd be changing the commet arrival from one year to a longer one. It's a shame cause having to do it in 1 year is an important feature of the original history. But we can't have this aang be a thing with this Katara right now ahah Besides that, it gives them more and have more flexibility to try to "improve" some aspects of the story. Like, maybe aang is presumed dead for longer after the day of the black sun, maybe we get more zuko with the gaang as well for example. Some of this stuff can be nice even though not having that 1 year limit can be disapointing to some degree.
I would not be surprised if they changed the comet from coming in one year to in 3 years. And then between seasons it can be Aang and Katara training at the North Pole for a long time and after the fall of Ba Sing Se Aang can be out of commission for longer

awe this actually made me tear up a little! i purposely did not watch any videos or interviews or anything with these actors before and i didnt know them either but seeing and hearing them now for the first time i feel so much relief! Avatar is a show that I ,as a 33 year old hold really close to my heart. its honestly on the same level of harry potter to me nostalgia wise and how much impact it had on me during my childhood. it makes me really happy seeing these young actors i can tell they took this show/job (for them) seriously and ithe actor playing Aang just gives of this radiance of likeabilty. i really hope the show does well ts all about the promo now and if it does these kids will go far!

I'm assuming they were told they HAD to leave the live-action or they wouldn't get the studio-- the timing between both announcements is way too close. Obviously this would never be confirmed, but I haven't believed "creative differences" for one second since that statement was released, and the Avatar Studios announcement confirmed that for me. All that to say I'm confident in the show, even without Bryke.

Great cast, Gordon really has a good sense of what works and doesn't work. When translating content from cartoon to live action. Balance will be the key to a really solid adaption, good stuff from the Avatar.

@@QuatarTarandir Yeah, Bryan & Mike left because Nickelodeon offered them their own studio (Avatar Studios). I'm assuming they were told they HAD to leave the live-action or they wouldn't get the studio-- the timing between both announcements is way too close. Obviously this would never be confirmed, but I haven't believed "creative differences" for one second since that statement was released, and the Avatar Studios announcement confirmed that for me.
All that to say I'm confident in the show, even without Bryke.

And, like, the way it looks, no way they were disappointed after being part of the movie production. They were part of that (though perhaps Shyamalan ignored their input) and it was crap.
In the end, the show will be what it is, and it looks GOOD. I will totally get Netflix for like a month to watch it.

YO IROH AND THE FIRELORD GAVE ME HOPE! I am so glad they picked an actor like Paul, I think he is going to be a great Iroh. The Firelord looks AMAZING. especially compared to the 2010 disaster. I have hope that they will do Sokka justice as well. The actor seems like a good pick.

Great cast, Gordon really has a good sense of what works and doesn't work. When translating content from cartoon to live action. Balance will be the key to a really solid adaption, good stuff from the Avatar.
