The fact that they are calling for a blind actress is phenomenal, as it brings much needed representation into the industry, and realism into the show! But they need to get the casting right! Toph cannot be mid-to late teens. She needs to be young and tiny. So much of her awesomeness is the fact that’s she’s so powerful at a very young age. She’s supposed to be a prodigy.
She still will be small, she's supposed to be the same age as Aang and his actor looks quite young. By the time season 2 will come out these actors will have aged though, and I hear they're doing a time skip so that would give us a canon reason for a slightly older toph. I don't think she'll change that much though.
Well, they are probably going to do a time skip anyway, since unlike with animation, you will actually be able to see the characters aging in the live action.
Toph doesn't show up until halfway through season 2 in the original, so the rest of the cast is likely getting ready to start filming at the end of summer.
Dude we literally said the exact same thing after season 1!! We said we loved it but any mistakes that were made would be okay as long as in the next season Toph is perfect. You can’t mess her up Netflix!!!
It would be cool if they could even have you as a background character or something. It would be a nice homage to one of the biggest and most trusted people on the Avatar Community.
As a great fan of ATLA, I just want them to take their time to create something so creative for the world of Avatar with writing that is more elevated and poetic. Something genius for people to want to lean into and keep talking about or decipher. I wasn't a big fan of the mixed and mashed episodes, very flat and straightforward writing, and predictability. But the one episode that I think they did soo so well on was the one about Zuko's banishment and his crew members. I hope they aren't afraid to do things that may be "too sensitive" and do it in a way that isn't so awkwardly dark like when Grangran took a minute to explain to aang about the war or when Bumi tried to fight aang "to the death" like lets get this thing going!
For earth bending, they should just use styrofoam boulders (like the ones from Star Trek). Also, dig pits where the boulders would be placed, cover it back in dirt, it will make the earth bending look more realistic, especially if there are holes where boulders used to be.
Don’t you guys think Diana really deserves the part? ☺️ Obviously she is a huge fan and she is doing everything in her power to be our Toph. Even if she is not the best out there, I am rooting for her! 😃 Avatar has always been more than just a show. It means so much to us! Wouldn’t it be a great message to give her the part, because Diana just really deserves it? Her efforts should be rewarded! Just like Aang deserved to fulfill his destiny of ending the 100-year-war - after all the hard work he put into it - not by killing the firelord, but by energybending him to his knees peacefully upholding his record of never killing anyone. And no, all the other people who seemed dead after the fights throughout our gaangs journey are alive! They recovered from their fatal injuries. … How? … Well, what kind of question is that? … they just got better, you know how it is … they just recovered… from death… Yes, thats right. They where reborn… by… by… by the Giant Lion Turtle!!! It bent so much energy back into all of them… they just couldn’t die. That makes sense, right? … Yes, it does. … YES IT DOES!!! … Leave me alone, alright? 😂😂😂 … … … Aaaangyway… 😁… Like Katara deserved to master waterbending. Like Toph deserved her fathers permission to be free and travel the world 😜 Like Sokka deserved a master. Like Suki deserved to be treated as a worrior and also a girl. Like Zuko deserved redemption. And yes! Like Aang and Katara deserved each other! ☺️🥲 #kataang 😁 and to all the Zutarians out there, we don’t understand you, but we love you anyway because we are all united be the love for Avatar 😉 However… regarding this ridiculous ship… be warned, in the immortal words of Aang himself, Zach Tyler Eisen: “We don’t talk about that in these parts … It’s all in your head, buddy” 😁 My fellow fans, ATLA has lightness as well as deep meaning, and most importantly so much love! ☺️ Let’s extend some of that love to Diana and support her and all her efforts to become our Toph! 🥰 #dianaisourtoph 😉 #dianatsoy
I an very scared for Tophs character. The way they described her was THE EXACT SAME WAY AS KATARA IN THE LIVE ACTION. "Powerful-but-suppressed" "Fierce warrior". Seeing the way they portayed Kataras character with those cliche descriptions, I hate to say it but they may turn toph into the same character.
Toph was my favorite character since her introduction. I'm with you and pretty positive everyone will blast them if they make a mistake with her character.
She's perfect and if she trains and learns Tophs earth bending style it'll be the iccing on the cake. Her bending style is based on a martial art for the blind, Southern praying mantis, and makes her earth bending scenes unique.
I agree that Diana Tsoy should be cast as Toph. I'm VERY nervous how they're going to portray Toph. The co-creators of ATLA went out of their way to emphasize that Toph uses Southern Praying Mantis form instead of Hung Gar like all of the other earth benders. This is an INCREDIBLY IMPORTANT detail. Diana needs to be able to do that martial art form justice, and the only way for them to make that happen is if they bring back Sifu Manuel Rodriguez.
Toph is my favorite character and Netflix can't mess this up. A less than 2 minute video does not make an audition 'tape'. I think Diana has the good style but is it the right style. Each nation had their own fighting style but Toph was different. After all, she was taught by moles, not people. Diana should definitely be considered but if you watched the show, Toph displays more emotion and facial expression. She shows some expression while delivering her final barrage but when she moved the one guy in to the path of the other guys boulder, I expected a show of devious satisfaction. The 'stone cold' expression won't work. And where's the spit?! If she can show that she enjoys the fight, I wish her the best.
I remember hearing rumors that the nextflix team would not be making Toph blind because they worried it would be "offensive." I am so so glad that, not only is that not true, but they are particularly looking for an actor who is blind or visually impaired. There is so much lack of proper representation of disabled people in media, I am glad they are going about it well here. (assuming their portrayal of toph is true to the original)
I say have the Adult Aang movie comes first before season 2 of Netflix avatar because I know for damn sure it’s gonna take up more time in productions behind the scenes to get everything right and not actually rush s2 and s3. Also if they mess up TOPH I will never forgive Netflix cause she’s one of my favorite characters from the original, I don’t why the age demo of her should be cast mid-late teens when it should be 9-12’s unless of they do find an actor who is exactly like her size but is 15-18😂😂
Thank god they're reducing the use of the Volume. Even with so many screen LEDs around, they're just not bright enough to convincingly fake a sunny day. And they tried and failed sooo often during the first season.
Casting a mid/late teenager doesn’t mean that Toph will be. It’s an age old tradition to cast older actors that can pass for younger to get around minor protection laws and also older actors tend to be more experienced and better actors.

Good luck 🙏 let me know how it goes!

YES to Diana Tsoy as Toph!! ❤
#dianatsoyastoph spread the word
I hope toph is perfect picture character perfect
I'm rooting for Diana actually
Toph cannot be mid-to late teens. She needs to be young and tiny. So much of her awesomeness is the fact that’s she’s so powerful at a very young age. She’s supposed to be a prodigy.
She still will be small, she's supposed to be the same age as Aang and his actor looks quite young. By the time season 2 will come out these actors will have aged though, and I hear they're doing a time skip so that would give us a canon reason for a slightly older toph. I don't think she'll change that much though.
@@aouyiu I thought she was younger than Aang.
Well, they are probably going to do a time skip anyway, since unlike with animation, you will actually be able to see the characters aging in the live action.
Toph doesn't show up until halfway through season 2 in the original, so the rest of the cast is likely getting ready to start filming at the end of summer.
She’ll probably show up in the second or third episode
She shows up in like episode 6 or 7 out of 20-21 episodes.
I clocked so fast Toph!!!!
That Sakka joke😂 they did my boy dirty
Dude we literally said the exact same thing after season 1!! We said we loved it but any mistakes that were made would be okay as long as in the next season Toph is perfect. You can’t mess her up Netflix!!!
I wonder if casting an actual blind person will affect how she's written.
100% the Netflix show is coming out before the adult aang movie
thats a big stretch if the movie plans to come out on time, they would have to be doing cgi while filming
THATS cap, we probably won’t even be getting the show until mid 2026. They are filming later this year.
@@Cjb242-ms8vw That doesn't mean it can't come out in late 2025, so next year. They're not producing it the same way, it won't take as long.
It's been a while dude 😊
It would be cool if they could even have you as a background character or something. It would be a nice homage to one of the biggest and most trusted people on the Avatar Community.
I just saw the actress that Netflix chose...and I really liked her. She's going to be an amazing Toph
It better be spectacular
I swear if Toph miraculously learns sandbending out of nowhere
Toph my fav character of the show.
I support this girl as toph. She seems perfect. If Netflix gets it wrong, I’ll be heartbroken.
I agree Diana tsoy really makes sense
Hopefully, Netflix has put some money aside to pay good scriptwriters.
That's funny lol
Danng diana does sound like her and got her personality too
If you've seen the final season of Sweet Tooth, Nuka would be a great Toph.
For earth bending, they should just use styrofoam boulders (like the ones from Star Trek). Also, dig pits where the boulders would be placed, cover it back in dirt, it will make the earth bending look more realistic, especially if there are holes where boulders used to be.
I thought they had cast Diana Tsoy and I was like of course!! She IS Toph. #DianaTsoyForToph
I think ang and Toph they should be a thing they should be a love of interest between the two of them 0:01
Don’t you guys think Diana really deserves the part? ☺️🥲 #kataang 😁 and to all the Zutarians out there, we don’t understand you, but we love you anyway because we are all united be the love for Avatar 😉 However… regarding this ridiculous ship… be warned, in the immortal words of Aang himself, Zach Tyler Eisen: “We don’t talk about that in these parts … It’s all in your head, buddy” 😁
My fellow fans, ATLA has lightness as well as deep meaning, and most importantly so much love! ☺️ Let’s extend some of that love to Diana and support her and all her efforts to become our Toph! 🥰

#DianaTsoyForToph is perfect 💯
#DianaTsoyForToph!! 🪨⛰️🌏
I love her❤❤❤❤
Yes, that should be Toph.
I care about who they cast as Toph, but I’m even more concerned with the Leaves from the vine scene. They HAVE to get that right!
I kinda understand mid teens (less so late)
I mean Gordon himself is going to be mid-late teens playing Aang by the time we have season 2
There are so many mischaracterization sim this adaptation.
i'm scared too
I'm not going to be worried until I see somethin maybe this one might be different.
She has to be toph!!! I agree, it's crucial the get toph right!
Diana Tsoy made a huge mistake: campaigning for the role. I've never seen an actor actually succeed when they beg for a role.
She fits the role so well tho. I hope she gets it.
she did not beg, she advertised her self, that is what you do as an actor, she showed she's got this
If they do end up casting an actual blind character, I wonder if that's going to affect how she's written.
Toph was my favorite character since her introduction. I'm with you and pretty positive everyone will blast them if they make a mistake with her character.
Where is that first clip from?
(Yeah ik it's not the fire nation's ba sing se drill but just asking)
She's perfect and if she trains and learns Tophs earth bending style it'll be the iccing on the cake. Her bending style is based on a martial art for the blind, Southern praying mantis, and makes her earth bending scenes unique.
#dianatsoyfortoph 💚
Yeah, I agree the young lady from the stunt video would be fantastic. She's definitely got the moves and the smirk down.
#DianaTsoyForToph
I really don't care about the whole age difference.I mean it ain't the age of saka and zuko
DIANA DESERVES THE ROLE
its a long long way to ba sing se and the girls in the city they look so PRETTAY!!!
We making out Ba Sing Sa with this one 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Wouldn't be surprised if they scrapped everything and make Toph a really buff man that uses his screech to see and fight
Toph is my Fav!!!! 🪨
Yes!!! Diana Tsoy!!!! she is the one true Toph
I think it makes practical sense for the actor to be mid to late teens because her appearance won’t change too much between season 2 and season 3
#Diana as Toph.
A role the rock wouldn't miss out 😅
I remember hearing rumors that the nextflix team would not be making Toph blind because they worried it would be "offensive." I am so so glad that, not only is that not true, but they are particularly looking for an actor who is blind or visually impaired. There is so much lack of proper representation of disabled people in media, I am glad they are going about it well here. (assuming their portrayal of toph is true to the original)
#DianaTsoryForToph plss make it happen
oh my god, diana would be perfect
TOPH, I COMMPLETELY AGREE! IT HAS TO BE HER. THE ONE FROM THE DEMO VIDEO. SHE IS WHAT GOT MOST AVATAR FANS HYPED FOR THIS NEW SERIES!

#DianaTsoyForToph is just the best best
Can't wait for empath toph 🙃
Season 2 need atleast 12 episodes
