Angel's overt sexuality is a very common response from SA survivors. It's a attempt to regain some feeling of control over their own bodies and lives. It still doesn't excuse him crossing Husk's boundaries repeatedly, but it's an explanation for his behavior.
*It's called hypersexual and it's disorder that's common for S/A victims. I've also seen theories that Denji from CSA may have it too!* *I'm glad it's getting represented in media without people automatically thinking someone is just constantly h0rny all the time!*
Not just that, there's theories that his saliva is what's used in the drugs he uses and sells. So even when the guys at the bar were trying to date grape Angel, Valentino was involved in the situation.
Notice it's red too. The red smoke from his cigarette, the smoke from his wings, the red poof from the potion poured by the shark into Angel's glass. Val not only sprays it on his victims directly, but seems to sell it as well
Or how he only holds his hands briefly when they start dancing early on. Its very "Okay I'm gonna guide you for a second but I know you can dance" so he lets him go. Makes Angel dancing along even cuter later in the song.
My theory is that he leaves it their intentionally. Remember bro is a master manipulator. Having a situation where someone new to the set can easily cause a major accident that he can easily fix with no actual repercussions is super useful.
Charlie could EASILY wipe the Floor with Valentino. He wouldn't even realise he has been snapped out of existence. But look at his Face when Charlie becomes Demonic and wants to charge at him. He smiles. He KNOWS he isn't even remotly in danger. No one takes Charlie serious. So I hope we get some character development for Charlie that she actually uses her Power for good.
We don’t know if she can, she did almost nothing in the final battle of this season, we know she has power but that doesn’t mean she knows how to use it, and looking at how little she used it after Sir Pentious died I doubt she can actually fight even with demonic powers, if it is used for her development next season that would be great.
Eh. Charlie is more powerful than him for sure, but not by the most massive amount. She isn't really a fighter and when she fought Adam, she got her ass handed to her. She could kick Valentino's ass, but I don't think she's gonna one shot him.
@@karentorresalfaro3371She waved her finger and DUSTED angels, idk how that's nothing. And then against Adam, she stopped using most of her angelic powers and started using her more demonic powers and brute force. Not to mention how Adam has angelic powers but is also one of the winners and is on a VERY different level than the exterminator minions flying around. Against Valentino, the biggest difference between him and Charlie is that only one of them would be risking their permanent end. When Val was wanting to shoot up the hotel, he didn't grab angelic weapons despite Charlie being there, he doesn't haven any immediately on hand at the least. But Charlie doesn't need angelic weapons, just her innate angelic power. I'm doubtful Charlie would win a battle in the studio as Valentino would be manipulative, probably keeping other sinners as body blockers so Charlie can't properly fight without risking permakilling anyone, they'd wind up with a stalemate but Charlie could definetly win if she was willing to let others die.
@@grey8288 Not sure what you mean by "dusted". If you're saying she actually pulverized them then you have to watch the fight scene again. She is only shown to block attacks with her shield and throw some dust/glitter at an angel's face (is that what you were talking about? Because that didn't do damage, only blinded them at worst). And if you mean the "die motherfuckers!" scene then she didn't do any damage there either. She made some fireworks and the approaching angels flew away. The ONLY time she does any sort of damage is to Adam towards the end, using her trident. Even then, it doesn't take him too long to corner her. Now, if she could stand up to Val I am not sure. Powerwise she has the advantage and we've never seen Val actually fight so maybe he's even worse at it than her, who knows. However, she most likely wouldn't kill him, which means, no matter who would win the fight, Val would still be around afterwards to take it out on Angel. He specifically mentions that not even Charlie can do anything against a soul contract.
THANK YOU. You're like the first person to point out how Husk has been sexually harassed. No excuses. Husk's reaction is valid. It's the compassion and seeing past it which makes Husk my favorite. Mostly because I've been Husk.
I’m honestly so glad that the show addressed it too- I was so afraid that they’d continue to use his harassment as a running gag like in the pilot and never talk about it.
BRO I LOVE YOU that’s literally one of the reasons I don’t like Angel much Edit: before you comment about my opinion look at my OTHER comments on this ty
@@ChocoBerry_12 I know that people are sexually abused tend to do stuff like that however him doing that and the fandom as well as the characters ignoring that is what annoys me plus I’m not really someone who enjoys sexual jokes so whenever Angel make any sex related joke I groan so yeah I still really dislike him and that is only one of the reasons
@@littlemissviolet4984 true that’s very understandable he’s my favorite character but like you said you said you don’t like sexual jokes and angel basically makes them like all of the time so I understand why u don’t like him
Over on Instagram a party is being planned for when Val double dies. Potluck and everything (which is slightly sad as the actual VA is rather nice). And yes, that one line, "don't hurt her" trying to shield and protect the Princess OF ACTUAL HELL, should have got Angel Dust directly out of hell on actual expletive TURBO WINGS, which shows us how effed up the system is.
@Mycabbages9 I agree with you Angel is my favorite character but we have to think about what Husk feels too because he probably feels extremely uncomfortable with Angel constantly doing that
@Mycabbages9 That and Angel thinks it's who he has to be. I think Husk confronting him about it in an "aggressively kind" way, y'know saying that "nobody cares how famous or hot he is" was what made his realize how obnoxious he was towards him and actually learning how to respect boundaries, Despite Valentino not respecting his at all. That seemed to be the only way Angel knew how to love. Bc that's the only way he's ever been loved. No hate to Angel though. Him and Husk actually became my favorites after this episode.
@Mycabbages9after episode 4, u notice angel stops his sexually harassing behavior. he doesnt come onto anybody afterwards and doesnt make inappropriate jokes as much as before his time with husk. when he interacts with him, its all genuine.
I love how people notice that Husk extends his hand out for Angel to grab which is basically showing his respect for Angel's boundary but how did no one mention that later on Angel does the exact same thing. It's really in that moment you can see Angel learned it was not right to invade another's space without permission.😭❤❤❤
I love how Husk always holds his hand out for Angel and waits for him to take it. The only time he gets grabby is to save Angel from the date grape guys, but outside of that he always waits for Angel to give consent for hand holding.
the reason why angel is so se-ual is because it's a coping mechanism from being abused and SA'd, his hyperse-ualtity comes from him trying to regain control of himself. Of course, it's not good, and it's making people uncomfortable, but there is a reason behind why he does it
It was at this point me and several others agreed that Valentino deserves to have his head removed from his body. I wish Angel hadn't stopped Charlie from beating his ass. Poison is amazing and Husk Cheering up Angel in Loser Baby is fantastic
If at that point it came to a violent confrontation, Charlie would have badly lost. Valentino is still an Overlord, and one of the group that basically runs the Pride ring. He might not like to show it but he's really powerful. And Charlie at that point was all potential and no power. It took Adam to actually kill Sir Pentious for her to get serious in a battle where every one of her friends was in mortal danger and she was constantly saying "sorry" to murderous angels. And she could tap into her real demonic power only when her father was in danger. I can't wait to see what Charlie is really capable of, but in episode 4 it would have been very one-sided XD (Also of course I can't wait to see Valentino get his well deserved comeuppance XD)
@@TheDahaka1Actually, Charlie is the 3rd most powerful being in hell, due to her being the daughter of lucifer and lillith, who are first and second respectively The reason she was so passive until sir pentious' death was just pure Charlie niceness
Agreed! While we can understand why Angel acts the way he does, and know he's not a bad person, it's still bad actions, and I like when people call out that behavior. Becuase imo, it's not good. Like he said, it's who he feels like he needs to be, to survive the abuse, but there's still nothing wrong with pointing out those behaviors.
Vaggie had just walked in, all she saw was Angel shoving her out of the way as he stormed off from seemingly being upset by Husk. So Vaggie told Husk to fix it. Given her limited context, it was a reasonable reaction. And it turned out to be exactly the push both of them needed to finally connect.
I noticed matthew didn't catch that angel stormed out spesifically because husk called him fake, since husk is very much aware of his facade and angel can't take it. well now you know.
14:53 The reason Angel Dust s3xually har@ses the staff is because when he's with Valentino, he cant be his normal self or he'll probably get beaten up. So if Angel dosen't want to get his ass kicked (literally) then he has to act the way Val wants him to. Its a defense mechanism for Angel Dust, and a way to survive for him. So he picks this up with him everywhere to survive, cause thats how he survives in the studio. Hope this answers your questions Matthew and for anyone else wondering why
Another RUclipsr pointed out how Angel emulates his abuser’s behavior (sexual comments, invading personal space) to feel in control and my brain went galaxy because holy shit that’s so fucking real.
I saw someone else point out that Angel hates feeling rejected and undesirable(probably because he thinks that’s his only value),and that’s part of why he lashes out at Husk. Until their next scene, that’s the first time Husk implies he does consider Angel attractive, only that he wants Angel to be more genuine. And that’s when Angel finally lets his walls down. Even when they’re arguing,Husk pushes the right buttons in Angel for him to express himself more and more truthfully.
2:37 if i had a penny for every time I watched someone react to this and thinking that was Angel's knee, I'd have two pennys. which isnt much but its funny it happened twice.
one thing I admire so much about this episode is just how uncomfortable it is. it's difficult to watch because it isn't meant to be comfortable, it's a very serious topic that is too often romanticised or played down, and it's so important to remember just how terrible it is. great video as always, take care
I will say that it's kind of amazing how well they anticipated that reactors or people who hadn't watched the episode but had heard about it would be warned a bunch about it; then opened the episode with something that looks like it's going to be awful *immediately* only to reveal it's a fake-out. It kind of disarms any defenses you might have had because you weren't expecting the episode to *start* with it, and it was a really clever way to adapt for the current world where a LOT of the people who haven't seen a thing yet will have heard specific warnings and hints of what's going to happen. In the days of shows being broadcast at the same (or nearly the same) time and hard to access outside of that, it was usually a thing they'd have to build up to in previous episodes. Nowadays, the first people to watch a thing form a kind of vague reflection that others can partially understand even without looking up any information. Very smart writing to use that fact the way they did.
THANK YOUUUU. I was cringing so hard when i first watched it and I STILL DO NOW. I’ve never watched or seen anything like that and so that made it a rollercoaster of emotions (at least for me). I 100000000% agree with you.
@herstoryanimated I think it's just when you see something you like God I am so excited for this slow burn even if it going kind a quick based on my experience with the genre
@Chip_The_Cat just did a bit of googling and it's very specifically romantic attraction due to the hormones release (obviously there are other things that can dilate them), that would actually be super cute if they animated this on purpose
The reason angel responds with making everything hypersexual isn't to stop people from asking questions, but he only gets positive attention through sex, so he thinks if people are sexually attracted to him, he either a. Has some semblance of his power back or b. Is worth something to someone. Especially when he says "do you know what I'm worth?" He really thinks his worth is tied to his work.
I think there was a rason that Angel flirted with Husk specifically, and that is _because_ Husk rejected him. He was the 'safe' choice to keep up his persona, but also not _actually_ have anything happen. It isn't any excuse, because he most definitly violated Husks boundaries, but I think that is why he (probably unconsciously) chose Husk in specific. YOu'll notice that apart from one or two comments about how commercially amazing it would be to get down with Alastor in front of a Camera, he never actually makes passes at anyone else. It is Husk and Husk alone, who he knows would never say yes and so he can keep pushing without 'repercussion' in a way (which, obviously, he can't as we see here, but that is probably the subconscious thought process)
There's this mini-theory, or maybe it's canon, that Angel actually fell in love with Valentino before he was asked to sign the contract for his soul, and that's part of why he signed it. It's why Angel sometimes acts romantically with Valentino in the song, although that can also just be stockholm syndrome or a way for him to cope by viewing his relationship with Val as just a toxic situationship. Ofc, Valentino also promised him money for his drug addiction so he would sign, so there's also that.
I also read somewhere (idk how true it is) that val's saliva/smoke has almost a "love potion" effect on people when he uses it and that he may have used it to influence Anthony into signing the contract
@@taylordouthit3397 True, apparently he works in tandem with Vox to market that saliva, so that probably plays a large factor. I saw this recently and it gave me an idea of where Val and Angel might've started off: ruclips.net/video/UBkSv4Tfq7c/видео.htmlsi=7WCRGtpfwkaOm_nF
Sadly that's how a lot of pimps lure in victims. They act sweet and drop love bombs, then they can get you to do what they want because you feel like you owe them.
This episode almost made me cry just because of how genuinely cruel it is. Also angel’s relatable-ness, as for feeling like he need to put on an act to survive
There's a reason why this is the only episode rated 18+ 2:40 Ass actually. It's literally eating ass 6:03 The furry fandom went NUTS over this purple character. It never ceases to amaze me how the fandom can latch on to background characters so strongly 6:21 The only, ONLY time Val made me laugh 6:44 Pheromones 8:12 Yep. Because he knows he can't touch Charlie herself, what with her being royalty and all, but he CAN punish Angel instead. 10:00 Yep. Angel Dust is basically his stage name. 10:37 We all do. Even people like me who love Val as a villain and as a character want bad things to happen to him. 13:00 This part right here, this is such an uncomfortable visual. Can you believe people thought "Looser Baby" was victim blaming?
Really? i didn't even know some people thougt loser baby was victim blaming, and how is that even victim blaming? Husk tells him that he isn't the only one going trough sh-t so that he wouldn't feel lonly in his pain... Like, i really can't understand some people.
@@janesabdelmalak7978 Yep. Before the episode came out, there were leaks and both songs were leaked. People originally thought Poison was glorifying SA(some still do) and that Loser Baby was victim blaming. I assume they misinterpreted the lyrics and though Husk was blaming Angel Dust for all the terrible things that happened to him
@@janesabdelmalak7978 Honestly you don't really need the full context, you just need to actually pay attention to the lyrics beyond the "you're a looser baby" line
10:36 Angel should logically know that Val would never risk attacking Charlie, but as Vaggie pointed out, she never flaunts her power so its easy to forget how powerful she is. And Angel's fear of Val is so ingrained that the idea that Charlie could hold her own against Val or he'd have to risk possibly pissing off the two most powerful beings in Hell doesnt even enter his mind. Plus it starts to show how much Angel has come to care about Charlie, despite his attempts too seem shallow.
the reason angel was mad wasn’t because husk was rejecting his harassment, he was more mad because he was being called fake. he was still decently mad about husk rejecting his advances because he likes being in control in situations like that and husk doesn’t really fall for it
5:50 It's actually the opposite, all of those people are also being exploited/abused by Val, just like Angel is (the only difference is that Val isn't obsessed with them).
Also, any sex workers I've ever met have mostly been absolutely fine, normal people just doing a job they happen to enjoy! Some of Val's workers might not mind what they do, and we don't know if *all* of them are under contract (although since he's an Overlord, probably a LOT are).
"What Angel likes to do is control the narrative or control other people though his advances. But Husk presents a bit of a resistance to that. And that's very intriguing and also somewhat infuriating to Angel"- Blake Roman, Angel's VA. At the end of the day Angel is so deseperate to grasp any sort of control over his hellish existence, that the only way he knows how to is by that one single thing he is been given any kind of worth by others, which unfortunately he ends up believing (and yet he hates himself so much that tries to become less appealing in the eyes of everyone, by self destructing as a form of punishment). Angel doesn't know how to communicate or to connect with people, he has a hard time because his own boundaries literally do not exist in the first place. Husk calling him fake breaks his entire surviving mechanism... and yet acceptance is the very first step trought recovery. No matter how fucked up you are you NEED to accept yourself so you can grow. I also want to remind everyone that after opening up to Husk, Angel completely stops taking any sort of advantage.
idk if you noticed this, but during the second chorus of poison when angel is doing his dance number, there are screens in the background flashing different parts of presumably the scene before the dance scene. an interpretation i saw is that angel’s dance is him disassociating and what’s happening on the screens in the background is what’s *actually* happening to him.
I love that you call out Angel Dust at 16:20 too! I know he's a fan favorite - heck, I like him myself too - but he DID sexually harrass Husker here despite being told multiple times to stop. He really had it coming for him and he was NOT in the right here!
Agreed, which that's why i like about this show is not being afraid to show flaws on characters despite of them having reedemable qualities, Angel isn't a bad person but neither he's a good one, he's in between morally gray one as he's becoming to be a better person.
HuskerDust being platonic or romantic works, but Viv did promise us Angel would get a boyfriend and I can't think of anyone better aside from Husk. We might get new characters in the 2nd season tho, so we'll have to see.
I feel like all angel really wanted to do was be an actor. he never actually refers to him SELF and a p0rn star. he has called himself a celebrity, and the Vaggie corrected him. he called himself an actor, then husk corrected him. i feel like he loves performing, but didn't know what he was getting into with Val.
honestly when i watched the show for the first time, i didn't want HuskerDust to be romantic, but after rewatching the show and rethinking some stuff i changed my mind. Both platonic and romantic would work perfectly imo. There's something more in their relationship than just "fall in love with the savior" trop. Husk doean't really save Angel from anything, he doesn't try to fix him or Val, doesn't try to put AngelDust out of this situation. He's not a rescuer, but he's someone who finally heard real-Angel's voice behind the mask and just let him talk, let him be. Angel found someone who he can open up to (with a bit of a push ofc) without being afraid of being himself. It's not a rescue, but it's a safe space to breathe, and it would not be surprising at all if Angel starts to have feelings for Husk since Husk is literally the first REAL thing that makes actual sense in this masquerade he calls "life". Don't get we wrong, it can be a beautiful platonic story as well, i just wanted to point out that IF it gets romantic it wouldn't be just "you saved me so i love you now" P.S. i guess i changed my mind after looking at my own life. i never went through anything similar to an Angel's situation, but i did feel that everything was fake in my life (including myself) and thought that it needed to be for different reasons. And then i found someone who were more real than anything i've seen, and who saw right through me and heard what i was actually saying even when i stayed silent. This feeling of acceptance is...something for sure. Everything feels right and finally real with them, and, well, it kinda naturally changes your way of being, pushes you to try and find the right way YOURSELF, since now you understand that it CAN be different. i don't think about this person as my rescuer, but they are my everyday motivation and a reminder that real things can be beautiful and worth. This person is my bf and i couldn't be happier about this "love trop" in my life. P.P.S. english is not my first language but i hope i was able to explain my point of view pretty well
Angel probably pushes his boundaries because if Husk rejects him then it’s by his term and he doesn’t have to get his feelings hurt when he gets close to someone like Husk Husk does the same but in a different way which is why he came off like a big grumpy guy when he’s actually a sweet guy Until both let their walls down and saw they’re not so different and they can rely on each other
The way that from that intro scene alone, you can tell that Angel can really act and had Val not exploited Angel the way he did, Angel could've been a legit actor in films.
so thetheory is the poison angel talks about isnt just symbolic but also litteral . cuz val smoke he exhales changes from gray to pink and his spit is pink, and moths do secrete a pheramone to attract mates and val is a moth man. so more then likely yht pink stuff in this ep was somthing val made as well
I love Angel so much and this episode is just so heartbreaking, I can't even watch the animated clip for "Poison" and not only because it's.. You know.. Extremely uncomfortable.. But also because in these scenes, where he dances, the dancing represents him disassociating and on the screens behind him we can see what actually happens, and in the end Valentino drags Angel out of that disassotiation(which I guess kind of helps Angel) and the screen now shows what Angel would want to actually see/happen. It just.. It hurts. It really does
The way Angel was terrified of Val hurting Charlie and was doing everything he could to protect her, including yelling at her to get her to leave so she wouldn't be near him is so heartbreaking. Angel deserves the world. Also the fact that Valentino was also a human being and not just a "demon" somehow makes him even more scary
I love episode 4 but it was the hardest to sit through! when it originally dropped amazon hadn't put in a warning yet so I was not prepared! it is an amazing episode- painful, But amazing! in two episodes they were able to convey the abusive relationship so well- the episode where angel gets all the voicemails from val and specifically this one! unfortunately Val will be seen again. The rest of the season is amazing as well- hope you finish the season . Angel is a spider - multiple arms. Husk is protecting Angel when he stops angel from getting the drugged drink, but also Husk is a bartender so seeing someone try to ruphie is a bigger deal because of his profession as a bartender.
I really appreciate how Mathew called how Angel's behavior to Husk. This ep is so sympathetic to Angel that it's easy to forget that Husk is trapped here, unable to leave even if he couldn't hold off Angel or if Angel pushed farther than harassment. Good call out!
Something I love about this episode is that it doesn't shy away from the horrible, and still makes you feel good and warm and fuzzy on the inside. This show (and helluva boss honestly) is really good at being graphic and disturbing, but also wholesome and a genuine comfort show.
I think Viv's confirmed that Angel and Husks relationship is gonna be a slow burn so I think they will eventually get together romantically, so long as the team is given enough seasons to tell the story they want to
it shows just how terrified angel is of valentino that he thinks he'll hurt charlie. valentino wouldn't dare harm her, he knows the risk. she's the daughter of lucifer and he'd break val into a million pieces if he found out val had touched a hair on charlie. but angel is so broken from what val has done to him that he's genuinely concerned val would hurt charlie. which might also indicate val has hurt people that got in the way of him and angel before
fun fact: angel probably thinks that people can only like him for his body. on top of being hyper sexual as a trauma response, he makes those sexual advances because he thinks that that's the only way people want to be around him
Angel being so worried for Charlie over his own safety is SUCH a green flag for his redemption. It just sucks that he's so clueless as to how much power Charlie has (not that she realizes it either) and could use to help him. I have my head cannon of what I hope happens to Val and am sticking to it. Ppl who've seen the finale may have an idea of what I'm hoping for.
14:51 I agree that Angel was being antagonistic but it hurts to remember that Angel has gotten sexually harassed/assaulted even if he said no for years to the point that it feels normal.
Fun fact: The guns angel dust has come out of nowhere because he has weapon summoning! as the fandom says about it " Angel has the uncanny ability to instantly spawn guns which he can use for combat, mainly pistols, revolvers, and machine guns. However, this ability is somewhat limited as he can only spawn six guns at a time - as much as his arms can carry. "
Yea...i had a friend who made overly sexual remarks, jokes or comments and it would make me and many others in my friend group uncomfortable, but we also realized that it was a coping mechanism he would use to make his past experiences seem less scary or traumatic. We would try to reinforce our boundaries ofc but keeping in mind where this behaviour came from helped a lot.
SOMEONE NOTICED THE OOOOs FINALLY. It's so important to me how Angel, who hogs the spotlight constantly as a coping mechanism, sings backup in that part of the song, subtle to the point that most people STRAIGHT UP DON'T NOTICE, because he feels so safe with Husk
On the one hand, I need Charlie to help Angel, maybe breaking the contract or something, and on the other hand, I need Husk to see what's going on between Valentino and Angel and GET ACTIVE
Fun fact: Viv (the creator of the show) confirmed in an interview that she want to build the relationship between Husk and Angel in Season 2. It doesn’t directly confirm a slow burn between the two, but it is very likely. Especially since the official Twitter account made comments about the ship, like asking shippers how they liked this episode, and “hopefully/fingers crossed” gifs to replies praying the ship to be canon. I also heard that Husk was made by either Viv’s little sister, niece, or cousin to be Angels boyfriend. With all this info, I’d say that it’s likely for them to start dating either at the end of season two or beginning-mid season three. I personally hope they get together in season three because I absolutely love a slow burn between two idiotic smitten dorks lmao
Angel’s sexual posturing is his way of asserting that he’s confident and in-control. He seems to do it to purposefully make Husk uncomfortable, so he has the upper hand against someone he feels sees through him and thus makes him feel defenseless. Obviously it’s unhealthy, but it’s oh so sad. His mask (Masquerade!) is what keeps him from forming relationships with people who could help him, but that’s on purpose too. He doesn’t want anyone to get dragged into his mess and is pissed when people try to help, because he thinks it’ll do nothing for him but make him feel worse. It’s also why he acts like he doesn’t take Charlie or the hotel seriously at all during the beginning of the series, despite us knowing he does secretly care about her and wants to be redeemed.
13:50 the TV guy is Vox.... If you remember from the last episode "the V's” are a group of three overloards, Vox, Val, and ... um... the bratty twintail who sang "Respectless"... can't remember her name.
Oh my god I’m so glad that someone is actually pointing out the fact that husk didn’t really do anything wrong in that scene after poison, because he finally snapped saying he was uncomfortable
Charlie could abaolutely annihilate Valentino if she wanted to, which is why he doesn’t directly antagonize her. He does open their interaction with licking her, and his saliva is a drug
Angel didn't get mad and storm out because of Husk rejecting his advances (in fact there are theories that when he flirts like that he's hoping to be rejected) He was mad because Husk kept calling him fake. It made him feel vulnerable that he was seeing through his mask that he puts up to protect himself. Not that this excuses Angel's behavior, just wanted to explain. There's actually a youtuber with a series of 'therapist reacts' videos where she does in depth character analyses that are really good. She also points out that while it doesn't excuse Angel's behavior, Husk shouldn't have broken through his walls like that before he was ready. He made him feel judged but then expected him to just open up to him.
PLEASE REACT TO "SPIRIT: STALLION OF THE CIMARRON"! It's a story about a strong, beautiful horse with a spirit that can never be broken. I cry every time I watch it! It's a INCREDIBLE film, and the songs are so cool! But it's not a musical and the animals can't talk. 😭💔🔥
Husk is that friend who will tell it to you straight. Charlie is Charlie and apparently she's somehow sheltered despite being the princess of hell and despite the fact that she walked through the wackiness already in episode one, and there's really nothing to indicate that she actually *was* sheltered, she just acts like it. :/ Reason number 23 why I don't care for her as much as the others, even though I love the likes of Rapunzel or Anna, who actually *were* sheltered. Valentino is the most... yeuch of the Vees. But his design is great and I love the wing thing he does. Charlie has no idea how to actually help people. Which would work, if there was someone to actually show her how, but... nope. This is also where Vaggie's personality takes a dip for me and it's never even fully acknowledged. I mean, Husk does nothing but his job, she *assumes* he did something, has him take responsibility for a screw up technically not helped by Charlie, and a situation that was primarily caused by Val... I can get her being reluctant at other points in the series to go somewhere or do something and leave something to someone else, but here? "Gee, sounds like someone should go after him." Really, Vaggie? Pas toi? Wasn't Husk's fault, and it's not Husk's responsibility to go after him because he's the hotel's guest and technically, Vaggie is the closest thing to a co-owner, discounting Alastor, and surely she's interesting in Angel's recovery. It just feels so forced. Also, yeah, good point. The SH, was pretty frickin' terrible, even if you can see how he developed that attitude around Val, and it really sucks for Husk. Also, they do not know that Husk has a fighter in him. Vaggie's more the military gal, why did she not go out to "protect angel?" Or even Charlie herself. It just feels so half-assed. Honestly, a way bigger issue than "Poison" and its visuals were Angels words and actions and also Charlie just kind of being somehow *that* blind to everything and Vaggie being Vaggie, but Twitter always focuses in on the wrong things. Also, we never get to see that lesson on boundaries. Would've been nice if we could slow down and see that actually happen. Had this not worked out, Vaggie would've been such an ass though. Luckily for her, and unfortunately for Husker and Angel, they're both similarly screwed. Despite being Harsh though, Husk definitely is one hell of a bro when you need him. Yeah, I like Husk and Angel as friends, mostly because given the harassment from previous episodes and that they've only just become friends, they could at least have a slowburn if you want the ship that badly and also because they're not in a great place right now, so...
15:12 Angel kept harassing people with his fake persona because if they reject him for his fake persona it's gonna hurt far less than if they rejected him for his real personality
I know you said you kind of want them to stay platonic, but HuskerDust is almost a confirmed ship at this point. It's subtle and sweet so it doesn't go anywhere that seems out of place. Throughout the rest of the series and even if you look back in this episode you might notice that since Husk's opinion on Angel obviously changes the animators really worked to make sure the characters expressions always come through in even the smallest ways. So now when Husk looks at Angel his pupils always dilate from the end of this episode onward, it's such a stupidly sweet detail I couldn't let slip by lol
The next episode is one of my personal favorites, mini spolier but Lucifer is in the next ep and he’s played by Jeremy Jordan one of my all time favorite singers (Varian in the tangled series, Jack on newsies broadway, Winn in Supergirl)
8:25 yeah, Val, for obvious reasons, can't take out his anger on the Princess of Hell. Charlie only knows that Val is keeping Angel busy, but not the full extent of the "relationship". Even the audience only has a slight idea of the abuse up to this point. We really get a good look at how far it extends here. Like, Val owns his soul, but outside of their contract, he can't technically use his soul to force him to work more or be at his beck and call. But he can use violence and abuse to make Angel come willingly (not in the fun way).
The comment about the amount of arms Angel had during the opening scene in the porn studio made me chuckle, knowing he would sprout two more later on 😂😂 Angel is a spider demon by the way! Alastor is a deer, Husk is obvious, Valentino is a moth, and if what I’ve heard before is true, Velvette is a doll (literally)
oh, so i’m not the only one who loves platonic huskerdust!! i agree that they’d also be cute romantically, but idk, for some reason i just really really love their platonic dynamic (also, to me personally Loser, Baby is an absolute friendship anthem hahaha)

Angel's overt sexuality is a very common response from SA survivors. It's a attempt to regain some feeling of control over their own bodies and lives. It still doesn't excuse him crossing Husk's boundaries repeatedly, but it's an explanation for his behavior.
Especially since that’s why Angel is praised as being such an excellent depiction of such a person.
It’s definitely cathartic.
That's actually true, i can relate lol it's horrible but it worked at some point, not healthy tho
I can kind of understand. The mentality is basically "They can't r**e me if I consent."
*It's called hypersexual and it's disorder that's common for S/A victims. I've also seen theories that Denji from CSA may have it too!*
*I'm glad it's getting represented in media without people automatically thinking someone is just constantly h0rny all the time!*
@@gabrieljinglebell8549 Anyone that goes through that is never healthy, especially how their treated too.
Fun fact: moth saliva has hypnotic properties so when Val “introduced” himself to Charlie, he was trying to hypnotize her.
Val not only sprays it on his victims directly, but seems to sell it as well
Oh my god!!!! 😳
Oh snappers
Yeah he puts his pheromones/saliva in Velvets love potion and his red smoke like a roofie drug
Notice in Loser Baby how Husk holds out his hand for Angel Dust to take instead of just grabbing him like Val would. Talk about a healthy meal.
It's so cute 😭❤
Or how he only holds his hands briefly when they start dancing early on. Its very "Okay I'm gonna guide you for a second but I know you can dance" so he lets him go. Makes Angel dancing along even cuter later in the song.
Later in the song when they're sitting under the umbrella Angel feels safe enough to offer his hand

He’s so smug, and I want to see him get killed SO BAD.

Me too!
Yes, exactly
As an armchair psychologist 🤓 Angel doesn't get upset a being rejected (it's his coping mechanism) he gets upset at Husk continually calling him fake.
I love how people notice that Husk extends his hand out for Angel to grab which is basically showing his respect for Angel's boundary but how did no one mention that later on Angel does the exact same thing. It's really in that moment you can see Angel learned it was not right to invade another's space without permission.😭❤❤❤

the reason why angel is so se-ual is because it's a coping mechanism from being abused and SA'd, his hyperse-ualtity comes from him trying to regain control of himself.
I can't wait to see what Charlie is really capable of, but in episode 4 it would have been very one-sided XD

Even when they’re arguing,Husk pushes the right buttons in Angel for him to express himself more and more truthfully.

one thing I admire so much about this episode is just how uncomfortable it is. it's difficult to watch because it isn't meant to be comfortable, it's a very serious topic that is too often romanticised or played down, and it's so important to remember just how terrible it is. great video as always, take care

@herstoryanimated ohh, okay, thanks for the clear up, like I said before, that's a really cool detail
"Which trigger warnings? ALL." Yep.

Plus it starts to show how much Angel has come to care about Charlie, despite his attempts too seem shallow.
the reason angel was mad wasn’t because husk was rejecting his harassment, he was more mad because he was being called fake. he was still decently mad about husk rejecting his advances because he likes being in control in situations like that and husk doesn’t really fall for it
It was confirmed by the creator and angel dust's VA that they are a slowburn romance, so no, it will not stay platonic
Angels VA is one like no other. he is truely one of the best (newer) ones that I've ever heard. props to him for this episode.
Oh my gosh I just realized that you can see husk blushing very subtly when he has a hold of angel and after angel says "it's not an act" 😱😱😱😱
idk if you noticed this, but during the second chorus of poison when angel is doing his dance number, there are screens in the background flashing different parts of presumably the scene before the dance scene. an interpretation i saw is that angel’s dance is him disassociating and what’s happening on the screens in the background is what’s *actually* happening to him.

We might get new characters in the 2nd season tho, so we'll have to see.
from what I've heard husk was originally created to be angels boyfriend and Viv said they would become cannon but that could be false info.
Don't get we wrong, it can be a beautiful platonic story as well, i just wanted to point out that IF it gets romantic it wouldn't be just "you saved me so i love you now"
P.S. i guess i changed my mind after looking at my own life. i never went through anything similar to an Angel's situation, but i did feel that everything was fake in my life (including myself) and thought that it needed to be for different reasons.
P.P.S. english is not my first language but i hope i was able to explain my point of view pretty well
Angel probably pushes his boundaries because if Husk rejects him then it’s by his term and he doesn’t have to get his feelings hurt when he gets close to someone like Husk
Husk does the same but in a different way which is why he came off like a big grumpy guy when he’s actually a sweet guy
Until both let their walls down and saw they’re not so different and they can rely on each other
The way that from that intro scene alone, you can tell that Angel can really act and had Val not exploited Angel the way he did, Angel could've been a legit actor in films.

YES!! I WASN'T THE ONLY ONE WHO SAW IT W/ OUT THE WARNING ON THE 1ST VIEWING!! ✊😭
That wasnt his knee getting bitten, Sweet Summer Child....
I really appreciate how Mathew called how Angel's behavior to Husk. This ep is so sympathetic to Angel that it's easy to forget that Husk is trapped here, unable to leave even if he couldn't hold off Angel or if Angel pushed farther than harassment. Good call out!
Val: What a lovely specimen *licks Charlie's arm*
Mathew: LEASGHFGSGHFGSGHFSHFH
Something I love about this episode is that it doesn't shy away from the horrible, and still makes you feel good and warm and fuzzy on the inside. This show (and helluva boss honestly) is really good at being graphic and disturbing, but also wholesome and a genuine comfort show.
Everyone in this fandom has only one agreement:
The only problem that Val has is that *he's still breathing*
Being this early feels like a crime
100% lmao I've never been this early

I think Viv's confirmed that Angel and Husks relationship is gonna be a slow burn so I think they will eventually get together romantically, so long as the team is given enough seasons to tell the story they want to
I feel like the start of the ep hits even scarier when people know bad times are coming, for those first few seconds where you arent sure if its real.
HELL YEAH, IT'S TIME FOR TRAUMA
10:01 yep, Anthony is his real name :D
Husk is definitely my favourite

it shows just how terrified angel is of valentino that he thinks he'll hurt charlie. valentino wouldn't dare harm her, he knows the risk. she's the daughter of lucifer and he'd break val into a million pieces if he found out val had touched a hair on charlie. but angel is so broken from what val has done to him that he's genuinely concerned val would hurt charlie. which might also indicate val has hurt people that got in the way of him and angel before
fun fact: angel probably thinks that people can only like him for his body. on top of being hyper sexual as a trauma response, he makes those sexual advances because he thinks that that's the only way people want to be around him
I think that angel dust doesn’t want Charlie to get hurt because she reminds him of his sister Molly
The fact Angel cares more about Charlie than his own safety just makes me wanna cry
14:51 I agree that Angel was being antagonistic but it hurts to remember that Angel has gotten sexually harassed/assaulted even if he said no for years to the point that it feels normal.
Angel was flat out sexually abused
You really matched charlie's energy this episode.
This episode is so heart wrenching, but also in many ways beautiful at the end. It's such an intense episode😓
It's SUCH an emotional roller-coaster 😭
Oh shit I think this is the quickest I’ve clicked on one of your videos. Looks like the bell button works
i actually screamed when i saw this update 🙉 these vids are feeding my soul
Val is the only character to my knowledge the entire fandom wanted to die in that fire Charlie started
13:50 the TV guy is Vox.... If you remember from the last episode "the V's” are a group of three overloards, Vox, Val, and ... um... the bratty twintail who sang "Respectless"... can't remember her name.
Velvette
@@_lLexa_l Thank you! My brain froze...
@@KaitLynnHt Haha, no problem!
Oh my god I’m so glad that someone is actually pointing out the fact that husk didn’t really do anything wrong in that scene after poison, because he finally snapped saying he was uncomfortable
4:22 the moment he knows this isnt going to be happy like the last one...
I love her videos!!!
Agreed, it was such a good movie, fantastic soundtrack, but definitely NOT meant for a Hazbin Hotel comment section.
0:18 including arachnophobia, amiright? Cause angel's a SPIDER 🤣
Bro Valentino's design goes soo hard
I was legit just about to check if a new vid was out as this appeared on my feed. Algorithm reading minds
LITERALLY SAME
The next episode is one of my personal favorites, mini spolier but Lucifer is in the next ep and he’s played by Jeremy Jordan one of my all time favorite singers (Varian in the tangled series, Jack on newsies broadway, Winn in Supergirl)
Damn, I actually didn’t realize how intense the voice acting was in this episode 😲
The comment about the amount of arms Angel had during the opening scene in the porn studio made me chuckle, knowing he would sprout two more later on 😂😂
Angel is a spider demon by the way! Alastor is a deer, Husk is obvious, Valentino is a moth, and if what I’ve heard before is true, Velvette is a doll (literally)
husk is a anthropomorphic avian cat demon to be specific 😌
WE WAS WAITINNNGGGGGG 🔥🔥🔥🔥 honestly episode four no diff best episode episode 5 comes right after tho🫵🫵
I’ve watched this show over and over again and I just realized the video is flipped- 😭😭
2:41 Uhhh “biting his knee” is a sweetly naive guess about what’s getting bitten…
(Pretty sure the wolf guy bit angels whole ass)
oh, so i’m not the only one who loves platonic huskerdust!!
i agree that they’d also be cute romantically, but idk, for some reason i just really really love their platonic dynamic (also, to me personally Loser, Baby is an absolute friendship anthem hahaha)
