Use straight vinegar run it half way and turn off your water pic and let set for four hours. Than run again and rinse out if you have to. I have my WP-100 for over thirteen years and all I do is air dry it.
Waterpik told me today that a unit should be flushed with a tank filled with 2-4 teaspoons of vinegar, depending on water hardness, each month to descale it. Vinegar will not kill germs effectively.
Good stuff, but everyone, you've GOT to look at the RUclips vid by Mel Martin, called simply 'Waterpik'. He opened the handle of his, and it was full of mould that he then cleaned out. I don't yet know how he opened the handle, and have posted a message there asking. I'm just saying, until you see inside that handle, you really don't know how dirty it is. His was filthy green with mould. Bruce Thomson in New Zealand.
I wonder if running the pump continuously without water will put excessive wear on the pump and motor. I use mine 3 times a day and rinse each time. Stays nice and clean.
my water pik flosser often stops pumping in middle of cycle. sometimes turning it of and on of jiggling the device may help to get it started. Suggestions?

Why the hell is this not told to patients at the dentist office? All they tell is to use a waterpik.
I mix mouthwash and warm water when I use mine.
1/2 white vinegar and 1/2 water run it through and rinse a few times once a month

I'm throwing mine away...black mold coming out of the tip...watched a couple videos and realized it's a lot easier and cleaner to use dental floss.
It is written in the user's manual not to use bleach solutions with Waterpik. So chlorine is a bad idea.
too much work
I would turn the water reservoir upside down when I store the unit.
When running air through the unit after using it (as described in video around

Good information. Thanks.
if you have a sonicare toothbrush with UV light compartment, you can disinfect your floss tips that way too.
