      This stage of the trial was to determine damages anyway. Jones refused to participate in the portion of the trial to determine liability-a default judgement was entered for Jones there. He could have participated there and (possibly) argued toward a different judgment. He creates this mess on his own through 1) his wild claims over many years and 2) refusal to engage in the trial and make his defense.

      @GoonieGooGoo Why would the court allow a statement after the default judgment was entered? Because they need to try to assign a dollar amount to the harm Jones caused and a punitive amount to deter him and others from engaging in such harmful behavior in the future.
      They split it up so that the jury can focus on one matter and then the other. They need to see evidence and hear witness testimony during the damages portion of the trial so they can consider what they should say Jones owes to make this right by the plaintiffs.

      It's a trademark attribute of Narcissistic Personality Disorder. I'm no psychologist, I just grew up with a parent with all the same traits. I can't say that they have it bc technically they weren't diagnosed w NPD. The person in question has to willfully go to therapy for the diagnosis, which my parent didn't do. VERY FEW people with NPD are officially diagnosed for this reason.
      My guess is that Alex Jones has Narcissistic Personality Disorder, but will never have to face that fact bc he will probably never step foot in a therapist office. And even if he does, he can still hide that diagnosis from the world.... but he can't hide his actions!

      There is both a period and a question mark after your opening paragraph. So I'll deal with it as a question.
      This is simply to determine how much money Alex Jones should pay. That's all.
      It's going to take six days to demonstrate clearly the level of malice Alex Jones demonstrated and the level of incompetence Alex Jones and his crew demonstrated.
      The truth was out there all the time and they ignored it. For years they ignored it.

    • @davebaton8879
      @davebaton8879 Год назад

      Yes, usually there would also be a trial about whether or not Alex Jones and Info Wars are liable before a jury. However Alex Jones and Info Wars/ Free Speech Systems did not fulfill their discovery obligations for a very long time while the plaintiffs did. As a result the judge found that the appropriate sanction for this behavior is a default judgement finding Alex Jones, Free Speech Systems and Info Wars liable. So all that remains of the trial is the part where the jury has to decide how much Alex Jones, Info Wars and Free Speech Systems have to pay to plaintiffs.

    • @DiustheZ
      @DiustheZ Год назад +6

      Yes the trial you see here is for damages, his side refused to comply with court orders to hand over documents so they automatically lost the legal proceeding side of things. He's not "guilty" of anything this isn't a criminal case it's a civil case i believe the judge points that out to the defendant's lawyer at one point not sure which video though.

    • @PBthesquirrel
      @PBthesquirrel Год назад +5

      @@DiustheZ correct. As a civil case, he can be ruled "liable" or "not liable." This isn't a "guilty vs innocent" situation -- that is for criminal trials.

      You would definitely not win the case. They are violating the constitution which I’m sure they’ll be ethic violations filed once this case is done. The judge is very very very bias along with the plaintiffs attorneys. Texas won’t put up with this kinda bias. The attorneys general office is probably watching every move of this case.

I have endeavored to preside over a courtroom that listens to all, treats parties consistently and respectfully, and returns rulings quickly. For her I guess it is about service to Travis County. I wish that judges felt this way about service to uphold law over legality in service to humankind.
