95$ for a utility blade holder?!?! They have got to be on something! I despise how many gucci items have entered this area now that EDC has gotten popular. Makes me miss the days when the term didn't exist and it was just people carrying what was useful.

@@griper00 I see you missed the point of my comment. I never said it wasn't well made, didn't require precise machining, or that I wanted that style of utility knife.
I was pointing out that such things are excessive for the application, unnecessarily extravagant, and more about showing off. If someone wants enjoys it, that's their business. I just hope it's not hype that gets them to buy it. What I get tired of is EDC getting flooded with this stuff and influencers pushing it. 95$ dollars or more for a good multitool? Reasonable. The same amount for less material and functionality? Absurd.

@@griper00 Utility knives from old school brands like Milwaukee are basically lifetime items even it's made of plastic. Those are cheaper and have better ergonomics as well.

My $5 Gordon utility knife I got from Harbor Freight can do the same thing this can. There is absolutely no reason you should spend $100 on this bullshit.

Nice! Victorinox cadet, tinker, pioneer, one handed trekker.. you get the idea. Second most likely is the Benchmade bugout, since I can open and close with one hand, it’s light and handy
Mine is an AG Russell steel thumbnail. Dull enough to carry bare on a keyring, sharp enough to open an Amazon package. Pops open soda cans when my nails are trash. Little scraper that I love.
That price point is ridiculous. Id consider it if they made a stainless steel reasonably priced model. Then again a pocket knife or fixed blade takes 30 seconds to hone n run through a Sharpenal that sits in the glove box lol.
This thing is what, $80-$90? Just picked up the Zero from Rivery cnc for 48, and it's incredibly fidgety, usa made, toolless blade change, and doesn't dull the blade everytime you open it like most do (including this big ideas one).

Leatherman Skeletool. Can’t seem to find any tool that approaches its usefulness to weight ratio. I use the blade, screwdriver and pliers almost everyday.

Started off with a TPT slide but I upgraded to the rexford RUT V4. So very expensive but the quality is unmatched
Victorinox Compact is in my front pocket every day and used at least once every day.
Victorinox Spartan. Have a couple of them in a few tasteful colors to go with any outfit for a true EVERY day carry. I'm literally handicapped on days that I forget to put it into my pocket for some reason. A highlight moment was when I used it to open beer bottles for my buddies while fully suited up, being the best man at my friends wedding. Classiest EDC possible

Been using Giltek for 6 years non stop as my keychain edc and I intend to carry it forever.
I’ve lost 3 of them. I absolutely loved them and that’s why I replaced it twice. I just couldn’t stomach it again. But I just carry a fastback when I need a utility knife and keep a little titanium pry bar on my keychain. I often miss it.

Milwaukee fast back is the king of edc. Especially the one with the bit driver. Idk how I lived without it
I carry my BDEDC TPT Slide in my fifth pocket all the time, along with the TiRant Razer V3. One is mostly for mail and the other for breaking down cardboard and plastic .
My favorite edc tool period is the snap-on mini prybar. I cannot stress how useful that lil bih is
I like the $30 Lever Gear Edge XT. Dual locking #11 blade. Pry bar. Quick box opener. Built in flat head and Phillips. Magnetic 1/4" hex bit holder. Wire stripper. Bottle opener. Metric and Inch rulers. 3.3" long and 1 ounce. You've reviewed Lever Gear products before, right? You should check this out.

My cadet ranks slightly higher for me, but luckily, I carry both every day now.
How is the blade retention when under stress? Seems like the more expensive the box cutter the more the blade pops out.

I'm big on the ruk. I'm a native, so shipping is quick, I support a co company, it's more affordable and I work retail... so it's literally used every couple of minutes. I find at home the "pry bar" has taken off so many outlet covers it's digusting.... for prying other things it actually works great. Most pants have an otherwise useless pocket, so this is a no brainer.... had fancier utility knives, but two hand closing is defintely a turn off. I will say, the kickstarter ended but the zero "A deceptively simple knife" is definitely worth a look....
My most carried and used in my Leatherman Charge+, which replaced my Leatherman Wave+ in that role. Which superseded my Leatherman Wave. Still, I've considered getting something along the lines of the TPT Slide.
Classic sd is the best thing i have ever brought i think. I even brought one for my dad and told him you will use it way more than you think 😅

My most carried edc is my scalpel knife i carry in the sheath i made in my phone back cover....i always have my phone so always have my knife and no need to worry about sharpening

Look up outdoor edge Slidewinder - same thing for 1/10th of the price
It is a similar product, but it's extremely finicky, especially with thicker utility blades and the lock has a tendency to slip very easily and retract the blade.
Gave one to a Green Beret. One of the horse soldiers. He was a cop, a fireman, migrant worker across Europe, part native American, oufitter in Montana, retired green beret 20+ years, he runs a survival school and wrote the survival part of the socom manuals. Wow.... Unless that's a novelty knife like a glorified letter opener, that's unbelievable. I can't imagine a handle smaller than my demko 20.5 which I only accept because it's timascus, but for example my fox radius doesn't get to see much daylight because the handle fits 3 fingers, it's a pain to use. Also there's tons of reasons real blades are safer and better than replaceable blades.
The blades get dull really fast with mine because of how it's constructed. Tbh I can't understand how anyone who actually uses it often can stand it. There are many better options for a better price nowadays.
The tool itself is good but when it comes time to change the blade, that’s a different story. It’s a pain, believe me. So I just take the screws out and charge the blade that way.
Mine broke. Well it doesn't slide correctly it locks into a position that won't move.
Why would you need that if you always have a pocket knife. I open boxes with baby banter. No issues and it didn't cost as much as this thing.
It would be nice to find one that was affordable so it’s easily replaceable if lost.

My question is, why do you carry this if you already have a dedicated knife. I understand if you just enjoy it. I carry more than one knife simply because I like to. But what’s the use of carrying a pocket knife, when all you use is a utility knife, and all you do is cut boxes and ties.
Rather than dull my knife breaking down boxes, I use this. I use my knife for basically everything else. But I have a lot of boxes to break down regularly.

Sure, but there's no point in using a knife when there is a better tool for the job, since one thing that will dull a knife faster than anything is a cardboard box. Use the best tool for the job, no?

I've been eyeing this model (sold by a few companies) for a while but the absurd price (130$) is putting me off. I don't care about Titanium, making it out of aluminum and sell it a lot cheaper.
No where is the TPT Slide $130 ... They're $80-$95. There are similar tools in aluminum that are ~$75.

walmart sells a 2 pack of small utility knives that are kind of similar for $9. Id say get those and if you like them upgrade to a nicer one
@@BestDamnEDC I'm canadian, it is 130$ here. But even 80$ USD is way too much for such a simple tool. It would be a perfect keychain knife and pry tool, but at this price it is unreasonable IMO.
