- Last June, we moved into our countryside rental home and started upgrading it room by room. In Germany, rentals are usually long term and you are allowed to do a lot of upgrades in your rental like painting, drilling into walls, and even building your own kitchen.

I am very curious about your arrangement with the landlord - you are making it your own home drilling, installing furniture, wall features... I was convinced that this time you must have bought your own house :) How did you negotiate all the works with the landlord? Big hug! It's pretty common in Germany that you can do a lot of things in the rental apartment, like paint or drill. Many in Germany rent for long term (or even for their whole lives) and some also have minimum number of years to stay in the contract.
There are of course case by case rules like no touching the floors, windows frames and so on - We do what we can within the limits 😄 And if we move out, we have to revert the apartment to original condition (ie. fill holes, paint walls)

Landlords don’t care usually when talked to but there’s pay for damage at the end
@@bryannamilligan4139 they have to paint all walls all white again 😒
Drilling or painting isn't an issue with rental properties in Germany, however, when you move out you have to paint everything white again and fill the drilling holes.

It is so satisfying to watch.. Like you have the whole time in world to do your house work... I am a mom of 2, my day starts at 5.15am.. Cooking brkfst and lunch.. Then getting ready to office and come back home at 9.30pm and again clean up kitchen and stuff.. Always in rush.. Thanks for this video..
