These day, Chopin has saved me. He has brought me back to myself. Like a warm blanket on my tired and wounded soul. He has touched me, held my hand. Immensely grateful.
Chopin is my companion in my depression, his music feels like that friend who understands what you've been through and pats on your shoulders, his music has more empathy than most people.

Sorry for my English, I'm French. When I was 7 years old, my father made me listen to the nocturnes de chopins to fall asleep, and every night I listened to them and it helped me, it calmed me. I am now 14 years old and I am still passionate about Chopin.

This reminds me when I was young. I was in the hallway that led to my father's study. His door was open and everything was dark except a small, halo of dusty light shining down on his desk. He sat slumped over the desk, holding his face in his hands. Beside his elbow was a glass of whiskey. I didnt know it, but that was the moment my father realized our family lost everything. Back in 2008. Chopin was on his record player. I stood in the darkness for a long time and listened. After awhile, I ran up behind him and gave him a hug. He just melted. Picked me up, sat me on his lap and hugged me. And everytime I hear this, i think back on that moment.
getting older, I start to appreciate the beauty and genius behind Chopin's music. All his nocturnes are all so ethereal and almost divine. His music says so much and It amazes me he can create such powerful music that has lasted the test of time. This is why he is my absolute favorite composer.
@@lldd11 Well, in his case it does. He's started to appreciate it in advancing age, as he says. Better if you just yell at him and ask him what took him so long!
I agree. My appreciation for Chopin's nocturnes has skyrocketed here in my late 40's. Perhaps it beckons differently to the wealth of memory and experiences you are enriched with, as you tuck more years into your pocket. Very like viewing something you've always known and accepted, suddenly in an amazing new, revelatory light. How grand that is!
When I was a little girl, I hated Chopin's nocturnes and ballads. I thought he was depressed and sad in everything he composed, which thwarted my joie de vivre as a kid. Now that life has made me mature a bit more, I appreciate his work deeply and feel emotions I have never felt before. I believe he reveals a deeper side of our existence, by allowing us to transcend our pain.
First time I am listening to Chopin.. must say its very relaxing. Before Chopin I was listening to Bach but didn't liked it that much. If it's changing my life I will let you know.. :p
I sincerely believe Chopin and others..are Souls that came from another Realm and were born to raise our concept of Art. Pure magic in our Espirits...Thet help me to get back on the path of spirituality.
I’ve learned to love Chopin Nocturnes from my ex BF. He used to play Nocturnes and Polonaise in the piano. He was able to show me the timeless beauty of classical music. Every time i listen to Chopin, I remember our happy years together.
My ex girlfriend and I listened to Chopin all the time, sadly we are no longer together, but I am still in love with her - after 38 years - and also in love with Chopin's music....
Chopin is my favourite composer. From all his works, I Iove his nocturnes the most. It fits my nostalgic, melancholic mood perfectly, and calms and relaxes me. Thank you, Frederyk.
I used to listen to lots of Chopin. I was the biggest classical nerd since elementary school and never really listened to anything but that for most of my life. You can just hear his heart. Music, is the heart. Such beauty... I hope I can leave a mark on earth like him one day, so others can hear my heart. Peace, love and light.
I was born in '79. I LOVE Chopin more than anything in the world. He's so near and dear to me. I've played and listened to so much of his stuff countless times over the years. The Nocturnes and Etudes will always be my favorites, and some of my favorites in all of classical music. He's the poet of the piano. Nothing matches up to the stunning artistry, emotion, melodicism, and haunting quality of his music.
My sixth grade science teacher would play this music through test and would always tell the class "this will relax your mind and take away the stress". Sure... Except that what we have here, are only his nocturnes - which are but a small part of his whole repertoire. I wonder if you'd say the same, hearing his fiery virtuoso etudes, then mazurkas, waltzes, preludes or polonaises...
There are some composers and some works of music that transcend all explanation for how and why they speak to you the way they do, and for me, Chopin and his Nocturnes fulfill this and then some. I have come back time and again to listen to this collection of works; haunting yet calm, sad yet hopeful, soft yet so powerful. His music puts me in a state of being that I cannot describe, only try to understand. I hope that those of you who listen to him are able to pull such strong meaning from these works the way that I have. Sometimes, music can speak a million words without a single lyric or voice.
“Unable for the loved to die, for love is immortality” -Emily Dickinson Chopin will never die because of the love he speaks into his music, and we feel and experience that differently and how beautiful is that. To be able to write something that speaks to anyone.

It’s amazing how much of his heart and emotions that he put it his music. Every note is a feeling, that would have been mentally and physically draining to write such works. One of my favorites.
It’s a very unique feeling. Much more than simply paying attention to the music. It’s more like letting the music follow you into your dreams as you are about to fall asleep.
He was the poet of the piano. The most original Composer of his time other than Alkan. While he died penniless and bankrupt. To the extreme his sister, Louise had to sell his socks to curiosity seekers to pay for some of his debts. Today, lesser Artist's make million dollar careers performing the works of this immortal genius. An Artist I revere. I could of never been a Composer, with Chopin. I adore him. To those complaining that they hear the pianist's breathing, I can only say..... What world are you living in? That's a living human being sitting there working through some of the most cognitively and physically challenging music ever written. In what bloodless realm do you abide? Passion of any kind is accompanied by effort, and effort requires an active metabolism. Sit back on your cushions and appreciate someone who is actually taking an active role in communicating genius for your benefit. And, for the connoisseurs, I am not necessarily saying that this particular pianist is a passionate virtuoso, but even a literal reading of masterwork requires enormous concentration.
nocturnes is bliss .... a complex expression in remarkably simple renditions ... a poetic something that gets interspersed in the simplicity of graceful melody... one can only thank chopin for this work of art
Classical music often incorporates imagination and expression of nature. The harmonies meld with the sounds of nature, crafting a musical experience akin to a mystical natural landscape.

I found this video 3 years ago at the beginning of my undergradute physics and astrophysics degrees. I have listened to it every day since while I'm reading and studying. Sometimes, I imagine I am sitting at a piano and playing the songs while I drift off to sleep. :)
I grew up playing slower pieces of chopins including a few nocturnes. My final year of highschool i panicked during my solo and ensemble piece (nocturne in e flat major). Since then my piano skills kinda fell off as i was too busy and didnt have access to a piano. Recently i got a piano and can now play through that entire piece again and am working on relearning my old pieces and new ones. It has been so healing and i remember every time i sit down that these pieces are filled to the brim with emotion and that is something that is just so special about chopin. I will forever love these pieces.

His nocturns have this haunting quality. For me they conjure an image of a lone pianist in an empty baroque ballroom; the polished grand piano positioned near the long, patio windows, beyond which the blackness of the night is relieved only by the Moon; while the endless succession of nocturnes echo melancholically through the empty house like fading thoughts and dreams.
Finally, I have enough. I have food. I have clean water. I have a warm bed. This is the first night after I finally finished this fight, and Chopin sends Starry Night on the Rhone to light up my room from 200 years in the past. Thank you.
Many people know Chopin's music only by his nocturnes, but his polonaises, waltzes, mazurkas, preludes and fiery etudes are just as good for relaxation and focus when learning, at work and even better for any activity that requires chilled, yet positive attitude.
And his four ballades? His first ballade is one of the most hardest piano piece to play and still one of the most beautiful piano piece ever, especially the code.

I am 67 and playing Chopin since I was 7. I remember playing Prelude in E minor as a child and struggling with it. Along with all the Nocturnes my favorites are the Heroic Polonaise and the Tristesse Etude. I still can't play them as well as I would like.

This man right here was my inspiration to play Piano. Man, if he was still alive then I would thank him for creating so many marvelous pieces.
My Uncle Geza Anda was "The Troubadour of the Piano" He was a composer, conductor & classical pianist & began his career with his interpretations of Chopin. Love them both. Thank you for sharing this brilliant, peaceful, inspirational music with the world. Many blessings, Wonders of Classical Music.
btw: The International Piano Competition in Zurich is held in Geza Anda's name. Good luck to all you upcoming pianists.
You must be very proud of your uncle. I give thanks for him and his work.
Wow, I actually have few albums of Mr. Anda which I enjoy. You must be very proud of your uncle. Glad I met you here.
The portrait of Frédéric Chopin was drawn by the artist Louis Lupas. He published two books of portraits of composers and musicians.
thank you! I really like this portrait and wondered who drew it.

Is his name really francois chaplin?? That's what it says in the description
@@Snurfsurfer Francois Chaplin is the pianist, Lupas is the graphic artist that created the portrait.
Chopin the greatest piano composer in history. The poet of the piano.

POLSKA GÓRĄ
Mozart was no slouch in the piano department. Just saying.
@@alanbobe-velez9716 Of course, Mozart was the greatest overall composer along with Beethoven. That's just my opinion.
@@pianorocks1073 As I see it, Mozart is the greatest composer in the whole canon of Western classical music, bar none, with Beethoven in second place. Rounding out my top five are Bach, Chopin and Liszt. To make it an even ten I include Haydn, Debussy, Fauré, Mendelssohn and Schumann.
What a gift this man was. This is so peaceful 🙏
