I love that kill switch. It is sooo cute, looks like straight out of a 1910s construction kit for kids.

We used to have one! Ours had a start pedal; my dad said it was a washing-machine engine.

Reminiscent of a Maytag wash machine engine 😊

Neat little engine! I noticed the curved impression on the back of the base tank. Do you think this could be ment for a kickstart version? Or mabie for a pulley or some design feature on the machine it was from... Reminded me of oddballs like the Associated 3/4 Pony motor with the flatbelt recoil or Doyle or kissel 2 strokes somewhat.. ✌👍

A lot of utilimotor where footstart so I imagine some had pedals but I haven't seen a Jacobsen with one yet might just be an old casting design they never changed.

I was gonna say that is not a very efficient way of doing a hit and miss engine, but that might be the only way to do a hit and miss 2 stroke

It's how alot of them did it for two strokes. Terrible waste of fuel but it's how they did it including Maytag.

@@cruddycornstalksI just got a maytag today! It is my first hit and miss, and it is absolutely beautiful. What oil and fuel to oil ratio do you recommend?

You could've used dental floss to limit the spring instead if cutting a part on something that old. Kids I tell ya .
