U2's have to be directed during landing by another U2 pilot in a really fast car chasing the aircraft down the runway. That always seemed like a fun job to me.

Btw some aircraft can operate on straight floats when they have retract wheels. Also, the Lake 270 Turbo is an actual obscurity. Yes the half truck is real, yes it works.
Some have deployable landing gear like the Grumman goose and I’m pretty sure that first showed plane has landing gear and even the ones with the floats they have landing gear you can deploy from those
Most float planes DO have wheels that retract when landing on water! Please do your homework before making a video! Assume you are talking to a professional in whatever subject you are doing, otherwise you will just look silly!👀

If you got a good enough acceleration and run you can get a truck up to 100 mph. With a favorable wind, you’ll take off just fine.
Right and most of these planes can take off between 50-70 kts
@@omegaminus If you forget to loosen hte straps you might carry the truck a short ways too! Running debris patrols on the active runway was fun.
Hey, a lot of floaters have a set of wheels that either crank down or use motorized extension from the bottom of the floats !!

~60-70 knots depending on the type, thats 110-130 kph or 70-80 mph
Man I really need to get my float rating sorted out this summer. I keep putting it off.
Some floats have retractable landing gear but this adds weight.

Indeed. The first plane is actually my plane, flown by me. But planes on “straight floats” don’t have wheels. Amphibious floats do.
Those floats have wheels . Most do at least so they CAN land in grass or on runways

I would love to see your statistics saying that most float planes are amphibious… some do. Mine does. But many don’t.
