Despite being told repeatedly to shorten his responses, even by his own counsel, he continues… because that’s how important he thinks he is, that’s how much he loves to hear himself talk, so he chooses to not respect the court process. He acts like a bratty child when prosecutors do their job to stop his off topic monologues. I don’t see a caring man. This is my first time watching this testimony. You couldn't possibly be more correct. The difference was pronounced and instantaneous. It's like a switch was flipped. I don't think he did himself any favors with his hostile and aggressive demeanor towards the prosecution. It also seems to me that he wasn't sufficiently coached by his attorneys on how to behave under cross. Perhaps they, too, were painfully aware of his guilt and what he had done, and so didn't feel particularly motivated to help him out in this regard.

    • @jenniferlindsay9413

I agree! I think the difference is that the prosecution is a female. It seems he has issues with females. I am thinking he was verbally abusive and controlling. I think he wanted to hurt his wife by killing the kids first and then kill her.

Yes! I actually found it pretty creepy to watch, because it reminded me a bit of how Hollywood often tries to portray "split personalities:" the way he would swivel his chair towards the jury and act polite, interested and caring...but then the second he swiveled *away* from the jury he'd suddenly switch to hostile, arrogant and derisive...it really totally was just like watching a switch being flipped!
Also, I kept asking myself while watching his antics, "Does he not realize that the jury can still hear him even when he's facing away from them??" It was SO weird! Like, did he somehow think the jury wouldn't notice his entire attitude shift to rude and hostile, just because he wasn't looking at them? The whole spectacle was very creepy and odd to watch, for sure.
You're certainly right that he was 100% unlikeable!

    • @maneckineckbeard1749

@@DS-hy6ld So true about being coached! I mean, the only times I ever had to take the stand in my life was during my divorce, and even then my lawyer still made a point of coaching me on not getting visibly irritated at the opposing council's questions, (no matter how rude or invasive they were) and not making any overly emotional displays in front of the judge, etc. And that was just a measly divorce case, not a triple homicide!
Although, based on what I've seen of this guy, he seems arrogant enough to possibly think that he knows better than any lawyer, and I could totally see him ignoring his lawyer's coaching because he thinks he's just so brilliant and charismatic that the jury will love him.

Normally lawyers would not put a guy like this on the stand. He's just SO unlikeable. But in this case they had to because he previously told cops that he did it. So he has to take the stand and provide some explanation as to why he said that. He can't just remain silent after having said he did it. Having said that, when he was on the stand there's zero doubt that his lawyers were thinking to themselves that this guy is an absolutely disaster up there.

Right!? He claimed she couldn't even walk much of the time and needed him to carry her...yet somehow she made such a miraculous recovery that she could kill a struggling 13yo boy and 2 other kids?
Also, what does it say about HIM that (at least according to him) she repeatedly threatened to murder their children, and he was supposedly so dedicated to "honoring and obeying" her that he just...didn't try to seek help, even though he claims he knew that his kids' lives were in danger!?

He went from being emotional when the defense attorney questioned him to being defensive and angry when the prosecutor questioned him. That is not how an innocent person would respond. If you are truly sad and emotional, then you’d remain sad and emotional, no matter who was questioning you. The prosecutor was literally asking him about when he found his children dead and when his wife allegedly killed herself. Out of all the questions, those were the times for him to be extremely sad and emotional and he wasn’t. The fact that he flipped his emotions so quickly and had no emotion when talking about their deaths says everything you need to know about him.

He admitted on the stand that there’s no way to insert a knife to your body multiple times and yet that’s what he claimed his wife did to herself. Why didn’t he grab the knife away from her then? And he drives to buy a gun, drives to CVS, drives to Walgreens, and drives to get takeout, but he doesn’t drive to the police station to let them know what happened. This guy deserves a Razzie Award for the worst performance in a drama. I hope his time in prison is taunting, torturous, and terrifying.

"I consider myself a third kid." That sums him and his crime perfectly. He considered his wife his mother who had to see to every need he had. Adult children are terrifying because they have the power of an adult and the mind and emotions of a child, so they're childishly selfish, fearful, demanding, and angry. Healthy adults learn to temper these tendencies with love, compassion, empathy, responsibility, mercy but not him.
