“he just doesn’t have a strong voice” 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. Maynard has the strongest voice in the world when the song calls for it. Check out The Grudge.
I am someone who has very little faith in humanity. I love that line.. "l have a suggestion to keep you all occupied. Learn to swim"
“Doesn’t take a breath”. Tool - The Grudge. You’ll all lose your shit
This song is so good that we forget how brutal the lyrics actually ....was... 🔥
Listen to The Grudge. It contains the greatest primal scream in rock history.
If you want Maynard loud and clear try the Sober Live video.
Either this or the pushit salival version. Maynard has an insane voice, they just push him back in the mix as he is part of the music, rather than the dominant force. Best Maynard vocals imo: pushit/the grudge (!?)/Rosetta stoned/wings part 1&2. If you want to hear aggro Maynard then listen to the grudge, but the salival version of pushit is just incredible.
I love Maynard at his loudest and angriest self.
Tool - Sober (studio version)
I just googled Maynard. He's from Ravenna, OH., about 22 miles from me. He's spot on about LA, but I feel there are people like this everywhere, very shallow and selfish.
Yep, hence the lyric to Jimmy "under a dead Ohio sky..."
Been to Ravenna :)
You should read his biography. He’s a literal genius.
I grew up near Youngstown/Warren. Maynard and Trent were/still are "hometown heroes" 'round those parts.
Finally! A reaction video that not only did due diligence but also gets it!
Tool is the 🐐
God, danny carry is killing it on drums!!!
Epic song! Epic review guys! Without a doubt one of my fave songs ever! Keep up the great work. Love from Queensland, Australia
I'm not sure Bill Hicks was sampled on this, but he's on "Third Eye" from this same album.
That'll be a different trip. :D
46&2 is rad, and his voice can be very strong when the mood and lyrics call for it. Also love Lateralus, Parabol/Parabola ( which these 2 must be played together!), Jambi, Descending, too many more to list! You should also check out the live versions of Porcupine Tree, the songs Arriving Somewhere But Not Here and Anesthetize; Porcupine Tree is a terrific prog band whose music is so inventive and just draws you in. Their live performance of each of these 2 songs has superior sound quality plus you get to see them play and that is a memorable experience! Sadly they disbanded in 2011 and lead singer Steve Wilson has done many solo projects since, but we fans hold hope the old gang will come back together for another Porcupine Tree album!
Tool are masters of the "build up" and always finish strong.
"If you get bored during a Tool song, you're not listening hard enough". Philosophical. Great comment.
🦋 Everything You Said is Facts! And True To It's Nature The Song Is the Absolute Definition Of what Bill Hick's was talking about through the genius of Maynard James Keenan's lyrical analysis.🎶🤘🤘🎶
The trick for listening to Tool. First time its hearing the rhythms and how everything blends together, Second time its realizing that every song's lyrics hit hard, Third is starting everything all over and getting lost in it. Every song has a deeper meaning to it and almost every single album is a journey with an overall message (pretty much how its done in APC as well). The best way to experience it is to sit somewhere with headphones on or even go for a long drive and listen to any album the whole way through from Beginning to End. Will be an hour or so well worth it.
Just so damn good!
This song is what made me buy This album back in 98 & was SO glad I bought it.
This is my first and favorite song I had heard from Tool.
Great videos. You guys are cracking me up though, you look like bobbleheads 🤣😂. That's not a shot, I love it.
Ticks & Leeches - TOOL. You are welcome.
Mother Nature
Nice Reaction. Peace from Old Louisville, St. Catherine.
my favorite tool song.... and i still can't figure out why
Bro. This is absolutely crazy. I was watching a GMM video of the exotic fruits taste test and saw you at the end of it LOL.
It might not look like it, but they are all bobbing their heads to the same beat.
Ticks & Leeches! The recording of the song did permanent damage to Maynard's voice.
I am sure you realize ....we are now witnessing and living history !...that being said you are 15 years late ..but still made it on the boat !
If you want to hear Maynard's strong voice, listen to any song from the "Opiate " or "Undertow " albums.
God, soo good !
Next Tool song should be 46 and 2
I've never tried to dig very deep to see if some sort of substantial and verifiable answer is out there, but I always felt "Ænima" (the album title) was a lean into the play on "anima" (life-giving spirit), while the title-track, "Ænema" was a lean into the play on "enema", hence the slightly altered spelling.
I think this would make sense, as the album seems to contain more general themes of personal healing and transformation, while the title-track is about "cleansing" a very particular place in a very particular way.
Also, I've always pronounced them differently - "Ænima" as ah-neh-ma and "Ænema" as eh-neh-ma (just like "enema"). I'm fairly sure the first pronunciation is correct, as I've heard band members say it this way...although some fans pronounce it like ah-nee-ma. However, I'm not as sure on the song pronunciation. It may be just like the album pronunciation.
I think the funniest part of this reaction is you guys bobbing you heads to different time signatures. you did say that. Check kids cover 46 & 2
The dude in the Phoenix shirt is the first undeniable proof that Tool causes white people to have seizures 😄
Maynard's vocals are not up front in the mix on most songs, he is just another part of the band.
"Learn to swin" made me print a t-shirt
One is Aenima - ah nee ma and the other is Aenema - enema. This is enema 😉
To quote Jack Nicholson's Joker:"This town needs an enema."
You gotta do The Grudge...Their best track IMHO..
Cool dudes and good music🤝
Hey guys, I'd like to introduce you to a new band. "THE NITTY GRITTY DIRT BAND" song "WILL THE CIRCLE BE UNBROKEN with JOHNNY CASH" This was a collab. of some Great Legands that are no longer with us. But it gives you an idea of how respected this band was. Another song with them Only is "MR. BOJANGLES - NITTY GRITTY DIRT BAND [With Lyrics]" They are considered to be a Country Rock Band (a jug band), Folk - Rock and Bluegrass. So they were very versatile. They have a lot of great songs... hope you give them a listen! love your channel thanks
there's like 2 decades of Maynard being loud and in front.
My feelings exactly.
Maynard doesn't have strong vocals? My dudes, "The Grudge" has to be your next one. Or "Rosetta Stoned"
Deftones - Change
Go suns!
I just want to say, latte here in Italy is the word for milk, so I'm asking what does latte means in USA?
Coffee made with espresso and hot steamed milk ☕
@@ViewsFromThe502 this is cappucino here in Italy
Ok, hopefully by now someone's mentioned Tool purposely mixes vocal tracks at the same level/priority as other instruments. That's pro'ly why his voice doesn't sound as strong to many listeners used to hearing vocals loud and centered. One listen to 'The Grudge' will put that 'he doesn't have a strong voice' to rest.
We can deal with lyrics not being in the spotlight in other songs later. 😉
Listen to the grudge
Please react to dire straits - Money for nothing or Sultans of swing. 2 masterpices
Moree deftones
Ooooo....Ticks & Leeches please 🙏
They’re spelled differently because anima is with an I and enema is with an e... so the album is with an I and the song is with an e
perfect circle has more of a vocal focus for maynard
You guys should check out Machine Head's song Halo or Clenching the Fists of Dissent. 🤘🖤
Go Suns!
Why don't you fellas do lyric vids? For chrissakes.
We always have the lyrics pulled up
It's pronounced like enema.
Not a strong voice?
Try The Grudge or Pushit (Live from Salival)
It irks me that they say he doesent have a strong voice, they just keep listening to the wrong ones for that.
People are so "This song has nothing to do with them"..
Stop making excuse.
Theres no hey man here🤣🤘
