- This jeep came in with a no start/crank when hot, (first part of video). Found this to be the solenoid pack. After the pan was dropped we found the accumulator bracket to be damaged so i repaired the valvebody in the 2nd part of the video. Thanks for watching.
I drive a London Taxi With the Chrysler transmission and many thousands of my fellow cabbies are having to replace the pack. My turn has just arrived, but i feel confident to do it myself after washing your video.
Hi Chris, are you getting codes for solenoids? Greetings from New York
Fantastic job Gary. I'll be doing this soon on my 45rfe and my 545rfe. Unfortunately there aren't too many reputable transmission rebuilders here in Houston. They all want to sell you a Jasper unit for 4500.00 installed.
David Sanchez Correction, there aren't many good rebuilders anywhere. They are far in between areas. In your area, I think that's where Hiram Gutierrez is. He's one of the best in that area. I only wish I had contact info for him. Check out his videos too, channel automatic transmission. He and Gary are the 2 guys that, to an extent, walked me through my own repairs. I'm in debt to the both of them, I know how busy they are. I'm a mechanic by trade but transmissions are their own field, kind of like the difference between a dentist & doctor.
Good luck with everything!
Cuba Rodriguez thanks for the heads-up Cuba. I've seen Hiram's videos, and I could have sworn he was on the east coast. I'll head to one of his videos and see where he is. I've rebuilt many motor and transaxles over the years, but I work for a living now and don't have the time that I used to.
Nice information Thanks Gary.
Very good informative video
I just did this solenoid pack change and wished I had seen this before. Wished I would've added the Sonnax plate while I had it out & apart. That plus a few tips I wished I had known to check would've been great. I might pull it again just to recheck. Thanks!
You would know if it's bad, sometimes they bend out of shape
@@GaryFerraro Thanks for replying! Nothing was obviously bad & no pieces in the pan. I really just wished I'd looked at it more closely. Instead I was focused on the solenoid pack. I may pull it apart again to recheck my work, always easier the second time! Live & learn.
@@justinmcc488 You also could see if you just drop the pan
@@GaryFerraro Yes! Thanks!
Is the torque converter solinoide in the solinoid pack?
What is the thread size on that tap again?
Hey Gary! Did you have to ask for the updrade from sonnax or did Transtar say it was available when you ordered a new plate? Thanks!
You don't think too much about a transmission causing a no start. I guess you probably see it more than most though being a Transmission guy.
I just ordered the plate and thats what was sent,
I have the dodge durango 2007 limited edition,I have a problem the gear can’t shift and stuck in 2nd gear, what is the problem and how to solve this problem?
If stuck in 2nd, there may be a code present, i need to know what code is present, car sounds like it's in failsafe
i have P0876
already changed the solenoid pack think i need whole new valve body
code sets on start up
Got a 04 dodge Dakota just recently when going from 2nd to 3rd it’s like it hits neutral. I changed the valve body and pack but still does the same. Was about99% sure that’s what it was. I changed the transducer as well, still the same. Going to change the speed sensors this weekend to see if that works. Any idea what it could be?
sounds like a clutch pack is no good, was it working fine and suddenly this problem?
Gary Ferraro at first is started doing that you could let it cool down and it would go back to normal. Would shift through all the gears just fine. I was told that when changing the pack you have to reset the computer to recognize the new pack.
What do you mean clutch pack? You mean solenoid pack? Cause I changed that.
