I love how Sol and Luna are very attentive to details. It's not just that they're doing a reaction video, but they're really learning the history of the Philippines. Especially with Aguinaldo, Luna was able to mention that it was before the independent republic of the Philippines. Kudos to both of you. Very smart ladies.

A republic is a form of government in which "supreme power is held by the people and their elected representatives". The Philippines recognizes 5 republics in its history. While Emilio Aguinaldo was the first President and the first president of the first republic. Manuel Roxas was the fifth president of the Philippines but was the first president of the third republic.

Recent artefacts discovered in numerous sites show that Christianity came to the Philippines first through Indian missionaries around the 10th century AD but from the Eastern Church and that was why Magellan and early colonisers were welcomed enthusiastically when locals saw the cross on the sails. Aguinaldo was president of the first Philippine Republic while we were still battling the Americans after the Spanish defeat.

Laurel" also became the only Filipino President under the Japanese rule since Japan made thr Philippines a puppet state back then during the wwII).

Yup, the first president of the first republic was emilio aguinaldo but Philippine-american war happened and then when we lost to japanese empire, we had our 2nd republic and Jose P. Laurel as the president under japanese rule.. so after the world war 2, we gained our independence and manuel roxas became the first president of the 3rd republic.. but overall, he is our 5th president..
And it is a controversy of who really is our first president because many people at that time believed andres Bonifacio should have won and became the first president but he was not able to get a fair trial and was also assassinated...

You should also know that many Filipino-Chinese had to change their surnames from Chinese to Spanish in order to lessen or avoid discrimination. One example was the great grandfather of Jose Rizal. My grandfather kept his Chinese surname so did my mom but interestingly enough my uncles used their mother's surname which is Spanish so they are siblings but have different surnames. We might have our 3rd female president in 2028. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo was a vice-president first. We have our 3rd female vice-president this term (Duterte's daughter) who could have won as president but she decided to be the running mate of this term's president (Marcos, Jr.). From 2016-2022, we had a vice-president who defeated/"cheated allegedly" Marcos Jr. The Supreme Court made a controversial decision that there was no cheating. This year's presidential election seemed to prove that there was cheating because that vice-president (Leonor Robredo) ran for presidency and lost to Marcos by 16M votes. When they ran as vice-presidents, Marcos "lost" by 265K votes.

Anyways, only a very small minority of the filipino population actually have hispanic blood

Before Spanish colonizers reached the Philippine Archipelago, there were already trading that took place between these islanders and other Asian countries like Arabia India China Japan Europeans etc.before it became Filipinas, it was called Kingdom of Maharlika.the kingdom with territories more vast than the Present Philippines.check the Laguna Copperplate Incriptions year 822 AD.The language of the Archipelago in year 822 is not the present day Tagalog but an archaic form of Tagalog.it had words of ancient Tagalog malay arab ethnic language and Sanskrit.the prime product of This Maharlika kingdom is Gold.the reason why Spanish colonized this archipelago.

19:24 the Philippines has been progressive actually even though we're a devout catholic nation , women and homosexuals are treated with respect 😎👌🇵🇭 everyone Respects. there are many women in Philippines Politics , one of the most iconic are Sara Duterte ( daughter of Rodrigo Duterte ) , Imelda Marcos ( wife of Marcos senior and mother of Marcos junior ) , Leni Robredo ( leader of the liberal party same with Corazon Aquino ) , Imee Marcos ( Adopted Sister of Marcos Junior ) , I suggest reacting to Marcos Juniors RUclips videos like Music Game News.

You are right! The Philippine government is mostly, unfortunately, a dynasty.
Diosdado Macapagal is the father of Gloria Arroyo y Macapagal.
Benigno Simeon "Noynoy" Aquino III is the son of Maria Corazon Aquino y Cojuangco.
And the current president Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. is the son of Ferdinand Marcos Sr., the one who ruled as a dictator.

We consider our independence when the Filipinos defeated the Spaniards in 1898 and declared our independence(Aguinaldo was the one who declared Philippine independence in 1898 and became the first president but his leadership was short, later he surrendered to the Americans during the Philippine-American war). The Filipinos have already liberated the whole country except the walled city of Manila which is Intramuros where all the Spanish government offices are located. The Americans came and would not let the Filipinos join the contingent that would storm Intramuros(maybe there was already a prenegotiation between the Americans and Spaniards prior to this). The defeat of the Spaniards by the Americans is just for a show, a fake or a moromoro because the Spaniards could not accept the fact that natives which they called monkeys would defeat them, so instead they sold the Philippines to the Americans who are white like them. If the Spaniards were trully defeated, the Americans would have no obligation to pay the losers.
