- How Champions Practice Their Golf Swing. A long, but incredibly important deep dive for all of you out there who ingest so much of our content. Conceptual understanding is important, but what is even more important is taking those concepts and applying them in your PRACTICE sessions. The golf swing needs to move from complex understanding to simple athleticism. Here is a HOW TO on that process.

Greatest golf instruction right here. Love the different types of things they touch on with each video. Keep it up boys.
Appreciate you bro
Great instruction. Definitely need to constantly guard against falling into the particular bad habits each golfer has lurking. Like the 3 progression idea on the range - hope to get there one day.
Right on Jim. Awareness is step one!
Thx guys! Love your content. Agree 100% with this. I’ve been playing with 8 clubs for many years and 80% of my range work is hitting “shots”. Gonna have to borrow some of that to incorporate the ribs forward and rotation system. Makes so much sense. I love the process and am excited to work toward the next level of ball striking.
Excellent! The different thoughts we all have at some point in our practice, great teaching. Thanks. I'm 66 with 2 artificial hips and I don't have the distance I once had, but I am striking it now.
You guys and Milo have helped me get back to where I was back in the 1980s. I am hitting my 7 iron, today, very close to what I was hitting my 5 iron just a couple months ago, I am getting golf strong.
You guys are "the" elite and best. Thank you.
Thanks so much man!
You guys hits so many key points which us weekend Amateur warriors don’t understand and / or do! Great insight, I do try when I go the range I’m starting with the basics and moving from there but no one has ever explained to how to really practice. Thank you for sharing.
So glad you enjoyed brotha
A shot tracker would be so awesome here.
Getting some great new tech in the coming weeks that will allow us to do that 😉
Great swing Advice tips
Thanks so much!!!!! 🙏❤️
You guys produce some of the best golf content on the interwebs. You have less than 10k subscribers. What would happen if you moved out of mom and dad's basement and started doing 'stuff'? I foresee amazing things coming from this channel!
100% agree. Praying these guys move towards a TXG-level quality. Good lighting, audio, etc would be huge. I don’t really care about any fancy production, just this content with an extra ~20% quality upgrade.
@@M_G_D_1 Fancy production comes with the territory. This is the best golf instruction content out there.
Very constructive criticism here. Upgrades coming soon 🙏
Thanks guys😊
Our pleasure!
Can’t wait!

Nice work gentlemen. Feels are one of those abstracts things, but you know when you find it. Things maybe worth considering. Find the Spiral Line within you that ties your center to the Motion. Ride the Wave that sends energy out to the ball. Once I pressure the ground I ride the wave that is being drawn back up. TJs first strike was heavy as he said because he was on his back foot. You both have played around with the Flared Left Heel as the base of the Left Back Chain Spiral. This Motion Draws your Center Forward in order to Flush your Strike. Myself, I prefer Motion over movement, Pressure over weighting and Containment over waist. Clearly you guys are at the Top of the Learning Process!
Good Stuff 🙏
Love these “implementing the system” type videos guys. I’ve been trying to work this into my range sessions but really struggle beyond phase 1 mentioned here (when I introduce any speed it falls apart). Should I just stick with phase 1 until it’s ingrained? Chronic early extender and trying to reverse pulling from the top and tipping over/steepening the shaft in the downswing.
@@OWDrummer1 people are either boulders or play-dough… sounds like you fall into the boulder category in which you need more enhanced (exaggerated) movement/principles to truly fall into the system.
Another way to look at it is to put as much energy into the system while staying within the confines of the system. Not just, hit it hard now 👍
@@elitegolfschools makes perfect sense thanks!
@@OWDrummer1 🙏🙏
Love the content and really like the swing theories you guys teach. I’d really appreciate some additional breakdown regarding shallowing with the lead shoulder high. I can see it in many pro swings as most are not inside to inside rather fairly steep in approach yet the club drops inside as it passes the hands. I am getting more consistent at it but still struggle to understand the approach factors that make shallowing this way possible without causing other issues. Thanks again for all the great vids!
Yep! Our 'Orion's Belt' video should help quite a bit. We go into pretty deep detail on the lead arm in transition in that particular video
I will go through your material and try to find some key movements and drills that I believe are vital for MY system to work, to trust them and to avoid experimenting just because I am getting bored. Probably also by less driving range balls each time as well. Thanks
Fantastic! Keep up posted on your progress!
To think Tiger put all of this into unspeakable success is a ode to his genius
Absolutely! Amazing 🙏🙏❤️
What are you guys thoughts on hitting off a mat over grass? My strikes a consistently better off a mat.
Either are fine IF you have a quality mat that proves good feedback…
Thank you for your great content, it has changed my perspectives on how to swing the club after 40 yrs of playing. A question on practice though; this seems to be an approach to practice when you are well familiar with the "system" and perform the movements you want reasonably well. When you learn this system, is there a preferred order you would like players to take on the movements (together with understanding the ideas)? Thanks again!
For sure, however, the learning never stops. Implementing a few key concepts or ideas that you want to improve upon will serve you very well on a day to day basis.
Felt like you made this video for me 🫡
What difference (if any) would you guys make in objective and process, regarding a pre-game warm up where say you could only hit 20-30 balls in a short space of time before heading out for a round?
No real difference, just don’t have as much time to play around and hit shots. Hit 5-10 balls in phase 1, 3-5 balls in phase 2, and then move to phase 3 if comfortable
Great content, it’s nice to hear that even players with mastery need ways to get back on the rails within a session. I drift into hitting heel or toe shots (while stuck in phase 2)and have to back off and recalibrate. Is this common and are there any specific “back to phase 1” tactics if this happens?
Very common! Everyone has their own go-to drills in phase 1, but probably the most universal help is a simple impact progression. (Chipping balls through the bottom to find center contact)
Club selection for distance is relevant
It is, however, if you are going to be proficient in the game, you've got to be able to control the distance based on energy inputs and outputs.
Your opening comments, was me today, at the range. I could hit PW to 7 at half pace, trying your swing concepts, but going faster or using longer clubs was a disaster. I was lost on what to do. I can’t take what I practiced to the course. How do people manage using their old swing on the course , while trying to learn your concept off the course?
@@Benb55 if you’re going to make the change, make the change… no range swing and course swing! Also, just know it is a spectrum of movement in all golf swings. And diagnosing what you need in your action to make it excel is the whole deal. So before integrating items, make darned sure that you’re diagnosing correctly what is needed 👍👍
@ I understand what you’re saying, it makes sense. I want to make sure I have the concept and the corresponding swing in sync. I couldn’t even do your slow version of the driver swing to get a draw. I was hitting them slowly with a slight fade. If I went harder, they sliced. I need more reps of the concept to override my awful slice, that turns up from time to time. I’m normally hitting a fade with driver, thank goodness.
@ gotcha! I would also take a look at our stop slicing driver video. Might give some insight to this 👍
@@elitegolfschools I’ve watched that video many times. Great video, you make the drill look so easy. I’d just love to hit a drive 200 metres, that’s approximately 220 yards.
@ just build my man and the more you drip in quality concepts the better off you’ll be as you continue to progress!!
Oftentimes when my swing gets wonky it is because my feet alignment start to work their way closed to my intended target. Sometimes a shank is the outcome. But i can usually readjust now after years of dealing with it.
What's the main 1-2 things you'd recommend we do to make sure we are even doing Phase #1 correctly? Slowly, methodically making an incorrect movement won't help much I'd imagine
This couple minutes was a huge help for me. ruclips.net/user/clipUgkxdcV9pm0Q-H5QUNsopcXNZIOKLw3GWfP3?si=N_KZIBZDKsPBcOQ4
It depends on the student. A number of different focal points are applicable, depending on your pattern. That’s where other videos of ours might help you out 🙏
Is there a test or something to determine which kind of golf swing I have in regards to what you discussed on Mark Immelmann’s podcast? I don’t want to try and learn or practice something that goes against my DNA.
Look at the club and take a look at how much pelvic rotation vs pelvic drop you have in your action
@@elitegolfschoolscan you explain this in more detail?
@@tmc3980 pelvic drop pairs with thoracic rotation, pelvic rotation/trail hip extension matches with spine tilt 🙏
@@elitegolfschools awesome. As a 35 year old 6 handicapper, is it worth me going for the pelvic drop and thoracic rotation?
@@tmc3980 I would always weigh any change and what the desired outcome is first before making any change whether it’s large or small 🙏
So you hit a 190 yard 7 iron 182 yards, What do you do to take 8 yards off the shot?
Awesome again thank you. What kills me is when I’m on the course and playing poorly I can’t self diagnose until about the 16th hole . Goldfish golf any thoughts?
Trust your instincts 🙏
So did you move to Colorado from AZ?
Correct! We still have locations in AZ, though.
I think what he is trying to say is
- have one swing thought which is a movement
- practice this a few times until comfortable ( 9 iron?)
- practice this at 50, 75 and 100%
Leave range once accomplised
?
If so, it would make good sense as the mind to body axis is quite fluid and not cluttered with t
20 swing thoughts
Bingo
Every subconsciously controlled, complex chain action is initiated by a single intention. Change any link within the chain and the intention has to change. One swing thought doesnt work the next time if we change any link within the chain action, the next time. As we trust our subconscious in order to drive our vehicles, we need to trust the proper, 'intention' for a repetitive DS.
From top of BS to Impact is too short a time period(less than 1/4 second) for conscious control. It has to be a preprogrammed subconscious, complex chain action.
If I feel good after hitting a few shots, what should I do? Change to another club and start doing similar things?
Hit different shots! Different curves, trajectories, sometimes different clubs, yes 🙏
@@elitegolfschools thanks!
Today was a tough day for me , took a week off in hopes to go to the range today and turn it into a great day.
Gotta say, it went exactly how you explained. Started great, changed clubs and started falling apart the more I tried- I can hit a driver great (which was a massive fail for me before) to now not being able to hit an iron.
Thank you for telling me I’m human and how I should process a range or practice session. This will change my mindset and I will work slowly towards a proper system. I’ll review some videos on how to build my swing again and stay consistent - that’s my major issue.
Great video guys, you’ve earned a new sub! ✊
Let’s go man! For Sure human. Everybody does this stuff
Why do I see some players that can stick it to the pin in approach shots? Can you talk a little about that?
Not sure I understand the question? Sounds like they’re just good iron players
What's your best advice for everyone who hits good on the range, but not on the course?
Develop a sound pre-shot routine and stick to it 🫡
