Ooooh man...if you enjoyed Lzzy, you GOTTA listen to her collaboration with The Hu singing Song of Women. What a BEAUTIFUL mix of cultures, talents, and skills.
The live versions of this are pretty friggin awesome. Lzzy gets that whistle scream in and you can damn near feel it in your bones. She's an amazing singer.

I know this is kinda late, but the way Lzzy is singing is called singing with distortion. It sounds similar to how a guitar sounds when it is distorted. It is a totally natural sound and you can actually hear it a bit when she talks as well.
I saw that when it came out and to me that was a cringy performance with vocals sounding nervous, forced and not in tune. But hey, that's just MY opinion! =)
Her vocals are amazing. She is going 100% in this song. I love the smooth and the gritty like the love and the hate of the lyrics. She must have some incredible control not to blow out her voice. You can hear and see the anger in the video. Great song!
OMG I would LOOOOVE to see this! I've been a huge fan of theirs since they first put out a 4 song demo before Beautiful Tragedy was released. I was hooked within the first 30 seconds and have been ever since. And GD did I love them live. It's now my mission to put this recommendation in every new reaction from Elisabeth!!

I guarantee it will make your music listening experience that much better. You can find the course on my website here: thecharismaticvoice.com/music-appreciation/
Another Halestorm rec for you: Heart of Novocaine. It's an acoustic track and there's a live studio session of the band performing it a little over a year ago. No post production, just instruments and vocals, and Lzzy brings the thunder. From the low notes to the high belts, clean singing at the start to that hard Lzzy grit. And lots of close ups to see what her mouth and neck are doing. Great track for really analyzing her vocal work in action. And just a great track in general
2 years or so ago...I got to see Evanescence with orchestra(for the 2nd time!) and Lindsey Sterling touring together ... and she had Amy Lee sing Shatter me , was amazing
Ya gotta check out their song "FREAK LIKE ME". she hits an impossible note and holds it for awhile. Thanks for helping us learn more about how music is actually made! 🤟
Lzzy is an amazing singer. I took my stepdaughter to see Halestorm in concert for a Christmas gift 2 years ago and they were just as great live. This is a good song choice to be introduced to her vocal style with. :)
I saw Halestorm live at Summerfest in Milwaukee years ago before they became a well known band. I think they only had one single out at that time. They were opening for the headliner at that stage. When she got on the piano and played "Break In", they literally had the entire crowd speachless. That was when i knew they were going to be big. The entire concert that night was amazing. Great show and great vocals for a live performance.
I've had the absolute pleasure of seeing Halestorm play 5 times now. I believe the first show I went to was 2012. And holy moly... They slay it every. single. time. They sound almost exactly the same as on their albums... her "belts", "screams", "high notes" (not sure of the correct term) that she sings live are so much better live and in person. Maybe it's because I admire her so much and have since the day I found out about Halestorm. It just hits different live and in such a beautiful and powerful way. Not to mention Lzzy, Arejay, Joe, and Josh are super duper kind and humble and such sweet humans. I have a signed poster from them hanging up in my room. It's my most cherished possession 😂🖤🤘
lzzy hale has the most INCREDIBLE voice oh my god !!!! seeing her live last week at wembly i have never heard a vocie with so much power and presence. wow wow wow! she really is the best female rock singer i swear down
When the world suffocates me with negativity it’s such a relief to watch Elizabeth’s videos. She’s so wholesome it’s like an antidote to the everyday bs.
You should check out that video that was linked at the end of her singing Break In with Amy Lee. Too many people have been sleeping on that team up and it’s so good
Lizzy is just badasss... That voice is beyond belief and I think she's very deliberate in how she drives her punches. Her power and emotion comes through as if she's uncovering just a portion. There's definitely more to come. I love listening to her, would really love to sing a duet with her(in my dreams)....lol Thanks for covering her. I also thoroughly enjoyed your coverage of Cash's "Hurt".... That song, as well this song, speaks to my emotions...........a lot.
When I saw Halestorm July 2022, Lzzy between songs mentioned and thanked her vocal coach/teacher in high school, for giving her the foundations of good vocal technique. Great moment and appreciation
Saw Halestorm for the third time last Friday and they just keep getting better. Just for fun I took a noise meter and I miss the misery was in the mid 90 dB (A) range but that ‘hurt’ Elizabeth mentioned took the peak level up to 106.6dD (A)! Lzzy has one powerful voice. By the way they supported Alter Bridge and Myles is also an amazing singer.
Halestorm has a song called Freak Like Me and in it Lzzy hits this crazy high and long note. It sounds so crazy that you think it was extended in production, but no, because she hit it at her live concerts too. Absolutely insane fierce voice
Best thing about all your videos is seeing your actual reaction. Unlike a lot of people you actually show it on your face and it really draws a person into the video. Such an amazing way of breaking it down and explaining everything.
Oh man they have so many good songs! I Am The Fire, Here's To Us, Mz Hyde, Uncomfortable, and so many more. Edit: Now that I watched the video I see you've heard Here's To Us. You really need to listen to I Am The Fire. Same awesome lyrics and same powerhouse vocals plus an awesome video. Also highly recommend her duet with Lindsey Sterling called Shatter Me. Her vocals on that song give me chills every single time. Also an amazing video!
I just love how excited you get! Lzzy Hale takes her vocals pretty serious and I just love how smart she is with her voice. The song Break In by Halestorm would be a good one to review.
I have seen them live twice and they kill it every step of the way. Have you done I am the Fire? I think that is probably my favorite of theirs, the lyrics hit with me and the power she packs is absolutely amazing!
Pre-Covid, i think they used to run about 250-300 shows per year. I question why her voice hasn't popped yet either. Seen them live twice....she belts it out just as good if not better live. Love it!! One of the best female rock vocalist to come out in a long time.
I love how expressive your facials features are when you’re listening. I just found your channel through RUclips suggestions and wasn’t instantly interested but when I watched your episode with Metallica “One” I was drawn in. Very nice work and it’s fun to watch.
Everything transitions into the next part so smoothly and quickly, then that transitioned part instantly transitions into the next part etc. It's like flying through a rollercoaster of different parts with how there's no stopping, just full power through all the different stuff with no hesitation. It's constructed so well to do that. Reminds me of writing lyrics for rap, where everything has to fit together in the right way to work optimally. Some songs just work... they click... this is one of those. It's cracked the code to being a really good song. Even if it's not one's cup of tea, that can still be recognised. I've heard plenty of songs that I didn't enjoy, but I could tell that they perfectly hit all the right requirements and little elements for a banger of a song, making it just, work. It's something you have to feel. The ass-kickery in this song is very high.
I love Pretty Reckless. I think her voice is getting the grit and control she always wanted more recently. I would LOVE to see @CharismaticVoice react to "We Will Rock You" with Lzzy Hale, Taylor Momsen and Marina Brink. Kick. Ass.
Actually, a great one to watch is Lzzy and Eric Church live at the 2014 CMA awards. Prime example of how a vocalist can completely change the tone of a song.
And cause Nicole Kidman to ask "who the f*ck is that?" on live tv. (That part has been edited out from the video since the first time I saw it but Lzzy has mentioned it as well.) Also, I saw them do this song live in Boise, while obviously sick, and she still blew Church out of the water.
YEEEES! Elizabeth! Halestorm needs more reactions. Lzzy is amazing, I've seen Halestorm live four times and she is as amazing! Thank you for reacting to Halestorm. I love your music choice variety.
I was a music student in college, at the end of ever term (semester) we would put on a gig. My band chose to cover this as the final song of our set, and damn was it the most fun but vocally challenging thing I’ve ever done. Hands down best performance we ever did
Lzzy is a force of nature, it's like hearing a lioness roar straight to your face. SHE. IS. FIERCE. Elisabeth, if you liked her on the studio recording, check out Halestorm's live performances please, there she givers her very best. And thanks for reacting to my top female crush XD
Hello Elizabeth, this is a first listen to this for me too. Wow Lizzy Hale is such a good singer, great power. I love your reactions, I am always surprised how giddy you get.
Listen to the song “break in” from halestorm feat. Amy lee it’s done beautifully and it’s just the 2 of them live singing in a recording studio together
Lzzy is honestly one of the best vocalists around these days, and her guitar definitely places her with the gods. What's even better is her mainstream appeal. She's guested with acts across the spectrum, from Lindsey Stirling to Eric Church to MGK to In This Moment. She does ballads and hard-driving rock and everything in between. This is a once-in-a-generation talent and a true successor to Lita Ford and Joan Jett.
The only vocal coach worth listening and watching here in RUclips. Genuine and not trying hard or just acting like the rest of the voice coaches here in YT.
If you've never seen them live, she is very impressive. And one of the nicest musicians I've ever had the chance of meeting at a show, she was so sweet and kind. But yeah seeing her live she really shows off her talent.
Oh my goodness I've never watched this channel before but I absolutely love this song and this was awesome! I love how impressed you seemed with her voice, and the way you explain exactly what's going on in terms of making those sounds.
I was hoping you’d get to Halestorm. They are amazing and Lizzy’s voice is great. She and Amy Lee do an amazing song called “Break In” and their voices are amazing together. She also does an excellent song with The Hu “Song of Women.” You should take a look at them.
Flyleaf missed out on a great singer. Lacey was the meat of the band and well now it's what's her name. Lacey could grab your attention and make you feels chills. "I'm So Sick" is what got me. I was wow.
For a powerful and fun live performance by Lzzy, I recommend checking out Eric Church ft Lzzy Hale, "That's Damn Rock and Roll". She blows the roof off the place.
I love that one. Obviously they had rehearsed together, but I'm pretty sure that she held back during that as she surprises him at the end with what she can do.
I just found another version from the 2014 CMA fest. The overall audio quality, especially Eric's voice, are a bit louder. But I still prefer the 2014 CMT Awards version. Lzzy rocks harder in that one, and Eric shows more passion in his stage presence.
@@frankie467 not necessarily. Depends on the style and the role within the song. I think they blended well together and represented a wider range of "rock" sounds.
Ok so I found this looking at Halestorm vids... As a 58 year old man people find it odd that Lzzy is my favorite singer but that voice is just so unforgettable. And your delivery of your take is simply awesome. I've neve= seen one of your vids before But the more I listened to you the more I liked you! Your smile m and enthusiasm is so natural, you gave me takes on her singing that I can't put into words but you did. Simply love discovering different things - like you, thanks.
I think her most powerful recorded live vocal may be when she was invited to duet "That's Damn Rock n, Roll" with Eric Church at the CMA awards. Her gritty screams were amazing!
Their covers of Slave to the Grind and Bad Romance really show of her vocals IMO. The former particularly the scream on the intro live is utterly superb!

Back when Lzzy Hale still drank, I was at a music festival in the VIP section & ended up doing a shot with Lzzy Hale & Ivan Moody from Five Finger Death Punch. Both fantastic, down to earth people.
Ooooh man...if you enjoyed Lzzy, you GOTTA listen to her collaboration with The Hu singing Song of Women. What a BEAUTIFUL mix of cultures, talents, and skills.
Early frontrunner for Crossover/Collaboration Band of the Century. Really dig these guys!
The Hu is awesome... full stop.
I like The Hu, but not that song you have to listen Yuve Yuve Yu, i think is the best
I second this statement.
I love that collab! Such a great song. ^^
You should check out Halestorm with Amy Lee from Evanescence performing “Break In”, their voices are amazing together
This. They're sooooooo good together.
Yesss!!!
Omg yeeeeeesssss I love their song together Break in actually had my shed some tears cause it was so beautiful and passionate in my opinion
I think I was the only person that didn't like this...
I prefer the studio version they did, over the one they did during social distancing.
I would recommend that one specifically.
Their version of Bad Romance is great. Also, Lzzy does a great duet with David Draiman of the song ‘Close my eyes forever’.
It’s a cover of an Ozzie Osbourne and lita Ford song.
Their version of hearts all I wanna do is make love to you is absolutely amazing and dare I say better than the original 😳🙊
Thanks for the info I'm excited to check this out.
I had no idea she collaborated with Draimen! Both their bands are in my top 5
The live versions of this are pretty friggin awesome. Lzzy gets that whistle scream in and you can damn near feel it in your bones. She's an amazing singer.
Celebrate with us in our 250K party LIVE for a chance to win free prizes! We’ll be streaming the event on RUclips THIS FRIDAY, February 26 at noon Arizona time.
I could use a party! Congrats
Congratulations !!!
You have the best facial expressions.
I know this is kinda late, but the way Lzzy is singing is called singing with distortion. It sounds similar to how a guitar sounds when it is distorted. It is a totally natural sound and you can actually hear it a bit when she talks as well.
Pro trick: watch series at kaldrostream. Been using them for watching loads of movies these days.
Nice to see you review halestorm. The best song for you to review is "familiar taste of poison", the live version on the jimmy fallon show.
I saw that when it came out and to me that was a cringy performance with vocals sounding nervous, forced and not in tune. But hey, that's just MY opinion! =)
Yes, yes, yes!! 😄👍🏻
I second this, but the music video version.
@@TheMack I'll agree that it sounded like she was trying a bit too hard, I love Lzzy and she sounds best relaxed just doing what she does.
Familiar taste of poison is definitely the numer 1 song that I would want reviewed on this channel. So much emotion and so tastefully done.
Of you're not okay with it ending, there's only one solution, more Halestorm songs in the future ;)
Now that you’ve been introduced to Lizzy Hale you need to analyze “Break In” a duet with Lizzy Hale and Amy Lee from Evanescence .
Her vocals are amazing. She is going 100% in this song. I love the smooth and the gritty like the love and the hate of the lyrics. She must have some incredible control not to blow out her voice. You can hear and see the anger in the video. Great song!
Has she discovered "In This Moment" yet? Talk about great female vocals, Maria Brink of their group is incredible.
In this moment would be great!
Big Bad Wolf.
Maria brink 🤤
I would absolutely love to hear her react to Maria
Lzzy and Amy Lee have a beautiful duet called “Break In” that I think you’ll really enjoy - check it out! Their voices compliment each other so well.
She’s just as powerful in live shows. It’s insane.
"It looks like this song is about to end and I'm not ok with that". - That's how I feel in the final moments of most Halestorm songs.
I related to that sentence all too well.
Same
That feeling is amplified x100 at their shows 😭
Hello lovely fans! If you're enjoying my reaction & analysis videos and learning more about music, I recommend checking out my Music Appreciation Course! This course deep dives into time signatures, tempo, pitch, dynamics, key, music production, and most of all, vocal registers! I guarantee it will make your music listening experience that much better. You can find the course on my website here: thecharismaticvoice.com/music-appreciation/
Lizzy Hale is better at playing that Gibson then she sings even ,if you can imagine that .
Her facial expressions are more entertaining than the music video.
Try Shatter Me by Lyndsey Sterling, Lzzy Hale is the vocalist on it.
Sirius XM version only, the acoustic one.
@@romanzbawiciel5221 it's ok but the official video is so much better
I agree. I have been to a couple of Lindsay performances. Lizzie was on tape🙁. Not touring for one song.
2 years or so ago...I got to see Evanescence with orchestra(for the 2nd time!) and Lindsey Sterling touring together ... and she had Amy Lee sing Shatter me , was amazing
* Lindsey Stirling
Halestorm performing “Familiar Taste of Poison” at the WZZO Studios. This is such an amazing live performance, highly recommend!
I love the version they did on Jimmy Fallon.
I LOVE that you rewind the videos so often! I then get a chance to see what you’re describing- it helps so much! Love your vids!
Ya gotta check out their song "FREAK LIKE ME". she hits an impossible note and holds it for awhile. Thanks for helping us learn more about how music is actually made! 🤟
Every time she hits that note I swear it's a guitar
Lzzy is an amazing singer. I took my stepdaughter to see Halestorm in concert for a Christmas gift 2 years ago and they were just as great live. This is a good song choice to be introduced to her vocal style with. :)
Their live cover of 'Girl Crush' shows how Lzzy gets the gritty emotion out in a slower softer song. I love it.
familiar taste of poison is slow and its theirs
I highly recommend “Familiar Taste of Poison” by Halestorm! The song is phenomenal and gives me chills every time I listen to it!
Saw her live in a festival and I remember feeling like there was some sort of Goddess on the stage. It's a supernatural force. Unbelievable.
Her cover of 'all I wanna do' from heart is amazing
The message behind this song is just relatable based on my past experience. Thanks for pointing that out, Liz :)
Love the joy you always display when listening to various singing styles. It's infectious.
You should check out her singing break in with Amy lee. The way their voices sound together is out of this world!
You should check out that video that was linked at the end of her singing Break In with Amy Lee. Too many people have been sleeping on that team up and it’s so good
I personally prefer just Lzzy
Have you heard Lzzy Hale's lyrics she wrote to sing with The HU's " Song of Woman"?
That one is sooo good
Saw Halestorm for the third time last Friday and they just keep getting better.
I've seen Halestorm live three times and no one keeps the energy high like them. From the first note to the last, it's just insane.
I feel like a lot of people here are sleeping on killing Ourselves to Live
I just love how excited you get!
Lzzy Hale takes her vocals pretty serious and I just love how smart she is with her voice. The song Break In by Halestorm would be a good one to review.
Funny, the used to play locally here and opened for my brother's band. They disbanded, and Lizzie kept going. Good for her!
The only coach on YT that will look at any genre and show her genuine emotion and thoughts. I LOVE HER!
Zach Wylde was quoted as saying "she has pipes of doom." I have seen her live a couple of times, she sounds amazing.
Can't agrue with Zakk Wylde. Guy played with Ozzy - the god of metal !
familiar taste of poison and i am the fire are her two "strongest" vocals as songs to check in the future. her control in them is just insane.
YES! Can't wait for this reaction.
Recommendation: 25 (unplugged) by The Pretty Reckless
Cindy Lou Who!!!
I would like to see this one reviewed
@@sopwithsnoopy8779 The very same.
I love Pretty Reckless. I think her voice is getting the grit and control she always wanted more recently. I would LOVE to see @CharismaticVoice react to "We Will Rock You" with Lzzy Hale, Taylor Momsen and Marina Brink. Kick. Ass.
“The song looks like it’s almost over, and I’m not ok with that” Me every time I listen to Halestorm 😍
Actually, a great one to watch is Lzzy and Eric Church live at the 2014 CMA awards. Prime example of how a vocalist can completely change the tone of a song.
ruclips.net/video/HiIJprCQavc/видео.html
Yes! That's the song that finally got me into Halestorm. My father was watching the CMTs and I went "hey wait, who's that?!"
And cause Nicole Kidman to ask "who the f*ck is that?" on live tv. (That part has been edited out from the video since the first time I saw it but Lzzy has mentioned it as well.)
Also, I saw them do this song live in Boise, while obviously sick, and she still blew Church out of the water.
I was about to post the same suggestion! :D
@@180_Evil That's the video I would choose!
YEEEES! Elizabeth! Halestorm needs more reactions. Lzzy is amazing, I've seen Halestorm live four times and she is as amazing! Thank you for reacting to Halestorm. I love your music choice variety.
I was fortunate enough to see Halestorm live last year. No recording I've heard captures the full complexity and power of her voice. Just phenomenal!
I love the passion you show for music, you can see in the way you listen and and your facial expressions, can tell there's true love there.
Listen to Lacey Sturm sing I'm so Sick when she was with Flyleaf. She has an amazing range and scream!
Lacey Sturm kills it!
I saw Lacey live a few years ago on her "Life Screams" tour. She is amazing!
I love that performance. Highly recommend for those who havent seen it yet
I just found another version from the 2014 CMA fest. The overall audio quality, especially Eric's voice, are a bit louder. But I still prefer the 2014 CMT Awards version. Lzzy rocks harder in that one, and Eric shows more passion in his stage presence.
Rule number one: never have a guest vocalist who is a much better vocalist than you. Eric Church missed that memo.
Simply love discovering different things - like you, thanks.
literally unteachable talent, there. that can only be found within a person. so insanely good.
Lzzy hale She has so many sides to see
Soft side: dear daughter
Another good rock style: I am the fire
I think her most powerful recorded live vocal may be when she was invited to duet "That's Damn Rock n, Roll" with Eric Church at the CMA awards. Her gritty screams were amazing!
The people in the crowd didn’t know how to react she’s such a powerhouse
Their covers of Slave to the Grind and Bad Romance really show of her vocals IMO. The former particularly the scream on the intro live is utterly superb!
One of my favorite Halestorm songs is I Like it Heavy, and there’s this verse that plays after the main song and it’s one of my favorite vocal moments from her.
With all due respect, you are STUNNINGLY beautiful Miss Elizabeth (& you have an absolutely flawless smile)!I love the channel, love the reaction vids, love your singing, and positively adore your enthusiasm! Keep doing what you do!
