just modified my motorguide 30 plus. I used a plumber's pipe cutter since mine is a steel pipe and this worked when drilling I used a hacksaw blade to keep wires at bay when drilling through for new base mounting holes. waiting on the rest of items required to build my PWM box!

You took the proper precautions, nice work. It’s really a easy process. Glad your build is coming along. If I can ever answer any questions just let me know. Thanks for the comment.

I can’t seem to find a video on how you get the head close enough to control from your seat on the kayak. Do you have to extend the wiring? How do you wound the head to turn of and on?

When you remove the head of a trolling motor you use what’s called a PWM or a EAC to control the on and off and the speed of the motor.

Yes and when you extend the wires use 8awg wire.

I have a prowler 30lb thrust that looks identical to yours. My question is how do you fix the extended handle. Mine just comes out on its own. I would like for you to do a video on it. May sound elementary but I may be missing parts that makes it just slide out. Also is the switch a universal switch for all of the minn kota motors?

The silver piece of the handle that connects to the switch should have a small screw in it. And yes that switch is almost the same in all 30lb motors.

@@334tacticaloutdoors I was given this trolling motor off the boat and the guy took it apart when we got back to his house and tore it apart and that is where the piece(s) started missing. The switch quit working so that is why i started asking questions. I want to fix this and mount it on the back of my boat. Where do you order your switches at?

You would come out cheaper hooking it up to a PWM and connecting a handle for steering.

@@334tacticaloutdoors watched that but are you putting the handle back on the pipe for steering? Or do you have something else to put in it’s pkace

@rickwilson2848 you can make any handle. You can attach it by drilling a hole and putting a bolt through it.

I wanna put mine all the way down in the skeg or detachable rudder no pipe at all kinda the Bixpy but with a cheaper and more powerful motor. Ideas lol

Trying to waterproof where that shaft goes to the motor would be a issue.

@334tacticaloutdoors thanks for letting me know I thought the cables came out through the tube already sealed, and tube was just there for support. Will try 5200 sealer or epoxy
