God that guitar is so beautiful
It's not mine, I just borrowed it :D It's a McKnight guitar
@@neilchanmusichey, bro i think solfege is same as scales or whatever, i know scales, but i'm confused in their different positions, different shapes, and different pattern. Every youtuber explains the same thing in different ways. And i'm too confused and frustrated, can you just suggest me anything i just want to know where do i start like for example i pick a song so where do i start in the guitar which fret. Please suggest me something or recommend if there's any video of yours about this. THANKS!
really helpful tutorial ty..
btw how do we record an acoustic guitar?
Just use a single condenser mic is a good start. and you're welcome!
I can't believe i found this
You are most welcome!
I've lots more videos on arrangement on my channel too that you should check out :)
@@neilchanmusic gonna watch all of them for suure
Enjoy!
How do we know the various chords shape being used there sir🤔
Hey Neil, may I ask you something? At 9:37 that you said "improvised fingering around the chords... it elevates the melodies". I want to learn the idea behind it and how to do it? Is there a specific keyword to look for on this topic? or even better, do you have a video that you talk about this? Thank you so much in advance
Hey Sakpat! Thanks for your question. Essentially I am arpeggiating the chord while playing the melody, that is playing individual notes of the chord to decorate the main melodic line. You could try searching for arpeggios or jazz arpeggios. You can check out my videos on improvisation, and I do cover it a little!
@@neilchanmusic Really appreciate that you replied. Thanks again
Thank u so much sir. Ur the best, the only thing I'm still not able to understand is, finding the base note that goes well with the melody, are alwys the bass note the root of the chords, sir please clear this confusion
Hello, most of the time you can safely use the root of the chord as the bass note. It shouldn't clash for most songs! You can also try out chord inversions, where the bass is either the 3rd, 5th, or 7th of the chord rather than the root. You have to experiment to find which notes dont clash with the melody. But stick to the root and you'll usually be fine :)
@@neilchanmusic though the video is self sufficient, but i am not able to do it, can u do it for the songs i know so that i get the good catch of arranging songs, like when the party's over OR i don't wanna be you anymore(both by billie eilish).i got the chords and melody too but combining it , is like next to impossible. please help me,sir.
10:30 This sounds so familiar to country roads lol
Would you please add links to 8:49? Can't enter there.
New sub sir i love ur video ❣️❣️
Thanks for your support!
I nearly choked on my coffee when he said Auld Lang Syne was an English folk song.
Yea I got it very wrong!
@@neilchanmusic hah - don’t worry about it. Just that us Scots are very precious about Robert Burns, and the ‘auld Scots tongue’ which should never be regarded as English. Some sassenachs will say Burns took the English language and butchered it, which is just ignorance.
Thank you for the lesson. I have one doubt regarding the melody and solvate. Like this song starts from so do….. how do we know the starting of the song is not from do? I always think of first note as do always. I believe that is not true always. So how do we figure out that the starting note is not do? Thank you.
Hey you’re right in that many songs do not start from do! What you should do is listen to the song for awhile and find where ‘do’ is by singing random notes up and down the scale until you reach ‘do’. Then listen again for the first note, and see how it relates to the ‘do’ you’ve found. Start from ‘do’ and sing up or down the scale until you find that starting now. It takes practice but it works and the process will just get faster over time. Hope this helps!
Thank you so much. I am sure it will help.

It’s rlly weird bc I can make my own arrangements (albeit very simplistic) on the keyboard w both left and right hand naturally and self taught but when it comes to guitar I’m lost like I have no musicality
It's really normal! Its a lot easier to visualise the components of harmony and melody separately on each hand on the piano. For the guitar they're all jumbled up together. But with the right method and practice it becomes a lot clearer, which is what I've dedicated many years studying and teaching :) Are you interested to learn this method in more detail?
@@neilchanmusic thank you so much for clarifying this I thought there was something wrong with how I approached the guitar 😅
When I learn a song on the guitar it’s purely muscle memory and that bothers me, it’s like playing with my eyes closed constantly, I want to be able to visualise what I’m doing and even add improvisations 💪🏾
Can you explain how you connect the "na na na ..." to the solfege notes?
You will need to practice (and practice a LOT) singing the scale to solfege syllables. Keep doing it day after day and eventually when you hear a melody, any melody on any instrument, as long as it's within the scale, you will start to hear the notes immediately as solfege syllables. You have to experience it for youself! It takes hard work and dedication but its very worth it.
@@neilchanmusic yeah i can sing the scale in solfege but it helps immensely practicing to the auld lang syne song in your solfege video and hearing the different notes in the melody.
Hey Master .... in this case are you lock the entire fret with your index finger ... or just pressing the root note
Hey Amir, most of the time I just use my index finger to play the bass. But it depends too, sometimes a barre is needed.
@@neilchanmusic thank u 🙏 💐

What kind of guitar are you playing?
it’s a McKnight guitar! Beautiful instrument
Hi Neil Chan, can you teach me lead guitar pleases 🙏
You'd need to start with scales, I've got lots of videos on scales and how to use them!
what kind of guitar is that? it’s beautiful!
that's a McKnight guitar, lovely guitar builder couple from the US!
bro plzz the name of tht gospel song
It's Amazing Grace, a beautiful hymn written by John Newton :)
How to arrange notes of song from piano to guitar???
You need the understand the notes as musical notes in themselves, not as 'piano notes' or 'guitar notes'. The trick to doing that is to study solfege, and I have lots of lessons on solfege on my channel!
@@neilchanmusic okk ty🙏🙏
Man your voice is too good to be a guitar player 😂
Look at Joe Satriani he can’t sing to save his life but he can play that guitar like ringing a bell
Haha, thank you. Singing is just too enjoyable for me to not do it!
Hii sir I'm an INDIAN I want to be a musician like you
And you can! Just keep up the hard work and practicing : )
You can play but not me :)
we all start somewhere! hope you enjoy your guitar learning journey
Name of your guitar ?
That's a McKnight Soli Deo Gloria guitar :)
@@neilchanmusic Thnk u
Can u give away the guitar ?sry to ask 😅😅I can’t afford it
@@reynoldabrahamj2815 no, definitely not. And I don't own it either.
I have a question
Go ahead!
@@neilchanmusic I can easily arrange songs using the open chords such as C, A minor, D, etc. My problem is finding the right harmony and melody further down on the neck. Would learning more chords further down be helpful? What's the best way to help with this?
Nah nah nah baal ka naah
Stop singing while teaching 🙄
Thanks for the instruction but your singing style is really obtrusive and irritating. I want to get to your material without being forced to listen to your excessive performances.
No problem, thanks for sharing your thoughts and feelings.
