my favourite part was the 180 shot when killmonger walked to the throne because I think it signifies very vividly that Wakanda's world has turned upside down
Micha Lebowitz I wish we saw more of that rather than Mediocre MCU love interest, would have been more original and added another layer to "What T'challa has that Erik doesn't" .
•what you should do for HISHE: T'challa: maybe we can still heal you.. Killmonger: uhm sure... T'challa: ah wait what.. Killmonger: what's wrong T'challa: I thought you were going to say no... Killmonger: ..... •For mini scenes: T'chaka takes young Eric to wakanda. 'Oh hey uhm I have a nephew' also release the Klaue mixtape for a scene!!!
Also, as I remember it, T'Chaka didn't really have to kill his brother. He was wearing the vibranium suit; he could have just stepped in the way of the gun without sinking his claws into his vital organs.
Adds even more layers to the story. Was T'Chaka concerned he would not be able to stand up to a challenge back home? Killing his brother was for the greater good?
For how it should have ended you can have the scientist guy come in and say “hey, how bout you don’t leave a kid of royalty stranded in the middle of a city that is full of criminals right after you kill his only parent!”
How it should have ended: "Hey king, how about if instead of killing your brother and leaving your nephew behind to grow up alone on the streets, you take them both back, put your brother on trial, and raise your nephew to value our ways?"
King Could be, but we don't know what their justice system is like. There might be a way to rehabilitate him. But either way seeing some form of justice being done, and then having family to hold you and look out for you would at least have given him a chance.
It was mostly the fact that the King's brother was about to kill the informant, the k8ng had to act fast in that moment. I don't think the king had any plan of leaving that room with anyone dead
Same, I LOVED this film, everything about it seemed so powerful, like that scene. The conflict, the honour, the imagery, the weapons, the visuals, the motives, the feelings, the tradition, the fact that its marvel. Just tons of stuff was great
I wish Killmonger lived...he's a kid from Oakland who knew life was hard at a young age and pushed himself to be better despite the odds stacked against him. That is something very dear to me. The film gave him an honorable death but he was a villain only by method. His beliefs and convictions were strong.
but it wasn't in his nature to live. I mean, his last words pretty much sum it up well: "It's better to die than live in bondage". And his beliefs still carry on beyond him. In a way, he's almost a martyr. And t'Challa agrees that his big-picture goal was right, just his methods of achieving it were wrong
I think he was a very unique villain that could have potentially been a great villain. But I think the screenwriters messed up by giving him some super selfish ideas (destroying the flowers, ignoring the rules of trial and stealing the crown). If they made him more like Magneto and ditched the selfish motives that helped the audience hate him, he could have been a villain that people could really relate to, maybe even one that T'Challa learns from in the end. They could have explored his perspective more, but instead just killed him kinda quickly.
I admit it, I'm a crier. And I did cry when he said that and when he died. So much wasted potential - both him, the ancestors that jumped from the ships, and the ancestors who stayed on. Wait... not wonder I'm a crier it's just so sad.
Michael Abia that’s not being ashamed, he wanted to die a free man than live one moment in restraints. I strongly believe that t’challa didn’t let him die, he wants to correct his fathers mistake.
Indeed, but generally speaking, we are been deceived into that the barriers we need are physical ones. America doesn't really exist in a region of the planet, it exists on its people. So listen carefully, America is no made of from where people come from, but what its people is.
At the end of the day, most, if not every, strong society is ethnocentric on some level, focusing heavily on a combination of factors, primarily racial and nationalistic. There's nothing wrong with that. Protecting your homeland and ensuring your people's sovereignty, which is key if you want to ensure your people's ability to thrive and ensure justice and liberty within your borders, is a necessity regardless of how people feel about it. The problem is when we begin talking about trying to take over other people's lands and do injustices to them to unfairly sweeten the pot for our own group at the expense of others.
I also like how it encourages kindness. It's not just 'the good guys won', but T'challa actually learned something from the conflict. He will now share the technology and riches of Wakanda, to aid people in other parts of the world.
Rondel Moore Imo it really helped that the villain was only fully introduced later on in the movie because he practically carried the movie starting from the South Korea scene. The Killmonger fight at the waterfall was pretty damn intense although I wasn't a fan of the death fakeout, the villain and M Baku were consistently great towards the end, I loved how Killmonger took over the kingdom within hours, he's definitely one of the more competent villains. Chadwick's performance towards the end is very underrated imo during Killmonger's final moments especially watching it for a second time. The Ancestral Plane scenes are always great for character development. Loved the ending too.
Rondel Moore yup, agreed with you. This film is good but not great. It's forgettable at best. Why it got so much praise as it was the best superhero movie i don't know. .. somebody even compares it with logan. You got to be kidding!
When killmonger said ask me my name, the rock should have come out of nowhere and interrupted him "it doesn't matter what your name is" and the council awkwardly stares at the rock. Then t'challa says "this is why you are not welcome in wakanda"
*As a South African the music resonated with me* (especially since T'challas sister was listening to a popular local artist) & the afro futurism was grounded the city where people lived it Wakanda was like a futuristic Township mixing rural with urban designs *I loved a lot about the film but that's what spoke to me in the first 20 minutes*
Nkanyiso Innocent Khwane that type of aesthetic is like bait for me. Any piece that can blend the culture with futurism and have it grounded in reality is a must watch for me
Movie had something to say. Definitely a great story. I love when T'Chaka said all fathers should prepare their children for their deaths. I know he said it different way but that's how I interpreted it.
I think T'Chaka knew that his brother was lost at that point, and there was no saving him. There was no ending it good, so the only thing left is to end it quickly.
Can't really add anything except this movie had one of the best tough guy lines I've ever heard ... SPERLER WERNERNG M'Baku, to Ross: "One more word, and I'll feed you to my children."
Favourite part for me was T'Challa being to see his father again. That hit home for me. Being able to see and talk someone you have lost is touching on a spiritual level.
The Lion King vibes were strong with this one in a good way. A young king seeking his father's advice beyond the grave, a disgraced uncle, a will they won't they romance with Nala er Nakia. BP is the best candidate to become a Broadway musical (unlike *cough* spidermanturnoffthedark *cough*)
Interesting how HISHE scrubbed all the on point comments on the ethnic genocide killmonger was espousing when it was his own ppl that abandoned him and killled his father....
Michael Cramer He got over the father-killing with the Challenge. You missed the whole bit about him growing up in America, knowing that Wakandans were living it up allowing racism to happen. Watch the movie again, it is a true classic so you are going to pick up new stuff all the time.
Ben Gale He is talking about the people of Africa. Wakandans are africans also... Me coming from South East Asia appreciates the line from the colonized standpoint. Our people like Africa was enslaved by Europeans. That's why i think this movie is about the bullied who tried to use the same methods against the bully. Somehow the bullied got way extreme. Haha
How It Should Have Ended Killmonger: I killed Klaue when your King couldn't! T'challa: Actually we had him captured and were about to bring him back when *you broke him out*
This was the MCU film i was looking forward to the most because this is the first MCU film i saw that centers around a politician. Yes, Thor is a prince, which technically makes him a politician but we never saw him as a prince. We mostly see him as a a warrior. What struck me in this film was the motive of Kilmonger. That was so relatable. I had a feeling that, given a choice, i might probably side with him
Yeah, his motives were strong enough it forced T'Challa to change how Wakanda operated. In the end, both T'Challa and Killmonger were flawed which was great to watch. T'Challa was too isolationist and too trusting of the Western nations which is something the while, although Killmonger's motives seemed more relatable, he went too far in selfishly destroying some of Wakanda's best assets for his own good which shows he was a bit corrupted. In the end, it seems like if things were different they could've been a great force for good.
Killmonger's motives were right, his method was wrong. The interesting thing is that his good will is also mixed with personal interest and grudge to the point you can't tell when one ends and one starts. The awesome thing is that, in the end, he wins to some extent. Despite his rough if not cruel methods, he draws T'Challa to his point of view more efficiently than Nakia did despite being more moderate (you have to remember that she was the only opponent to isolationism in Wakanda at the start of the film) which forces him to change his country's political path and traditions forever.
i just got out of the theater. i, too, feel for Kilmonger. i understand his motives. he went about it the wrong way, but you can still understand why. and to me that made me not view him as a villain. it was sad because T'Challa was so hurt finding out he was left behind, and he still wanted to save him.
My only issue is that Klaue was killed. I would rather he’d been brought back to Wakanda alive and escaped in the chaos at the end. Serkis is just so damn fun in the part. Makes me sad we can’t see that again.
Yeah, that would've been a great way to end it. Serkis killed it as usual and it's good seeing him be able to do his thing without havibg to be all cg'd up for a change. But he's gonna be a hard character for the series to replace. Also having playing a background role in the next film could've set him up to be developed as a majar and even main villain for the finale of the series wherever it ends up going.
I think having him killed is what make makes this movie great. No one, expect Klaue to be killed. People were expecting the villains to live. but no. not in BP.
What are you talking about? Marvel does this all the time. They killed Baron von Strucker (off screen, no less) after barely using him. They killed off Crossbones unnecessarily soon. Not to mention Cottonmouth, Victoria Hand, Ben Urich, It's at the point now where I expect important characters from the comics to get unnecessarily killed off too soon in the the MCU.
Ajie GioNToji Are you new to the MCU, the only Villains that didn't get killed off are Loki, Dormammu, Zemo, and Abomination. Out of those Dormammu's been plot banned form ever influencing the MCU again, Zemo's a one off and has nothing else to deliver, Abomination I doubt anyone even remembers that he survived his fight, Loki's the only Villain the MCU has other than Thanos. So no most People went in to the movie expecting the Villains to die, but hopping they wouldn't.
OnlyHereFor TheWaifus I think having to use so much of the budget on cgi to build the world vs movies like Winter Soldier where more real world locations could be used made it tougher to get the most out of the cgi during the action scenes. But inexperierience with cgi could've also been a factor. One remedy would be to do like the Russo's with Captain America and use as much practical effects and what not for their fight scenes even when BP's in costume.
It’s not really an origin story, but I get what you mean. That’s part of the reason people liked the recent Spider-Man movie. They skipped the whole origin and Uncle Ben parts
So like, T'Chaka dies two weeks before the movie where T'Chala gets a suit that is programmed from a necklace to bring out a vibranium nano-suit in like a second, but T'Chaka couldn't have worn ANY sort of bodily protection under his business suit when he died. I mean he had the panther juice, right? I feel like if he had some sort of vibranium weeve shirt on he would've survived that blast.
The suit then was bullet proof not Blast proof. But if Shuri had completed the new suit tech earlier he could have survived. And lastly, BP is just the best wakandan warrior who takes up a vigilante role, any Wakandan warrior can be BP. T'challa is both, but his father was just king(he was BP at a time, but other warriors [like T'challa] took over)
Anyone Realize that now: Daredevil is Batman The Human Torch is Captain America Green Lantern is Deadpool Flash Thompson is Deathstroke The Human Torch (2015) is Erik Killmonger John Jonah Jameson is Commissioner James Gordon Bane is Venom Catwoman is Storm Batman(1989) is The Vulture Catwoman(1992) is The original Wasp And Superman is The Atom
Daeseong Kim, oh yeah, definitely. It even had the Ghost Dad giving advice from beyond the grave. But I really loved “The Lion King” so this made sense, especially when you think of what they worship. I also thought of that scene where the cats are in the trees being from the movie, “Cat People” & then being descendants of those great cats.
*spoiler below* Hishe idea: Killmonger throws T’Challa over the waterfall, declares himself king. Suddenly, Iron Man scoops T’Challa out of the water (Just like in Spider-Man). T’Challa is surprised that Stark came all the way from America to save him, but of course, he’s not *really* there.
Or Killmonger says, “Oh, before I throw you over the waterfall let me just decapitate you quick so you don’t somehow miraculously survive and come back to challenge me.”
I kind of wish that Klaw could have had a transformation into the Kirbyesque design of the Marvel comics villain instead of being killed off, but maybe that wouldn't have translated that well from the printed page to the silver screen. Oh well.
You have to remember that these meme's were quite new or at least popular when they were added to the script or at least when they were filmed... It just takes quite some time to complete a film, and sadly most memes won't survive that long... I thought it was funny, and because it's between siblings it's not too weird to bring up older memes!
I loved how I could feel like how T'Challa evaluated every new character presented by his facial expressions, persona, and tone. It was very in depth to the point where I was like "that guy is probably going to die at one point" "oh he's not the main villain." Especially when it came to his relationship with his father the burden he held after he died and how he learned to overcome it. Very inspirational. I would also like to add it was nice getting to see the other side. I am very aware of my heritage a little too much where I am taught to be ashamed of where I came from, but what this film told me is that you have to accept that that is who you are, and make sure you do your best to fix what your ancestors saw as trivial.
Ryan Coogler is a genius. He seriously has the potential to be the next Stephen Spielberg or Christopher Nolan or some combination of the two. Awesome movie
JW Fan he is an awesome writer and has a way of subtly (or not so subtly in the case of ‘Fruitvale’) adding in some social commentary but not making it distracting. I’ve fully enjoyed all 3 of his movies so far
As soon as I saw this move, all I could think about what you were gonna say in this review & I agree with everything. However you didn’t mention the best side character!! M’Baku was great! “Are you done....no seriously are-are-are you done...?”
your "what's the point?" comments are very thoughtful and, dare I say, inspirational. I'd would be nice to think that Hollywood has all those deep, meaningful messages in mind when they produce their films, but I don't think it's likely. But who knows? On a side note, I didn't fully understand why Killmonger had to choose death or imprisonment. Why couldn't there have been a theme of forgiveness in which T'Challa (sp? sorry too lazy to google it) acknowledges that he recognizes his cousin's point of view (since he ultimately does albeit in a non-violent way) and chooses to work together? Killmonger wouldn't have necessarily had to accept T'Challa's offer, but the offer of forgiveness and compromise would have made the movie even better in my humble opinion. Good movie though, I'm glad they made it.
My theater audience loved it. We have to keep in mind that she suppose to be 16 and a lot of teenagers do act that way. She's smart but she's still a teen.
I thought the visuals were the best we've seen in the MCU. Coogler & the cast did a fantastic job, it was well written and you understood everyone's motives in the movie. My favourite scene was probably the ritual combat and best line was Kilmongers last tbh. My favourite movie from the MCU. so far (might be topped by the next though 👀)
I completely agree with your entire review, and you really put into words what I was thinking and feeling about the story and the characters. I loved the look of the movie, the diversity of the costumes, the amazing, varied, fascinating world they showed us. But for me it was the strong female characters who will stay with me. Seeing the all female king’s guard, so powerful and loyal, so kickass - just got my heart pounding every time. And Shuri was so gosh darned adorable, as well as being all brilliant and brave. Loved this movie way more than I expected to.
SEriously Okoye was such a badass!! Id be awesome if there were small film focused on her :D And i thought Klaus died too early in the movie. Maybe further down with enough screen time of him wouldve been made more sense. But thats just me nitpicking
So true, i really wanted Klaue to get a way bigger part in the MCU. When i saw him in Age of Ultron, i was thinking that he would become a very important character
Yeah, I would love to see something with her joined up with one of the ridiculous characters like Luis from Ant-Man or Korg or Groot. Someone who would push her warrior professionalism to the brink! Marvel should bring back the One-Shot features for this.
When I was watching the movie in the cinema, and killmonger got that sick beat I was like: bro... his suit looks cooler and every time he was in a scene, a sick beat dropped: I'm rooting for him and then he died so I was sad
I loved almost everything about this movie, the only thing I thought was kind of weird was how Erik, a US soldier, even managed to defeat T'Challa in the duel in the first place? I don't think the US army offers extensive sword-fighting training, yet Erik almost easily defeated T'Challa, who has been training in physical combat all his life... Kinda weird but ok. AWESOME MOVIE
Merijn Mulder Yeah, that through me off too. Plus it seemed pretty rush having them duel. The council could have done some more investigation on Erik. Still loved the movie though.
justinl458 calm down honey I was just noticing something. Still, modern-day SEAL and JCOC training does not include intensive one-on-one swordfighting xd
He trained himself in what ever he needed. It pretty common amongst people it the military, cause dad was in the Marine Corps but had also trained in Kung-fu.
It's from the comics, Killmonger had always been better at fighting than T'Challa. But in the end, T'Challa kills him and then it's reveled that Killmomger had like 1000 kids who want revenge (In the comics, Killmonger is a warlord of his own country near Wakanda)
If t'chaka had taken eric to wakanda, & raised him himself none of these conflicts would've occurred probably.. Or probably it would have been like thor.. I don't know 😅
The whole Afrofuturism thing is just so cool. Iron man has pure technology, while Wakanda beautifully combine their tribal elements and super awesome technology.
I liked how tchalla lost the fight because of the emotional weight erik Stevens brought to the battle...he was more skilled but killmonger has waited his entire life for that and the lie tchaka told has compromised his moral standing ...and I thought killmonger lost and he had someone steal the golden Jaguar suit and he was being taken to jail from the trailer turns out I was wrong
For the HISHE: really and truly if killmonger had just physically killed T’Challa during the ritual duel instead of dramatically throwing him of the edge of the cliff - he mighta succeeded in his plan.
Ok I have to say your commentary and review of the movie is the most honest and well thought I've seen to date. There's another RUclipsr I watch for other comic book shows/movies reviews and needless to say, I think he was a little rude. (I haven't any idea why as it was a cool character, story and it's MCU) Thanks again for your comments, I had the same thoughts. Love your channel, can't wait to see what you'll do next! Kudos!
I think he said he'll feed them to his children, but then said "just kidding, we're vegetarians" iirc. Maybe they catch the fish and then trade with other tribes? Either way, I'm going to overlook it when I watch it again anyway!
Another one! If he said "Just kidding they're vegetarian" then that would be sloppy writing. Does that mean the elders are going to eat him? He'd have to follow that line up with something like "But im not going to eat you either". Therefore "We're vegetarians" makes for the snappiest response, so im pretty sure it was that.
Sure, but I have to correct you, they are not vegetarian if they eat fish, that is an old misunderstanding. You are referring to a pescatarian. Yes it was indeed a splendid film!
8/10, the fights scenes had too many quick edits and a few shaky cams which made hard to watch. I think killmonger should have held the throne longer, he held it for barely a day. And then aside from that one meme joke, I don’t really many complaints.
You could point out that Kilmonger was in all these different military units and no one thought to order a psyche evaluation after he started marking himself in death tailless...
Echo Productions this review was bad, he didn't even say anything negative about the movie. And don't tell me that it was perfect and that there was nothing wrong with it.
I think Eric Killmonger is the best villain of the MCU. He is completely believable and sympathetic but you still hate him and want him to fail. Most villains just aren't believable, like Thanos and Rhonin, or you just don't care about them other than how they move the movie forward.
Bwahahaha! Wakanda is an isolationist, tribal, brutal monachy that chooses it's next King based on how well he fights. They don't allow immigration and use kill squads to hunt down any illegal immigrants. The country's social order is keep up with a brutally enforced caste system. They don't give a damn about the rest of Africa, they even have a wall around their "kingdom" to keep other Africans out of Wakanda! They are an EXTREME ethnostate with a stone age style government. And this is a good thing? Then if white people did the same thing would you say that would be ok too? No, you would scream racism.
Folker46 ! Easy there, Bro. Yes, technically Wakandas government isn't the best, and they were pretty selfish in the past. But if you didn't cringe like now in the cinema and watched the post-credit scene you would know, that T-Challa is changing that now. Beside that, it is just a fictional country and not worth to freak out so extreme because of that. Edit: And most people probably like Wakanda for it's futuristic technology and not for the politic.
Folker46 ! - Did you mean to laugh like a super villain? Nobody said it was okay that they did that. In fact, the whole point of the movie was that they needed to change. In fact, extreme isolationism is what almost destroyed them and the world. In fact, the movie ended with them 180ing that philosophy. But, nice job trying to be divisive.
I’m still not sure I fully understand why the king left the boy. The best thing I can think of is he felt such shame and guilt over killing his brother ( even if it was justified ) he couldn’t imagine bringing the son back to remind him every day of the thing he had done.
Well, i feel its kinda like " sins of the fathers". HIs father was a traitor so in the eyes of Wakandans he will always be son of a traitor or something like that. So he decide it was better to leave him.
The only part I wish you commented on was w’kabi, the guy from get out. I thought he was going to be placed in a loki type situation because he wanted revenge for the death of his father because of klaw and actually helped killmonger. He didn’t die in the movie and I felt he was another source of conflict so I hope his role enlarges in the sequel?
Oh my gosh I set my phone down and didn't notice the spoiler warning. I can't believe you totally ruined spider man for me being in this movie, so mad right now. 😤
man, you make the best movie reviews. always a pleasure watching your take on the movies. i'm thinking, one of your HISHEs for BP is when Killmonger challenges T'Challa, T'Challa just does what Ramonda says and goes, "Nah, that challenge is over, i'm still the king now. take this charlatan away and erase his memory or fix his mind like what shuri did to the white wolf and make him love wakanda so we never have to reveal ourselves to the world ever. LoL :-)
" I also made you some very stealthy shoes. I call them Sneakers"
D B but before that, “WHAT ARE THOSE!”
She was my favorite character in the whole movie X'D X'D
😂
my favourite part was the 180 shot when killmonger walked to the throne because I think it signifies very vividly that Wakanda's world has turned upside down
Thatcher without fookin' laser sights The beat they played was nice too
It was neat, but a little on the nose.
Yeah i like that scene too
My absolute _favorite_ part was the relationship between T'Challa and his sister
My favorite part was when we see Winter Soldier at the end!
Micha Lebowitz
I wish we saw more of that rather than Mediocre MCU love interest, would have been more original and added another layer to "What T'challa has that Erik doesn't" .
The memes?
Ehats their age gap by the way i mean i heard Shuri is 16 how old is T'Challa?
HEY AUNTIE
Spoiler but funny 😂
That was the best part.
Heh, yeah
Killmonger was amazing lmao
Lmao
"Every second of breath you take is mercy from me klaue"
That was such a badass line.
The Real Michael Garcia straight from comic . i heard
mohd marzad oh really? That's pretty interesting
yep straight from the comcis except BP said it to Namor in the comics if I remember correctly
The Real Michael Garcia He was intimidating af during that sequence
The Real Michael Garcia definitely
•what you should do for HISHE:
T'challa: maybe we can still heal you..
Killmonger: uhm sure...
T'challa: ah wait what..
Killmonger: what's wrong
T'challa: I thought you were going to say no...
Killmonger: .....
•For mini scenes:
T'chaka takes young Eric to wakanda. 'Oh hey uhm I have a nephew'
also release the Klaue mixtape for a scene!!!
FRB
Please have this happen. I gotta hear Klaue's mixtape.
FRB I love that one I really laughed hard when I read that
J'Hue Casey it has to be hardcore West Coast gangster rap
Big Boss first song on the album being 'I Made It Rain'
FRB track to got that vibranium thang on me
How it should have ended: T'Chaka takes young Erik back to Wakanda... "I HAVE A NEPHEW?!?!"
HISHE *MUST* SEE THIS COMMENT!
Well, it could have been an accident. Like he reacted out of instinct. But Andrea makes a good point.
HISHE: W'kabi finds a Mother Box and revives Killmonger's body... lol
What do you call them?
"Sneak-ers"
chris hernandez we say this every day hahahaha!
Did anyone else notice that right after he got the sneakers he ran up the ramp and you could hear his foot steps
I lost it when she said that 😂 also when they took the bad dudes arm laser away i wanted someone to make a joke about him being disarmed!
Wait, I think i missed that part.
The "Sneak-ers", What are those?
ShapeCrafter you know, the shoe brand Sneakers. the shoes he has don't make a sound, so he can "Sneak" on people quietly. it's a pun.
For how it should have ended you can have the scientist guy come in and say “hey, how bout you don’t leave a kid of royalty stranded in the middle of a city that is full of criminals right after you kill his only parent!”
Or something like that
Zack Murri that's awesome man 😂😂
That's exactly what they do
How it should have ended: "Hey king, how about if instead of killing your brother and leaving your nephew behind to grow up alone on the streets, you take them both back, put your brother on trial, and raise your nephew to value our ways?"
Erik loved his father, I think T'Chaka taking that away from will always in turn, turn Erik into Kilmonger.
^^
King Could be, but we don't know what their justice system is like. There might be a way to rehabilitate him. But either way seeing some form of justice being done, and then having family to hold you and look out for you would at least have given him a chance.
It was mostly the fact that the King's brother was about to kill the informant, the k8ng had to act fast in that moment. I don't think the king had any plan of leaving that room with anyone dead
Andy Dillbeck in summary, the whole movie was Tchaka's fault.
i loved M'BAKU "say one more word and ill feed you to my children... Just kidding we are vegetarians" lol i was dying then.
Naganachiketh Chinnamuttevi ikr.. Everyone in the cinema was laughing when he said that
Ayie Shazri I'm a DC fan boy but I loved this movie as it was serious and had laughs in the middle
I’d never thought I’d hear that meme in 2018
Naganachiketh Chinnamuttevi M'Baku*
Naganachiketh Chinnamuttevi welcome to every marvel movie
Near the end of the movie, I was thinking “This is way more civil war than ‘Civil War’ was.” And, like, people kind of important die!
And no BS like someone getting a broken spine when they’re just going to get a robotic spine device to help them normally move
my fave part is when t'challa yelled and cried to his father and ancestors.
Same, I LOVED this film, everything about it seemed so powerful, like that scene. The conflict, the honour, the imagery, the weapons, the visuals, the motives, the feelings, the tradition, the fact that its marvel. Just tons of stuff was great
Drunk Mark Dice if you have ancestors that you are proud of, then you can say it out loud too.
same
I KNOW RIGHT
Rown Aerith well you spoiled it for some people but not me I saw it yesterday
I wish Killmonger lived...he's a kid from Oakland who knew life was hard at a young age and pushed himself to be better despite the odds stacked against him. That is something very dear to me. The film gave him an honorable death but he was a villain only by method. His beliefs and convictions were strong.
but it wasn't in his nature to live. I mean, his last words pretty much sum it up well: "It's better to die than live in bondage". And his beliefs still carry on beyond him. In a way, he's almost a martyr. And t'Challa agrees that his big-picture goal was right, just his methods of achieving it were wrong
He could possibly get resurrected....
I personally think that Klaue was a much better villain than Killmonger - I was upset to see Klaue killed off only halfway through the movie.
“Bury me in the ocean with my ancestors that jumped from the ships. Because they knew death was better than bondage.”
Jeng Han Chow that was a great line
It also showed that Killmonger was kind of ashamed of himself and didnt want to live with it.
I strongly believe that t’challa didn’t let him die, he wants to correct his fathers mistake.
but they weren't his ancestors. he was from wakanda
Love the "whats the point" part, its was makes this movie even greater!
Alex Santos America needs barriers though
+J'Hue Casey
The poor native americans...
This is a rare movie that got better and better with each passing minute.
C.D. Reimer I thought it started off good then was pretty good with the South Korea scene then down hill from there.
M'Baku's name doesn't have a space in it. It's one word.
Rondel Moore yup, agreed with you. This film is good but not great. It's forgettable at best. Why it got so much praise as it was the best superhero movie i don't know. .. somebody even compares it with logan. You got to be kidding!
Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Some people loved it, other people loathed it. Art is subjective.
The Gqom playing in the lab. Bruh I lost it!
Nkanyiso Innocent Khwane pleaaaaase I have been looking for that song. whi is the artist from ZA ?
Nkanyiso Innocent Khwane Do you know de wey
Nkanyiso Innocent Khwane that type of aesthetic is like bait for me. Any piece that can blend the culture with futurism and have it grounded in reality is a must watch for me
Can you please name those songs? Also where can i find the soundtrack that plays everytime when Okoye starts fighting?
When killmonger was like 'ask me who I am' T'challa should just been like nope. And as a royal order no one else can ask him who is. In fact, Gag him!
this would be a good alternative HISHE
someone you'll never know you don't know the character then, t'challa isn't like that
scotty5448 you're fun at parties...
He had too much honor to do something like that.
I really liked the scene when m'baku interrupts t'challa, his mother, his sister and his gf having an emotional scene.
harshit sharma *yawns dramatically* ARE YOU DONE? ARE-ARE YOU DONE?
Can't wait to see the HISHE of BP and Super Hero Cafe.
i want to see batman try to hit on okoye.
Yea boi
Movie had something to say. Definitely a great story. I love when T'Chaka said all fathers should prepare their children for their deaths. I know he said it different way but that's how I interpreted it.
nah, that's pretty much what he said. you got it
Tchaka: a father who has not prepared his children for his death has failed as a father. Have i ever failed you?
Tchalla: no baba
HISHE : T'Chaka steps in front of Zuri to protect him (vibranium suit) instead of killing his baby brother
I think T'Chaka knew that his brother was lost at that point, and there was no saving him. There was no ending it good, so the only thing left is to end it quickly.
Sounds like a chess move!
T'Chaka should have a weapon which freeze or stun, so he don't have to kill.
What about just taking Eric Killmonger with him back to Wakanda and explaining what happened so he doesn't need to take so much revenge.
Simran Wasu Tchaka didn't deny the fact that he made a horrible mistake when tchalla confronted him..
We are humans after all.. we make mistakes
Can't really add anything except this movie had one of the best tough guy lines I've ever heard ...
SPERLER WERNERNG
M'Baku, to Ross: "One more word, and I'll feed you to my children."
Xyshom Avazax jk...we’re vegetarians. 😂😂😂
It was Best one. M'Baku was total savage
Nurse08 funniest line in the whole mcu
SPERLERS AHERD PERPLE
Whenever I hear a barking now im like mbaku is that you
Favourite part for me was T'Challa being to see his father again.
Tafami Its because the movie, including The Lion King, is loosely based on real African tribal rituals and culture.
Um, the Lion King is an adaptation of Hamlet.
Tafami Well Spider-Man is a much more popular character sooo..
HISHE FOREVER!
INeedALife wonder how many of those thumbs down are sjws saying the movie was perfect and shouldn't be changed.
YEEP
Wow, 266 thumbs ups lol
Interesting how HISHE scrubbed all the on point comments on the ethnic genocide killmonger was espousing when it was his own ppl that abandoned him and killled his father....
Michael Cramer He got over the father-killing with the Challenge. You missed the whole bit about him growing up in America, knowing that Wakandans were living it up allowing racism to happen. Watch the movie again, it is a true classic so you are going to pick up new stuff all the time.
Infinity war is getting closer and I can’t heckng wait
Thanos, yes I know you want your gauntlet to be complete. And I also can’t wait (edit)
LegoMelonz15 I can't wait either!!
Heck I hecking can't hecking wait for the hecking infinity wars heck this is gonna be hecking gud
fudge yeah!
*NO HECKS ON MY CHRISTIAN SERVER*
For this movie, when Michael B. Jordan puts on the suit, instead of that make him turn into his fantastic four suit and have him say, "FLAME ON"
“Bury me in the ocean with my ancestors who jumped from ships, cause they knew death was better than bondage.” - Killmonger. Best line ever in MCU.
Leon YT which made no sense. His ancestors weren't slaves who jumped from ships because Wakandans were never slaves.
Leon YT best line is: Don't speak or I will feed you to my children..... Just kidding we are vegetarians here.
Ben Gale Killmonger is half-Wakandan. His Wakandan Dad married an African-American.
Haha
It was very deep, and emotional for a lot of people.
This movie was damn good. Wakanda and it's culture looks amazing. And it does make you think about a lot.
Russ RedCloud the CGI too
Russ RedCloud and bucky was at the end credits
How It Should Have Ended
Killmonger: I killed Klaue when your King couldn't!
T'challa: Actually we had him captured and were about to bring him back when *you broke him out*
Do I have to watch the Pink Panther before seeing this movie?
Papope Mueanpaopong purple Panther first then pink panther.
Papope Mueanpaopong No, you must watch White Panther first.
You don't even know those movies
Also while you're at it, check out the rainbow panther.
Yeah you should they're also going to make a movie called "Panther Rangers: Wakanda Force" can't wait to see it. 😀😀😀
HISHE - Thank you for this humorous but respectful review.
deagleninja we're not allowed to go see it, sorry
UrBrainOnSports I’m white and I saw it the day it came out. Soooooo
Max Bond Don't say that Liberals will find you!
Did you expect anything different?
Respectful ? Why doses he need to be respectful ? It's just a movie.
I don't know why, but your review brought tears to my eyes.
Yeah, he was a bit too extremist. It's one thing to want to right wrongs, but you don't do that by committing even more wrongs.
Ezel Francisco
Princes and politicians are as different as farmers to milkmen.
ShadowCat , I feel the same. I hope they find some ridiculous way to bring him back.
Ajie GioNToji
Are you new to the MCU, the only Villains that didn't get killed off are Loki, Dormammu, Zemo, and Abomination. Out of those Dormammu's been plot banned form ever influencing the MCU again, Zemo's a one off and has nothing else to deliver, Abomination I doubt anyone even remembers that he survived his fight, Loki's the only Villain the MCU has other than Thanos. So no most People went in to the movie expecting the Villains to die, but hopping they wouldn't.
the cgi did feel very off to me but apart from that solid movie
OnlyHereFor TheWaifus
I think having to use so much of the budget on cgi to build the world vs movies like Winter Soldier where more real world locations could be used made it tougher to get the most out of the cgi during the action scenes. But inexperierience with cgi could've also been a factor.
One remedy would be to do like the Russo's with Captain America and use as much practical effects and what not for their fight scenes even when BP's in costume.
The cgi was actually really good did you even SEE Wakanda? Also all the tech looked really cool
Felicia Royers
That looked great. The environments and what not wrre amaxing. The CGI on Some of BP and Killmonger was dodgy.
The only things that looked off to me were the rinos.
Yeah, the suits were odd. They didn't totally Green Lantern them but they were a hard sell.
"BROTHER WHAT ARE THOSE!?!?!"
Han Solo Han Solo what are those!!?
Han Solo that made me cringe into infinity
That was hilarious!
lol me too, everything was pretty good till i saw that, and i wanted to kill myself
Han Solo lol
i dont like origin movies any more cuz they been done so much, but this is one of the best and very enjoyable..
This wasn't an origin movie
it was it has been counted as one by box office
Jordan Poyant But it is not an origin movie
It's definitely not an origin movie.
T'challa is both, but his father was just king(he was BP at a time, but other warriors [like T'challa] took over)
No. BP is the king. That’s the rule
Anyone Realize that now:
Daredevil is Batman
The Human Torch is Captain America
Green Lantern is Deadpool
Flash Thompson is Deathstroke
The Human Torch (2015) is Erik Killmonger
John Jonah Jameson is Commissioner James Gordon
Bane is Venom
Catwoman is Storm
Batman(1989) is The Vulture Catwoman(1992) is The original Wasp
And Superman is The Atom
another human torch is now kilmonger, or was lol. j jonah jameson is also comissioner gordon now
Green lantern is deadpool.
And the Human Torch (2005) is Captain America.
I know,I wrote it down
Storm is Catwoman
Before his ceremony of becoming king, all I could think was the song from the lion king; “I can’t wait to be king!”.
AnAverageMexican the honest trailers one was better
movie was literally Marvels version of the Lion King tbh
And when Killmonger throws Tachalla off the waterfall I was totally expecting, "Long live the king".
I really love these in-depth long reviews you put out, in addition to the fun stuff. Really different than most popular YT reviewers.
This video made me like the movie even more
555 likes plus hishe liked your comment and this is the first comment? Wierd
Andrew Contreras I'm lucky 😅
even with of all the ideological lies in it?
*spoiler below*
Hishe idea: Killmonger throws T’Challa over the waterfall, declares himself king. Suddenly, Iron Man scoops T’Challa out of the water (Just like in Spider-Man). T’Challa is surprised that Stark came all the way from America to save him, but of course, he’s not *really* there.
nateissogreat488 I like that
Or Killmonger says, “Oh, before I throw you over the waterfall let me just decapitate you quick so you don’t somehow miraculously survive and come back to challenge me.”
Or T'Challa doesn't accept the challenge.
+nateissogreat448 LOL that would've been funny but weird too XD
Doubt Stark's tech can pierce Wakanda's camouflage abilities. He's at least a decade or two behind them.
My only problem was they killed off Klaw for no reason and the cringey “What are those!” Joke
I kind of wish that Klaw could have had a transformation into the Kirbyesque design of the Marvel comics villain instead of being killed off,
but maybe that wouldn't have translated that well from the printed page to the silver screen.
Oh well.
Luc Augustson I thought it was dope
You have to remember that these meme's were quite new or at least popular when they were added to the script or at least when they were filmed... It just takes quite some time to complete a film, and sadly most memes won't survive that long...
I thought it was funny, and because it's between siblings it's not too weird to bring up older memes!
What are those is too old to be on the script
The movie / script is from 2016.
I love his costume
OH MY GOSH! LOOK TWO COMMENTS ABOVE YOU!!!! IT'S LIKE IT WAS MEANT TO BE!!!!
fairytell lol
It got moved. But in case anyone asks, someone named Han Solo was two comments away from her.
fairytell I saw his comment
Cool. I just wanted to make sure other people didn't get confused.
I Neva freeze
I neva frez
I neva feeze
did he freeze?
like an antelope in headlights!
If you speak again, I will feed you to my children... lol! Just kidding. We're vegetarians. 😂
martin freeman: *gulp*
Although they have fishermen as that is who found T'Challa so I think that might have also been a joke or they are one of those soft vegetarian types.
Nathan Snaza oh yeah! I forgot that
ONE OF MY FAVORITE PARTS XD
Nathan Snaza Maybe his children are vegetarians but the rest of his tribe isn't.
Klaue sees vibranium :"my precious"
Thats a really good line for HISHE
The scenes where t'challa and killmonger both meet their fathers.
Such beautiful imagery and symbolism!
Christophen Nolberg
Dude, hold your horses.
Ryan Coogler is a great director but this was film was not a great example of his work.
the action constantly made me blank and get confused on the action.
HOW JUSTICE LEAGUE SHOULD HAVE ENDED
looking for this one. hahaha
You mean, about 90 minutes earlier?
I liked it, but I can't wait for the hishe. Still, it was a super enjoyable theater experience
Yes Please Do IT !!!!
I mean if JL ended as soon as the movie started. thatd be good enough
As soon as I saw this move, all I could think about what you were gonna say in this review & I agree with everything. However you didn’t mention the best side character!! M’Baku was great! “Are you done....no seriously are-are-are you done...?”
Killer spoof songs
Where the fu..... Is HOW JUSTICE LEAGUE SHOULD OF ENDED?!?!?!?!!?!?!
So funny
What are the names of the songs he sang
I likeed when he said I NEVA FREEZE like Uganda Knuckles
Is that really an Uganda Knuckles line? Because this movie was written way before that became a meme.
And then he froze. He even said "hi" lol
your "what's the point?" comments are very thoughtful and, dare I say, inspirational.
All the funny moments with his sister, “WHAT ARE THOSE!?!?”, haha memes.
DarkEclipse 1212 Dead memes. As Kylo would say: let the past die, kill it if you have to.
My theater audience loved it. We have to keep in mind that she suppose to be 16 and a lot of teenagers do act that way. She's smart but she's still a teen.
Don't forget "Sneakers." That was so cute XD
Brandt DeJager I didn't even know it ever was a meme until I say one of those Easter egg videos after the movie
One of the best super hero movies ive seen in a long time
It’s okay. It’s not the best. Solid 7/10
DankMoji but it kinda is
DankMoji I’d give a 8/10.
DankMoji can't really think of a film that beats it
I give it an 8.5-9 outta 10
Two Tolkien white men.
Better than Captain America Winter Soldier?? Nahhhh.... its Overrated af
that cuts sooooo deep man, some haters are going to reject it >_
Exactly!!! Also, I recommend seeing it in 3D if you can.
I think they took too long to flesh out killmonger's motives.
Kilmonger's final line may be the best last words ever honestly.
Ironman is gonna need to step his game up in the technology department.
But thats just me nitpicking
haha i know now, but i was too lazy to search up the real spelling xD. As long as you get me!!
Same here I thought he went out too early
Tessa Thompson has said she'd love for her Valkyrie character from Thor Ragnarok to team up with Okoye. There's a pair anyone smart would not cross.
10/10 The Villain was great, Hero was awesome, Women were badass, I love this movie
It pretty common amongst people it the military, cause dad was in the Marine Corps but had also trained in Kung-fu.
maybe he practiced in his own time????? it's unclear how much info he had about Wakanda customs so not sure if he knew about the sword fight before.
I don't know 😅
Sayak Sarkar no your right
There are storylines where Killmonger grows up in Wakanda but still becomes a villain.
Excellent, excellent review. Thank you HISHE for continuing to put these out. They're both entertaining and though-provoking.
*IT'S A BUGATTI SPACESHIP*
PardonMyMemes "we can take off its parts"
The whole Afrofuturism thing is just so cool. Iron man has pure technology, while Wakanda beautifully combine their tribal elements and super awesome technology.
My fave part was Bucky in the end credit scene
I liked how tchalla lost the fight because of the emotional weight erik Stevens brought to the battle...he was more skilled but killmonger has waited his entire life for that and the lie tchaka told has compromised his moral standing ...and I thought killmonger lost and he had someone steal the golden Jaguar suit and he was being taken to jail from the trailer turns out I was wrong
Marvel is really good at showing a lot in the trailer, but showing it as mis-direction, so it's not a spoiler.
Chadwick Boseman is like the coolest name ever.
Wow. love the way you sum up the point of the movie. Love these HISHE reviews as much as original HISHE materials.
We need a compilation of Daniel singing.
Angel- Movie and Marvel Maniac.
Yes pls... I love his singing and bg effects 😂 like thor
He doesn't take himself seriously at all, but he's actually a good singer
Kudos!
M’Baku says his tribe is vegetarian
But their FISHERMEN found T’Challa
So wtf
ChampionGold He said his children were vegetarian, not necessarily the entire tribe.
I think he said he'll feed them to his children, but then said "just kidding, we're vegetarians" iirc. Maybe they catch the fish and then trade with other tribes?
Either way, I'm going to overlook it when I watch it again anyway!
His children are vegetarian his tribe ain't
My same complaint about Age of Ultron, I left going, "More like a weekend of Ultron"
You could point out that Kilmonger was in all these different military units and no one thought to order a psyche evaluation after he started marking himself in death tailless...
WHAT ARE THOSE!?!?!?
Instant Waffles
😂😂😂 that cracked me up. Just came back from seeing it
That scene was one of the funniest
Our theater DIED at that joke on opening night
I cringed my soul out at that joke.
All this movie was missing was a straight up Logan Paul cameo.
Ugh.
Dubstone Logan Paul may have referenced that meme (not to my knowledge tho), but it is NOT famous at all because of him.
Spoilers? Pfft. What are those??

Oh
I call them sneakers
Martin Freeman's accent though is so amazing!!
Best reviews on RUclips!
Echo Productions this review was bad, he didn't even say anything negative about the movie. And don't tell me that it was perfect and that there was nothing wrong with it.
Thick Banana well every film has its plotholes. But it was seriously a very good watch .
Definitely not. I like this movie but he praised it too much
I think Eric Killmonger is the best villain of the MCU. He is completely believable and sympathetic but you still hate him and want him to fail. Most villains just aren't believable, like Thanos and Rhonin, or you just don't care about them other than how they move the movie forward.
hey we haven't seen Thanos yet don't speak too soon. Ronan i can agree with tho
You want an idea for HISHE? Back in 1992, the King says "We're taking you back to Wakanda. And your kid too". THE END roll credits. 😉
*Wakanda is the best African kingdom since Zamunda*
Max Steel what about uganda on who killed captain alex??
Max Steel zamunda is amazing
Easiest HISHE ever: JUST TAKE THE BOY TO WAKANDA.
Boseman!
Dark Wolverine More Like "BossMan" xV
Why so many likes tho
LoL :-)
Justice League HISHE when?
Yeah! We got TLJ and that came out in December!
Hopefully soon.
WHAT ARE THOSE!!!!!
(Edit)WOAH THX FOR THE LIKES
what was marvel thinking when they put that line in XD
Fighting Dreamers
Marvel “we need to make this movie more funny...
I know, let’s add dead memes!”
Yeah, that sure isn't going to stand the test of time well seeing as its already mostly played out prior to release.
As amazing as it may seem many people haven’t seen that meme. I took my family and it was funny for us as a stand-alone joke.
Kenneth Collins To your point, I somehow missed the meme completely! I had to educate myself after seeing the movie.
Rest In Peace King 🥺💔👑
