Hey this is actually my Navara, just want to say this was fitted before i got it and didnt feel the need or want to remove it lol, but good video thanks for the information and the tune, been lovely driving it since and can definitely feel the difference.
Stop/start traffic is becoming almost unavoidable. If you live in the city and have a diesel, make a point of taking it on a non-stop 60 /60 every week. (60miles @ 60mph)
the goal is to not spend many thousands of dollars replacing EGR valves and EGR coolers. Some are cheap, mine are not and they are so buried that I can honestly say ford drove me to this.
Hey mate, got a Isuzu Dmax 2023, I've just removed the Egr pipes and just covered it with those egr plates delete. No tune or remap, just standards. Results are, better throttle response, drives light, will it effect the engine longrun?
Ya it will keep carbon out of the cylinder head and save you a pile of cash/time on replacing the EGR @ 100k. I would assume better gas mpg as well. I don't agree with the design and function of an EGR system. It is putting dirty pre burnt exhaust into the cylinder for re-burning.. Which doesn't re-burn at all, it deposits pure carbon soot over time that will degrade performance, which is designed to push people back to car lots to buy another vehicle.. It doesn't cool off the cylinder either like they claim either. These EGR systems only came out in the 70s.. Internal combustion engines have been out for over 100 years, and you ever hear the expression "they don't make em like the used to" That is because we live in a throw away society designed precisely to increase quarterly stock earnings by selling shit... Here is most people's main problem.. They can't just delete the EGR without tricking the ECU into thinking the EGR is there. If people just block the EGR it will throw off engine codes for poor flow which then messes up your MPG and power output etc.. The EGR should be plugged in electrically, then taken off the engine head so it just exhausts that carbon crap outside of the engine while putting a cover plate over the cylinder head so nothing goes in there. If you were handy enough you could have it vent into something, then check that something after a few months and see what's been thrown back into our engines.. IT's pure black carbon soot... If you have one of the vacuum style EGR's just disconnect it from piping that burnt exhaust back into the cylinders, but make sure it can breath properly.. So don't just tie it back into the cover plate delete kit thing, it needs to breath out that throat hole or it will throw the whole thing into a tizzy Doing it this way keeps the CEL from throwing a code, which then keeps all the trims and idle running smoothly.
2012 Dmax Did the plate and clean today Cable in fidt up, then removed it. DTC still comes up as P0404 EGR closed performance? The motor keeping the valve open maybe?
Thanks for the Video. Bit high tech for me but still I understood most. That last tune you did .. was the with the EGR Cable in or out ??? Hayden 2012 MAZDA BT50 - Just fitted my EGR Cable yesterday. Hi guys. I have a 2010 Mitsubishi Challenger with a 4D56. I also have an EGR delete cable. My Scangauge 2 reads an air intake temp which seems accurate (unlike the negative air intake temp shown in your video). Does tuning software show a different air intake temp compared to an OBD reading ? Are there good and bad EGR cables ?
Hi just a question about the EGR valve on a 2012 79 land cruiser that has been turned and the EGR block off am I running the same risk the two engine not seeing the right air intake temp
Hi. If I install a egr cable module in pk ford ranger 2009, does that eliminate the need for the pair of vacuum pump solenoid valves? as one has failed and I don’t want to replace it if an egr cable will bypass the need to.
this is tapping into the intake air temp sensor, other products like this use an ambient temp sensor to prevent interfering with factory ecm saftey features
I have fitted a delete cable to our 4n15 Pajero sport, its only done 1200 KLM but according to the dash its getting better fuel economy by about 1ltr per 100klm (long trip average 6.6ltrs per 100) also the annoying what I thought was turbo lag has now gone. Happy with it so far and a tune would void warranty.
Hey mate just curious are you still running the EGR cable? I've got a pan sport but about 100k on it. It's incredible the amount of carbon built up in intake manifold and intake ports and valves cyl 1, 2!
@@ConcernedCitizen742 Only time I removed the cable was for its first service, straight away the annoying instant power hesitation came back so refitted the next day. Not sure what the effects would be for other vehicles as manufactures have different emission control setups, but for my Pajero sport QF I’m getting better response and fuel economy. If there is less power?, it’s not noticeable and we tow a 2.5 ton caravan. For $32 off Ebay it’s not a lot of money to try and for me the benefits are well worth the money. Engine takes about 5 klm longer to reach temp, DPF burn off intervals are halved and the oil stays cleaner for much longer.
My understanding is that these cables, just trick the valve into staying closed and keeping the exhaust out of the intake, by keeping it closed. It will assist in stopping the intake from fouling. And stopping the engine getting USED air, heavily reduced in Oxygen. But won't stop the EGR from failing, and allowing cooling water loss into the exhaust, and maybe some seeping past the EGR valve into the intake ...... not nice outcomes.... But then again without the huge temp fluctuations, the cooler isnt being stressed, and as long as cooling water quality is kept up, its unlikely to fail like they do
well in my understanding it should be fine to use a blanking cable (but might be ok on some vehicles and not on others but), because the erg is not always being used at high revs , so it comes more into play when cruising along , so if the vehicle can work without it opening if you are driving a bit like you stole it, it should be sweet all the time, just a thought.
@@derektitch Haha Yes...... My understanding also, The EGR valve opens to let exhaust in when there's little power demand, like around town, or Cruise Control open road Then it closes as more power is needed. I think that it uses Vacuum, for indicating it..but not sure.. So yeah a hard throttle keeps the EGR valve closed
You’d have to drive massive km with a cable fitted to go through $1595 of extra diesel, so if you’re not flogging the diesel through summer sand dunes and therefore not running in significantly higher IAT what’s the downside? If you are driving in those conditions wouldn’t EGT increase and the ECU adjust anyway?
From looking at delete cables, not all vehicles are the same once installed, some might need a retune , some might not so it might be a, horses for courses scenario
My mate had this code and plugged in a EGR delete cable and it didn’t go away. He’s getting a tune and will delete the EGR out of the ECU which will resolve the issue/code.
Be good if you did a real world test. EGRs only operate at rest or at cruising speeds. Not at WOT in the 1:1 gear. Sure it may use more fuel where you tested it, but 99% of driving doesn't take place in your test conditions. Where using the cable actually saves fuel, as it's not choking the engine up with its own shit.
