      I have a big piece of the stickers from Blue. The stickers can be seen in a ton of promos, videos and live footage from mostly around the Nimrod days. They must have been peeling off or something because Billie ripped em off during a sound check in San Diego during the Warning tour, I grabbed the pieces and I've held onto them ever since....Its most of the Criminals skull sticker and some of The Queers All Stars sticker with a fat stack of stickers behind them. Kinda weird...Not something I could prove but I know what they are so it's kind of cool I think.

      That whole album is just phenomenal.
      I generally don't like Strats, and relicced guitars, but one of the Fender Custom shop Rory strats just came in to a local shop. $6000cad, but I'm very tempted to buy it. My dad was a huge Rory fan, and had a picture of him with Rory and that strat when they were about 20. He passed away in 2018 and I never got to ask him about that photo, sadly.

  • @idiosyncraticmushroom3030
    @idiosyncraticmushroom3030 5 лет назад +5

    Gallagher’s aged strat is because of his unusual blood type, making his sweat incredibly acidic. A modern polyester finish would not have been effected by his sweat.

    • @idiosyncraticmushroom3030
      @idiosyncraticmushroom3030 4 года назад +1

      @ThatsRaidillonActually ummm, have you seen his strat? There is no way all of that was caused by his arm. There is virtually no finish left on it. I know this from one of the first guitar books I read it may be wrong but it adds up.

    It's so beautiful that Billy Joe's mother gave him a guitar when she saw his talents, most parents try to discourage their children when they tend to the musician side, but she not only encouraged him, she being a widow with a big family to take care of, turned herself inside out, bought him Blue and gave him support in his dreams. And now he's the head of most people's favorite band, including me

He wrote the story of how he got his first true blue mustang from a bunch of guys who thought it sucked compared to their new metalasfuck kramer guitars and he was able to lowball them down to under $100 for it. People allege its his blue stripe one seen in the teen spirit video that he didnt use live much at first

The mustangs though, they were his personal favorite but he made them kinda disposable. If im not mistaken thougj he guarded the striped mustang pretty hard. I love that you included The Log in your video! I've long held a great deal of admiration for Les Paul, both as a musician and an inventor. I own the rejected Gibson Les Paul, the one he didn't like. They're now called Gibson SG and I prefer it to the heavier GLP model. What gets me about Mr. Paul is that his career nearly ended in a car crash when his right arm was shattered. Faced with possible amputation, he asked the doctors to set his arm and elbow at the angle which would allow him to keep playing to see if it would heal. His arm was set at that angle for the rest of his long life, but he was able to keep playing. Ranks right up there with Django Reinhardt and Tony Iommi if you ask me, which you didn't!

    Any thoughts on the insanely rare Martin D-18E cobain played on Unplugged, overly customized to the point of sounding like a cross between a banjo and an acoustic guitar in tone from all the metal. He bought it without a clue only a couple hundred exist, and the highly televised appearance on Mtv made getting ahold of one next to impossible. The current status and ownership is in the center of a terrible legal dispute between his daughter and her ex husband, who has it on the grounds that it was given to him as a honeymoon present. The guitar is now one of (if not the most) valuable guitars in the world and the very messy legal case on has yet to close.

    My favourite tale of Rory's guitar was how he told his mother that it can do both the rhythm and the lead parts, so his band would only need one guitarist (him), so there'd be more money in it.
    And since we're on the topic of Ireland's bluesiest son , I'll use it as an excuse to play one of my favourite clips of him - ruclips.net/video/DXk--eL5-kQ/видео.html
    Playing with Scotland's bluesiest son (the one and only Jack Bruce, ony of my favourite musicians of all time and it's not just because he's a fellow weegie), it appears he learned the riff literally seconds before they played the tune and he absolutely owns it. Phenomenal player.

    The pickups on Les Pauls log were stacked humbuckers. He built them years before Seth Lover or Ray Butts ever started experimenting with humbuckers. Les also put dummy coils in the P90 LP Custom prototype that was his main guitar from 1954 until the Les Paul Personal in the late 60’s years before others started using dummy coils to quiet 60 cycle hum.

    5:57 - To be fair, £100 in the early 60s would still translate out to over $1000 today with inflation factored in. And beyond that, the Irish economy wasn't quite as competitive as England in those times, though I'm sure southern Ireland fared well enough being on the opposite end of where The Troubles took place.

      I also wanted SRV's number one, that thing has some stories to tell. PS to anyone who is looking at this and thinking "SRV better than van halen" is a stupid thing to say, look past stevies most popular hits/ videos and see his expansive musical background deep with blues/jazz history. An interesting guitar player who only would've gotten better with age :(
      (to be honest I don't think it's a fair comparison to compare a metal guitarist to a blues guitarist).

    £100 in the early 60s is roughly £2,109.81 in today’s cash. That’s $3649.61 in Canadian dollars so that’s a shitload of money back than.
