      Those who have been or are in this occupation have seen far worse than the scene or chases depicted here, vehicles pancaked or crushed front end to the rear, where you would be certain no one would survive that crash until all the sirens have been silenced,....then comes that faint cry for help somewhere deep within that heap of crushed metal that once resembled a vehicle. In some cases, kidnapped victims stowed in the trunk of a car have survived, even though officer on scene may have no foreknowledge of it. 80-90% of the time an officer involved in a pursuit have a pretty good idea just about where a a pursued vehicle will wipe out and crash, thats just from knowing your beat.

      Years ago some cycle riders pulled over after making a guy crazy and the young man was literally tangled in the car on 18th and Morgan a block away from then St Francis Hospital in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Noone called the police, but three off duty officers was on the scene intoxicated. He died as a result of bystander apathy. All that training for NOTHING.

      @KatlynJShute Год назад +180

      As a former EMT I have been on DUI accident scenes and I will agree with the 3 other replies here. It is because their reaction times are deminished due to the alcohol in their blood. They are slower to tense up. So even if they see the accident coming usually it is over before their body has time to go tense. When you have more cushion your body is able to distribute the blunt force over a larger area which causes less damage to the body itself. The alcohol can also diminish the brains ability to fully understand and process the trauma of a bad accident. The reason we try to keep patients as calm as possible is because panicking can cause you to go into shock which can very quickly lead to cardiac arrest and death if left untreated. You can go from calmly talk to someone to circling the drain in 30 seconds and it can be very difficult to stop shock once it has started because it can get out of control so quickly. The alcohol basically shields the brains from truly grasping the trauma it just went through so the brain doesn’t freak out and cause the body to go into shock.

      They didn't give him bond. That's why he got time served. The reason they did before is because the crimes he was arrested for were minor crimes, not worth locking him up over. The idea is to use the dog to apprehend the dummies. Idle threats with a dog is worse than idle threats with a weapon. " I will shoot, I will shoot, I will shoot." "I will send the dog, I will send the dog." Neither is a real deal. They will not shoot and will not send the dog. Then the courts and prosecutors do the rest of the damage

    • @caucasiansensation147
      @caucasiansensation147 11 месяцев назад +9

      @stephenbowles7153 I'll wager this officer has seen the damage a dog bite (specifically HIS dog) can do to a person and is wary about deploying the dog. The officer's voice is nearly pleading with the suspect during the "I will send the dog" commands. His tone is like he's begging the suspect to please don't make him do it by not complying. Sure, it became an idle threat long after the fact but at the time the suspect isn't going to know any different and by all rights SHOULD COMPLY at the possibility of being bit. However, adrenaline and other hormones mixed with whatever drugs the guy might've been on can short circuit the possible danger and pretty much make the officer escalate.

    • @justforever96

      And how does one "hold a judge accountable"? Vote them out of office? The whole point of a judge is that they aren't supposed to be influenced by public opinion. If they were there are a whole lot more votes in coddling people than in harsh punishment. As the democrats have figured out .
      Or are you advocating that we commit criminal acts to punish judges for not punishing criminals more harshly? In this case the guy spent almost a year in jail before he even had a trial, he was drunk at the time, not committing a premeditated act, and he wasn't trying to victimize other people. If you start locking up people for 20 years for something like this, how do you maintain a relatively harsher punishment for those who actively victimize other people? Life sentence for theft or assault? Execution for murder? We already have millions of people in prison. In this case, we don't even know what the original crimes were, but every action he took was only to avoid punishment, which to me is not as bad as intentionally victimizing other people. Did he endanger people? Yes, but so do thousands of drunk drivers every year. Millions. Hell, so do people texting and driving. Ten year sentences for all of them?

Another car witnessed the accident as he was turning into the road from a couple of hundred metres away, but when he got to the car, there was no sign of the driver. We checked the car & the paddocks around it & couldn’t see any sign of him at all, so we were wondering if he absconded. Looked under the car too, as much as we could see anyway around the long grass. It’s only when the Firies used airbags to lift the car up that we found him under the hood of the car. He’d slipped through the windscreen which separated at the seal but didn’t even crack the glass, and ended up completely under the hood with no part of him showing outside it at all. The grass had pushed the windscreen back in place so there was nothing to show he’d been ejected. He was killed instantly though, so the delay in finding him made no difference. But yeah - it’s tough when you don’t know if they’ve done the bolt or are hidden somewhere in the accident or nearby.

    • @justforever96
      @justforever96 Год назад +4

      What part of "he got 234 days because he spent 234 days in jail awaiting trial" did you not get? That is what "time served" means. They literally spelled it out at the end. The judge said "you have been in jail for 234 days since arrest, so I am going to cut you a break and sentence you to that amount". He spent almost a year before he even got a trial. Because he jumped bail too many times before. The original offenses were all minor drug charges. I can only assume that he made a good impression. Probably had a drug or alcohol problem before that led him to behave that way, addicts don't like to be locked up. And since he didn't rape or murder anyone, didn't even intentionally victimize anyone, the judge wanted to give him a chance to do better. Some people do, especially when they have a few months of sobriety in jail before they are let go. No reason to assume he is going to just go out and start killing people just because he failed to show up for court on a few substance related charges. If they didn't think that wasn't a possibility they wouldn't do it.

    That's awful how these irresponsable people end up free to do it again and again. The police do their job but the judges don't.

      Exactly. It's a revolving door system because that keeps the funds coming in.

    Dogs will not understand you unless you talk to them in a high squeeky voice.

      Yesterday at mass there was a canine in training leading his handler to the Eucharist and back to the pew. It was such an admirable site to see this beautiful dog quietly walk by the side of his handler, stand quietly while he took communion and walk quietly back to the pew without being noticed. I am in awe of these animals, they are truly more than "Just an animal," they are the eyes and ears of their master.

    Was anyone else disappointed that we didn't hear the buckle on the dog's lead snap open?

    @ 3:33 You can just make out the guy running through the smoke right beside the light pole to the left...

      @Strange Tapes Thanks... I think he had respawned after the crash, because he seemed to be blinking in invincible status. @ 1:27 - 1:28 you can make out his first step into the snow but I cannot see him. Just look beside the pole to the right and the snow kicks up into the air. LOL. Hope you have a good day. PYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!
