Both my son's are LEO's and I remember the training experience for each of them. The rookie did very well and the FTO was giving clear and calm instructions. This is a great example of how things should go during a car chase and containment of a suspect. It is serious business. The courts are letting so many get off with a slap on the wrist. It is bad for officer morale to keep arresting the same person over and over again. It is extremely dangerous for those of us out in the civilian world just trying to do the right thing and keep our family safe..

They usually just keep driving. A couple weeks ago I was on a code call and the illegal in front of me turned on her hazard lights, slowed down and just kept driving. Sometimes they cross an intersection as we're coming through with lights and sirens screaming. It's bad enough that Americans sometimes don't move over quickly enough, now it's even worse with them on the roads.

Alerting the adrenaline fueled rookie to observe traffic hazards and to control hisself. Not letting the rookie act like a rapid dog in chase mode.
Too often cops think that because they have lights and sirens running, that they are automatically entitled to the right of way.
I’d only seen 1 video where the training officer corrected the recruits. He asked when can you ignore traffic laws? Most recruits said when running lights and sirens, some said if in a pursuit.
The instructor said NO, only when it’s safe to do so.
Lights and sirens does not mean you can blow thru intersections, you are still required to procede with caution. There’s a multitude of reasons that another driver may not have noticed the lights & sirens.
