XT250 is a great bike. I just got the one I ride out of winter storage. Nice height. I do like the Honda CRF250 also. The Yamaha just has great low center ground for me. 5'7". Honda is very responsive and intense. Yamaha is like a little mule with excellent speed up to 70MPH Peak. Power and reliability. I have a carb version 2012. I like the survival mode. Honda is Fuel injected. Great Video Man.
I dig the mods. I’m getting back into riding after a 30 year hiatus. I just picked up a TW200 and I really do like it, but I’m thinking I should have gone with the XT250. Might be looking to snag one soon. Thanks for the video!
I was curious if you had replaced your factory foot pegs. I was looking for something wider to add to my 2019XT. Having trouble finding a pair for the XT. Love all the videos.
Howdy. I like most of the mods. The extra fuel cell, and inner tool rack look like they could turn into a muddy mess real quick. Do you still have the bike? Long term report?
Hi. Are you running the TCK80 on front and rear? Can you tell me what size you're running on the front please? I did not see a TCK80 in 2.75x21 for my XT250. I did see a 90/90x21, but I am not sure that size will fit on the 1.6 inch stock rim. Please let me know. Thanks.
Are you using a Fuel controller with the Fmf pipe? If you don't want it to melt you bike I've used washers on the pipe mounting tab to space the muffler off the bike before. And foil tape from a hardware store is great for protecting plastics from heat
I would also be interested in how you have handled the Yamaha "suggested" maintenance schedule for valve adjustments for the XT250. The book that came with my new 2017 XT said that the valves needed to be adjusted at 600 miles and every 3,000 miles after that. I have been told by knowledgeable mechanics that this is not really required. What have you done on your bike after almost 12,000 miles?
Honestly, I didn't... I did my first and only valve check/adjustment at 10,250 miles! Believe it or not they were both in spec still! I don't know if it was just dumb luck or a testament to the XTs bulletproof motor, but I feel like I could have gone another 5000 and felt safe in terms of the valves. But it's up to you as an owner whether or not to stick to that service chart or not. After this many miles the most important thing I can say about the XT's maintenance is OIL OIL OIL!!!! Check it often and change it as regularly as you can. When I first got the bike I didn't understand the importance but oil is everything for this little bike. I ran it too dry for about a week and I know I did damage to the little girl, she was never the same after.... ~NoOne
Most xt owners i know never modify them and Ive always wondered why. Mods make your bike stand out. Hell, last night i saw a guy with a milk crate on his KLR. Cant say ive ever seen that before😸
It's such a shame man, honestly I wish I started modifying it as soon as I got it. My life would have been so much easier and I would have loved the bike so much more!
Hey! I've been pushing this bike HARD for a long time. I did the valves REALLY REALLY late... I checked them myself at 10,250 miles!!! But believe it or not, they were still within spec!
@@NoOnesWatching0_0 Good to know.. Mine is the 2015 to and it has 16.600 miles never checked them and rode it hard.. In summer it gets up to 45°celcius and still runs like the first day... Love it
Hey hey NoOne! Glad to see a fellow XT rider on youtube. How does your rack do with the weight of the rotopax? I snapped my precision rack in half on a difficult trail last week, im assuming it happened from the gas sloshing forward and back. I usually load my rotopax on my rack with my large Kriega bag on top of it when were motocamping but now i'm very worried about the amount of weight on it. Apparently you can even snap your sub-frame from too much weight.
Nice video as always NoOne. You didn't talk about your headlight mod ... which I'm thinking about doing too. Oh, and you forgot to mention your best mod -- knobs for screws! ha ha ha just kidding. So with your panniers, top bags, two gallons of liquids on the back, does your XT250 handle differently, does the stock shock preform OK with all that on the back? Bummer on the FMF melting issue. That stinks!
Hey thanks XT!!! I CANT BELIEVE I FORGOT ABOUT THE KNOBS?!?!?!?!?! The stock shock is definitely suffering from the weight. In terms of off road performance it causes the rear end to become a bit unmanageable, the rear follows ruts immediately and she bottoms out on anything and everything while going too quickly.
NoOnesWatching we are still waiting!!! I love your bike and videos. I would love to see a video explaining the rack and how you got both rotopax mounted like that. Please!!!
You should use a relay that is triggered by the ignition fuse, then the phone charger receives battery voltage. That way it’s only on when the bike is on. So no ghost drain.
I am curious, anyone watching this that has the Ca. Version? “ with the useless Smog Cannister? Any recommendations for a skid plate that will fit around it? Or I would actually prefer to pull it. Anyone remove theirs and if so, any negative effects? Hate that ugly useless thing.
Those aren't mods. They're add ons. Mods are exhaust, EJK .....anything that is considered an upgrade. Your tire and light bulbs are mods. Not the rest
My xt250 is near the same mileage as yours. This is not my video, but I think he does a pretty good job explaining about valve adjustment: ruclips.net/video/Ozrhxlitq4w/видео.html&ab_channel=blancolirio . I don't know if you plan on doing this yourself, but if you do, I hope this helps.
Yeah I have done the valve adjustment, super easy! I din't have to do any real adjustment since my bike was still in spec. I think I did it at 10,500 miles....
XT Yamaha's are a real pack mule I have a XT 350 bought a Luggage Rack that allows me to keep the tool bag as well so I can now carry a extra gallon of gas as I ride to remote areas MANRACKS.COM worth every penny very nice racks they build
2022 the Yamaha is the standard of the world. XT250 is a truly a classic motorcycle.

My favourite is the zip tie license plate mod :)

Nice set up, great little bike, I should get one of those and set it up for winter commute
+blu3vil Yeah its a great bike!!! Honestly right now is the perfect time to pick up a used XT

Many people buy something that has a larger cage and weld it over the existing. I have this mod on my bike, its great.

Man. 90/90x21 fits, I had a 3.00x21 on mine !
why don't you make more videos of your xt250????
I am looking to get a brighter headlamp for my 21 xt250 LED preferably Have you seen any for these bikes?

Jan Reeves checking valves isnt that hard. Just time consuming the 1st times. Just play it safe and stick to the schedule

Snapping it is a benefit, it tells you where it’s weak so you can weld it back stronger

what oil grade do you use?
Great video's ty
Do you mind posting the links to the exact rack system and rotopax mounts adapters? Looking to get the same setup.
Scott, I'll be doing the XT250 Upgrades episodes on them pretty soon, stay tuned for them around the corner!

Bro what is its cruising speed ?
The speed U can achieve anytime U want..?
Kindly help...
I'm from Asia and Wana buy XT 250...
65mph is the cruise, at 70-73 your really pushing the bike maxed out
spre tube or spare tire if it is a spare tyre doesn't it loose shape by having it all tight up?
Was the 12V outlet phone charger connected to the bike’s battery ? Thanks for responding.

Good vid buddy . Do they sell that pipe for the 225 ?
What is your average comfortable cruising speed. Can you do 60mph all day?
+Norman De George I'd say about 65

Could this bike handle long drives on the the highways about 300m
I've done it before. It's not built for it but I've certainly made long distance trips on it.

If you ever want to sell that bike give me a shout lol
Hahahahaha of course! I doubt I will ever sell it though ;) It's too good of a bike!

There isnt much to mod on the xt unless you want to shell out to get it dyno'ed.
