I agree, I think if WCW had survived after ECW went out od business for another 2-3 years, it would still be here today. I do think the Internet also hurt wrestling, specifically WCW at the time because it was trying to compete with WWE and not be its own company and be different. I miss the World War 3 and Fall Brawl concept PPV matches. If WCW capped contracts at a certain level and had a better sense of direction after the nWo era, it could have survived. I do miss the 1992-1995 days when WCW was different and unique vs WWF
It's obvious that it was the internet and solely the internet because anyone can go online now just look up spoilers back then you couldn't really you had to watch to see what was happening
This guy is the George Steele of my era. I watched Steele late in his career, but nobody played dumber than Rick. It just so happens both guys are highly intelligent, college educated guys in real life.
Part of the reason WCW was lost money wasn't just due to reckless over spending but due to the infrastructure of the company e.g. PPV revenue would go to Turner Home Entertainment, not WCW itself. In addition although WCW at it's peak was generating a fortune from merchandise, live events, & international television, they didn't get ad revenue for TV they produced, instead they were only given a budget which was cut when Thunder was added. When Eric Bischoff attempted to generate more revenue through a deal with NBC in late 1998, the deal fell when the NBA lockout ended. All the other operating companies under Time Warner such as CNN each had the there own accounting but WCW didn't. WCW fell under "other" category & higher ups started allocating WCW's revenue to other areas.
I agree with Steiner. Ted lost control of the company. You had Hogan playing the creative control card, the nWo was getting out of hand and they stopped charging for entry to Nitro and Thunder. I think if they had made fans pay then WCW would still be here. The sad thing is TNA is also going under because the owners hate each other and the roster is being gutted by ROH, NJPW and WWE.
no they wouldnt have because hhh had the stroke and he and Scott Steiner didn't care for each other. WWE wasnt a hug tag team company like it was in the late 80s and early 90s. That Attitude Era had great tag teams but not like the 80s
The real short of it is, WCW got so big that they pretty much abused Turner's money and things just fell apart. WCW was on top of the world but by 200 there was too much money going out and not enough coming in. WWE did not kill WCW!
Some of those guys should of deflected to WWE right before WCW folded. That's why I liked the radicals Benoit Malenko Perey Saturn and Guerrero. They were smart
true it's ridiculous they should of been more strict they should of stepped down also and let younger talent get a chance. they had great talent but the egos got in the way.
it is sad that wcw not exist anymore.i liked it more than wwe today.but bad decisions, high paid wrestlers they wanted more and more money and want to have the total control about herself to be pushing himself into the mainspot especially the nwo.i liked nwo in the beginning.they we`re a good bunch of heels but with more backstage power they can do what they want and the other superstars like eddie querrero, rey mysterio etc.they worked there asses of for nothing.
The top guys just had too much creative freedom and power...especially that idiot Hogan who wouldn’t job to anyone. I never watched wcw till The whole Nash and Hall invasion angle, so I didn’t know low and middle carders, but the more I watched the more I appreciated them. The problem is they could never get a push to the top. Jericho and Eddie became superstars in the wwf. Jericho especially was over like hell, but they wouldn’t give him a push and make things interesting. They milked the now angle till it was dry and then sucked out the dust. Hell, when they got Bret Hart they did absolutely nothing with him. WWF had new superstars coming up and the McMahon heel angle and the product at the top of the card had just become far superior. People just didn’t give a shit about wcw headliners doing the same thing for years now over and over.
This message sounds like it was posted by the real Iron Sheik!!!!!! Tina never would've left Sheiky though, BECAUSE HE WOULD'VE MADE HER HUMBLE BY BREAKING HER BACK IN THE CAMEL CLUTCH!!!!!!!!!!
The wrestling industry is sadly still paying the price for WCW going out of business. And will continue to.
85futureshock How so?
Basically saying it's no competition now which in return makes it boring
@Eric Douglas Absolute bollocks
or the internet
@Eric Douglas No, gymnastics is making a comeback with those companies
I really miss WCW
Me too
Why?

Rick might be a college graduate, but his brother is the product of a "highly educated university who has to dumb himself down"..

nWoWolfpacTV2016 that’s what Nash said.
Will AEW become the next WCW?
Or it could be that the product just started to suck. How many factions of the NWO did we really need?

The AWO, The BWO, the CWO,…….
happy 56th birthday robert rick rechsteiner aka rick steiner !!!!
Ted Turner loved wrestling, but the executives who worked for Turner hated wrestling.

what?
AEW too
I Miss wCw 💔
I would have liked to see the Steiners in WWE in 2002/2003. They would have had a great run there.
no they wouldnt have because hhh had the stroke and he and Scott Steiner didn't care for each other. WWE wasnt a hug tag team company like it was in the late 80s and early 90s. That Attitude Era had great tag teams but not like the 80s
& hhh didn’t care for Steiner because he was too busy marking out for Flair.
love the channel. love the stories with wrestling. way more interesting than the now product.
Wcw was and still is the best pro wrestling company in the USA.
You really miss those Viagra on a pole matches huh?
So if Ted didn't do the Time Warner merger WCW would hopefully still be in business.
WCW being sold to Vince McMahon is the worst thing to ever happen to wrestling
The real short of it is, WCW got so big that they pretty much abused Turner's money and things just fell apart. WCW was on top of the world but by 200 there was too much money going out and not enough coming in. WWE did not kill WCW!
Yeah it did
I Miss WCW 😢
Ted turner should never put Eric bishoff in charge of all of wcw because Eric has fired a lot of people for no reason.
So has Vincd kinda
Actually the ratings were falling behind WWF because Vince was bringing in new Talent and WCW wasn't
Some of those guys should of deflected to WWE right before WCW folded. That's why I liked the radicals Benoit Malenko Perey Saturn and Guerrero. They were smart
Beginning of 1999 these are the guys in WWF
Big Show
Chris jericho
2000
Radicalz
2001
WCW gets bought out
Inmates running the asylum.
true it's ridiculous they should of been more strict they should of stepped down also and let younger talent get a chance. they had great talent but the egos got in the way.
their cruiser weight division was most entertaining, nobody wanted to see a 40 minute hogan maint event match at every PPV
@@floggyWM1 agree hogan rules that place and that was one of the problems. He had too much power
Conclusion: when you are not on top of your business and have others running it, they will milk it and run it straight to the ground.

I don't see how anyone could like WCW better than WWE
I miss WCW Uswa ECW AWA the list go on
So Eric went out of control
WCW and Ecw died and the industry is barely just now recovering
barely recovering??? its at its worse
The Steiner brothers could beat up your brothers.
The sane Steiner brother
You're 3 1/3 correct

Yet he is a multiple time wwe champion
once the ted turner and the tina break up the ted finish the tina has all the talent
