    I could listen to Shane for hours. Such an intelligent and articulate man. And still looking pretty good for his age.

    Sounds like they were worried that he would lie down and collect a paycheck while he was hurt, so they told him he was being made a star to expedite his return. Now that he's back, they can do whatever they want because him being there gives them the opportunity to book him however they want. Classic heel move by a company

      That would make some sense if the story is true. Obviously someone is going to be more likely to hurry back for a top level run than getting jobbed out. So this logic would make sense if his recounting of things happens to be true.

    Ditto on Shane being a good dude. Office politics are frustrating...he had a good run and still has his health and sanity.

    Jim Herd is near-universally despised by everyone in the wrestling business who ever interacted with him, and with each mention or story told of him during these interviews, it's very apparent as to why that is.

    • @mr10tomidnight
      @mr10tomidnight 5 лет назад +6

      One person who still likes him would be Eric Bischoff. Jim Herd hired Eric as a third string announcer. That's how he got started in WCW and the rest is history.

    shane gives so many details and information about specific people, he's an incredible interview, it's so sad his very first shoot interview with rf video (the one where he is at the pool with francine in a bikini) had the worst audio, you heard bits and pieces but he went into the politics in the wwf and i wish i could have heard every word

    Shane Douglas gives the most accurate description of the business that most people would have assuming they are normal. By normal, I mean would fit into normal society at the time. The wrestling business is really, really screwed up. At least, it used to be.

      @@msm1876 you know, on one hand, that's a good thing. That's part of the fun of working in the business. On the other hand, it's one of the trashiest experiences you will have, depending on who you work with or for.
      I can tell you that the coolest person I met and the business was Sherri Martel. She was so incredibly down-to-earth and nice.

    No one I've listened to liked Jim Herd. I'm guessing this was the after Flair quit as booker (because of Herd) and they went to a committee with Hamilton, Ross, Sullivan, and a few others. Cornette quit the committee around then too.

    This video sums up why the wrestling business is maybe the most fucked up industry there is. People bashed CM Punk for wanting to get out of the WWE for his health and being lied to or Bruiser Brody for being difficult with promoters. Truth is they were justified because the majority of promoters like Vince McMahon or the old time promoters in the NWA could give a shit about wrestlers or their families (see making the roster work this past Christmas). They would have no issue working you until you dropped dead and steal money from you while doing it.

    That was Mark's finisher at the time, what was he angry about?
    Mark was an up and coming monster heel, it would have been backwards to have him lose to a much smaller guy at that point

    I believe Shane. As much as I love JR, he spent most of his career as a backstage king maker and is a big part of the political bullshit that surrounded 90's WCW and WWE.
    And in defense of Jody Hamilton and JR, they were working for Herd who had no idea what he was doing and were probably just as frustrated as Shane
