A high-quality rendition of the hauntingly beautiful intro theme for ‘Masters of the Air’ - a new Apple+ TV war drama that shines a powerful spotlight onto the unprecedented & unimaginable challenges & achievements of the USAAF 100th bomb group that was stationed in England during the second world war. We will forever owe those brave young men an infinite debt of gratitude.
Lest we forget.
Song name - Soar (Main Title Theme from ‘Masters of the Air’) Blake Neely
Clip from - The Memphis Belle: A Story of a Flying Fortress (1944)
It has to be one of the best themes across the three series.
true, I think band of brothers is equally as good tho, its difficult to choose from but BoB is more sad and tragic theme and this one is more hmm I dont wanna say happy but more "motivational" and epic in a way, also the pacific is also really good!
The series was fantastic, just as I knew it would be in comparison to the other 2. Loved every minute of it and never skipped this intro. The end showing all the real life veterans had me in tears, I can't lie.
Same
The Greatest Generation of all. Today’s Generation is the Luckiest, We get to be the last generation to ever meet such amazing veterans
I absolutely agree with you. We are beyond blessed. Thank you for commenting.
Its not just what they did in the war that makes them the greatest generation but how these people conducted themselves through all of life that makes them truly a cut above the rest and deserving of the title forever of the greatest generation.
@@WorldWide_Dom Exactly
The luckiest were the baby boomers.
@@blitzy3244maybe the later generations of baby boomers, the early ones had to fight in Vietnam.
I can’t wait for someone to make a miniseries about the Battle of Britain. As much as I appreciate the film and it’s practical effects, something with the style of band of brothers or masters of the air would be exemplary
Evertime I watch this it brings me to tears...real men, some just boys gave everything
I cried a lot 😢for my Heroes I never knew what what you guys went through 😢you had your wings when you flew your planes ✈️ for us and you still have your wings in heaven I promise my grandchildren will Never Forget Them 🙏🙏🙏🙏
This is such a beautiful tribute, Nicola. Those men endured unimaginable suffering so that we (their descendants) could enjoy a lifetime of peace, prosperity and possibility. Thank you for commenting.

I can't hear this without getting teary eyed. The last episode, I need to rewatch. I basically viewed the last half feeling like my eyes were underwater. My eyes had constant tears in them for 15 minutes at least!
Literally
I wish we could see some love for the B-24 Liberator rather than solely focus on the Flying Fortress.
I have to agree with you. The B-24 was arguably the superior aircraft (when compared to the B-17). It cruised faster than the B-17 and carried a more extensive payload than the B-17 over a longer distance. The Flying Fortress, however, flew higher than its stablemate; and could also take an extremely vicious beating. The B-17 was far more orthodox and forgiving to its young pilots (while being less modern - technologically speaking) than the liberator. That was an extremely important factor to consider back when slow training times for aircrewmen would have threatened the USAAF’s ability to wage war. Despite all of this, less Boeing B-17’s were ultimately produced for the war effort than Consolidated B-24’s. In conclusion, both types were amazing heavy bombers that had different strengths and weaknesses. History does seem to have favoured the B-17 nonetheless (in strict terms of stardom). The supermarine spitfire outshone the hawker hurricane, despite the latter earning more aerial victories during the Battle of Britain. The p-47 thunderbolt was eventually upstaged by the p-51 mustang. There are more examples I could give too. In terms of modern day high profile representations within Hollywood, the film unbroken did feature the liberator. I’m not aware of other major productions featuring it though. The B-17 has enjoyed numerous appearances in Hollywood including Memphis Belle, MotA, Red Tails, Closing the Ring, etc. Anyways, thank you for commenting.
@@jamesstewartwilliams20k B24 built designed for mass production B17 not so much
They followed the 100th group. Did they have any B-24?
Watch Unbroken if you ant to see the B24 in media.
@@jamesstewartwilliams a good comparison - the Davis wing on the B24 gave it strengths and weaknesses - but it did a lot in the Battle of the Atlantic too due to its Fantastic Range .
To them we owe our freedom.
I couldn’t agree more. Thank you for commenting.
I sometimes feel we are not worthy of their service and sacrifice.
If we let the freedom they won for us drift away out of laziness or lack of concern, then yes. It is for every generation to renew the pledge our ancestors started when they wrote those 3 words at the beginning of The Constitution - "WE THE PEOPLE". Not somebody else -us.@@mikekeating6576

Beautiful music
I’m glad that you enjoyed. Blake Neely is a musical genius, and his soundtracks give me goosebumps! Thank you for commenting.
Band of Brothers is about the bond formed only in combat.
The Pacific is about how war changes you.
Masters of the Air is about sacrifice and loss.
I love your analogy! Thank you for commenting.
The fact most of these guys were in their early 20's is insane.
A recent book about 617 Squadron (the Dam Busters) pointed out the youth of so many of those who served in that squadron, and in Bomber Command overall, just as you said about the men of the 100th and the other USAAC bomber squadrons.
Lest we forget.
I’m french. My dad love planes and me too. I want studies politics and geopolitics in the army. THAT men who gives theirs lives for us must never forgetting ! Literal goosebumps!!!! Amazing series telling a small part of the story of true heroes; every one of them!
I completely agree with you Mike! It’s beyond belief what those men had to go through. Some of them weren’t even twenty yet - they were still teenagers. Just unbelievable levels of courage. Thank you for commenting.

Back in style, as they should be! Thank you for commenting.
I’m a tax pro with H&R Block the founder of our company Henry Block was a tail was gunner on a B-17 and I read in his book the stories the bravery encourage that these men and the women that supported their efforts truly reflects how great of a country we are, and what we would be willing to do in the cause of freedom
Thank you for sharing @Jumpjoe4587 !
That sounds like such a great organisation to be part of! I must also agree with you… the American warrior spirit is indeed indomitable and steadfast. Great men and women, one and all. Thank you for sharing.
Saw one take off in Boca Raton Florida 80 year old technology the sight the sound and smell still put a chill down my spine
That is completely fantastic! Do you know which machine it was? I know that we sadly lost texas raiders back in ‘22 so there aren’t many flying airframes left. I saw Sally b that same year, strutting her stuff above Duxford. The engine roar absolutely does give you the deepest chills and goosebumps. Wonderful freedom machines.
Honestly competes for 1st place with Band of Brothers in the Spielberg-Hanks themes.
Better than original!
The best timing when theme rising at 00.58 and the wheels lifted from the runway.
and 'rapid deploy' from 01.32 which sync with sound's epicness.
Good job. Add the intro text and can be the best intro of the series.
This is totally awesome!
Thank you Walter, I’m so glad that you enjoyed! Blake Neely really achieved something incredible with this soundtrack. Thank you for commenting.
@@jamesstewartwilliams As you may know, all that footage is from "Memphis Belle A Story of a Flying Fortress" by William Wyler. The film was made from footage exposed in April and May 1943.
@@walterm140 Yes sir, it is!
I started watching the original on RUclips and while watching this same takeoff segment I also began playing soar in the background… the visuals immediately matched up with the soundtrack so beautifully that I had to wrap up the edit early with minimal cropping/pasting. It was almost like the soar theme was made for this exact segment. Some things really are just meant to be. Come to think of it, I must definitely put the original film title in the description just to make sure that others know! Thank you Walter for the film name reminder as well as your response. Much appreciated.

"American bombing in the summer of 1943 had limited the planned
expansion of the Luftwaffe's forces. This expansion had begun in
mid-1941 when Goring ordered Milch to increase aircraft production
sufficiently to quadruple front-line strength. Hitler accelerated the
effort with additional demands for greater aircraft production in
1942. Milch merged existing factories into larger complexes in order
to increase production. Though efficiency of scale helped raise
output, it also made the American bombing effort easier by
concentrating production in a few large complexes. Eighth's bombing
efforts in the first half of 1943 were small by later standards, but
they forced the Air Ministry to request the dispersal of Germany's
aircraft manufacturing industry in May 1943.
Little was done until Hitler gave Minister for War Production Albert
Speer power to order plant dispersal in August 1943. This dispersal
and American bombing caused output to lag in the fall of 1943.
Speer and Milch planned to reach a production level of 2000 fighters
per month by the summer of 1944, but the intensity of the Blitz Week
attacks of late July 1943 convinced Milch to try to reach a production
level of 2,000 per month by the end of 1943. Continued bombing
frustrated Milch's venture and he reduced his production goals to
1,000 Bf 1O9s per month by December 1943 and 1,000 FW 190s per month
by March or April 1944.

I couldn’t agree more. Thank you for commenting!
My father was in Air Force, some of his friends never made it home. These names were deeply buried in his heart and memory till his left. He seldom talked about this…..
Thank you for commenting Linus, I do appreciate your openness. Psychological trauma can cut the deepest sometimes, and sadly our veterans often do not receive the proper mental health care that they may need to fully recover after their service. My deepest thanks to your father and your family.
Love it
The Lib was a better battle platform, granted. But, the B17 had the looks. Smaller bomb bay, but the overall appearance, and numerical proliferation ensures its iconic status as the most useful tool of the campaign.
Very well said, Paul. Thank you for commenting.
fell in love with the looks - sounds and history of the B 17 In the 90s
not only for the looks, also it can take a harsh beating and came home with most of the crew alive.

I read a book years ago by Martin Caiden entitled "Flying Forts." He covered the B-17 from design through the war. Yes, the B-24 was faster, carried a heavier load, and had greater range. But its high, thin and relatively narrow wings could not take the battle damage, which many fortresses endured. Thus, the B-17 was more durable and brought its crews home more effectively.
Outra super produção
