Those are some of the best helpers I’ve ever seen. I like how he was watching his tacks go in and gave him a little more amperage. It’s been my experience that they’re usually staring off into space when we’re burning. I’m on the building construction side though...different world.
That helper was on top of everything the welder needed. Love it when you get good help makes welding so much quicker.
Yes I totally agree this is what you call team work at its finest well done guys wish my bloody boys could do the same thing, Fridays is the only time you see them come together around about 3.00pm near to knock off beer time the mongrels. Praise the respect to you and your company awesome. Blue NZ
Hell to the yeah!
Everybody know their obligation right...
The helper just stood there and grinned when he needed to. But if your referring to the guy in the black and white hoodie he’s a fitter and that’s his job. Don’t think he’s a helper.
@@TheGsquad697 You must not understand the weld process. Yes, I am talking about the guy in all black with the blue hard hat. His job is to be ready with the rod, grinder and remote.
If you’ve been around pipelines and fieldwork you know he was on 🔥. That’S EXACTLY what a helper is supposed to do. It takes a while for a helper and welder to be in sync. The helper needs to be 1 step ahead of the welder and ready for any curveballs. I have been doing this for 33 years. I’ve maybe had a handful of helpers that on top of it.
That Welder helper was On top of the ball, He deserves a promotion for the sake of ergonomics and work efficiency.
Nice job. I am an old ex-fitter/welder and MAN do I miss welding on big inch pipe like this. I always welded 6010 uphill on most of the jobs I did, but it all depends on specs, of course. We did 5P root and hot and 7018 fill and cap. I LOVED it! Old and fat now, and probably lost my hand at it, but it's the best thing I ever did, as far as a skill set. Welds so pretty you want to take a picture of them.
Awesome job guys I built ski lifts for 22 yrs did a lot of tower work we used to cut the tower to length with a chain track torch sometimes splicing two thirty or forty ft tower tubing together we ran flat fluxcore using foot pedal rotary system welded top caps & 1 1/2" thick 4×4' base plates with eight gussets, we had a guy come work with us who was a pipe welder who worked for shell oil off the coast of California who had a truck n stick welder he'd tack the tower splice and weld up one side than the other the flux would hang off the weld he was one of the best welders i ever saw he made us look bad lol!! his name was bill bowen great job guys
That welder and helper work great together. It's great to see two professionals getting it done. That electrode swap out at 10:50 is awesome. Nice video!
@9:57 passing the rod.

Mad respect to the helpers. Great job. Good team work
The welder's helper is amazing I like the way he work and keep up a pair of everything for the welder great job man whoever you are
This is your best video. I like to see the work heading up to the weld and the root pass. Everything after the root is just more of the same. Watching the welding isolated is a little like watching grass grow.
Great teamwork, welders mate is on the ball! That's the way to do it,reading welders mind.
Good coordination of work application ! Both the welder's have very good assistants ? Very good understanding and responsibilty to work executed by the team ! Great job Guys ! Well done !
thats a good team there, that helper knows exactly what he has to do to keep it flowing nicely and the welder moving the stool over to help the helper out, all I can say is good team work
You upload some great pipe weld videos. Thanks for showing us part time welders how its done.
Great Vid..... brings back many memories !! TY...... From an old retired pipeline welder..
I have built lots of trailers, gates, fence, But when somebody ask's me if I am a welder I always say no, This guy and other guys like him are the real welders of America.
Enjoyed that !! My Mrs just walked in to the room and said , "What the hell are you watching now?" They just don't understand do they , I do my own welding with an arc inverter here, and have welded all my life, hard facing loading shovel buckets and teeth etc, but nothing on this scale , and after all that time I still hate vertical welding...subbed, well done from UK
Me to
you were probs told to push uphill, no need 6010 root 7018 hot pass
This video just passed 500,000 views today! That's half a MILLION views! Thanks very much for helping to make that possible!
Can you work on a pipe line with a GED?

Like clockwork. Do you guys always work together as a team? Everyone seems to be doing exactly the right thing at exactly the right time. Do you practice the moves,"off the field" you know, like a football team? Thanks for posting.
sure do miss brother-in-law'n on big pipe with welding buddies. unfortunately been in and out of hospital for almost three years. cancer got my right pelvis with no chance of reconstruction and now doing chemo as we speak. hopefully in the future i can figure a way to get back to working my skill. all you active welders, of all process, keep doing a great job! God bless you all.
Awesome trade assistant hard to find men like him now days good job buddy
yea a proffesional welder is an artist, because they always get it right in their mind before they deposit on the surfacce.
yes my friend you are right i am welder too
great video. I'm addicted to these videos. in welding school now.
Well what can l say I've been welding 40 years and can say that I've never seen or met two welders that welding or agree on any they all think there way is the best and that may be inthere opinion but let me tell you you do it your way and it gets your desired results stick with it there's no right wrong or correct way just a rust that gets it done and that's the right way.
That guy with the dark face shield is a damn good helper!!!!!!! A+++++
respect to you and yer crew here man.. started welding 2 years ago and I've got so much to learn still lol, it's amazing how smooth you guys do this stuff
You boys are top rate pipeliners ! Keep up the good work & be safe.
The welder is like the Dr. in the operating room, every one else is assisting.
1 MILLION views as of today!!! Huge thank you everyone!!!
Props to that crew brother in lawing that . Man, I look at them boys and I am so happy that I got out of the patch. In this life you don't always get paid for what you know. You get paid for what you'll put up with. You can tent it from rain, still get wet. Tent it from snow, still get cold. Tent it from sun, still sweat more out than you can take in.
From Alabama, Went to U.S. Pipe plant on a turnaround in Bordentown, New Jersey. Another "NOT for the faint of heart" was putting it, lyingly. Every day, All day 17 - 18 hr work days, For 3 months, Had I not been 22 at the time? To get some sleep, We slept on the job stayed filthy eating from their vending machine. This video caused flashbacks.
reminds me my first pipe job in Russia, Siberia. Welding machine sound instead of music. The same look of mother nature.
your work is commendable, absolutely loved the video. Keep posting mate
looks like a damn good helper to me
Jep!!
Pay him Well
And teach him well
Good work . not much unnecessary stories. I like the approach to the work

Nice teamwork there. It's good to see people working hard and getting things done.
Welders are in high demand in a number of major industries including shipbuilding, pipeline construction, aerospace, and automotive repair. As demand continues to exceed supply, skilled welders have the enviable position of being able to pick and choose jobs based on the type of work they like to do, where they would like to live, and how much they would like to earn. A professional career in this industry will allow you to travel, all the while earning a solid income; not many jobs can compete with that!
Man thx me i am welder with 6years experienced i am living in brasil i want to come there
Oh yeah
That's impressive up and welding in 4 minutes that would take me a day to do if I was by my self good job boys👍
Congrats on your views. That's awesome.
I'm surprised they let you bead and hot pass. They're taking away a lot of field welding.
I do still love working on pipes, I remember d good ol' times on that size & sched' of pipes I'm a1 man band the only thing that helps me is the overhead crane and I'm also the one who operates....nice working on pipes brothers........
nice crew! the assistants are right on and it was quite a fast pace

You are the one that deserve the thanks for all these sweet vids. Will keep watching as long as you keep em coming... and i def cant wait to start making that money. According to my uncle it is very very impressive.
Keep em coming dude.
NOTHING easy about this work, these men EARN their money.
Lair down hill weld piece of cake, plus a helper and a heavy equipment operator, easy money you must not be a iron worker to say that I been there cake work

Everything comes withs hards works in life’s dreams and becomes a big pipelines weldings 📌📌📝📝
All welding is done through an arc.
And to answer your question, yes, it absolutely is worth welding.
A: Stick welding along with TIG separates the boys from the men, meaning anyone can pull a trigger and run beads after some practice.
B: No other process matches the tensile strength of regular SMAW. MIG filler wire has about 15000lbs of strength(depending on gauge) whereas the staple electrode 7018 has 70,000lbs of pull behind it.
So yes, it still is relevant.
that tool holder thing for the grinder is a nice touch.
Believe that's also the welder "remote."
Ur welcome. I hired a great welder in Canada to do some repair work, he learned in the canadian Navy. He hand held a torch and cut a one inch thick piece of plate smooth as cutting a piece of cheese...I commented on how smooth it was and he said "that's nothing!" he was a great guy, very skilled
Hii sar my dad is a great weldar & febrycetar hi is 29 years weld in India so any job for you
from this video it looks a little less stressful then i thought, so hopefully if i am a pipefitter it has this same environment lol, otherwise id just be pissed off the whole time....
but on the other hand, man you guys have a nice system of getting things done, im on my last year of welding and just got my certification for TIG root/1/8" 7018 fill 6G pipe, and getting fluxcore, smaw, gmaw, gtaw certs this year and renewing my 6G cert this year, then think im gonna study up a bit to be a CWI
Good teamwork, makes for a productive day.
Great team work, really enjoyed the video, big thumbs up from the UK.
Forgive me. I'm a welder but not a pipe welder at all but I have a few questions if you could please take the time to answer.
1. How come you're welding downhand? Is that part of the weld procedure required?
2. Is there not any slag inclusions between the start and finish of each welds? Are these just burnt out and merge with the slag of the new weld?
3. Is that dial changing the amperage as the welder goes around?
I hope I haven't made any offence just looking for knowledge.
Thanks,
Great videos by the way.
1. Most pipe welding procedures call for downhill welding.
2. You burn out all the slag you can, and buff and grind it out between passes.
3. Yes, the dial is the remote fin e amperage control
Your Tensile Strength is actually increased with the Shielded Metal Arc welding process when you weld with downhand progression and it is much faster. If you were to up hand all your passes it would greatly reduce production. Some people think that downhand welds are actually weaker then up hand welds but this is a common misconception. I have heard some welders say that the only reason they downhand pipe is because the pipe is buried and there's external pressure from All the compacted earth around the pipe after it's buried. I don't believe that because I've done above ground pipelines in the downhill progression.
+Bricksquadmonoply . i weld pipe everyday. i actually make the pipe, steel core reinforced concrete pipe from 30-144". up hill welding is both faster and stronger then downhill. going downhill has less penetration and you must do more smaller passes.
No, downhill is faster. That's why is Pipeliners weld downhill. There are NO uphill welds on the pipeline.
Now there's one I'll have to research ... .
I honestly can't believe this video passed 400,000 views today! Thanks everyone for watching and commenting!
xAZAZELx13 A good T/a is priceless, should be 2 steps in front of you at all times. He is your right hand
xAZAZELx13 Great video! I am wanting to start working on a pipeline. Do you guys mostly do down hill or both?
The hits just keep on coming! My old Double Joint yard video passed 450,000 upload views today! Thanks everyone!!!
xAZAZELx13 not too far from a million
youre over a million now
too bad it isnt monetized.
I appreciate it! I just started to TIG pipe today and I've got a long way to go. But I hope I'll find something soon. I'm sure ill be coming to you with some more questions as I begin to learn more
Hermoso trabajo, esto si k es currar
Surprised they are doing downhill welds , we were always taught you do the uphill for a stronger weld , 40 years a Boilermaker , our pimps set us up and kept our needs met but we did all the fitting , grinding , tacking and welding , what do you think these guys make an hour ?
With stick I've always welded downwards, was taught that way.
It's faster, as well as avoiding climate problems
I am a student welder and I think very good video from the educational point of view. Work a professional welder!!
Great job. Thanks, Douglas.

Good video, looks like everyone seems to know what there doing! (probably all done it a thousand times). 20mins for fit up, bead and hot pass seems good going, don't know what people are moaning about! Although does seem strange for no pre heat! But who cares as long as it follows the procedure
i'm here on 12-4-2020 at 1.6 million views, kinda in my line of work as a cag designer
If you build a rack and have the rack loaded you can increase your production tremendously. you can keep your welders busy all day by having the pipe spaced and set up ahead of them.
beautiful team work
i asked how many welds u guys get done didnt want to cause problems but screw the haters best pipe welding videos on the NET!!
Заметьте- у сварщика помощник, пока сварщик зачистит, пока табуретку принесет- руки дрожат, а тут свежий человек только варит- вот оно качество!!!
Well I for one liked seeing guys work as a team ,, get it done fast and maybe ,, just maybe take pride in job well done to the specs that they were told to complete. For an outsider looking in it seems they did a great fast job.
I weld like this time to time where I work, welding "D" rings on either ends of large
diameter induction bends, 45 to 90 degrees. Strip a 6010 root in down hand, 8010 1G
hot pass down hand. Complete the weld with 8018 C3 up hand. You can't roll a bend.
These two lucky beggars have helpers, me and my partner don't. Good vid.
nothing like a beautiful weld
Team work gets the job done!!
getting the body into those positions all day really makes you strong
This is teamwork..
Great team work
We also see companies pre double jointing pipe with semi-automation (as it is so much faster than the standard method), and then joining the doubles to the line.
Team works well together.
If what ambient temp, id assume that the pipe was made of mild steel or low carbon steel. Nice work, thats quick productive welding at its finest.
Impressionnant!
Brilliant team work well done boys
There is a better way to do it with a better set of clamps. WorldWide Machining and Welding in Superior Wisconsin has developed a new style outside line up clamp that speeds things up with a better fit up
now a days, there is a trend that no helper with a welder, because a company wants to save the cost.
so only a welder and a pipe-fitter are one team.
this is what happens in Korea.
by the way, stick welding is getting rare. especially, RT or UT point.
thanks guys. your team works well done
GotDAMN you guys are good, hopefully someday I can get out of the shop n make some REAL welds for some REAL money!!! 💴
This video just passed 900,000 views as of today! It's well on it's way to a MILLION views and it's all thanks to all of you out there! I want to thank you all very much!
It is all about the welder, He might be a prima donna but his ares is on the line, if you cannot do your job we will get someone who cam. Looks like a well oiled team.

So enjoyable 😅
hate to break it to you, but mig is just as strong as SMAW... tensile strength is denoted in the electrode designation... eg 7018- 70,000 Lbs, 6010-60,000 Lbs for stick electrodes.... ER70S-6- 70,000 Lbs for mig....
One team always ,y'all be safe
What kind of electrode use this process, because they are doing always downhill technic, please refer AWS coding.
Real nice. I like that. I be doing excercises and stretches while I’m running on some pipe. Jus me though. Again. Real nice
Интересно что за электроды варят сверху вниз, ещё бы заглянуть в трубу посмотреть на обратный валик
like you work from Thailand
