Nice job pushing the 6010 root in. Never seen much downhill used as you're constantly catching slag. But it does speed up production immensely. I did this type of work for decades and never tired of it and the money. Well done Sir.
@Jacob Schofield --- Good job man !!!!!. Glad to see you are staying in the money and inspiring the rest of us that want to get out in the field and make it to. Thanks for all you do !!!!

Love the video, but one thing all weld videos miss are the final product. I understand welders are insecure about showing there welds if there not perfect, but thats one thing weld tube always shows. It helps me get a better understand what is good and okay and will pass.
He's also on Weldtube and Weld dot com. Certainly not insecure--look at the 80's action movie henchman mustache for example. Dude's rocking it like Bennett from Commando. NOT something one does when lacking confidence. Also it does say he ran out of camera battery.
Bill Cyrus didn’t exactly say he was just that most videos don’t show the weld so that leads to new videos not showing it. I worded that wrong I guess no hate I just think seeing the weld is a plus for the viewer or beginner. I enjoying watching theschofield videos and lifestyle.
@@walkerclittle4340 Ah, quite right. Some of his videos do show finished welds but I think a difference between him and the other two is that he's doing all this on the job instead of just for the camera. So he might be in a hurry to get to the next one more, certainly in this specific case.
Honest question, why is stick still used when there are wire feed applications for pipe line? I spoke with Lincoln recently and they said they aren’t the only company that makes wire feed applications for pipe line. 🤷🏽♂️ just curious.
Downhill can be ran faster and hotter and is less susceptible to porosity, incomplete penetration which is just a few reasons. There are a few others. It's overall the most practical process for pipe.
@@henryrollins9177 Good question, don't know for certain but a lot are. When I was living a little further up north near the gas fields they went through a LOT of people from failing drug tests. I'm not personally in that line of work but even stuff like banking tests occasionally.

Nice work on the test. I’ve never done one quite like that. Pretty cool
Glad to see downhill back! Downhill will shoot, bend, or exray !!!... Alot of places stopped that and using an ole Nickelson file to ring ya welds..
Nicely done I just passed that 12” .375 wall branch test what a nightmare a lot of hours of prep time and practice time

Beautiful work. I miss you, I'm Brazilian, I worked as a pipeline inspector.

Good day!!!!
Jacob where do u buy your cloth welding caps ?
Thanks for sharing your test day means a lot to a up coming pipe welder, $$$
Shit looks easy
Never showed your cap on the 2" coupon.
Is this is necessary to low and high the amps when positions being changed??
Assisto do Brasil 👏👏👏👏!
You guys and your standing pads.
Thanks
Where do y all get the welding shirts?
Some actually welding videos for once.. male welding videos great again!!
Awesome 👍 😁.
Thank you Kyle.
Good stuff man! Making Bingham County look good!!
I see plenty of downhill welding on pipe, why then do we test on 6g welding uphill.any answers guys?
What is the orange box the (inspector?) was holding? Looks like a cell phone sized, but not really. It doesn't look like a tox sensor...what is it?
was it the remote?
Something's different.
Whatever it is, run with it.
Just like eating ice cream 😁
Good

In process of getting back to work myself. I had to remember to avoid eating bagels or muffins with poppy seeds for breakfast for a few days.
Hahahaha
Every worker on the pipelines is tested for drugs?

Jake, what type of pancake hood is best and where can I go to order it? Thanks
Man huge huge fan above welding. Look up on Instagram @abovewelding
Ok i wish i learned welding but my question is how come the pancake mask only has a shield on 1 side of the helmet??
Thomas Morg it depends on which hand you weld with on the side that gets covered. It keeps the arc from burning the side facing the weld.
Do you have a video on setting up a branch test? Marking it out and such? Thanks! Love the videos!
Look at his video history, he has some in there.
I love the fact you run a miller... ever had problems getting a job because it’s blue?? I haven’t, but I hear the rumors all the time about it.
Nope. You will get poked at and made fun off but all in good humor.
Yeah I have the 400PP and I hear it all the time.
Those SAE's are cool and people love to run them but the PP Miller's are awesome running machines

Just wanted to say hey
Curious how you’re not setting the lens off when you were grinding the bead? Or do you just go for it blindfolded?
Some lenses have a grinding mode!
Lol going in blindfolded. 😂
Does an inspector check in between passes?
Usually they will check the root check the hotpass then let you cap it.
Why you're not using grinder guard?
I Do on the jobs. but they are not required while taking a test.
anyone know where they’re hiring currently hiring for pipeline?
West Texas
I wish I had someone to help me get better
If you don’t mind me asking what kind of shirts are those
Cinch FR shirt
And ariat fr
the kind that get caught in grinders with no guard😂
It's a good thing you work for yourself. If I seen my guys throw the tools around like you do they be down the road with my foot in there ass.
Hahahahah they probably take twice as long as I do too. But each there own.
A down hand pipe welding test,
O no theres no guard on the grinder. 😯 lol
Not the smartest but they don’t say anything during a test. During the job we are 100% grinder guards
@@JacobSchofield was just joking I hate using them myself. Have fun out there
That's more easy than 6gr welding test
What’s the song at the end of the video?
I’m not a 100% sure. I get all my music from epidemic sound
Going blind- sven karllson
Biggest advice if I want to get into pipe?
I just did a video with a josh where he explains quite a few tips.
wear your ppe so you can keep working is a good place to start.
Love that shit! Get that money hand
This is my dream to pipeline weld but I just don’t know how to get started.
why do we do not see any welds
Mostly just because I forget to do it.
Good work friend.

6010 rod is red in color
Yes it is. 60105p+ is bot
Downhand on stick 🤣🤣🤣🤣
What the thing the other guy was holding? Machinist here, sorry for the noob question.
amperage control for the welder
Tyler Koehn that’s what I was thinking
a remote for the welder.
Thought his shirt 👚 was gonna catch fire when he hung his elbow on it
Its an FR shirt
And your 2" is not on a 45⁰

All depends on where you put your hands.
@@JacobSchofield fair comment
@David S you're an idiot go back to the portable
it is. there is literally no reason to not use them on pipeline. not like your in a tight spot or somthing.

I wasnt taught to run a 6010 root or any other pass on pipe downhill
You were taught wrong
Tig
Im confused here I thought on a TEST you do everything uphill???
Carlos & Tamra nope there’s a lot of different tests. Downhill stick test jobs like these are common. Downhill mig roots on pipe as well.
Brandon Hernandez so downhill is the most common? Do I need to expect downhill or uphill tests? Or just be prepared for both?
Carlos & Tamra from my experience, downhill stick is mostly for rig welders. For shops or refineries as a singlehand welder I’ve always tested uphill with the exception of downhill mig roots on pipe.
Brandon is right. If I was you I would practice both uphill and downhill get used to both of them.
