Tommy is a living legend
I've owned a Maton Tommy Emmanuel Signature TE2 for many years now and it is the most amazing sounding acoustic guitar I've ever played. The tone is absolute perfection
Graham Mylett how much did that cost you
Hi Tommy. Thanks for the behind-the-scenes look at your guitar. And thank-you so much for your many enjoyable musical compositions. What a pleasure it is to watch you perform! Bet wishes from British Columbia, and we'll see you in Vancouver in May!
I did the "Maton" factory tour last year in Melbourne. Like the time I visited The Vatican I was "home " !!
Any guitar is alive in your hands!
Think that's how we can tell a good player!
Great advice Tommy ,thanks I remember we met in Perth we did a support gig with you, you gave me a whole box of strings for my 808 it was in the 90's I have a maton Mini now and still the 808 25 years old, my brother is the Sydney Maton Rep Keep on truckin' , such a great guy you are . Pete
I hope to get healthy soon and start playing again..you're such an inspiration and your music helps me get through what I'm going through.. Hope to see down the track somewhere. All my love to you :)
I am certainly not Tommy but I still can answer your question. If you are a practicing musician and you really play a lot (4-5 hours a day) then you should change strings as often as you can, every two weeks or every time you feel you are losing the tone. If you play just for your own pleasure at home (like me:) then you can stretch it to once a month or even more :)
Tommy changes strings before EVERY performance - he is very demanding and new strings is the simplest way to sound better.
Nice run down on the in and outs of guitar road life. Thanks
went to four workshops and one masterclass with Tommy. He uses an AER compact 60 amp and a couple Maton guitars. The sound man adds reverb to taste.Nothing fancy. He used to used a midiverb when he played Initation, setting 98,but not a whole lot else is going on.
Maton guitar is my dream guitar.........I wish I can have it once In my lifetime 😔
I have a martin HD28 and I have changed my meds. a millon times and the action has never changed.
john dennis you also don't tour around the world through changing climates either.
Guys, this is not TE's channel and even if it was, he doesn't have time to answer comments on the internet.
Due to his style of playing his main guitars usually do not «live» longer than 5 years.
Tommy’s the best!
Active preamp. The piezo/mic picks up the signal, the preamp amplifies it and it goes further to the amp/rack/colourisers he uses.
I've got to get a Maton they are great. Tommy's description of the Truss Rod Key cracked me up, "the tool that straightens the neck" He's a great musician but a guitar tech he'll never be.
For the audio adjustment panel on the guitar. Most Acoustic Electrics require a battery.
Got rid of my Jack socket issues with a spec'l 'full contact' jack plug..a brilliant idea,-
I think it's called "pure tone full-contact output for Guitar/Bass/mando" & so on.
Doing your own Maton-ence is admirable
Raspect
He fixes them until there's nothing left to fix! The "Mouse" (the well-worn 808) was only retired last year after MANY years of HARD use, many re-frets and body repairs. Matons are built tough. I plan to have my new 808TE for the rest of my life to then be handed down to my son. They are superb instruments.
Hello, I enjoyed this video clip. I was just curious...
With the intensity of your music, how long does an instrument last before it needs to be replaced? Love your music!!
Would that guitar need an adjustment to play always in open D?
Thank you
Use the best suited strings and yeah!
4:56? lol
What kind of tuners/machine heads are on Tommy's guitar?
Chantal i agree.
For the active pickups/preamps i guess.
My dream.
hi tommy love your attitude to playing, how often shouldyou change your strings??
Tommy give mark Knopler a bell and teach him to smile like you
That wall need repaint
Maton-nance :)
A whole video without mentioning Chet Atkins. Must be a first for Tommy!
The Seekers played Matons too but they never sounded like Tommy. Judith's voice made up for it though.
Is it the lack of attention?
Arkada bir derdim var! Yazıyo la
hahahahahahaha :)
Top lads changes his own strings.
well i won't be buying another Maton i saved for years to get my Maton i
have only played it ten times it has a dead string and there is a black
patch coming out of the wood at the front
5:03 and now wake up, get out of bed and let your right hand relax...
😂🤣😂
🇦🇺👍🇦🇺👍🇦🇺
I might trade a martin for one...
@Stephen Benoit Like a Gibson fretboard!
@Stephen Benoit You got some cool G. Dead on yer channel ✌️
why dont u teach how to play the guitar for beginners ????
He does.
Just like Richard Marx. Maton is his most go to guitar.
That place looks like a gas station bathroom lol

curious, tommy. did you have to pay for any of those 'matons'? isn't this just a cheap sales pitch for an inferior guitar? just what DID maton pay you to make this commercial?
He's been using Matons for a lot of years.

Here in aus, they're a well respected brand. With users like Tommy, Neil Finn, Josh Homme & John Butler they're not really something I'd call an 'inferior guitar.'
but they ARE something I'D call an "inferior guitar".
Matons are great guitars. Buying my second one after owning one for 30 years. Beautiful to play and beautiful tone. I put my old one through hell and 30 years later she has the scars to prove it but she still purrrs like a kitten! miaow lol
@Roger Baker you clearly don't know who you're talking to.
@@theID2 Really? They're great guitars, I've been playing them for years. What's inferior about them?
How come Tommy didn't play the guitar doesn't he know any tunes?
Maybe like most he just collects guitars
That's pretty ignorant coming from a nobody, and I doubt you'll ever be anymore than a nobody
