@@greg4673 And he's right! Everyone thinks it's all talent. But far from it. More than 90% is training, some of which are very painful training. I coach guitarists who believe they can do anything. And they are horrified when I tell them that they haven't practiced enough. Horrified and offended. And if I practice like crazy at home - like I do 4-5 hours a day for 4 years, 365 days a year before my first concert - then 150 € / $$ (then 300 DM) is an hourly wage for my first concert of 5 cents (two hours of performance). My guitar at the time cost five times as much and is not included in the bill. If I make a living for my family with music, then I have to think economically as if I were running a completely normal business. I can just live with my music and have to give a lot of lessons.

Tommy is a class act. I need to remember to try a thumb pick one of these days. It sure looks like it will help seeing I don't use picks 90% of the time.
Hi, great intervju I love it. I noticed you let Tommy speak and don't speak while he talking. I`ve seen other speaking over him before he is finish speaking. It's very annoying! Thank you again
This is one very wise musician............I will be seeing him for the first time in Feb............Cant wait......
Dude's a master. No mistake.
really helpful interview, I wish somone would ask Tommy about his worth ethic, the driving force behind everything...all the methods in the world are useless is the desire for excellence and hard work is not present.
Bitter people go round flagging down great videos on RUclips and that's a shame. GREAT GUITAR TEACHING!!!!
Hope you live forever. The world needs a million of you🤩
21:18 Priceless! Haha!
I watched this straight through couldn't stop. 32min and a lifetime guitar lesson.
9:01 it is at this moment the interviewer decides to set his guitar on fire, throw it out the window, and tell his family to never bring up the topic.
Freight train was the very first finger picking song I ever learned. Of course Tommy has several cool versions of it.... the guy is phenomenal.
What a fantastic musician and human being is Tommy Emmanuel. He seems to always be happy at everything he does or says. What a nice role model.
I think my guitar must be broken because it won't do any of this stuff!
Yeah mine too
I can’t even look at my guitar anymore
Fine musician and fine teacher! A very rare combination.
AWESOME INTERVIEW, thank you so much for sharing. Tommy, you've become (since the last few months) my biggest inspiration - by FAR. I am truly blessed to have the opportunity to hear and see you, and hopefully one day it will be in person. You Sir are a gift to the world of music. God bless you and all that you do.
markarita3 not a good interviewer at all- monotone, dull, expressionless
So much great info in this interview! Thank you! 🎸👍
Now I'm inspired to practice my ass off when I get home this evening
Tommy's passion shines through, he's also able & humble enough to share his techniques.
I just found out I'm not a guitarist after 53 years of playing (note to self ,practice)
A true muso , and a gentleman. Incredible talent.
